Aidan McGarry Racecourse Manager

On behalf of the Naas Racecourse Board and team, I welcome you to our final Flat fixture of the season. It has been another great summer of Flat racing here at Naas, where we have seen the likes of recent Group 1 winner Barnavara land the Al Shira’aa Racing Irish EBF Jannah Rose Stakes back in June, as well as the exciting Albert Einstein, who landed his maiden here earlier in the year in spectacular style. A huge thank you to all the owners and trainers who have supported us throughout the season.
Eddie Moran Owner Liaison
We round off our season with another high-quality card featuring the valuable Irish EBF Auction Series Race Final. The Irish EBF continues to be a tremendous supporter of Irish racing, sponsoring five races today, including the feature race as well as the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Garnet Stakes and the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Bluebell Stakes. We take this opportunity to thank the team and Board of the Irish EBF for their continued great work.
Today, we are delighted to host the TRM Awards for the TRM BTO League and the TRM Training Performance and Ride of the Season. The BTO League is judged by our sponsors and the Naas Racecourse team throughout the year. While it’s been a close contest, it looks as though Ross O’Sullivan will take home the top prize, a €1,000 TRI voucher, and we look forward to joining the team for a celebratory breakfast morning. The TRM Training Performance and Ride of the Season is a new award for 2025, voted for by our racegoers. Huge congratulations to Keithen Kennedy and Andy Slattery, who both receive €1,000 worth of TRM products in recognition of their achievements. Today also marks TRM’s final sponsorship of their six-race partnership throughout the Flat season at Naas. They conclude with sponsorship of the apprentice race, where the winning rider will be offered TRM sponsorship for a full year. Best of luck to all the young riders taking part today, and our sincere thanks to TRM for their continued support of racing at Naas.
A warm welcome back to Colm White, who is a familiar face to many punters here at Naas Racecourse. Thanks to Colm for his ongoing support of the Colm White Bookmaker Beggar’s End Handicap. A well-known face in the bookmakers’ ring around the country, including here at Naas and we are delighted to have Colm back supporting today’s valuable contest. You will see he has generously given all racegoers a €10 matched bet in the racecard, so make sure to call down to his pitch today.
The Smurfit family are among our longest-standing sponsors, and today they sponsor the Irish EBF Tifrums Maiden with Forenaghts Stud. Tifrums was the first foundation mare for the farm, producing a Royal Ascot winner and an Italian Derby winner for the family. Forenaghts Stud, our near neighbours, has a long history of breeding and consigning quality stock that compete at the highest level on racecourses around the world. A huge thank you to the Smurfit family and their Stud Manager, Caoimhe Doherty, for their ongoing support.
A warm welcome also to all our racegoers today, including those enjoying hospitality in our Panoramic Restaurant. As well as our pre-booked hospitality, our caterers, Lily & Wild, have plenty of tasty options for racegoers to enjoy in The Post Restaurant and the Coffee Shop in the grandstand, while we have a full bar service in the Circle Lounge. To all owners with a runner here today — best of luck both on and off the track, and we hope to see you in the winner’s enclosure.
Finally, we are already looking forward to the jumps season kicking off here on November 9th for our Return of the Jumps fixture. There are lots of ticket options available at www.naasracecourse.com, so make sure to book early.
Aidan McGarry Manager amcgarry@naasracecourse.com

Today, the Irish EBF Auction Series will have provided over €7 million in prize money with €2.1 million of that directly from Irish Stallion Farms, all since the first running of the series in 2015. The series has hosted 267 races including todays final with over 1,800 horses taking part. Up until last year, all previous final winners were from different trainers and different owners, then in 2024 Jessica Harrington had another Irish EBF Auction Series final winner with FIONA MACCOUL, joining her 2022 winner PANIC ALARM. Who will join the winning roll of honour this year?
The popularity of the series is down to its simplicity, offer great prize money and a wide spread of races to similar priced horses over the season and watch how the industry embrace the concept. The proof is in the wide spread of support from all corners of the industry for the series since its inception. The average purchase price of all horses in the series to date is only €20,000, this is a consistent theme for the series and shows that anyone can participate in the series.
The Irish EBF Auction Series has transformed flat racing ownership in Ireland over the last decade with trainers and owners at every level being catered for and afforded valuable opportunities with juvenile horses. The main purpose of the series was to give valuable race opportunities to horses bought at the middle to lower end of the auction market. Now trainers and owners are sourcing yearlings to target at the series and with a good horse you can win significant prize money, increase their value, sell them on or target the €120,000 final. It’s a win-win series.
Naas Racecourse have played an integral part in the success of the Auction Series and great praise must be given to the board and staff for their hard work and enthusiasm. Naas have built their October weekend meeting around seven Irish Stallion Farm supported races, the popular Birdcatcher Nursery Handicap, two fillies listed races, the Garnet and Bluebell Stakes and three maidens. In total, Irish EBF have added €125,000 of additional prize-money to this weekends racing and I must sincerely thank all the Irish Stallion farms who contribute to the scheme each year to make a weekend like this possible.
I would also like to thank everyone who has supported the series, the owners, trainers, jockeys, breeders, racecourses and Horse Racing Ireland. We wish everyone a great day’s racing and look forward to cheering home the 2025 winner of the Irish EBF Auction Series Final.

Selection MON COEUR
Two important form guides for this race are the Petingo and the recent Irish Cesarewitch. A chance is taken on the Petingo sixth, LORD CHURCH, who may benefit from this step up in trip as well as the added tongue-tie. Light As Air was just touched off in that race and has obvious claims. Admirable veteran Lord Erskine fared best of these in the Cesarewitch and should be thereabouts again. Comfort Zone is last year’s winner and although he finished behind in the aforementioned contests, they were not bad runs. Reserve Saratoga would have a say if getting a run. Sorrentino looks the best of the Mullins’ pair and Jetara is also worth considering. [Denis Harney]

An interesting fillies’ handicap. The first four home at Punchestown last month reoppose, with KASHEL SPRING taken to confirm form with Its All Peachy, Presence and Narlita over this slightly longer trip. The selection’s stablemate Annie’s Angel would be a big player if handling this ground, her best form is in much softer conditions. Topweight Ob La Di is another major threat on her first run since scoring over C&D in early August, while handicap debutante So Golden is also respected. [Alan Hewison]
