AFFORDABLE ART FAIR BRISBANE 8 - 11 MAY 2025

Nick Olsen Nick Olsen is a Brisbane-based painter who is interested in the built environment and how our living spaces reflect our cultural sensibilities through different times in our history.

He uses a focus on light, tone, and colour to elicit an emotional response and a sense of ‘place’ in his work.

Fascinated by architecture and how the built environment can represent moments in time, streetscapes are central to Nick’s practice. Over the years as buildings change and develop, new layers of meaning form, which display the authentic Australian character. Nick particularly enjoys painting the Australian light that forms patterns and shapes across our buildings.

Exhibiting yearly since 1990, his work is held within the Collections of the Gold Coast Regional Gallery, Ipswich Regional Gallery, Redcliffe Regional Gallery, QUT Gallery (Alumni), Museum of Brisbane.

Christine Reilly Christine Reilly is a respected Queensland artist with nearly 30 years’ experience behind the canvas. Interested in art and design from childhood, Christine began painting in her twenties and went on to teach art and co-own Dabbles on Days and Nakina Fine Art Galleries in Brisbane.

Her work demonstrates a long-held love of travel, peoplewatching, local city scenes and beachscapes. It chronicles not only the progression of her subjects and style but also her own journey as an artist and woman.

The process is the important thing, the struggle, excitement and energy which is so much a part of the creative process can be intoxicating, some subjects become favourites contributing to my personal language and allowing me to indulge in the sheer pleasure of creating.

Tracey Lennon Tracey Lennon has a background in Art, Interior Design and Illustration, and has worked as both a designer and scenic artist.

Her artwork has been showcased in Queensland art shows: finalist in the 2019, 2023 and 2024 Rotary Art Spectaculars and Moreton Bay Art Awards. She won First Prize for Mixed Media at the Brookfield Art Show.

Tracey has participated in joint exhibitions at Three White Rooms, Paddington, Brisbane: Two Locals 2013, Bris Vegas and Beyond, 2019 and Stories of Place, 2022.

In 2021, she was a finalist in the Salon de Refuses, Lethbridge Landscape Prize and the Online Gallery Lethbridge 20 000 Art Prize. Joint exhibitions Red Hill Gallery: Icons of Brisbane, 2022 (Sold Out), Favourites at Red Hill Gallery, 2023 and Here, There and Everywhere, 2024.

Fiona Chivers My earliest childhood memories are painting with sticks and leaves in the back yard and my early years were full of creativity. This love of painting and creating would eventually lead me to study at the Qld College of Art, where I majored in Printmaking.

After obtaining my Bachelor of Fine Art, I found work as a Commercial Artist & Graphic Designer - a job I still do today, which has refined my skills of design, composition and colour.

As a landscape painter my paintings aim to reaffirm a sense of place for the viewer. My current work deals with not only my different perspectives on what defines beauty and power within the Australian landscape, but also speaks of our place within that landscape.

Minhan Cho Minhan Cho is a local artist who creates plein air landscapes of the region. Minhan taught himself to draw and paint from books and nature in 2012 and has become a full-time artist since moving to Moreton Bay in 2018.

Minhan has travelled extensively throughout Moreton Bay from country to coast, suburbia to sea, setting up his easel at a desired location to paint. Minhan searches for the perfect moment that sparks inspiration, it could be the contour of object, shape of shadow, reflected light, strong lines or an array of vibrant colours.

Minhan’s mission is to discover beauty in ordinary everyday life, he explains it’s like finding a diamond spark in a gemstone. His goal is to reinterpret the essence of the scene to create energetic paintings through improvised but concise brush strokes.

Emma Sheldrake Largely influenced by her experiences in the fashion industry, Emma’s works are commentaries on how beauty is reflected in the media, its mesmeric portrayal and obscured depths. The flawless beauty of her subjects seeps from the pages of stereotyped fashion magazines into an unbound representation of character, rich with personality and evocative imperfections.

Since her launch, Emma has had works in over thirty exhibitions throughout Australia and overseas, amongst those, Art Shanghai and Art Sydney. She is fast gaining recognition for her unique style of painting and is being sought after internationally.

Emma entered the Archibald Prize for the first time in 2009.

For 2010, Emma was delighted to paint Australia’s much loved comedy trio, The Kransky Sisters, in 2011 singer Erika Heynatz and in 2012 Pro fisherwomen, sharker and surfer Kim McKenzie & in 2013 Archibald finalist artist Dean Reilly.

Denise Murray Denise Murray is a sculptor who uses her initiative and imagination to create an honest communication through body language in her welded bronze pieces along with her well known cold cast bronze figures.

Denise also paints figurative works that have a unique mystic and universal appeal in keeping with her sculptures.

Her sculptures use form and expression to communicate.

Body language has always held a fascination for Denise and the message received is immediate and without guile.
