Their mission empowered young women, providing a space for creativity, building self-confidence, and nurturing business acumen. After Tony's passing, Marcia, supported by a circle of dedicated friends and past pageant ambassadors, committed to continuing this mission, today celebrating nearly 40 years in South Florida. The Bakers were among the Vanguards honored by the Jamaican Consulate General in Miami, during the celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of Jamaica’s Independence in the Southern USA. These honorees were acknowledged for their pioneering initiatives at the forefront of several aspects of the rich Jamaican cultural heritage and ‘Brand Jamaica’ being highlighted today in various communities. Affectionately known as Ms. Marcia, her profound commitment transformed young girls, especially first and second-generation Jamaican-Americans, into empowered women of tomorrow. She created a sanctuary where the importance of cultural origins was acknowledged and celebrated, proudly embracing her identity as a Jamaican. Her legacy is unshakable, as described by the many who worked with her on the pageant committees year after year. She shared equally the unbreakable bonds she fostered among

that influential group of women, most of whom supported her throughout years of guidance to countless young women imparting to them the importance of grace and cultural aptitude. She mentored hundreds of pageant entrants, leaving an enduring impact on their lives. Today, many are successful entrepreneurs, professionals, as well as leaders in academia and corporate positions. She was also co-founder of the South Florida chapter of the Rusea’s Old Student’s Association (ROSA) Florida chapter, a non-profit 501(c)(3) association, dedicated to advancing the educational objectives of their alma mater. Founded in 1777, Rusea's High has produced many of Jamaica's top leaders in numerous walks of life and disciplines in its 240 years of existence. She is predeceased by her husband, Anthony Baker; and her parents, Eric George and Myrtle Spence Rigg; her sister, Ouida (Wendy); and her brother, Edmund (Billy). She is survived by her daughters, Andrean and Racquel (Dian), granddaughters Chelsea and Taylor, sisters Joan Tavares, Gean Atherton, Colleen Dacosta, Sharon Vickers, brothers Dennis, Trevor, Carl, Michael, Collin, and other relatives and friends. West Coast Rapper Snoop Dogg has released a strawberry-infused GIN called INDOGGO

Calvin “Snoop Dogg” Broadus, simply put, is an icon and legend of Hip Hop. With a career spanning over 25 years, he has released hit after hit, and is an ever-constant presence in pop culture. Snoop has stayed extremely relevant and, now more than ever, has built a significant multi-cultural and cross-generational following. In 1994 he wrote "Gin & Juice:” it was about good feelings and real experiences; it just naturally became a global anthem. Easy to mix, easy to drink, hard to forget. Healthy Eating AT THE HEART OF THE MATTER

T RY O U R M E N U Bon Appetite

H

ello again RED INK foodies! In this issue we hope you enjoy our wonderful recipe selection for this month. We are always happy to share with our readers a fun recipe for you to try. Enjoy!

Instructions: Step 1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Step 2 Grease a 10-inch bundt pan. Step 3 Sprinkle the bottom of the bundt pan with 1/2 cup walnuts. Step 4 In a large resealable bag, mix the white sugar and the cinnamon. Step 5 Add 10 of the biscuit quarters to the bag with the cinnamon sugar, sealing the bag and shaking it until the pieces are completely coated. Step 6 Add the cinnamon sugar-coated biscuit pieces in a layer to the prepared bundt pan. Step 7 Add 1/4 cup walnuts to the bundt pan. Step 8 Repeat the cinnamon sugar coating process and layering process until all of the biscuit pieces are coated and placed in the bundt pan along with all the walnuts. Step 9 In a medium skillet over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Step 10 Once the butter has melted, stir in the brown sugar and the vanilla extract until combined, about 1 minute. Do not overmix as that can cause the ingredients to separate. Step 11 Pour the brown sugar mixture into the bundt pan over the biscuit pieces. Step 12 Bake until golden brown and the center is no longer doughy, about 30-35 minutes. Step 13 Loosen the edges of the monkey bread with a spatula and let cool in the pan for 5 minutes before turning it out onto a serving plate.

RECIPE:

Nutty Monkey Bread • 1 cup walnuts, chopped and divided • 1 cup white sugar • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon • 2 (16-ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough, pieces quartered • 1 cup salted butter, cut into tablespoon-sized slices • 1 cup packed brown sugar • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Enjoy! *Disclaimer: I am not a physician or medical professional. If you have any medical issues or concerns, please always consult your doctor before committing to a challenge. The challenges are intended for introducing small lifestyle changes in a fun and easy format.

F o r Yo u r P l e a s u r e Aries (Mar 21 - April 19)

February awakens in Aries the ability to empathise with others, which creates a strong friendship with very interesting people. With some, you pass on your experiences to each other, which will move you a bit further in life, and maybe you will connect at work and embark on a joint project.

February will be a month full of work for Taurus. Your motivation to work will multiply, and work will become your main life activity in this period. Thanks to a high dose of determination to work, you will Taurus make high financial incomes, which you will like, and you will constantly move forward. However, be (April 20 - May 20) careful not to overwork; it could backfire on you in the form of a health problem. February will be a gloomy time for Gemini. You will work hard, and then you will not have time for your hobbies and friends. This can affect your mental health, and you will want to shut yourself (May 21 - June 21) off from other people.

Gemini

February will bring Cancer a certain amount of self-confidence, especially at work. You will no longer be afraid to say what you like and what you don't, thanks to which your superiors will start to perceive Cancer you as equal. During this period, you will surprise yourself with your creativity and fresh ideas at work (June 22 - July 22) and in your personal life. In February, Leo will be very creative but at the same time more introverted. There will be some great ideas in your head that you will want to implement. Therefore, this month you better think rationally and properly consider (July 23 - Aug 22) all the pros and cons before embarking on something. February will awaken in Virgo the need to gain publicity and to be right about everything. If someone opposes you during this period, you can get into pointless conflicts. Persuasion will be your strong point, (Aug 23 - Sep 22) especially at work; but don't overdo it, it could have a negative impact on your working relationships.

Virgo

In February, Libra will be overwhelmed with work duties. You will get a lot of tasks from your superior that you will not be able to do, which will cause you stress. Insomnia and headaches may (Sep 23 - Oct 22) also occur, which you should definitely not underestimate.

Libra

In February, communication and negotiation will be the strength of all Scorpios. You will use that mainly at work, where you will achieve some significant success. That will be connected to a good financial Scorpio status and maybe a promotion at work. So you can use this and devote some time and energy (Jan 20 - Feb 18) to your partner. Go for a long weekend together or a holiday, or just make a trip to some wellness retreat where you will feel as if you are in a paradise and you will fully enjoy intimate moments together.

Aquarius

Pisces

February will be more of a calm month for Pisces. You should take care of your health because you will be prone to have problems with your airways. The best thing you can do is skip some (Feb 19 - Mar 20) fun evenings with your friends and improve your sleeping and eating habits. 30
