Lean into our strengths

ast year, as Libby Gatewood began her year as President, she noted how uncertain the future looked. No one knew how the virus would behave, when vaccines would be available, and how the real estate market would perform. Learning to live with uncertainty is one of the many lessons I have learned during the pandemic. I have learned as well that while we need to recognize and work on our blind spots or weaknesses—both individually and as organizations—it is equally (if not more) important to identify our strengths and lean into them. Building upon our strengths—not reinventing the wheel—will be our focus in 2022. The pandemic hastened our transition to virtual learning environments. We now know that many of our members enjoy the online learning environment. So while we remain committed to offering in-person classes, we will work to strengthen and expand our virtual classroom.

As we all know, real estate is both high tech and high touch; so as your Association and MLS will continue to provide the strongest portfolio of technology products to enable members to work productively, safely, and efficiently. Improvements to the MLS dashboard is just one of the technology enhancements we will benefit from in 2022. In terms of high touch, the 2021 spring golf tournament was such a hit, we’ll host another one this coming spring. And I’m thrilled to share that REALTORfest will return in October. Finally, our government affairs team will continue to do what they do best—protect private property rights and support policies that expand home ownership. These are just a few of the coming year’s highlights. But please know that the leadership and staff of RAR and CVR MLS are here for you day in and day out. Excellent customer service is a strength we want on display daily. I am honored to be following in the footsteps of Libby Gatewood; and I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as your 2022 President. Together, let’s lean into our strengths.
