The project will focus on leveraging advanced manufacturing technologies to enhance the design, production, and sustainability of workplace furniture. By the end of this project, students will have developed a deep understanding of workspace furniture and its specific needs. Description

Studio project aims to create innovative workplace furniture solutions for the international market. The project will focus on leveraging advanced manufacturing technologies to enhance the design, production, and sustainability of workplace furniture in India. The project will challenge cutting-edge manufacturing methods to create furniture that is both functional andaesthetically pleasing.

The project will be divided into two phases. In the first phase, students will explore the latest manufacturing technologies and identify those that are most suitable for the context. Based on their research, students will develop a design brief that outlines the key requirements for their furniture designs.

In the second phase, students will use their design briefs to create innovative workplace furniture solutions with appropriate range. They will use advanced manufacturing technologies to produce prototypes of their designs and test them for functionality, durability, and sustainability. Throughout this phase, students will be encouraged to experiment with different materials, shapes, and finishes to create furniture that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

By the end of this project, students will have developed a deep understanding of the market and its specific needs. They will also have gained valuable experience in using advanced manufacturing technologies to create innovative furniture designs. This project provides a unique opportunity for students to bridge design creativity with technological innovation.

The aim is to design a workstation that can adapt to various types of workspaces. MESA is a modular desking system that works on a ‘central power spine’ concept. The worktable comes in a single user module as well as a dual user module that can be extended linearly as needed to create various layouts for workspaces. The cable manager ensures that the desks do not look cluttered and can also accomodate the user’s additional electronics like laptop and mobile chargers.

FINAL DESIGN

Mesa comes with other accessories like privacy panels, modesty panels, accessory hooks etc. The table top finish, fabrics of panels and table legs can be customized to create different moods in the office.

Mesa is also a flatpack system that is easy to transport and can be assembled using only an allen key.

The concept of creating a cohesive workplace envi- ronment through a standardized furniture system is aimed at streamlining design variations across different office areas, such as cubicles, executive desks, shelving and conference tables. The goal is to create a seating solution for informal work areas that provides privacy and minimizes distractions. The design should feature cocoon-like enclosures where individuals can sit and focus on their tasks without disruptions from the surrounding environment.

The seating system needs to be modular, allowing for expansion to accommodate two people at the manufacturing stage. The overall concept is a flexible, reconfigurable design that can adapt to different spatial needs while offering a semi-enclosed, distraction-free workspace within open areas.

Terra Tier is a free-standing modular shelving system that can double up as a space divider in Open Office Plans. It can be adapted to any office space and accessed from both sides. With simple joinery and assembly, the user can assemble it with ease and can also expand with changes in the needs of the users. The system comes in different sizes of shelving boxes with shutter options to suit the needs of varied users. The various permutations and combinations of the shelving system can help create privacy or openness as required in a particular office environment.

A modular shelving system model is a universal shelving for office spaces in open office system and can be placed to divide the space . Material detail : 25x50 mm Capsule MS pipe for frames and for connecting 2 frames , 3 mm Recycled plastic fopr shelves . The shelving system is expandable.

Material inderstanding according to the context and adaptability of furniture by the user , Structural stability and ergonomics are considered while designing the shelving system

STEPS :

1. 3 PEeople are required at first stage to hold vertical members and one person who assembles connecting members .

2. Once the connectors are assembled , brackets can be assembled by single person .

3. Later, shelves and storage are places on top .

4. After that , allen bolts are used to join the shelves and storage from bottom and the assembly is done.

5. Similarly system can be assembled later by 2 people .
