MAT PILATES This is a challenging workout using body weight as resistance as well as some equipment to tone the entire body. NEW! YOGA WITH INVERSIONS In this class we will explore poses that build toward inversions. Inversions are a beneficial practice for the heart and the brain. With the help of gravity, oxygenated blood is more easily carried to the brain in an inverted position. Circulation to the torso, head, neck, and brain is improved. Inversions also increase immunity. Lymph moves throughout the body via muscular contraction and gravity. When the body is upside down, it is much easier for lymph to travel and do it’s job- get rid of toxins. YOGALATES Pilates focuses on strengthening the abdomen, lower back, and hips-collectively referred to as “the core”, to maximize functional fitness and restore proper alignment. Yoga asana (pose) practice includes postures that improve balance and flexibility, facilitating a deeper body/mind connection. When the core strengthening aspect of Pilates is fused with the mindful movement of Yoga asana, Yogalates is born. This is a uniquely challenging workout that creatively leverages body weight as resistance, so no equipment is used other than a simple yoga mat. TAE KWON DO Students will learn basic self-defense skills such as blocks, kicks, and strikes. Participants will learn choreographed moves called forms. Also, students will learn various block and counter-attack drills with partners. Bag drills will be used to increase focus, power, and technique. In addition to learning new skills, classes offer increased flexibility, balance, coordination, and muscle memory. Participants will be required to wear a white uniform (information will be provided to your family at your first class). Students are not required to purchase a uniform immediately.
