Ornamentation and its Articulation in Interior Realm

Studio Brief:

The studio focuses on ‘design’ role of ornamentation in the interior realm. The studio will investigate the definitions, notions, and theories of luxury and its influence on the design process.

To Evaluate the necessary approaches of making and construction, that can be studied with the idea of ornamentation and its related processes.

To utilize ornamentation in the given syntaxes such as materiality and construction of elements, functional and structural attributes of a system, form, and material, etc. for the various spatial interventions in interior space.

Derive the relationship between ornamentation and function - construction - aesthetics of interior design practices = ornamented articulation in interior realm.

10 Workspace Furniture Design MESA The aim is to design a workstation that can adapt to various types of workspaces. MESA is a modular desking system that works on a ‘central power spine’ concept. The worktable comes in a single user module as well as a dual user module that can be extended linearly as needed to create various layouts for workspaces. The cable manager ensures that the desks do not look cluttered and can also accomodate the user’s additional electronics like laptop and mobile chargers. Mesa comes with other accessories like privacy panels, modesty panels, accessory hooks etc. The table top finish, fabrics of panels and table legs can be customized to create different moods in the office. Mesa is also a flatpack system that is easy to transport and can be assembled using only an allen key. Farm house

IDEA BRIEF

Nestled amidst Mahudi highway’s farmlands, the Mehta family’s farmhouse was conceived on a linear plot. Integrating with the landscape’s slopes, an elliptical form emerged, eliminating corners for a natureimmersed experience. Divided into gathering and private quarters, the house’s units respond to the climate, opening north-south. Intertwined by an organic path through trees, the units lead to an expansive garden and pool, reflecting the structure.

The independent units are entangled together with an organic, winding path through thick trees and pause points to glance across. The sleeping quarter exudes security skin to a cave. This journey epitomizes sensory delight year-round, an invitation to the harmonious connection between nature and living space
