A UK LOCKDOWN JOURNAL IN FRENCH YEAR 9 FRENCH STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL THANKS TO MADAME FONDU

Our Y9 boys were very disappointed when the French exchange with our partner school, Les Chartreux Saint-Charles in Lyon, was cancelled due to the pandemic. So, being able to engage in a penpal project with the French students online was a great opportunity for them to share their experiences of life in the lockdown in the UK, with their French partners. Our boys really rose to the challenge and their work does justice to both the quality and complexity of their French, but also to their maturity and generosity in sharing their experiences with students in another country. They had to share different documents using simple English to illustrate the situation, and write a letter entirely in French detailing their personal experience of the lockdown. Here are some particularly outstanding extracts. All boys who took part should be very proud of their hard work, which is a testimony to our boys’ academic excellence and caring character. Aadith Chandra (9W) wrote a detailed account on his new routine: Pendant le confinement, je me réveille à huit heures. Avant le confinement, je me réveillais à six heures. Maintenant c’est relaxant mais très ennuyeux. Après que je me réveille, je me brosse les dents et je prends mon petit-déjeuner. Si c’est un jour de semaine, je me rends au collège en ligne. Après le collège, Je passe du temps avec ma famille. C’est vraiment marrant parce que nous 25
