Nearly 1.9 Million Shoppers in Nevada

Participate in Thanksgiving Weekend and Cyber Monday Shopping

In-Store Shopping Outpaces Online Deals

During Thanksgiving weekend and CyberMonday, nearly 1.9 million shoppers inNevada spent over $444 million on gifts for friends and family, according to the Retail Association of Nevada (RAN). Across the country, the NationalRetailFederation (NRF)reported197.0 million shoppers over the long holiday weekend.This totalwas the secondhighestin the survey's history following last year’s record of 200.4million. Italso exceededNRF’s initial projection of 183.4 million by over 7 percent.

"Nevada’s retailers saw an incredibleturnoutthisThanksgiving weekend, with nearly 1.9 million shoppers spending over $444 million," saidBryanWachter, Senior VicePresident of the Retail Association of Nevada. "In-store shopping made astrong comeback this year, underscoring the value Nevadans place on the experienceofshopping locally. With consumers continuing to invest in meaningful giftsfor lovedones,we’reoptimisticaboutthe momentum carrying through the rest of the holidayseason."

The NRF survey reported that 126 millionconsumers chosein-storeshopping,a 3.8 percent increase from 2023. Online shopping activitydecreasedby over 7percent,with124.3 million consumers making purchasesonline.Black Friday recordedthehighestparticipation for both in-store shopping, with 81.7 million shoppers, andonline shopping, with 87.3 million consumers. Saturday ranked as the second-busiest dayfor in-store shoppingwith61.1 million shoppers. Cyber Monday ranked as the second-most-popular dayfor online shopping with 64.4 million consumers.

The top shopping destinations during the weekendincluded departmentstores (42 percent), online platforms (42 percent), grocery stores and supermarkets (40 percent), clothing and accessories stores (37 percent), and discount stores (32 percent). 86 percent of shoppers purchased gifts during the five-day period, with an average spending of $235, a 3.7 percent increase from 2023.

The most purchased gift categories included clothing and accessories (49 percent), toys (31 percent), gift cards (27 percent), food and candy (23 percent), and personal care or beauty items (23 percent).

Adobe Digital Insights reported $41.1 billion in U.S. online sales during Cyber Week (Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday), a 7.9 percent increase from the prior year. Black Friday generated $10.8 billion in online sales, a 10.2 percent increase from 2023, while Cyber Monday achieved $13.3 billion in sales, a 7.3 percent year-over-year increase.
