DAVID HINCHLIFFE
From running a city to painting it, Hinchcliffe has taken his vision of Brisbane to the world, and painted the landscapes of global cities including New York, Paris, London and Venice. Hinchliffe subscribes to the philosophy that an artist’s job is to help people to see the world in a different way.
“I try to capture the mood of a place and my work is unapologetically optimistic and positive. I like the subjects I paint – that’s why I paint them. I’m less interested in detail and much more interested in capturing the moment and the feel of being in that space.
My greatest joy is creating a painting for people that gives them pleasure, maybe even a tear or two of joy - the times that has happened over the last 15 years are countless and make me truly grateful for my job as an artist.” ~

David Hinchliffe has been painting, exhibiting, and selling his work in galleries since the age of 12. He trained under Brisbane artist, John Rigby, and also studied under premier Australian landscape artist and Archibald prize-winner, William Robinson. David furthered his practical artistic study in both New York and London in the ‘70s before returning home to pursue a career in politics.
He was elected as a Councillor in Brisbane City Council in 1988 and served in various capacities, including as Deputy Mayor, for 23 years. Described by the late James Gleeson as having an "exceptional talent", he has emerged from three decades of work in the public domain to return with renewed passion to his career as a painter. His style has been described as "contemporary impressionism".
David’s paintings are influenced by his career in urban government. He draws inspiration from the streets, laneways, footpaths and urban settings of the cities he loves – Paris, New York, Venice and his hometown Brisbane, Australia. He has just completed his 100th exhibition which was held at Red Hill Gallery, Brisbane - in a career that has spanned more than 40 years.
Tracey Lennon
Tracey has studied Art, Interior Design and Illustration. She’s worked as a retail designer and a scenic artist. She’s exhibited at Brisbane Grammar, Clayfield College, Stuartholme and Brookfield Art shows and the Rotary Art Spectacular.

Geraldine Mackenzie
Geraldine Mackenzie is Brisbane born, currently living and working in Toowoomba. Her creative practice draws inspiration from the interplay of light and shade with natural and built forms. She paints landscapes, parkscapes, cityscapes and seascapes in acrylics and oils.
With a strong sense of place, her work is grounded in the everchanging and diverse Queensland landscape, and inspired by narratives of city and country, journeys and different paths. Tutored by well-known Brisbane artist David Hinchliffe, he remains a mentor and major influence.
Favourite subjects are urban landscapes and parks in South East and South West Queensland, particularly the Japanese Garden in Toowoomba, and the atmospheric and ancient landscape of the Bunya Mountains.
Prize winner Toowoomba Royal Show 2021; Marburg Show 2021; Finalist, Salon des Refusés Lethbridge 20000 prize 2023.
