NEXT is an advertising agency that is building a new office in Chicago on the 6th and 7th floor of an existing building. The total design space is 16,000 sqf.
Route 66 is a highway that travels all the way from Chicago to Santa Monica. One of the things that keeps this highway so famous is the strange but intriguing attractions along its 2,448 mile road. Though mostly in the middle of nowhere, the role and techniques of its advertising keeps attracting travelers. Next captures this idea through their own advertising.
To encourage productivity within their workplace, the design blends vintage aesthetics with modern principles. This creates a multi-sensory experience that captures the spirit of the road and the allure of the attractions that once lined it, establishing a timeless environment for the company’s creative work.

Route 66, America’s first Federal highway, was established on November 11, 1926. During the Great Depression, it became a lifeline for westward migration, symbolizing the ‘road to opportunity.’ Efforts to modernize it included straighter paths and wider lanes. The Interstate Act eventually led to its removal as a national highway in 1985. Chicago was chosen as its starting point due to its size and it being home to one of the world’s largest street railway systems. This made it ideal for a transnational highway.

The objective was to create a facility for a Virginia Tech’s interdisciplinary health and design research and innovation center based in Roanoke, VA. The total workable square footage is 10,080 sqft with various required rooms like classrooms, work rooms, and an eating area.
Being in nature can be a stress reliever, so adding naturalistic elements and biomimicry into the design can help improve productivity for the students and professors. To create this space, the design will use natural wood and greenery through having an abundance of plants. Movement is represented through structure and spatial design. The plants will also improve air quality of the space and mimic an outdoor experience.

Using an existing 8,000 sqft building and its original floor plan, we were tasked to create a workplace for a tech company of our choosing all while targeting a problem in current workplace design.
Mimicking the essence of movement, shape, and interchangeability that a camera inhabits, this project utilizes reflection and light to brighten spaces and create a euphoric effect. This further emphasizes the layout’s adaptability to fit the different workspaces and aid with worker’s focus. Attention is brought to the filter of a camera and its reaction to color and light.
Addressing the lack of support for neurodiversity among workers and how some people can focus better in different sensory spaces than others. The space uses light, sound, and movement to tackle this problem.

Given a floor plan, we were tasked with designing a boutique around products that promote sustainable living while also creating a brand identity. The boutique had to include a mezzanine that uses 1/3 of the total square footage.
Walking through the woods among the trees can create a euphoric and relaxing experience. For many, taking a book or journal outside can act as an escape. Using the aspects of woodland areas like the circular movement of a stump, veins of a leaf, texture of bark, or light shining through the trees, can recreate this experience. A focus on recycled and reclaimed materials gives a nod back to the trees and nature from which they came. From comforting greens to the natural light, Your Story will draw all booklovers and writers to this store in Seattle, Washington.

Seattle, Washington, with its drizzly, coastal weather, attracts readers and writers to the area. This provides a welcoming atmosphere in which they can gather, work, and be inspired. 1 2 3

Using five, 12X12 ft squares, we were tasked to create a space with a living and work house for an artist. We also had to create our client, their identity, and art form that would influence the design and layout.
This space is a haven from the traveling and nonstop movement of the artist’s life demands. The design shows a separation of work and living, while also bringing aspects of the client’s home country of Greece into the interior with blues, white, and tile. The design provides larger spaces for hosting, while also including a tucked away bedroom as a retreat. There is also a space to display her pieces with easy access to the studio.
Right outside the town of Crested Butte, Colorado. Far enough away from the bustle of her travels, but still close to a city to promote her work.

Using the five, 12 by 12 boxes, a separation of work and living space was created. The exhibit faces the street for easier access to guests, while the bedroom in the back provides isolation. A large kitchen was important for dietary needs and entertaining.

MIDJOURNEY | PHOTOSHOP

This team project was to design a hotel lobby and luxury suite for a client that is inspired by three famous people; Andy Warhol, Harry Houdini, and Selena Quintanilla. Using Midjourney, an AI program, we created images and designs for the rooms and spaces using keywords to describe what we pictured. We then took these designs to photoshop and shaped them into real spaces.

Hex is a temporary restorative outdoor space with a connection to nature, that crafts a break from the day-today chaos that a college student typically endures.
Throughout this unique outdoor grounding experience, patterned apertures are intended to communicate with the movement of the sun, redirecting the user’s attention to the movement of light and shadow within the enclosure. The five hexagons represent the five senses and with materials, textures, sounds, and sight, college students are provided with a serene space to take a step back and settle anxious thoughts.
