Alumni Shine at the 9th MEIDAM Congress
The MEIDAM Ambassadors Team, comprised of 30 residents, junior physicians, and senior medical students from across the region, played an instrumental role in organising the 9th MEIDAM Congress—the largest dermatology conference in the Middle East and North Africa. With over 4,300 attendees, the conference brought together leading dermatologists and CEOs from around the world, including Presidents and Vice Presidents of esteemed organisations such as the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV), Royal College of Physicians (RCP), International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS), and the International Society of Dermatology (ISD). Among the Ambassadors were five outstanding RCSI Bahrain alumni, who traveled to Dubai, UAE, to contribute to the conference’s success:
• Dr Naser Alajmi (Class of 2022) – Incoming Dermatology Resident, KIMS
• Dr Ali Alaysreen (Class of 2022) – Family Medicine Resident, Primary Healthcare Centres
• Dr Adnan Ahmad (Class of 2021) – Dermatology Resident, KIMS
• Dr Dana Awadh (Class of 2019) – Dermatology Resident, BDF
• Dr Samah Almoosawi (Class of 2021) – Doctor, KHAMH
Dr Naser Alajmi led the team with exceptional dedication, ensuring the smooth coordination of activities and providing support for high-profile guests, including world-renowned dermatologists. Their professionalism and success have inspired the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) to consider adopting the ambassador programme for future conferences.
A special congratulations to Dr Naser Alajmi for winning 1st place in the Poster Abstract Competition and Dr Samah Almoosawi for securing 2nd place, standing out among global dermatology experts. They were honoured alongside representatives from prestigious institutions like the AAD and EADV.
This remarkable achievement highlights the talent, dedication, and leadership of our RCSI Bahrain alumni, who continue to make an impact on the global stage. We are immensely proud of their contributions and their role in representing RCSI Bahrain with excellence.

UK Pathway Session
The Careers & Alumni Office was delighted to welcome Dr Leonie Hamal (Class of 2023) back to campus for an insightful and interactive session on the UK medical training pathway. Currently undertaking FY2 training at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, Dr Hamal provided students with invaluable guidance on navigating the UK healthcare system and securing training opportunities.
The session was highly engaging, offering students a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insights, ask questions, and receive practical advice on the application process, career progression, and life as a junior doctor in the UK.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr Hamal for her time and dedication in delivering such an enriching session. Special thanks also go to Professor Alf Nicholson, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Professor Kevin Dunne, Head of Paediatrics, for their active participation, addressing student queries and sharing their expertise to further inspire and support our future healthcare professionals.
