Easter Spending Expected to Reach $382

Million In Nevada

Nevadans are feeling the seasonal buzz as baskets brim and Easter spending rides high

Nevadans are onthe hunt to make this Easter one to remember, with totalspending forthe holiday expectedto reach $382.3 million, according to the Retail Association of Nevada (RAN). On average,each celebrant isprojected to spend$189 oncandy,barbecues, décor and other holidayessentials, the secondhighestper-personspending figurerecorded, based on datafrom theNational RetailFederation (NRF).

“Retailers aren’t theonly ones feeling the seasonalbuzz —theEaster Bunnyis looking bright-eyed andbushy-tailed as celebrations bloom across Nevada,”said Bryan Wachter, Senior Vice Presidentof the Retail Association ofNevada.“It’sclearthat consumersare embracing thisyear’sholiday with energy andenthusiasm.”

More than 2million Nevadans are expected to celebrate the holiday, with food taking the top spot as the largest spending category. Shoppersareexpectedtospend nearly $60each on Easter meals foratotalof $120.4 million inspending statewide. Candyremains akey component ofEaster traditions, with ninein 10celebrants projectedtospend acombined $54.2 million.

Other popularEaster spending categories include gifts(65percent), decorations(51 percent), clothing (49 percent), flowers (43 percent)and greetingcards(43percent). Among Easter celebrants, 58 percent plan to cooka holidaymeal, 55percent plantovisit friends and familyand 45 percent will attend church services.Additionally, 54percent of families with childrenplan to host an Easteregg hunt at home.

Discount storesremain thetop choice for Easter shopping, with 55 percent of consumers planning to visitone. Other popular shoppingdestinations includedepartment stores(44 percent), onlineshopping (36 percent)and localsmallbusinesses (26 percent).

As Nevadansleaninto the season withelevatedenergyand festivespirit,thisEaster is shaping up tobea feel-good dose of positive vibesfor both familiesand the state’s economy.
