Campus Security Authorities

This training provides an overview of the Clery Act and its reporting requirements, defines the role and responsibilities of a Campus Security Authority (CSA), and outlines the types of incidents and crimes CSAs are required to report—including Clery-reportable offenses and hate crimes. Participants will learn when and how to report these incidents, understand the distinction between confidentiality and mandated reporting, explore real-life case scenarios, and discover where to access the CSA reporting form and additional resources.
To maintain compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, all designated Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) are required to attend at least one of these upcoming training sessions.

Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA): We will explore the FMLA, which grants eligible employees up to 12 weeks of unpaid, jobprotected leave for specified family and medical reasons.
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): Our discussion will cover the ADA, which prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs.
Paid Parental Leave (PPL): We will review the policies surrounding PPL, which provides parents with paid leave to care for their newborn or newly adopted children.
The PUMP Act: This section will focus on the PUMP Act, which requires employers to provide reasonable break time and private space for nursing mothers to express breast milk.
Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA): Our discussion will include the PWFA, which requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations for workers affected by pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions.

Title IX Compliance and Responsibilities

This session provides Rowan-Cabarrus Community College employees with an overview of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, with a focus on the 2019 federal regulations that redefined institutional responsibilities for responding to allegations of sexual harassment.
Participants will gain a clear understanding of the definition of sexual harassment under the revised Title IX rule, the formal grievance process, and employee responsibilities related to reporting and response.
