ACCOMMODATIONS

REFUND POLICY
Our refund policy encourages early decisions, so as to not affect other customers or our ability to deliver efficient programs. All requests for refunds must be made at least 10 business days prior to the start of
the program. A 20% administrative fee will be charged per refund transaction. There are no refunds for missed classes.
AGE POLICY
Program participants must be the advertised age of the program before the program ends. All age requirements are set to benefit the participants and to make sure the instruction is consistent and safe.
Please see your instructor on the first day of your program for a schedule. If there is a change in the schedule, you will be informed by Parks and Recreation staff of the update. If you are not sure whether a program will be held, call our program cancellation line at 301-600-6291. During inclement weather, outdoor programs may be cancelled. Every effort will be made to make-up missed classes. Refunds will not be granted for rescheduled classes that are missed due to conflicts with personal schedules. The Division may cancel a program for any reasonable cause.

Basketball Basics will provide individuals with physical and developmental disabilities an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of basketball, including the rules, foundational skills, and game play all while enjoying non-competitive games and drills. Essential Eligibility Criteria: Program levels 1-3. Participants must be able to provide self care independently, with verbal cues, or with the assistance of a parent/guardian/caregiver who is onsite and be able to function in a group with an instructor-participant ratio of 1:3. Participants must also be able to navigate the program terrain, including hard surfaces and flat terrain independently or with the assistance of a parent/guardian/caregiver who is onsite. Participants must be able to follow two-step directions as well as express wants, needs, and desires verbally, with communication device, or with ASL. Designed for preschool cheerleaders, a wonderful introduction to the world of sports and fitness through cheerleading. Parents may stay and watch in the first and last classes only. 6 week session.

Designed for elementary students to learn the basics of cheerleading and dance while having fun and working as a team. Empowered Gymnastics will teach children with physical and development disabilities, delays, or differences the basics of gymnastics. We will use lower level apparatuses to grow the students’ comfort levels and focus on starting positions and basic skills. Each class we will start with a warm up, then move to stretching, structured activities, and a game or group play at the end. Designed for middle school students who plan to take cheerleading/poms seriously. ENDZONE CHAMPIONS
Participants will have a great time learning the fundamentals of football with fun drills and games! We will emphasize the skills needed to throw, catch, and run. This class is for children who have not yet played or are just beginning to play football. 6 week session.
S.N.A.G.
SNAG , or “Starting New at Golf” promotes learning, practicing and playing golf at a beginner level. This fun sport has all the elements of golf, but in a modified form. Participants will learn how to drive, pitch, chip, and putt the golf ball. The necessary equipment is provided. 6 week session.
This exciting preschool gymnastics program is ideal for your little one. Students will learn the fundamental movements of gymnastics while learning how to have fun with movement. Prerequisite: Child must be three year old when the program begins and toilet trained. NO DIAPERS. Parent involvement is required. 6 week session.

Learn how to play the fastest growing sport in America! Our soccer clinics are programs developed for soccer players who want to improve their skills and abilities by learning from an international experienced coach. We create the best environment to increase the footwork, tactical and physical of the athlete. The clinic is a 1-hour session to experience high-intensity and quality training. 8 week session.
1ST KICKS SOCCER
This class is designed for a preschooler’s first experience in soccer. Participants will learn about teamwork and the fundamental skills in soccer. These 45 minute classes include stations and drills that will help them get comfortable with a soccer ball and teammates. This is not a league. Our program is designed to help develop coordination and athleticism in young kids. No matter what sport your kids are getting ready for, running can get them in great condition and help them become balanced, well-rounded athletes. We teach the fundamentals using structured practices, form drills, running specific exercises, and running specific plyometrics. We believe in teaching kids to run correctly, being challenged aerobically each practice, and having fun with running games designed to bring out the competitive spirit. 8 week session.

Future Star is the perfect introduction to the fun world of soccer. Children are introduced to the basics of soccer, in a play-oriented yet structured format, using child-friendly but realistic soccer equipment. HEAVY HITTERS TENNIS
Heavy Hitters Program is for players ages 14 and Under. We build on the skills that were developed in the ACES and HOT SHOTS programs, and players learn game changing stroke mechanics and dynamics of footwork. They will have heart pumping rallies, challenging point play and most importantly, FUN! 4 week session.

ACES Program is the perfect opportunity for your child to learn the Fundamentals of tennis. We use low compression balls and small court sizes. Come for a fun Salad Jar Party where we will learn how to make 4 salad jars! Each week you’ll bring 3 ingredients to share with the class and then we’ll have enough ingredients to make 4 delicious salad jars that would be great for lunch or dinner. Afterwards, we will finish our evening with a workout! Barre Above blends the latest exercise science with the principles of the Lotte Berk method (the genesis of the Barre movement) delivering a fusion of ballet, pilates, yoga and strength training in each workout. It’s a total body workout anyone can do. Please bring a yoga mat, water bottle, 4 mason jars & ingredients you sign up for each week. The first class I will explain how to make the salad jars and how we will make them as a class but we will not make the salad jars the first class. The 50+ Community Centers offers a variety of fitness classes such as strength training, yoga, Zumba, and line dance.

PART 2: THE QUILTER
Now that you know the basics about your sewing machine, you are ready to take your new skills to the next level and start making things for yourself, home, friends, family and community! In this class, you will get to know your sewing machine even more as you learn valuable skills that can be applied to different types of sewing from quilting to home dec to garment making. We will focus on making a finished project in this class that can be used as a table topper, or donated to Frederick County Animal Control & Adoption Center. Class Goals: You will understand the importance of the construction process from cutting to finishing. You will learn the best and safest practices for using a rotary cutter to cut accurate sizes of fabric, tips to help you achieve consistent seam allowances. This class is chocked full of information that you probably would not think about when tackling a mending task. You will learn some great hacks to save you time and help you in a pinch. This class is designed to give you good life skills that will come in handy for many years to come. You will learn how to repair a variety of your favorite belongings from A (your pet's favorite animal) to Z (zippers). This class will be part hands-on, part demonstration with some hand sewing and machine sewing. If you own a sewing machine you can bring it, but a sewing machine is not required for this class.

We will use lower level apparatuses to grow the students’ comfort levels and focus on starting positions and basic skills. Each class we will start with a warm up, then move to stretching, structured activities, and a game or group play at the end. Goals: To increase strength, improve coordination, and develop a basic knowledge of gymnastics. Essential Eligibility: Program Levels 1-2. Participants must be able to provide personal care with verbal direction or with the assistance of a caregiver who is onsite, follow two-step directions, and fully participate in activity with a 1:8 participant ratio. Participants are able to convey feelings, desires, and needs verbally, with ASL, or with picture cues/communication device. All requests for refunds must be made at least 10 business days prior to the start of the program. A 20% administrative fee will be charged per refund transaction. Registrations that require advanced tickets are not refundable. Refunds for Sports League registrations must be made prior to the listed league registration deadline. There are no refunds for missed classes.
A health profile is required to be completed for each camp participant, through CampDoc, in order to attend. Only one profile is needed per camper for the 2023 camp season. You only have to complete once.
If your child needs medication during camp hours, download the Medication Authorization Form through CampDoc. Staff is not permitted to accept medications until the proper paperwork is complete.
Information about creating your CampDoc profile will be emailed to you before the start of camp.
Here are some tips to get you started:
1. Your answers will save as you type them. You do not have to complete the entire health profile at once.
2. You can navigate between steps by clicking the Previous Step or Next Step buttons at the bottom of the page. You may also jump between steps by clicking the step name on the right of the page.
Program participants must be the advertised age of the program before the program ends. All age requirements are set to benefit the participants and to make sure the instruction is consistent and safe.
Please see your instructor on the first day of your program for a schedule. If there is a change in the schedule, you will be informed by Parks and Recreation staff of the update. If you are not sure whether a program will be held, call our program cancellation line at 301-600-6291. During inclement weather, outdoor programs may be cancelled. Every effort will be made to make-up missed classes. Refunds will not be granted for rescheduled classes that are missed due to conflicts with personal schedules. The Division may cancel a program for any reasonable cause.
Parent, guardian or authorized person over the age of 18 must sign campers in & out each day and must show photo identification. Staff are required to ID all persons picking up children.
LATE PICKUP POLICY
If a parent or authorized person is late picking up the child, a late fee of $1 for every 3 minutes will be applied.
CAMP STAFF
Camp staff are carefully screened and selected for their activity skills, level of enthusiasm, ability to work well with children, and good judgment. Training is provided on safety procedures and expected conduct, as well as activity planning and implementation. By state law, all staff undergo background checks and must be certified in CPR and First Aid. All camp directors are over 21 years of age.
Please label all belongings. Personal belongings should be kept in a bag or backpack. Cell phones and electronic devices are allowed to be carried in the child’s backpack, but must be turned off during camp hours. We strongly discourage campers bringing these items to camp.
Closed-Toe Shoes: Dress comfortably in old clothing and closed-toe shoes. Please do not send your child to camp in open-toed shoes or sandals.
Peanut-Free Snack Water Bottle
Swimsuit/Towel: On days noted in the camp newsletter, bring a swimsuit and towel that can get messy.
Sunscreen & Bug Spray: Apply before arrival.
Lunch: Pack a non-perishable lunch as there are no refrigerators.

FCPR’s AIR Team utilizes designated program levels and essential eligibility criteria to ensure the safety of all participants and staff who are part of the program and to allow participants to experience the program to the fullest extent. These levels outline the minimum physical and cognitive skills needed in order to participate.
• Examples of programs that may be considered Level 1 include, but are not limited to: outdoor adventure programs, elite sports programs, and gymnastics.
• Examples of programs that may be considered Level 2 include, but are not limited to: general day camps, enrichment programs, history programs, nature programs, preschool programs, instructional sports programs, social groups, fitness programs, and most adaptive recreation programs.

Frederick County Parks and Recreation offers alternative choices through specialized adaptive recreation programs for individuals with disabilities. Participants have a wide range of abilities and special needs; some prefer and benefit from participating in highly structured specialized programs designed specifically for participants with disabilities. Programs utilize trained staff and higher staff/participant ratios in addition to adapted spaces, materials, and content to provide an opportunity for individuals to participate in various recreation activities. Program spaces are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must meet the program’s essential eligibility criteria. Explore science through the lens of nature. Campers will set bait to study animal tracks, learn about the weather with fun experiments, conduct a field study on seed dispersal, take water quality tests to determine the health of our creek and much more. Some join us as we us the scientific method to figure out how things work and conduct experiments with your friends while reveling in the fresh air.
This week it is all about how to survive in the wild. We will learn about animal survival tools and try out some of our own including; how to find water and edible wild food, build shelters, tie knots and so much more. Here is a fun way to hang out with friends and learn some survival skills while enjoying the outdoors and learning how to keep you safe in the outdoors.
Have a blast this week playing pirate-themed games out in the park! Campers will create their own maps, go on treasure hunts, and play water games. We will learn about some of the wildlife that pirates encountered out on the seas as well as what we find in our own backyards! We have trails, streams, and lots of open space for conquering pirates to explore...and, of course, lots of pirate jokes!

Crafter’s Camp with Coyle Outside
This camp taps into the engineering brain all of us have and how to reconnect with the natural world around us. Learn how to use natural materials to make everyday tools and crafts. Each day we will introduce a new building project that participants will work on throughout the week to bring home. Projects may include safely and efficiently using a bushcraft knife, making a bone awl, wooden batons, natural fiber cordage and knots, hand carved wood spoons and/or bowls, compression\percussion and friction fire methods, buckskin medicine pouches, bamboo walking sticks, gourd drinking bottles, simple stone tools, rocket stoves, plant ID and uses and more! We will take daily “woods walks” to explore the park and look for materials. As we learn about and work through projects we focus on patience, individual creativity, and self-awareness.
Advanced Wilderness Survival with Coyle Outside
This camp goes in depth into critical survival skills using fun, challenging scenarios. Participants work on their own and in teams to problem solve various skills challenges such as shelter, fire, tool use, knife safety, traps, rope and knots, plant uses, animal tracking, primitive skills, navigation and more. Instructors help participants build initiative, self-control, confidence, and communication skills while making new friends. Our basketball skills training camp will prepare basketball players for their upcoming season. Introduce your child to the wonderful world of programming! In this class, students will learn basic programming concepts using a simple drag-and-drop interface within the software Scratch, a project developed by the MIT Media Lab. Students will use their imaginations to implement creative thinking, while at the same time learning how to create and program simple games. Use pre-made art assets or create your own, and learn how to program them to walk, talk, and interact with objects. Teach students logic and visual programming in order to create a simple 2D Video Game in Scratch.

Show off your skills and learn new techniques at our Master Chef Camp, just like the show we will have Mystery Baskets, Team Challenges, Taste Tests and Judging. Have your child let loose and have fun in the kitchen, without any of the stresses and pressure of school. Younger children focus on kitchen basics like mixing, measuring, tasting and safety while having fun in the kitchen. LEADERSHIP THROUGH HIP HOP DANCE
BY DANCE SOLUTIONSDancers explore urban dance fusion using hip hop! Learn new steps each day and make new friends while learning about coordination and body movement. Dancers will also learn how to choreograph, organize, and lead youth in the creation of a Broadway number crossing various styles of dance from jazz to hip hop. Dancers wear clothes for ease of movement and close-toed shoes. Please bring a nut-free snack, non refrigerated lunch, and water bottle. There is a short performance on the last day of camp.
ENDZONE CHAMPIONS
Test your skills on the gridiron with this all-around skills program! Modeled after the skills that the pros practice and compete in during the Pro-Bowl Skills Showdown, players will learn basic and advanced skills with passing, agility, catching, and punting in a fun atmosphere. SNAG stands for “Starting New at Golf“. SNAG allows you to learn, practice, and play golf where you are! This fun sport has all the elements of golf, but in a modified form. Theatricks has been enriching lives since the LATE 80’s founded in Frederick MD. We teach skills such as juggling, wire walking, clowning, and much much more! Theatricks is led by veteran circus performer Mark Lohr. Mark’s circus arts career started with the start of Theatricks. He was trained by the company to wow audiences with circus skills while bringing the laughs with a unique style of slapstick and physical comedy. His circus background includes The Carden International Circus, Ringling and Cirque de Sole as well as on the stages of the Myerhoff Symphony Hall and the Kennedy Center. His 30-plus years as a performer have been very successful but what has truly driven him is the two-fold mission of Theatricks.1. To entertain with circus arts and 2. To teach and uplift with circus arts! Together with his team of Lohrs Gena 25, Grace 23, and Grant 16 (who have all been involved with the circus since they were knee-high to a grasshopper!) they teach and inspire with a mixture of hard work and zany silliness!!
