Super Regional Wrap Up

Updates from our

REGIONAL DIRECTOR

Congratulations! You have almost completed the marathon race of another calendar year. And, if your fall was anything like mine, it was quite the marathon. My campus wraps up classes this week with finals just after and then our students are gone until January. And once again, if your Union/office is anything like mine, you are about to begin the planning/cleaning/let’s get everything we didn’t get done yet, done mode. However, you need to make some time for things you enjoy, things that re-center you, things that cause you to take a deep breath and offer yourself forgiveness. And if you are interested in having a few professional laughs along the way, you should join us for “Worst Practices - What Not to Do and How Not to Do It!” on December 6 at 3pm EST. These are the stories you can never present at a conference but enjoy retelling during social hours at conferences.

Alison Ward Regional Director

Are you a person that sets New Year's Resolutions? A great resolution includes building your skills and expanding your network through volunteering. Additionally, research from the Mayo Clinic found that volunteering offers many benefits, such as Improves physical and mental health, Provides a sense of purpose and teaches valuable skills Nurture new and existing relationships I know I am biased, but ACUI offers a variety of opportunities for involvement but if you want something closer to home, try your PTA, your local Kiwanis, or even a community youth-oriented board. There are volunteer positions for everyone but always remember, find one that you will enjoy! Happy New Year to all, Alison

CONFERENCE

PLANNING TEAM

"I would encourage someone to apply for a volunteer role with ACUI to get better connected with the Association. It is a great way to work on a team with peers from other institutions to reach a common goal (project, conference, work group, etc.). You also can have the ability to try something new that you do not do regularly in your institutional role. There are so many ways to get involved and make a different through volunteering."
