Nevadans are eager to celebrate the dads and otherimportant men intheir livesthiscoming Father’s Day. Spending on gifts is expected to reach recordhighs,withconsumers across the Silver State projected to spend a record $392.6 million onoutings, clothing andother gifts, according to the Retail Association of Nevada (RAN). Nationally,Father’s Day shopping is also expected to set a newbenchmark,withtotal spendingprojected to reach $24 billion. Over three quarters of Americans (76 percent) plantocelebrate the holiday, with an average spend of $199 per person, according to arecent survey bytheNationalRetail Federation (NRF).
Greeting cards remain the most common Father’sDay gift, with 58.0 percentofcelebrants expected to purchase one, contributing to anestimated$15.3millionin spendingacross Nevada. Clothing follows closely with 55.0 percentofconsumers planningpurchases, while 53.0 percent intend to mark the occasion with a specialouting. Gift cards alsoremain a popular choice, with 50.0 percent of shoppers opting forthisflexibleoption. Among the top spending categories for Nevadans are special outingsat$78.8million, clothing at $60.5 million, gift cards at $49.4 million and electronicsat$42.6million. Experience-basedgifts and subscription boxes continue to gain traction, with 30percent and43 percentof consumers, respectively, planning to include themin theirFather’s Daycelebrations.
Nearly half of Americans report planstobuy agift fora father or stepfather, while25.0 percent intend to shop for a husband.Additionalrecipients includesons (12.0percent), brothers (9.0 percent), friends (8.0 percent) and grandfathers(6.0 percent),underscoring the diversity of relationships celebrated onthisholiday.
Online shopping remains the preferredmethod forpurchasingFather’s Daygifts,with41.0 percent of consumers planning to shop online. Departmentstores continue at astrong second at 35.0 percent, followed by discount stores at 23.0 percent. Specialty storesare expected to attract 22.0 percent of shoppers, with 19.0 percentturning to localand small businesses and 15.0 percent visiting specialty clothingstores.
