Summer School for teens Are you 14-17 years old, and free in weeks 27, 28, 29 or 30 this year? Come to Ranum, Denmark and join our International Summer School, experience an amazing community with teens from all over the world.


Ranum International Ranum Efterskole College (REC) is the third largest private Efterskole in Denmark. The school’s main goal is to foster and build learners’ skills. We offer a high-quality 9th- to 12th-grade (high school level) education to both Danish and international learners. Our school is located in northern Jutland in a beautiful village, which boasts a rich history in education. It is near the “Happiest City in Europe,” Aalborg, and is an hour-and-a-half drive from Denmark’s second biggest city, Aarhus. Welcome to Ranum International Summer School

Ranum International Summer School offers a 2 or 4-week programme. The summer programmes embrace the school’s educational philosophy, which emphasises not only the quality of essential courses, but also the development of learners’ interests. This approach strengthen the participants teamwork skills as well the ability to think and become more independent, they have the opportunity to study and relax together with other learners from different cultural backgrounds. Learners will become more confident in speaking and using the English language during our courses as well as gain a better understanding of the history and culture of Denmark, “the Happiest Country in the World,” when taking the Danish courses. In addition, various extracurricular subjects are offered in the afternoon. Learn how to make delicious food with our chef, or learn how to sail a boat with the sailing teacher. Learn different types of art from our design teacher… or in the evening, choose from different activities, such as beach volleyball and football. Every Wednesday is our big excursion day. Learners travel to Aalborg, Viborg, Aarhus, or other cities to visit exciting tourist attractions. A popular recreational spot is also located near the school, Vilsted Lake. The fjord is a short 4 kilometers away. Walk or ride a bike to the beach, pick some strawberries at the farm, or take a walk in the woods all while enjoying the beauty of nature. Participant amenities include large and modern rooms; three delicious meals a day, cooked by our kitchen staff; WIFI throughout the entire campus; and access to the gym and cinema during spare time. We invite you to spend a full, wonderful, unforgettable time with us.

Academic courses All learners will attend English classes, learners will also choose between attending Science or Danish classes. English We offer an active and relaxing learning environment, where the focus will be to teach on the level of the class, as you will attend a class, which match your English level. Oral English and communication skills are our main focus during the programme. The English lessons will fundtion as a supplement to the English training which will come naturally outside the class rooms, as the summer school will be using English as the main language. Therefore, the learners will be practicing their oral English throughout the whole programme.

Science Science class consists of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. We will take a practical focus on science by implementing experiments and exploring subjects relevant to the Wednesday excursions. If you are curious about how nature works, please join this class..

Danish Is the Danish Royal family the oldest in Europe? How is the Danish culture different from your culture? And what does en, to, tre..mean? In the Danish class, you will not only learn practical simple Danish, but also gain a better understanding of Danish culture and history.


Extracurricular courses You may choose one of the following courses per week Sailing

Gastronomy

Want to have close contact with the sea? If yes, then join the sailing class. You will learn how to steer a boat by sail and motor.

Danish cuisine is famous for it’s use of fresh local ingredients. Participants will have the opportunity to try out Danish dishes.

SUP boarding

Design

This is an interesting sport. Sit or stand on a surfboard and use your paddle to enjoy a relaxing trip through the reeds.

Danish design is world-´ renowned. Learn how to design creations that come from your own imagination!

Music Can you play the guitar or piano? Do you have talent for singing? If you love music, join the music class.

Dance Learn to dance. Following the lively music and cheerful rhythms, let your body and heart fly! If you are interested in dancing, join the dance class.

Evening activities: Beach-volleyball, Soccer/football, Beach trip, Biking and Bonfire.

We expect active participation. Smoking, alcohol, violence and bullying are not tolerated. We expect students to use proper manners and have a good attitude. We do not tolerate any abuse of social media or computer games (other electronic devices). Beside your own travel insurance, scheduled activities are covered by the school’s liability and business insurance. For activities in the water, all participants will complete a swimming test prior to water activities Students are required to wear life vests/jackets for all water-related activities.
