I can’t identify one specific memory, but I would say my favorite thing about volunteering and being a part of the RLT are the friendships I’ve developed, laughs I have shared, and memories I’ve created with colleagues across the region.

GET TO KNOW YOUR 2022 REGIONAL LEADERSHIP TEAM BROOKLYN BARNES (SHE, HER, HERS)

STUDENT MEMBER Student Building Manager - University of Tennessee, Knoxville What has been your favorite ACUI Memory? My favorite ACUI memory comes from the annual conference held in Chicago this past March. Being back in action as a large group since the spread of COVID-19 began was heartwarming and exciting. The best part was the time we took as an ACUI community to do some service work for local nonprofit organizations in the Chicago area!

ACUI Region III

2022 ANNUAL CONFERENCE REVIEW After 3 years apart, the ACUI community was able to gather in person again in Chicago from March 13 - 16. The conference kicked off with a conference-wide service project that benefitted local partners in the Chicagoland area. We, as a Region then gathered for a quick get together where we were able to catch up with new and old friends alike! Day 1 ended with a reception highlighting the rich food and music culture of Chicago. Day 2 featured many wonderful educational sessions and an All-Conference Session featuring Patrisse Cullors as the Keynote Speaker. Cullors is an author, educator, artist, and abolitionist. During the keynote, Cullors highlighted best practices from her lived experiences. Day 3 began with one of ACUI's favorite traditions - the FUNd Run; which was planned this year by Region III's own James Contratto (University of South Alabama). The Day's AllConference Session was a student panel featuring two students from Region III; Dana London (Kennesaw State University) as the moderator and Tiffany Howard (University of South Alabama) as a panelist. Day 4's All-Conference Session featured Krista Harrell, Ph.D. (University of South Alabama) sharing her experience of what "resilience" means to her in an authentic and encouraging way. The conference ended with a closing banquet highlighting all the wonderful bonds that were made throughout the week as well as honoring this year's award winners and those community members who have passed.
