AMANDA COOKSEY
A
manda Cooksey was born and raised in Orlando, Florida where she sang, took piano lessons and wrote songs. This lead her to Ron Feldman, a vocal and piano instructor and his guidance eventually landed Amanda on NSAI’s Ones To Watch list in 2013. During this time, Amanda participated in pagents, leading her to get involved with Make A Wish Foundation, Ovarian Cancer Alliance and Tunes for Tots to fundraise for various cancer foundations. With Ron’s encouragement, Amanda decided she wanted to attend Belmont University, where she earned two degrees in Business Administration and Songwriting. Shortly after starting college, her mentor, Ron, was diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away. To this day, Amanda credits him for her successes. Before starting classes in Nashville, Amanda connected with hit writers Marty Dodson and Clay Mills, who soon became her mentors, as well as Rick Barker, who helped Amanda with her social media following and navigating the music industry. Through GRAMMY U, Amanda was mentored by Marc Driskill at Sea Gayle Music and had her song “Found Her Freedom,” written with Dallas Remington, published in Music Row Magazine. During the songwriting program, she attended Durango Songwriters Expo, where her song “Girl in the Mirror,” won second place in their Write A Hitmaker contest. After graduating, Amanda worked part-time in A&R and PR at Demolition Music where she continues to manage their catalog. She is constantly increasing her fan base through playing music on Facebook and Instagram Live, where her rendition of Louis Tomilson’s “Just Like You” received praise from Louis himself and was featured in Glamour. Her previous singles have been supported by Radio Disney Country and Spotify editorial playlists such as Wild Country, Pop-Co and Young Nashville. She recently received her Master’s in Public relations from the University of Florida and continues to be creative every day, humbled by every opportunity that comes her way through doing what she loves. 1. I grew up in Orlando, Florida. Yes, I went to Disney a lot as a kid. If you were wondering, yes, I STILL have an annual pass to Islands Of Adventure and Universal even though I live in Nashville now. My brother and I go almost every time I am home, and we can quote most of the dialogue on the rides. 2. I started singing in church and writing songs for fun when I was in fifth grade, but have played piano since the age of six. I taught myself guitar in middle school until I found a teacher to help guide me when I was fourteen. 4 4
RED INK MAGAZINE
3. I was voted a “one to watch” songwriter by Nashville Songwriter’s Association International in 2013. 4. I am inspired by all types of music! I listen to 50’s music all the way up through what’s on the radio today. However, I draw most of my inspiration from artists like Walker Hayes, Colbie Caillat, Julia Michaels, Ariana Grande, Khalid, and Kacey Musgraves. 5. I am fortunate to have played multiple shows in Florida at places/venues like the Florida Music Festival, Deland Songwriter’s Music Festival, Daytona Music Festival, BB Kings, The Dubliner, The VIP lounge at the Sounds of Summer Tour with Dierks Bentley, Kip Moore, Maddie & Tae, and Canaan Smith, and was blessed to open for Michael Ray in his hometown of Eustis at Boleros Cigar Bar with other incredible songwriter. 6. You could say I am a textbook nerd. I graduated from Belmont University in two years with a Business Administration degree and went back a semester later and received a Songwriting degree as well. I am currently working on my Masters in Public Relations online through the University of Florida. Go Gators! 7. If you thought I couldn’t get nerdier, you’re wrong! I am also obsessed with anything SyFy or superhero related. While we are on the topic of movies, I also love Horror films! 8. I recently won second place in the Write With A
Hitmaker Songwriting contest and fourth place in the Music City Song Star contest for my single, “Girl In The Mirror”. You can find it on Spotify, Amazon, and iTunes! 9. You can find me playing at places in Nashville such as The Listening Room, Belcourt Taps, Opry Mills Mall, The Row, Alley Taps, and The Commodore Grille. 10. My piano instructor, Ron Feldman, was one of my biggest inspirations. He pushed me to try out for my eighth grade talent show. The year before, I ran out of the same audition crying due to all of the nerves. Without him, I don’t know if I would be pursuing music today. He pushed me outside of my comfort zone and taught me to chase my dreams no matter how big they seemed. Ron passed away from cancer right before I moved to Nashville in 2014. Rest in peace. 11. I have my own 501c3 called Manda’s Musical Hope that raises money and awareness through musical performances for organizations that support cancer research. Too many people in my life have been affected by this terrible illness, and I want to help find a cure. 12. My family means the world to me. I would not be where I am at today without them. 13. I look forward to getting to know you! Stop by my Facebook and Instagram Lives on Wednesday night, and say hello! Also, check me out on YouTube! I love covering new songs and doing fun makeup tutorials. 5

Rapper Who Dominated Billboard Charts, Died at 50
D
MX, born
Earl Simmons, has died after suffering a catastrophic heart attack and spending several days on life support. Earl had a troubled youth, He had an abusive mother and wound up in a children’s home. At the ripe young age of 14 one of his childhood mentors, Ready Ron, laced some marijuana blunts with Crack/Cocaine without Earl’s knowledge and got him hooked on drugs. This addiction plagued DMX for his entire life. That being said, DMX credited Ready Ron as being the man that inspired him to be the rapper and man that had such an incredibly successful career, but also credited him as being the man that introduced him to his greatest Demon, crack cocaine. In light of everything, DMX was a man who learned on the streets and through his experiences how to persevere and how to be powerful and successful, regardless of any darkness he battled behind the scenes. DMX was an immediate and instant success with his first album “It’s Dark and Hell is Hot” hitting number one on the Billboard Charts. This success would continue and earn him incredible respect in the HipHop community. He became the first rapper to have his first four albums debut at no.1 on the Billboard Charts and then right after Jay-Z had his 5th album debut at no.1, DMX followed right behind and became the second rapper to have his first 5 albums debut at number one on the charts. This was in the late 90’s and early 2000’s when Rap and Hip-Hop were just starting to become the most popular music genre that they are today. So when thinking in those terms, DMX was truly a pioneer and one of the first true masters of the Rap and Hip-Hop craft.. Continues...on page 10

He went on to create many hits that dominated the airwaves and the club scene; some of the biggest he is known for are “Party Up (Up In Here),” “Get At Me Dog,” and “X Gon' Give It to Ya.” I don’t think there is a person alive that can say they have never heard one of these songs. They have been radio mainstays and in movie soundtracks for decades. Alongside his trailblazing music career, that got him three Grammy Nominations and earned him an American Music Award for best Hip-Hop Artist in 2000, he was also a talented actor. He stormed onto the Hollywood scene, co-starring, in the movie Belly. And then he co-starred alongside Jet Li and Aaliyah in the martial arts / action movie Romeo Must Die. Overall DMX has 59 actor credits on IMDB. 10
Considering the dangerous struggles that DMX faced behind the scenes with his drug addiction, the level of strength and perseverance that he demonstrated to lead such an incredibly successful career over the last three decades is nothing short of amazing. If nothing else, it is clear that Earl Simmons, was someone who knew how to fight and soldier on regardless of any of the challenges in his life. DMX, Earl Simmons, you will be missed. Your Rap and Hip-Hop career is one of the most legendary out there, and you created the standards that all Hip-Hop artists have been striving to achieve. You will live on forever in the hearts and souls of your family and friends, and all of the peers that you have inspired. Your struggle with the demon is over, may you rest in peace. PRINCE PHILIP The Duke of Edinburgh, died at age 99
P
rince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh died April 9th at the age of 99. Most people of this generation know Prince Philip for being the Queen’s Consort; her loyal husband that accompanied her on every trip and was present in every scene. He was always by her side and at her service. He truly lived to support her and to support the Throne. However, Prince Philip was so much more than that, and throughout his life he had earned prestigious accolades, created and supported many foundations and organizations and earned the highest ranks in the Royal Navy. Marrying the Princess, who later became the Queen of England, was not his first foray into the royal world. Prince Philip Mountbatten was born Philippos Schleswig-Holstein Sonderburg-Glucksburg on June 12th, 1921 on the Island of Corfu in Greece, he was the only son of Prince Andrew of Greece and Princess Alice of Battenberg making him the Prince of both Greece and Denmark. However that title would be short lived, as his family was dethroned in a coup d'état and marked for death, forcing them to flee their home. Philip was only a year and half old at the time, and as such did not have the royal childhood he deserved. They fled to Italy, and things spiraled downhill from there, his mother had a mental break trying to process the events of her life and was committed to an asylum when he was eight years old, and his father abandoned him soon after to move with his mistress to the south of France. But these tough times did not stall his personal growth and progress. And he credits that to his time at the Scottish boarding school, Gordonstoun, he attended. It was here that he learned to be self-reliant and focus on both his mind and body,
14
because the school had a notorious curriculum of higher education, and also a spartanesque physical fitness requirement to the program as well. His time at this school is what created his stalwart personality and strong physique. It was due to his intense training at school that when he moved to England to join the Royal Navy under the tutelage and command of his Uncle “Dickie” Mountbatten. Under this command he would become the youngest person to achieve the rank of First Lieutenant in the Royal Navy. It was also here that he would meet the true love of his life. His Uncle was assigned to keep watch over the young Princess Elizabeth when King George VI toured the Naval College at Dartmouth. Philip was ordered by his uncle to entertain the young princess, which led to him showing off to her and in turn earning her fancy. Upon their engagement he was told by the King he would have to denounce any claims to the thrones or titles of Greece and Denmark and he would have to naturalize as a Brit. He also had to change his name to a more British name so he adopted the name of his mother’s family Mountbatten. Upon their wedding day he was granted the title Duke of Edinburgh.
RED INK MAGAZINE
Not long after marrying the future queen Philip earned his first command of the vessel HMS Magpie. He attained the rank Lieutenant Commander. However this was short-lived, because just one year later he would have to take leave from the Navy because his Princess bride had just become Queen when illness took her father. From that moment on Philips life would change forever and he would become the Queen’s Consort. However a year later Prince Philip was promoted to the rank of Commander in the Navy, and another year later in 1953 he was given honorary five-star appointments in all three services, being made an Admiral of the Fleet, British Army Field Marshal and Royal Air Force Marshal. And in 2011, the Duke of Edinburgh would be granted the title and office of Lord High Admiral, the head of the Royal Navy. Throughout his life, Prince Philip had a focus on sports, fitness and education. He was a professional Polo player winning many prestigious cups and being ranked among the top 5 greatest players in the country, whilst being the Queen’s Consort. After retiring from active polo play after an injury, he still remained active in the sport and active in promoting fitness and education to youths around the world. He wanted everyone to have the opportunity to be the best man they could be. He sponsored hundreds of programs and organizations that promote athletics for young men and to this day the Duke of Edinburgh award challenge is one of the most prestigious accomplishments that a young person can earn. It requires them to reach milestones in Education, Athletics, World Travel/Expedition and Social Community Betterment. Aside from the vast accolades in sports and the military, Prince Philip is probably most renowned for changing many of the “stuffy, old-fashioned” processes in the Royal Castle Windsor. Not being raised like a “Royal” he was often seen as rough and uncouth, however he was also known for his loyalty and integrity as a man, so he was still respected and his requests for changes were always taken seriously. Among those changes, he championed the idea of the Queen having informal luncheons with people outside the royal status. He made sure the kitchens in the castle served the same food quality to everyone
including the staff. He was also known for upgrading the ancient castle with modern amenities like a robotic closet and intercoms so that staff would not have to run with notes. He made it so the royal staff no longer had to powder their hair. He was also the man behind the well-known documentary called Royal Family that aired in 1969 on BBC and showed a behind the scenes intimate look at the Queen and the castle, letting people outside know that behind closed doors was a family more normal than one might think. This helped bridge the social divide between Royal family and commoner. Philip went everywhere with Queen and as the longest serving Royal Consort in British history he appeared in over twenty thousand solo engagements, ribbon cuttings, ceremonies, etc. And he visited over 143 countries. In one small island nation, Vanuatu, he was even revered by a small tribe as the reincarnation of an ancient warrior and is hence viewed as a God-like being there. He has been a founding member or leading member or president of over 700 organizations around the world. And most notably, many world leaders remember the Duke as a man ahead of his time, because he was one of the first political leaders in the world to champion efforts for environmental
preservation, the protection of endangered species and he is one of the first men of power to discuss and talk about the dangers of pollution and greenhouse gases. Without a doubt, Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh was not just the stoic face at the side of his Queen. He was a decorated war hero and military leader; he was an adept athlete with many prestigious cups and awards across Polo, Carriage Racing and Sailing Regattas. He was a self-made man that brought himself up in life, he was an inspiration to men and children around the world, and he was a Champion for the preservation of the Earth and the natural world. The Duke helped bridge the social gap between the classes of Britain and he helped bring the Royal Family technologically into the 21st Century. His accolades are too much to list in this brief tribute. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh you lived an incredible long life of 99 years and you did not squander any of that time, as your accomplishments clearly show. You sir were a great man and your legacies will live on forever. By Michael Devine u

APACHE WARIA West Indian Artist from Guyana
pache Waria was born in Berbice, Guyana. At the tender age of 5, he migrated with his father and brother to New York. The family settled down in Queens, New York where he attended Susan B Anthony Academy Middle School and Hillcrest High School. It was a big adjustment for a lad coming from a small tropical South American country with a population under a million to a country with over two hundred million at that time, not forgetting the four seasons. He adapted well to a predominantly Caucasian neighborhood and had his fair share of being looked upon as an outsider. Indo Guyanese were more prevalent in Richmond Hill aka “little Guyana”, which is about three miles away from his home. Here's his story in his own words: Guyanese nightclubs opened up in the late ’80s along with bars, West Indian grocery stores, and boutiques. There was a splinter of Guyanese stores far and few in between since the ‘70s in the Richmond Hill/Jamaica area. Apache remembers going to the Guyanese nightclubs, something he described as an ordeal. The clubs had a strict policy on identification admission however getting a fake ID was never an issue because, for ten dollars, he was able to secure one on the street. The music at the clubs was beyond anything he had heard before because of how professional the sound system was playing. Reggae/dancehall music was the popular genre at the time and Apache gravitated towards the beats and rhythm. Chutney music was another type of music that was foreign to him, but he was introduced to it later on when he met the King of Chutney “Sundar Popo”, and “Anand Yankaran”. He would often attend parties and weddings when his DJ friends were hired to play and the exposure of the music grew on him. Sometimes he would be left alone to DJ, while his friends took breaks or while they were dancing. He remembers playing music from icons like King Yellow Man, Jose Wale, Bob Marley, and others. He was a big fan of Yellow Man. In 1992, his brother “Arawak Indian”, started his music career as a professional singer and around this

same junction, their parents moved them to Bushwick, Brooklyn hoping to keep them out of gangs and away from bad friends. This move backfired as the area was worse than where they previously lived in Queens. In 1993, they moved back to Queens. When they lived in Brooklyn, his brother had a little DJ set that he would practice on. Apache told himself, “if this guy can sing, I can do it too”. Whenever his brother was not at home, he would steal his brother’s lyrics and get on his sound system and practice. There was a lot of trial and error to get his beats right, but eventually, he was able to master it in a few months. That same year, he went to his cousin’s house in New Jersey where he met reggae singer Jermon, aka Mr. Solo from the “Culture Posse”. The “Culture Posse” was made up of one Jamaican, one Guyanese, and one Haitian. Apache started practicing with Mr. Solo almost every other weekend. He credits a lot of what he knows about music today to those sessions with Mr. Solo and to this day he is still close with him and considers him to be family.

In 1994, the year was a breakout for Apache’s budding talent. He was at a Trinidadian roti shop on Jamaica Avenue, New York sitting with his friends eating and beating a table freestyling when Indra of JMC - records introduced herself to him and made him aware that she was in the Chutney industry producing singers like the legendary Sundar Popo, Anand Yankaran, and others. She asked him if he would be a part of her upcoming chutney event. He didn't know much about chutney music at the time, but he accepted her offer and performed alongside the legendary Anand Yankaran. It was a sold-out event! After the show, Mr. and Mrs. Jaikaran asked him if he could collaborate on a project with them. He was very excited and said yes, and that was the first time he experienced the inside of a music studio. After the song “Lovinda Baby” was released, Apache was offered a ten-year contract with JMC records. He turned the contract down for a number of reasons, including the lack of monetary compensation, exclusive performance rights, and more. Performing alongside Anand was the initial breakthrough to get the awareness of what the chutney market encompassed. Albeit he was not singing chutney music, he was still able to perform on the grand stage. After leaving JMC records, he joined his brother “Arawak Indian”, at Ashely Enterprise where he recorded two dancehall tracks, “Wining Baby” and “Dem a Talk”, at Kingston studio in Brooklyn, NY. The two tracks were hits in the West Indian market. Apache started doing shows for Ashely Enterprise and met other artistes and promoters and in 1995, he started recording with many local and international artistes. One of the main studios that he started working with after leaving Ashely Enterprise was JKS studio with Mr. 20
Jay Kewla. He produced over 20 songs including songs like "Guyanese Woman", "Love Me Country Bad", "Mr. Mention" with Arawak, "Medley Style", "Indian Medley" with Seeta Panday, "Wine and Go Down" with Terry Gajraj, and the list goes on. 'Wine and Go Down”, is still playing globally in different and medley styles especially at Guyanese weddings. Apache had a rough start in his career trying to get his music played on Guyanese stations. They often refused to play his music, citing the lyrics and beats as inappropriate for public radio. One host, Herman Singh, was willing to support him and play his music. While Mr. Singh received some backlash for this decision, Apache’s music was eventually picked up DJ Freddy of JMC Radio (a Trinidadian station). After that, Apache approached a few other Guyanese stations to play his music but was met with rejection after rejection, some of these stations even wanted him to pay eighty dollars per song to have it played! Apache mostly performed for Guyanese and Trinidadian fans, but in 1995 he experienced one of his biggest performing years. A band came from Holland and was looking for a bubbling singer to perform on a few shows. Roshan Ali was the promoter for that event. Apache started touring on a few shows in the USA and Canada with the band and met a Dutch promoter from Krishna Arts Promotion. He was impressed with Apache’s performance and invited him to tour Holland. Apache had no idea where Holland was at that time, but he did remember that his mother bought Holland powdered milk when they lived in Guyana. Nevertheless, he accepted the invitation to tour. He did some research alongside his promoter to see which style of music he should perform.
RED INK MAGAZINE
Apache’s first show was in Rotterdam in January of 1996. He was the first Guyanese to perform on a main platform in Holland with an audience of over 100,000. He was originally booked for two shows but as other promoters came to his events and watched his performance, they reached out to his promoter to book him for private and stage events like Melan, beach parties, etc. What was supposed to be one week in Holland became six weeks of non stop performance and recordings. Apache ended up doing a live recording in Holland with the “Get Rhythm Band”. That CD was registered under Stemra and was on the top 40 European charts for six weeks in a row. He was also approached by a mainstream producer to re-record "Wine and Go Down" in a techno beat, but was unable to do that because he was still under contract with Krishna Arts. After his contract ended in 2001, he never resigned. He wanted to do something else and was getting tired of the music. He did not want to do it full-time anymore. Nevertheless, he continued doing shows in Holland for different promoters like Roshnie Promotions, Temptation, Krishna Arts, and others. He performed in Holland, Germany, Euro Disney, England, and other countries. He came back into the West Indian music scene in 2005 - 2006 and started
doing shows and recordings all over again. He decid ed to not do it full time but resorted to doing it as only a hobby. Apache tried to limit himself with shows and refused to sign any contracts. When he started performing in the West Indian market again, people asked why he’d stopped singing for so many years. The thing is, he had never stopped, he was just in a different part of the world performing. From 2006 - 2019, Apache’s heart and soul were not fully in his music and he had too many personal issues happening at the same time. From 2020 and beyond, he became a born-again artiste. Now he has committed that any music he releases must be up to par or else it will not see the light, especially in 2021. The toxic circle that he was a part of is no longer there to corrupt his freedom of expression and mindset. He is currently working on professional music in Holland, Suriname, and Trinidad, and he has some exciting plans to collaborate with some big names in the music business. Apart from recordings, he started promoting his own shows and has self-nominated himself as a mentor for upcoming artistes. He offers a special thanks to his fans and producers/promoters who were an integral part of his musical journey. u 21

West Coast Rapper Snoop Dogg has released a strawberry-infused GIN called INDOGGO
Calvin “Snoop Dogg” Broadus, simply put, is an icon and legend of Hip Hop. With a career spanning over 25 years, he has released hit after hit, and is an ever-constant presence in pop culture. Snoop has stayed extremely relevant and, now more than ever, has built a significant multi-cultural and cross-generational following. In 1994 he wrote "Gin & Juice:” it was about good feelings and real experiences; it just naturally became a global anthem. Snoop has always wanted to create his own spirits brand, so it was only fitting that he created the world’s best tasting gin. In his quest for flava, he remixed seven botanicals, and infused natural fruit flavors, thus creating his masterpiece. This juicy gin, with its laidback California style, is like no other gin in the world. It’s gluten free, low calorie with no sugar, and will leave you wanting more. Easy to mix, easy to drink, hard to forget. Orders will start shipping early October or as soon as it becomes available in your market. F o r Yo u r P l e a s u r e A sudden opportunity may significantly affect your life. Your monthly horoscope indicates out-of-theblue luck or a change of fortune for the better. Confusing, even disconcerting situations in which you Aries have felt trapped may suddenly change. The monthly Cosmos influence helps you break out of nebulous (Mar 21 - April 19) situations and get your life going forward again. You approach one of the most profound times of the year . May 2021 is a powerful and intense time representing a “portal” through which you can now pass. Issues of money, sex, and trust are likely now. Feelings Taurus flood to the surface. Bless the old. Embrace the new. Get out of a bad situation by using your will to make it (April 20 - May 20) happen. Gemini, you should enjoy the month of May. You are on an intellectual roll as Venus in Gemini perks up your mind, bringing a new sense of intellectual excitement. Gathering new data and information sets the stage for a Gemini breakthrough now. You are able to think fresh solutions to old problems. Don’t waste this time being rigid or (May 21 - June 21) conditioned to old mindsets. The garden metaphor is an accurate portrayal of your life now. The reason? The month of May, with the Sun’s transit of Taurus, allows you to feel connected to your life through the earth, its many moods, Cancer its seasons. You can touch again what is essential. This is especially so near the lunar eclipse on May (June 22 - July 22) 26. It is time to give more structural shape to your garden (or life), weed out and plant. Keep your “bull—-” detector tuned this month as the planets challenge you, especially those born the first week of August. You may come into contact with those who want to take advantage of you, seduce or sweet-talk you (July 23 - Aug 22) into something that is not good for you. Circumstances become nebulous, confusing, or you receive mixed messages. Be aware of shady characters or situations that feel weird.
Leo
Resist getting drawn into your own mental garbage. This advice is especially so for those born the first week of September. You are prone to get sucked into your chronic worry scenarios, feel overwhelmed with far too many details and react abruptly or critically. It doesn’t all have to get done today. Slow down and (Aug 23 - Sep 22) breathe. Take one step at a time.
Virgo
What goes around, comes around is an apt description of your love life now. From May 18 through June 29 is the perfect time to more clearly understand your current love life by taking time to review your past love history. Or, past actions come home to roost. Old love issues and patterns surface once (Sep 23 - Oct 22) again. Past lovers may reappear, especially those with whom you have unfinished business.
Libra
Scorpios swim in turbulent waters now as the lunar eclipse stirs up your Sun on May 26. Important life issues come to a head with tensions at their peak. What issues manifested at the last lunar eclipse ? They reappear, especially if they were ignored in the fall. Hopefully, you will not be too difficult or (Oct 23 - Nov 21) destructively dramatic. Face what comes with honesty and compassion. Soften rather than harden. Be willing to forgive and be forgiven. Simplify rather than complicate.
Scorpio
Your May Horoscope 2021 elevates your mind and lifts you up from the deep inward journey you have been on. This is the time to lighten your psychological load, to synthesize and summarize your understanding of (Nov 22 - Dec 21) your deep and essential needs. Glimpses of your future are possible from your own inner guidance. Astrology, tarot, or palmistry readings may be uncannily accurate.
Sagittarius
Capricorn
Capricorns love order and the feeling of relief when everything is in its place. All Capricorns, but especially those born the first week of January, benefit now by bringing order and renewed strength to your life. Early May is one of (Dec 22 - Jan 19) the best times to sort through your stuff and get rid of all you can. Unburden your load by spring-cleaning. Sort four piles: keepers, possible keepers, useful giveaways, and garbage.
Aquarius
Be careful to not bet on the wrong horse in May. Avoid any new “too good to be true” pitches at this time,
(Jan 20 - Feb 18) especially if anyone seems “shady.” Avoid committing your time and energy to a floundering ship, for exam-
ple, a company that cannot be rescued. Or is known for taking advantage of employees. May 2021 is one time period to use caution with important decisions, especially mid month. You are more vulnerable and gullible so you can be suckered, sweet-talked or taken advantage of now. Be as truthful as you can. Stay away (Feb 19 - Mar 20) from co-dependent or untrustworthy others. Take time to get to know anyone you meet for the first time this month. Trust your intuition if you feel a warning sign. Use your discrimination.

MICHAEL COLLINS A National Hero and the Pilot of the Apollo 11 Moon Mission, dead at 90
1930 - 2021
M
ichael Collins, the pilot of the Columbia spacecraft used in the Apollo 11 moon Landing Mission has died at age 90. When people think of Apollo 11, they think of Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong because they were the ones who touched down on the moon and got to walk on a celestial body, but the real backbone of the operation was Michael Collins. He was the man that had to maintain control of the Columbia space shuttle and pilot it around the moon several times and then dock with the moon lander, catching the other astronauts before they drifted off into space; hence making it a successful mission. Before Apollo 11, Collins was the pilot on Gemini 10. In that mission they had to dock with their Agena booster which was the first time it was attempted to dock with a booster mid-flight in order to achieve higher altitudes, and at the same time they were going to attempt to dock with a second derelict Agena booster that was left in orbit from the Gemini 8 mission. Michael Collins, piloted the shuttle and achieved both dockings and became the first man to rendezvous with a passive object in space, the first man to fire the Agena Rocket to self-propel to higher altitudes and the third person to ever spacewalk. After Apollo 11, Collins was nodded by President Nixon to become the Assistant Secretary of State. However after two years another opportunity more
kin to his passion presented itself and he jumped at the opportunity. He became the Director of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and was the man responsible for building it from the ground up. Being a pilot and going into space were the only things in life he ever wanted to do, so the position was a perfect fit and it shows how much passion he put into that project when you go the museum today. One thing Michael Collins was always known for was being a promoter for the exploration of outer space. He was quoted after returning from his first time in orbit as saying, “Exploration is not a choice, really, it's an imperative,” and “What would be worth recording is what kind of civilization we Earthlings created and whether or not we ventured out into other parts of the galaxy.” Michael Collins was one of the pioneering astronauts that were the first men to travel to the moon. The space program would not be what it is today if not for those heroes. He was a huge proponent of space exploration, and he became the person that helped preserve the history of aviation and space exploration as Director of the Air and Space Museum. He was truly an American Hero and will be remembered as such by everyone because of his accomplishments. Rest in peace and Godspeed on your explorations outside of this world. You will be missed. We Salute You. By Michael Devine u 31
