Every June, families across the country come together to honor the fathers and father figures who playimportant roles in their lives. This Father’s Day, consumers in Nevadaare projected to spend $362.3 million on activities, clothing and other gifts for dads, accordingto the Retail Associationof Nevada (RAN). This projection is based on a recent survey by the National Retail Federation (NRF), which found that 75.0 percent of Americans will be celebrating this specialday. The average consumer is expected to spend $190, slightly below the historichigh of $196 set in 2023. Nationwide spending is anticipated to reach $22.4 billion, the second-highest figure behind last year’s all-time high.
The NRF survey highlighted that greeting cards remain the most popular Father’s Daygift, with 58.0 percent of shoppers planning to buy one. This is followed by clothing (54.0 percent), special outings (52.0 percent), and personal care items (31.0 percent). In Nevada, consumers areprojected to spend the most on special outings, with a total of $73.1 million. Other major spending categories include $56.7 million on clothing, $46.4 million on gift cards, $39.6million onconsumer electronics, $26.2 million on personal care items, $25.0 million on tools orappliances, $22.8 million on home improvement items, and $20.6 million on sporting goodsor leisure items.
Notably, 27.0 percent of respondents indicated their gift would involve an experience, such as tickets to a sporting event, while 42.0 percent said they would give a subscription box, the highest levelforthat category since the survey began. Half of Americans said they will celebrate theirfather orstepfather, while 26.0 percent will celebrate their husbands. Other recipients include sons(10.0 percent), brothers (8.0 percent), friends (8.0 percent), and grandfathers (6.0 percent).
Shoppers plan to visit a variety of places to find the perfect gift for dad this year. Online stores are the top choice, with 42.0 percent of respondents planning to shop there. Department stores are the second most popular, with 38.0 percent of shoppers planning to visit, followed by specialty stores, which are expected to attract 22.0 percent of shoppers.
