Managers’ Welcome

On behalf of the Board and team here at Naas Racecourse, I am delighted to welcome you all to the first of our Summer Racing, BBQ & Live Music race days, featuring the Al Shira’aa Irish EBF Jannah Rose Stakes. The €70,000 Group 3 contest has been won by some high-class performers over the years, and we look forward to today’s renewal. In addition to the feature race, we have a quality card in store throughout this evening and, combined with our great BBQ hospitality options and live music from After Dark straight after racing, we hope you enjoy your evening.

A special welcome goes to the team and guests of Al Shira’aa Racing. They have been wonderful supporters of Naas Racecourse, and we thank Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Manager Kieran Lalor for their generous backing of today’s feature contest.

We are fortunate to have such strong support from the people and businesses of Naas town. We’re delighted to welcome back Dooley Insurance Group, sponsor of the Dooley Insurance Group Irish EBF Fillies’ Maiden. Tim and Mary Dooley have been great supporters of Naas Racecourse and many other sporting and community activities around the area -be sure to visit www. dooleyinsurances.ie to learn about all the services they provide.

Also returning is ARKequine. Primarily a horse-nutrition business, ARKequine offers a huge range of high-quality, veterinary-formulated feeds and supplements, whether you’re a breeding establishment, professional producer, racehorse trainer or leisure rider, they’ll help maximise your horse’s potential. Many thanks to Richard Young and Kirsty McCann for their continued support, more information is available at www.ark-equine.com. Race And Stay are another long-time supporter of Naas Racecourse. Martyn Pipe and his team do a wonderful job year after year, bringing countless racegoers to Irish meetings throughout the season. Martyn has built Race and Stay into one of Europe’s leading racing-travel companies, and we’re thrilled to have them back.

It’s always great to welcome new sponsors, too, the team from the Fox Dunlavin join us today for the first time. Many of you will know this warm, traditional pub for its live music at weekends and food service throughout the week and if you don’t, be sure to pay them a visit soon!

We’re also hugely appreciative to have Tinnakill House back with us this evening. As one of Europe’s leading consignors at major sales, Tinnakill’s Laois nursery continues to produce top-class racehorses.

Last, but certainly not least, our thanks to the Irish EBF and Nessa Joyce, whose strong prize money support remains vital to Irish racing and its connections.

Best of luck to all the owners, trainers, jockeys and stable staff with runners this evening - wishing you every success on the track and hoping you enjoy your night at Naas.

As summer finally arrives, racegoers can choose from BBQ and other food offerings by our caterers, Lily & Wild. You’ll also find plenty of options on the ground floor of the Grandstand Café and in The Post self-service restaurant, with public bars in both The Circle and the Grandstand. If you have any questions, please call into the Race Day Office beside the turnstile, a member of our team will be happy to assist.

Our next race day, Naas Town Goes Racing Day & Summer BBQ, takes place on Saturday, July 5th. The Panoramic Restaurant and our BBQ restaurant are fully sold out, but visit www.naasracecourse.com for savings on other hospitality options.

Enjoy your evening!

Despite a below-par run on her latest starts, the maiden LISMACBRYANHILL has a leading chance in an open race on overall form. Heading the list of dangers are Carrigans Grove, runner-up on both starts this season, and Whatswrongnow, placed in two of his last three races. Apart from an unplaced run over C&D Beano Power has been generally reliable lately. My Girl Sioux has also been running consistently. [Alan Sweetman]

RACE VERDICT

This race boils down to whether you value experience or potential. Barnavara has the form in the book having won a Listed race last time and with a number of placed efforts at Group level. However, FAIYUM is potential-laden and has won impressively in her two starts. She looks as though the step up in trip here will suit her. Darzina is another unknown quantity that adds further spice to a fascinating contest. [Denis Harney] Source: Racing Post

While her maiden runs were moderate, CUCKALOO HILL left that form behind when a close second over this trip on handicap debut last time and she can go close despite a 5lb rise. Paddydaddy is a contender if his exertions of four days ago have not left a mark. Lady Christa is another who could be involved if sufficiently ready on her seasonal return for a new yard. At every meeting there are specially qualified equine veterinary surgeons on duty to look after the well-being of all the horses racing. There is a vet in attendance at the start of each race who follows the horses throughout the race and is quickly on hand if a casualty occurs. It is normal procedure to erect screens around any horse receiving veterinary treatment. This allows the veterinary surgeon some privacy to fully assess the horses’ injuries and racegoers should not assume the worst if screens are erected around an injured horse. The Blue Cross ambulance is always present to transport the horse back to the stable yard for further treatment if necessary. A secondary veterinary surgeon is in attendance in the stable yard to assess and treat any horse requiring such attention post race. The horses’ welfare is always our priority.

RACE VERDICT

The market will be informative as De Boode and Jess Abi make their debuts with nice pedigrees from strong yards. GUARDED makes the most appeal among those with experience, having finished a close third over C&D last time, with some subsequent winners in behind. A repeat of that run could well be good enough. Luscious and Guy’s Girl are two others that showed enough last time to suggest that they could be in the mix. [Denis Harney] Source: Racing Post

RACE VERDICT
