The Premier of the Free State, Sisi Ntombela,hastoldthemediathatsheis going to commit herself to building a new community hall in memory of the four children who died in a car here in Petsana, just outside Reitz, last month. This incident happened on 26 October 2022 Thefuneralwasheldrecentlyand the Premier was among the mourners

Recently the Reitz Advertiser reported thatthechildren,agedbetween2and4 years old, were found dead after they hadallegedlysuffocatedinanoldcarin which they were playing The children weresupposedtobetakingcareoftheir elderly grandmother. She went searchingforthemafter (continue on Page 4)

(from Page 2) realizing she does not know where they are and she haven’t seen theminawhile.Thechildren who were found suffocated are, Lesedi Mguni (3), Jwalane Goodness (3), Mojalefa Mokoena (4) and Lerato Tshabalala (2), were later found by a family member and emergency services personnel who was called, declared them dead on the scene. During the funeral service that was also attendedbythe Premier,Sisi Ntombela said: “In the next financial year, the government will build a communityhallinPetsanain memoryof the four children.

This was after stating that she was extremely saddened by the incident. Ntombela conveyed her condolencesto the families Shethen added: "Thetragedywhichbefellthe families is difficult to fathom and undoubtedly unbearable to them. Losing a child is every parent's worst nightmare, and I can only imagine what they are going through. She concluded by saying:"Icalluponallpeople in the province to keep the families in our prayers as they cometo termswith this devastation We wish them strength during this difficult timeandmayGod'sloveand mercyshineonthem.
