Assymetric Fashion

Dear Readers,
As the seasons shift and fashion turns toward deeper tones and layered textures, this issue celebrates the beauty of contrasts—between tradition and reinvention, reality and perception, virtual and physical.
We are proud to spotlight Pompeja Rossini as our Photographer of the Month, whose lens captures the poetry of movement and detail with striking elegance. Our Blogger of the Month, Nani Soulstar, reminds us that style is as much about storytelling as it is about clothing—a voice that resonates just as powerfully as an image.
The creative team at AIM Agency showcases bold asymmetric fashion, proving that imbalance can be its own form of harmony. Meanwhile, our readers take the stage with a reinterpretation of modern Victorian style—romantic, structured, and utterly contemporary.
We also bring you a thought-provoking feature from Cashmerevanilla: “Runway Over Retouch – A Reality Check, or Why Second Life Modeling Delivers More Than Blogging.” It’s a timely reminder that authenticity, presence, and artistry matter more than a polished filter.
This issue is about redefining what fashion means today—fluid, dynamic, and unapologetically real. We invite you to immerse yourself in these pages, find your own inspiration, and carry forward the spirit of innovation and individuality.

AIM MODELS PRESENT ASSYMETRIC FASHION
by BonieFacio
Optimistic and dedicated, Nani Soulstar has transformed her Second Life journey from shop owner to passionate blogger. What started as a return to SL after five years away quickly became a creative calling, where her Photoshop skills and love for styling found a new outlet. For Nani, blogging is more than just showcasing outfits—it’s storytelling through images, a therapeutic process fueled by detail, mood, and heart. Known for her gentle personality and unique style, she strives not for fame, but for the joy of someone saying, “I love her work.”

Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?
I’m a very optimistic person and always try to do my best. I joined SL motivated by its construction initially, then I had a small shop, and now I’m a blogger.
Describe how did you first get into blogging?
After finishing my store and leaving SL for 5 years, I came back, and a very dear friend asked me if I could become a blogger, and so I tried it, that was more than 5 years ago.
Can you tell me some of your strengths that really helped you in blogging?
I think my greatest strength is that I made my own ads in the store I had, so I already had knowledge of Photoshop and that is the tool I use the most.
What was your greatest failure and what did you learn from that?
My biggest failure was that I didn’t know when to stop and I had more than 89 stores and too many events, so I was overwhelmed by so much work.
Second Life is a big place, do you have any other interests besides blogging?
Right now, because of my RL, I don’t have much time, so I enjoy making my posts and collaborating with friends.
Why did you start blogging? Describe your writing process, from concept to publishing. How do you stay motivated?
“Those of you who are bloggers understand me. Making a post is an impressive job, because it involves wearing the right outfit, choosing the right stores, adapting a good site accordingly, and also determining the climates you will use, if you want to convey something or what pose you should use. It’s all a mix of things that make your post good or a terrible failure. Once you have the photo, you move on to determining if it’s good, if you need to correct something, or reject the shot.
On the other hand, if you use editors, it’s about determining what you want to include in the shot, without losing the essence of the product.
This whole process is done with love and somehow keeps your mind focused and is therapeutic if you ask me.”
How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?
The sense of responsibility with the agreement with the stores, my biggest boss is called Blohotex hahahahaha that somehow puts pressure on me ;P
The fashion industry has a lot of bloggers, how do you get in contact or how do you pick the designers to blog for?
For those who want to start as bloggers, it is important to identify your style, your tastes and know which store is best suited to you.
We bloggers know that Blogging is really time consuming and a lot of work. How do you deal with organizing your posts?
These publications are actually organized depending on the deadlines you have.
How would you describe your personal style and is there a person who is a fashion inspiration to you?
“I consider myself a gentle person, and my favorite style is precisely that one because it best suits my personality.
I’m not one to look at posts or big fashion stars, although I should. I just come up with an idea and try to capture it.”
Can you tell me about few sources from where you get products for review on your site?
My sources are obviously the stores that provide me with their incredible items. These stores open applications and it’s a matter of being chosen. I’ve been fortunate to have been chosen by some very well-known stores such as Doux, Gabriel, Backbone, Monso, Ayashi, Glam Affair, Semotion, among others..
How do you attract new readers? Describe the methods you’ve used and their impact on site traffic? What do you think is the best social media strategy for getting more visitors to a blog?
I don’t consider myself an expert on the subject; I believe that each person has their own unique style and innate talent. If you want more traffic, what you should do is show your work to more people. In this case, share it with more groups. You can also feed it with other blogs and try to be innovative. Some people appreciate this.
How active are you on a weekly basis?
How often do you communicate with your followers?
Three times a week or more, I publish my posts and many people comment on me and some ask me about other things via IM. It’s really nice when people let you know what they think about your work.
What would you like to achieve in the future? Any Dreams?
The idea is always to improve. It’s my constant mentality, trying to be better. Being recognized is my dream. Maybe some people will tell that girl, “I like her style,” or “she makes beautiful posts.” That makes my dream a reality.

While the blogging community has long been perceived as the frontline of fashion marketing, the reality is this: for all its visual polish, blogging rarely offers a return on investment you can quantify or build on. Granted, many blog images are striking — high-resolution, Photoshopped, and meticulously staged. But how often do these static images truly represent your brand, your styling intent, or even properly credit your name? If we’re serious about driving visibility, engagement, and actual results for Second Life designers, it’s time to shift our focus to where the real impact lies — on the runway.
Let’s be honest here, blogging in Second Life has become less about marketing and more about maintaining status in an insular visual popularity contest. Every day brings a flood of images: avatars edited to perfection, posed against cinematic backdrops, draped in designer goods. Some of these images are undeniably beautiful, but what do they do? Without real analytics, affiliate tracking, or any transparent ROI metrics, most blogging efforts result in robotic admiration — not conversion. It’s a loop of likes, not links. Bloggers, consciously or not, most often are creating content for other bloggers and fashion insiders — not consumers who do the buying.
This leads to a major systemic problem: brands invest in review copies, sponsorships, and exposure within a self-contained bubble that rarely translates to meaningful engagement. A beautifully edited picture may garner Flickr and now PrimFeed favorites, but how many avatars actually teleport to a store and make a purchase because of it? Very few. Marketing has become synonymous with image-making, but image isn’t influence. At best, it’s visibility without action.
Runway modeling, by contrast, centers on movement, narrative, and real-time connection. It’s not about a frozen pose, but about dynamic performance. A fashion show is an event — a shared experience that brings avatars together in-world, with chat buzzing, crowds gathering, and designers given a stage to present not just products, but stories. Models walk, clothes move, and each outfit is styled to fit a larger theme, a vision. It’s not just a product display — it’s a campaign in motion.
Second Life modeling agencies operate with professionalism: rehearsals, scripts, choreography, styling standards, and brand alignment. These aren’t influencers hoping for likes — they’re performers executing a vision. The runway becomes a sales floor, a marketing tool, and a brand activation all at once. Guests don’t passively scroll — they teleport, interact, explore, and spend. Runway shows generate live traffic and immersive engagement — two things a still image can’t replicate, no matter how many filters it flaunts.
Attendees stepped into a world of creative expression and styling insight as Ava Jhamin, CEO of L’Amour Productions, took the virtual stage for the Any Genre Style Workshop. This exclusive session offered a fresh take on fashion through both American and European lenses, tailored for the dynamic realm of Second Life fashion.
From casual chic to the theatrical heights of avantgarde, Ava broke down the meaning of genre in fashion — not just as a category, but as a living, evolving art form. Drawing on references from industry legends like Anna Wintour, Jackie Kennedy, and Yohji Yamamoto, the workshop guided participants through trends, history, and runway influence.
How are you today?
I am very well thank you Bonie. I am so excited to talk to all the models today. Since I sadly closed the doors of L’Amour doing this workshop makes me so happy.
What motivated you to pursue a career in modeling within Second Life, and have a school, magazine and pageant?
I stared with my avi and spent 3 months on my avi. When I came into world and was exploring I met a man who owned a Egyptian sim. He asked me if I would be the ambassador of the sim. I said well what would that entail. He said ride the float in the big parade, do the posters, and bring people to sim. And right then and there I was bitten by the fashion bug.
You are around for a long time now, how do you perceive the evolution of the fashion industry since then? I think like in rl it’s always evolving and changing. And you need to change with it. Models have to have the most recent everything, hair, clothes, poses etc. I think with time and all the changes to avi’s clothes, Heads, Bodies, that it has made models much more creative, less limited.
Could you share some memorable experiences from your modeling career that have significantly impacted you? Well off the top of my head, I just came out of retiremen,t have not modeled in 9 years. I did the Luxe Paris We are the World show that Vanessajane, whom was also a student at L’Amour. I remember telling Mika owner of Luxe whom I adore. That Vanessa will win and no one will be able to touch her. And why did I know this. Because Vanessa worked hard at her trade, could design, build, anything. And she won smiles. Also doing the show made me get bitten by the model bug again
Today we are going to get a into different fashion styles, what do you hope to achieve with your workshop today? Because for me fashion is important. And what I have noticed is that people really get confused when it comes to all the genres. I studied outside sl for over a year. It’s something I want to pass on to the models so that no matter what they are asked to style, whatever genre they pick, the models will not get scared or not do because they don’t know what the genre is. Also they will hear me say a lot GOOGLE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. .

Could you share some details about yourself, including your interests beyond photography? Additionally, could you let us know your background and the specific areas of photography that you concentrate on?
I made skins from 2008 till 2015 and after taking a break I came back and decided to start over doing what I didnt have time to do as creator. I made some poses, then built houses und landscaped.since I cant do “nothing” I decided take some pics and one thing led to another...
Have you undergone any formal training in graphic design, or do you have a background in it?
Additionally, what sparked your initial interest in delving into photography within Second Life, and which aspects of virtual photography do you discover to be the most captivating or challenging?
no, Im a makeup artist rl and learned all by trying in sl/ photoshop.I did learn Maya but barely ever used it
What 3 words describe your personal photography style?
“Moody – Emotional– Playful
I’m sure many of our readers will be intrigued to hear how you actually make your pictures regarding windlight, size of the pictures, pixels. Do you have a favorite that you always turn to? And what do you think makes the best angle to take a picture?
There’s no such thing as a perfect angle when taking a picture—because every pose tells a different story. What works beautifully for one photo might fall flat in another. I always start with the pose and build from there, choosing the angle that makes the item I’m blogging shine the most. For me, windlight is essential. It sets the mood, brings out texture, and adds life to the scene. And I love keeping my shots close—there’s something intimate about seeing all the little details that make a look come alive.
My pictures just happen.
Lastly, could you provide insight into the projects currently occupying your creative focus? Are there particular areas you wish to explore in the future? Additionally, do you have any aspirations or dreams within your photography journey, and do you believe you’re making progress toward achieving them?
“Right now, I’m focused on capturing more emotionally-driven and atmospheric images—photos that feel like moments rather than just portraits. I’m also trying to push myself creatively by experimenting with different lighting moods and storytelling styles, not just fashion blogging but scenes that suggest a deeper narrative.
In the future, I’d love to explore more cinematic compositions, perhaps even dip into short visual story series or themed sets that evolve over time. One of my biggest aspirations is to find a distinct visual signature—something people instantly recognize as mine. I do feel like I’m slowly getting there with each image. It’s a learning curve, but the progress, even in small steps, is what keeps it exciting.”
