Bethlehem Cluster Detectives successfully opposed bail against four alleged car thieves in the Lindley Magistrates` Court this week. Suspects were arrested during an intricate police operation involving Visible Policing, Crime Intelligence, and Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCI) and targeting several towns in the Eastern Free State.

Telang John Malefane (40), Makeka George Mavuso (42) and Aupa Abel Radebe (47) were caught on the R707 near Lindley on the wee hours of July 20, shortly after stealing a white Toyota Land Cruiser in Petrus Steyn. This untangled a web of car thefts. Police investigation soon led to Pule Joseph Sello (34) who was arrested for theft of another vehicle in Lindley in June 2018. They will be back in the same court on 24 August. VCI investigators are working without ceasing to trace more suspects.

Despite the breakthrough, we advise vehicle owners to exercise caution and increase security on their property to avoid theft . This is achievable by installing devices such as gear lock, alarm systems, and a tracker. Vehicles must not be left unlocked or in the streets for overnight parking. Proper lighting, fencing and locked gates also go a long way in preventing opportunistic theft.

Hy soek dié wat weggeraak het, gaan haal dié wat verdwaal het, Hy versorg die wonde van dié wat seergekry het, Hy help die swakkes (sien Eseg. 34:16) Hy roep sy skape op hulle name en lei hulle uit (Joh. 10:3). Hy lei hulle na groen weivelde waar hy vir hulle die beste versorging, rus en vrede in oorvloed gee. Die Herder is nooit ver nie. Die Herder is heeltyd betrokke by sy kudde. “Ek is die goeie herder. ‘We’re not nationalising, but distributing … we are giving land to those who will use it,’ ANC national executive committee Ronald Lamola said. South Africans will not wake up to “a free-for-all” after the amendment of section 25 of the constitution allowing government to expropriate land without compensation, the ANC said yesterday.

Ronald Lamola, member of the ANC national executive committee (NEC) and tasked with matters of land reform, said it was a “myth” that land would become freely available in South Africa. “It is not true that you will wake up tomorrow and all land which will be in the hands of the state will be available for free to everyone,” said Lamola. “It does not mean all South Africans will wake up and have land.

“There will still be a need for legislation as to how we’re going to distribute land … it doesn’t mean that everyone will walk into free land … it is not free,” he told the media in Johannesburg following the governing party’s two-day lekgotla in Irene, Pretoria.

Lamola said the programme of transferring land to the black majority was ongoing, but cautioned this won’t be done “willy-nilly”. An advocate, Lamola said when land was under state control, it was not true that it would be given for free. If the land was given for free, government could be sued and forced to pay billions of rands if the matter was challenged in the Constitutional Court because it would be found to be unjust and inequitable. He

said the state would lose and be ordered to pay billions of rands in compensation, “which government does not have”. “So we’re not nationalising, but distributing … we are giving land to those who will use it. “If we give you a farm or an RDP house, you will get a title deed. We are not nationalising the land in this country, because if we do that we will also be dispossessing land from black people who already have land. We can’t nationalise houses or people’s pieces of land.” On Tuesday, Cyril Ramaphosa, in his capacity as ANC president, announced the party resolved to go amend section 25 of the constitution and expropriate land without compensation. Ramaphosa said on TV: “It has become patently clear that our people want the constitution to be more explicit about expropriation of land without compensation, as demonstrated in the public hearings. There is also a growing body of opinion by a number of South Africans that the constitution as it stands does not impede expropriation of land without compensation.

“Accordingly, the ANC will, through the parliamentary process, finalise a proposed amendment to the constitution that outlines more clearly the conditions under which expropriation of land without compensation can be effected.” The ANC was, however, quick to say it was not undermining the ongoing public hearings by the constitutional review committee. OVK presteer weereens danksy diversifikasie

Die landboumaatskappy Oos-Vrystaat Kaap Bedryf Beperk (OVK) het hul finansiële resultate vir 28 Februarie 2018 vrygestel en bekendgemaak dat ʼn rekordwins voor belasting en lojaliteitskema uitkerings van R261.6 miljoen behaal is. Dit dui op ʼn styging van 25.5% teenoor die vorige jaar. Die omvang van besigheid gedoen die afgelope jaar het R 9.1 miljard beloop.

OVK se diversifikasie, beide geografies asook die verskillende besigheidseenhede maak dit een van die mees stabiele en kerngesonde landboubesighede in Suid-Afrika.

OVK is trots daarop dat die meeste van sy aandeelhouers bona-fide landbouprodusente is en dat die hoeveelheid aandeelhouers aan die einde van die 2018 boekjaar tot 12 231 gegroei het. Volgens statistieke het

Suid-Afrika huidig ongeveer 40 000 kommersiële boere, waarvan nagenoeg 30% dus aandeelhouers in OVK is. OVK se aandeelpryse styg deurlopend en dit word ondersteun deur ʼn goeie en konstante winsgeskiedenis. Deur middel van die lojaliteitskema en dividende is daar die afgelope jaar meer as R70 miljoen aan OVK se landbouprodusente en aandeelhouers uitbetaal.

Volgens mnr Stefan Oberholzer, Besturende Direkteur, is OVK dankbaar teenoor die Hemelse Vader en ook elke kliënt vir die jaar se volgehoue ondersteuning. “Ons is opgewonde oor Landbou in Suid-Afrika en ook die jaar wat voorlê. 2. Meanwhile, brown ground beef in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat; drain. Stir into hot rice. Generously fill each pepper with rice mixture. 3. Arrange stuffed peppers in 13 x 9inch baking dish. Bake covered 20 minutes.

Remove cover and continue baking 10 minutes or until peppers are tender. Sprinkle, if desired, with shredded cheddar cheese.
