Nevada’s St. Patrick’s Day Festivities to Bring in $68 Million Holiday

Spending Down Slightly from 2024 Record for Nevada

Despite mounting economic pressures, Nevada retailersaregearingup forSt. Patrick’sDay celebrations,with holiday spending expected to reach$68.0millionstatewide,accordingto projections fromthe National Retail Federation(NRF).However, with inflationon the rise, looming tariffs poisedto drive up costs, and growingrecessionconcerns, consumer spending is beginningto show signsofcaution. Nationwide,61 percentofconsumers plan to partake intraditionalIrish-themed celebrations, with anaveragespend of $43.64 per person—down slightlyfrom last year’s record-breakingfigure.Overall U.S.spending is expected to hit $7.0billion, a 2.8 percentdecline from the previous year.

Sporting the holiday’s signature green remains the mostpopulartradition, with 79percent of celebrants planningto dress the part. Preparing a festivemealfollowsclosely behind, with 30 percent intendingto cook a special dinner.Manyrevelers willtaketheparty outside their homes, as 26percent expect to celebrate at abarorrestaurant andanother 24percent plan to decorate their homes or offices. Other plannedactivities includeattending aprivate party (15 percent), marching in a parade (14 percent), or hosting agathering (11 percent).

With St. Patrick’s Dayright around thecorner,shoppersaregearingup.Grocerystores are the top destination,with 39 percent planning to stock upon food anddrinksthere.Discount stores follow, attracting 27 percent of shoppers lookingfor budget-friendlysupplies.

Meanwhile, 19 percent plan tosplurgeatbarsorrestaurants,and 17 percent will browse department stores. Online shopping is alsoin the mix,with14 percentoptingfor digital convenience. Smallbusinesses (11 percent), specialty stores(8percent), clothing retailers (6 percent), and drug stores (6 percent) round out the list of go-toshopping spots forholiday essentials.
