RICHARD MOLL Played the Giant ‘Bull’ on Night Court, Died at 80

R

ichard Mull, who was born Charles Richard Mull, was born on January 13, 1943 in Pasadena, California. Though Richard has more than a hundred credits on his resume appearing as small roles in dozens of Movies and Television shows and even a few video games, he is best for his role as Bull Shannon on the hit sitcom Night Court which ran from 1984 to 1992. His stature with a height of 6 feet 8 inches was impressive and made his character on night court as the loveable and childish, yet gigantic bailiff Bull that much more memorable. He was probably the character most people remember when they think of Night Court. Prior to night court , Richard was in several movies and Televisions shows, including the biopic film Brigham which was his film debut in 1977, where he played the role of Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As, mentioned he had roles in hundreds of movies and television shows, including the likes of Mork and Mindy, The Facts of Life, Highlander: The Series, Hard Country and so many more. He had a passion for voiceover work as well and he was the voice of Two-Face one of Gotham’s villains in Batman: The Animated Series and he also played the villainous voice of Scorpion in SpiderMan and also the Abomination in The Incredible Hulk animated series. 4

RED INK MAGAZINE

Regardless of the role he played, Moll always applied a bit of a light-hearted attitude into each and every character, even if they were evil. It was just his nature. If there was ever a person who truly personified the idea of a gentle giant, it was Richard Moll. He died on October 28th,

2023 at his home on Big Bear Lake peacefully in the company of his family, the cause of death has not been reported. He was 80 years old. Richard Moll, you will always be remembered fondly by the fans you entertained for decades and of course by your family. Rest In Peace. By Michael Devine

HENRY KISSINGER Former Secretary of State and Political Advisor, Died at 100

L

ike many politicians today, Henry Kissinger was equally praised by his supporters and venomously hated by his critics. However, I think all people can agree that he was a master politician and has left his mark on history with his actions. One of the things he is most notable for, is his work in negotiating the terms of the Paris Peace Accords which effectively ended the United States Military involvement in the Vietnam Conflict, and he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1973 for this work, even though he later offered to return the medal because peace did not last and conflict between North and South Vietnam continued.

8

Henry Alfred Kissinger was born Heinz Alfred Kissinger on May 27th, 1923, in Furth, Bavaria in Germany. He came to the United States as a Jewish Refugee while fleeing Nazi controlled Germany in 1938. He made a splash into the world immediately upon getting to the U.S. He Enlisted in the Army and was soon placed into the Intelligence Division, because of his fluency in German and his high intellect. This position granted him far more authority, power, and experience than his enlisted rank of Private would have otherwise provided. He had an active role in The Battle of the Bulge and in only 2 years he was promoted to commandant of the Bensheim metro CIC (Counter Intelligence) detachment.

RED INK MAGAZINE

After the war was over, he entered and graduated from Harvard with a Master of Arts in Political Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Henry soon joined Harvard as a member of the faculty and became the director of the Harvard International Seminar between 1951 and 1971. His political contributions began at this same time and in 1955, he was a consultant to the National Security Council's Operations Coordinating Board and during 1955 and 1956, he was also the study director in nuclear weapons and foreign policy at the Council on Foreign Relations. His political influence only grew from here. He served as National Security Advisor from 1969 to 1975 and as Secretary of State from 1973 to 1977 under the administrations of both President

Richard Nixon and President Gerald Ford. During his tenure he assisted in negotiating ceasefires, peace talks and foreign policy in general on every major world campaign, including The Arab-Israeli Conflict, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Russia and the Cold War, former Yugoslavia, Cuba, Argentina and Chile and many other nations around the globe. To put it simply, throughout his life, even after leaving office, Henry Kissinger was involved in U.S. Foreign Policy and negotiations towards peace in almost every major world conflict, from the 1970’s until the present. Kissinger as recently as last year, in 2022, at the age of 99, spoke at the World Economic Forum on the matters concerning Russia and Ukraine. Continues..on page 10 9

RED INK MAGAZINE

Continued...from page 9

Aside from his vast political career, Henry Kissinger also had a vast public and academic career. He served on the board of directors of Freeport-McMoRan, a multinational copper and gold producer with large interests in Indonesia, after which the President of Indonesia, Abdurrahman Wahid, appointed Kissinger as a political advisor. He then, in 1998, was made one of the five honor members of the IOC, (International Olympic Committee) during the “2002 Olympic Bid Scandal” where the United States was improperly accused of bribery. He also served as Chancellor of the College of William and Mary, a position that was also held by Margaret Thatcher and Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. In November 2002, he was appointed by President George W. Bush to chair the newly established National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States to investigate the September 11 attacks; however, he had to resign the position when he refused to give up his list of clients all over the world. The list of accomplishments and accolades goes on and on. Henry Kissinger was nothing short of a Political Genius and Hero throughout his 100 years on this Earth. His influence has been a part of every major foreign policy both in the United States and in other countries across the globe for the last five decades. Mr. Kissinger, your life was one for the record books, your influence further reaching than most sitting Presidents, and your push for World Peace will forever be inspirational. You will be missed by your family and by the world, however your influence will continue to live on in spirit and policy. May you Rest in Peace Good Sir. By Michael Devine

Continued...from page 12 Red Ink Magazine had the absolute pleasure of asking Jaddon a few questions, this is what this amazing, incredibly talented Singer/Songwriter, told us. REDINK: Who or what influenced you to become an artist and when did it all happen? J: My life experience is the source of my creative influence and it started as a child. I’ve been inspired by a lot of artists during different chapters of my life. At home my mom played a lot of Celine Dion, Barry White & Michael Bolton just to name a few. There were a lot of sound systems in my community in Canaan Heights, Clarendon. Everyday I could hear all the great works of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown and so many legends. I also watched a lot of great local talent perform at local stage shows. On the radio there were so many great artists: like Bounty Killer, Shabba Ranks, Beenie Man. Each artist brought their own unique style of storytelling. It was exciting growing up in Jamaica, I was deeply immersed in great music. From a young age I was aware how good music made me feel. Whenever I would hear it or see it being performed it would give i n i great joy. REDINK: Tell us some pros and cons you have encountered in the industry. J: Some of the pros I have encountered are the opportunities of this digital age: the ability for I, as an independent artist to take control of my career and the access to social media marketing. The barriers of entry into the music business that were imposed based on capital and industry links can now be overcome in creative ways using technology. The resources to learn about the business are more accessible. We can get real time data about our stats around the world. We have online access to Performance Rights Organizations at our fingertips to ensure that the business side of things are in place. The cons now are that as a small entity, building from scratch still requires a significant amount of resources to stand out in an oversaturated market REDINK: What advice would you give to a young artist starting up in the industry today? J: As my manager would say “Be yourself”. It’s important to have high self esteem and to believe in your music and how you do it. In the beginning when you are fresh and new, it will take time for the people to start recognizing you, your sound, what you are about.

14

Sometimes you can misjudge too soon that people don’t like what you are doing. That happens due to lack of self-belief. Confidence and knowing who you are as a person is key. Authenticity resonates universally. REDINK: Tell us about your new single “Pain”. J: This single Pain is about loss. It’s about losing a loved one. When you lose a loved one there is both emotional and physical Pain that you feel. That searing knitted feeling in your chest…makes you ask yourself “what can I do with this pain?”. The challenging reality that you will never see your loved one again. I learnt through the healing process of creating this single that life is about how we channel our Pains. That Pain is an energy that can be used to uplift yourself and others experiencing the same. In order to get that strength you have to walk through the Pain… walk through the fire. This song is meant to inspire one’s to be resilient. To challenge Pain and not suppress it. REDINK: What are you working on now? J: I’m always working on promoting my brand and my all musical works. My breakthrough song Congo Bongo was released 6 years ago and it’s continuing to grow and garner a strong Fan base. So I have to continue supporting and campaigning my projects. On my recent album “i” I have a few music videos that I am working on manifesting. I’m currently expanding my Broomie™ music merchandise, which is inspired by “Broomie” off my sophomore album “i”. My music

merchandise is currently available in 6 gift shops in some of Jamaica’s most popular tourist hubs: Ocho Rios Andy’s Gift Shop & Souvenirs in the Taj Mahal Shopping Center. In Montego Bay Rainbow Stores in the Blue Diamond Shopping Mall and Reggae Styles Gift Shop in Whittier’s Village Shopping Mall. In Falmouth they are available at Rainbow Stores (Falmouth). And in Kingston at the historic Devon House, The Gift Shop (Shop #4) and at Craft Cottage Jamaica at Shoppes at Southdale Plaza. I’m very focused on building my brand as an artist and music entrepreneur. REDINK: What can we expect from you next? J: You can expect

to see an expansion of the Broomie™. We are working to make our products available worldwide. I look forward to connecting with more youth through my broom-making workshops. I have a platform and I feel that it is my duty to use it to not only empower myself but also my community and others around. I want to instill a sense of respect for our local broommaking trade and the Jamaican broom itself. My ambition is transform this local commodity into a cultural tourism artifact that will transform this cottage industry into a professional trade. In terms of music, my new single “Pain” marks the beginning of a new body of work, to move forward in the near future. u By Jennifer Cheshire (Reggaewerx PR) This concludes our interview with Jahdon. we hope you enjoy our wonderful recipe selection for this month. We are always happy to share with our readers a fun recipe for you to try. Enjoy!

Instructions: Step 1 Preheat the broiler. Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Toss the chicken with the paprika, 1 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper in a large bowl. Place the chicken skin-side down in the skillet and cook undisturbed until the skin is golden but not too dark, 4 to 5 minutes. Remove the chicken to a plate using a metal spatula and add the remaining 1 tablespoon oil to the skillet. Step 2 Add the carrots, celery and shallots to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened but not yet turning golden, 4 to 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic, thyme, oregano, lemon zest, lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper and cook just until you begin to smell the garlic, about 1 minute. Stir in the rice and cook undisturbed until lightly toasted, about 2 minutes. Pour in the broth, add 1/2 teaspoon salt and stir to combine, then add the chicken thighs back to the pan, skin-side up. Bring the liquid to a boil then cover, reduce the heat to a simmer and cook until the rice is tender and the chicken is cooked through, 15 to 20 minutes. Step 3 Remove the lid from the pan and broil until the chicken skin is crispy and golden, 2 to 3 minutes. Sprinkle with the chives.
