Library Hours: Our Library will keep its normal hours of operation during JTerm for any students that are on campus and not in a class. The Library is open from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday.
Class Fees: Some JTerm courses have associated fees for the purchase of class materials. If you sign up for a course with an associated fee the business office will add those fees to your student account in FACTS this January.

Are You Ready to Rock? An Introduction to Songwriting and Music Recording
This course will give a range of brave students - whether accomplished musicians or casual shower singers - the opportunity to learn the basics of writing and recording their own music. Country, punk, son jarocho: you can create whatever you want! We'll work to write a song and learn the basics of recording using our new music production recording studio! All skill levels welcome, and especially interested in people who know how to play or sing some but haven't taken the leap into writing and recording.

Let's go on a food ADVENTURE! Make foods from Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and more! Let's make snacks, main dishes, and pastries. Take your current knowledge and learn to refine your technique and presentation skills. Here's a plus, we get to eat the food we cook!

Emergency Response 911: First Aid and CPR
The Adult/Infant First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies for suddenly injured or ill persons. At the end of the session, there is an option for successful students to receive a certificate for Adult First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. This course will be taught by a certified facilitator for the American Red Cross, and certified through the C.E.R.T. program of the LA Fire Department. Class Fee: $38 for certification
Event Planning 101
Do you love hosting and planning parties?! Join us! Event Planning 101 will introduce students on how to plan a large scale event. This includes learning about how budgets work, coordinating day of events, coordinating with vendors, making seating charts, making decor and centerpieces, and possibly even visiting a venue. We will do hands-on work. If you plan to join the Winter Formal committee, this is a great class for you because we will spend some of our time preparing our 2025 Winter Formal Dance.

Love. A powerful human emotion, a rite of passage, and an enduring theme in film. In this course, we will explore what movies teach about love and romance. We will have an opportunity to read and discuss films like Shrek, (500) Days of Summer, Chungking Express, The Notebook, Loving, Sense and Sensibility, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? These films offer social, psychological, religious, and cultural arguments on how people enter relationships and their expectations. Join this section to experience the requited, the heartbreak, and the tragic. (This course will run for two blocks, during A and B blocks)

Gourmet Lab: Science in the Kitchen
Are you hungry for science? Take on the role as both scientist and chef as you boil, bake, and toast your way into a better understanding of the science concepts involved with cooking. Rather than recipes, you will use lab equipment and procedures to make edible compounds both savory and sweet. At the end of class each day, you will get to enjoy your edible food items.
How to survive a Zombie Apocalypse? (grades 10-12)
Description: What does media tell us about what a possible Zombie Apocalypse could look like and come about? What can we do to better prepare ourselves? In this class we will explore various media outlets (movies, stories, show episodes, games) and discuss possible preparation we need to be ready for the Zombie Apocalypse. 5 - 4 - 3 - 2...Rolling! Coming to you live from Alhambra, Tiger Network Television joins J-Term. Are you ready to put your communication skills to the test? Perhaps you would like to share a spotlight on demanding issues, unique food, exciting events, or the latest trends in your community. Develop your media literacy skills including researching topics that interest you, writing scripts, asking questions, and understanding the role of journalism in society today.
Medical Interpreting Course
Are you bilingual? Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a Spanish/English medical interpreter? Have you been asked to interpret for a family member and thought, how do I say that in Spanish? What’s the difference between interpreting and translating? Learn about the ethics interpreters have to follow and some of the medical terminology. Listen to real life stories of the emergency room, role play with your classmates and have fun learning about something you might just need to use in the future. You must speak Spanish or be in Spanish 3 or higher to enroll in this class.
Musical Theatre Dance
This dance class teaches storytelling through movement. The class will begin with isolation warm ups and beginner jazz techniques. A combination from a Broadway show will be taught throughout the week and executed in the final classes. This is a wonderful class for those auditioning for the musical or for those who “just want to have fun”.
Nursing: So you think you want to be a nurse?
Come learn what it takes to become a registered nurse and save lives from age 0 to 100+. Topics include career pathways, nursing concepts, types of nursing roles, patient care settings, introduction to nursing skills, qualities of a nurse, and so much more! Come learn from a Ramona Alum and Registered Nurse, from the Class of 2016. This class is definitely for you if you are considering a career in nursing and healthcare after Ramona! Class Fee: $30
SAT Math Prep
We will review the various math concepts to prepare you for the math section of the SAT. You will become familiar with the structure of the test, and learn effective test taking strategies and problem solving techniques. Practice exams will help you gauge your progress and identify areas for improvement. You will be able to go at your own pace and practice how to approach the problems within the given time. Please bring a SAT approved calculator as we will learn how to use the calculator efficiently. We will focus mostly on the SAT but if you want to practice the ACT Math, we welcome you!
Sociology of Deviance: Crash Course
This mini crash course will introduce you to social norms and the deviant behaviors that violate them. The class will start with a quick intro to norms and their functions in society. We will discuss the classification and function of deviance and then explore social deviance especially those trends and behaviors related to women and youth - for example hairstyles, red lipstick, zoot suits, and music.
"Swing Batta Batta, Swing!"
This is open to any and all students regardless of your Softball skill. We will run through fundamental drills to focus on a more accurate swing and we will work on conditioning the body for a power swing. Students will work individually and in pairs to complete the drills and will receive feedback to help them improve their swing. Be prepared to work out! Comfortable and appropriate athletic attire and shoes are required.

Practice Bookbinding
Play with bookbinding techniques and processes to make your own journal and then use it as you wish - personal diary, fiction collection, or to do lists - whatever you want! This year we will experiment with a case bound book. There is a class fee to cover construction and decorative supplies.

Introduction to Flag Football
Join us and the rules and terminology of flag football as well as the basic fundamental skills needed to play. We will emphasize conditioning, offensive & defensive drills, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Do you have an unfinished art project? Would you like time and space to create, that you just don't have at home? Do you want to use printing tools, light boxes, and easels? American Sign Language
Step into the vibrant world of American Sign Language (ASL) with our introductory class! This course offers a foundation in ASL, focusing on building essential communication skills, understanding Deaf culture, and fostering an inclusive environment for all learners. You will learn the ASL alphabet and practice finger spelling names, words, and common phrases while enhancing non-verbal communication skills, including facial expressions and body language. Ballet Folklorico: Advanced Class
Bring your Folklorico dance shoes and a practice skirt! Learn the history, cultural influence, dance techniques and movement practices from a specific region in Mexico that is to be determined. We will focus on style, performing skills and endurance.

Wild LA: Wilderness Survival and Backpacking Trip for Beginners
In America, the wilderness has been a place to find everything from danger (Little Red Riding Hood in “The Woods”) to adventure (“The mountains are calling and I must go.” - John Muir) to God (“[In nature]...I am part or particle of God.” - Emerson). Much of how we make sense of ourselves in America is rooted in Nature, both in our connection to it and our opposition to it: a thing to preserve, a thing to conquer, a thing to wonder at. In this course, students will learn how to build a fire, use a map and compass, and prepare for a backpacking trip, and they will combine this with an
investigation into the history of Wild Los Angeles and the hotels and camps built up in the mountains above the city. This course will culminate in a one to two night backpacking trip later in the Spring.
