such as pharmaceuticals). This is the Italy that Symbola reads, reveals and exposes in these selfies. A country made up of many businesses, communities, people, associations, institutions united by the ambition and the challenge of quality. That which unites ancient traditions and new technologies, research, digital and local craftsmanship, which holds together culture, green economy, com-

petitiveness. It is Italy that shapes Italy.

That looks at a new model of economy, more on a human scale. Some facts: in the agri-food sector we are the first in the world for sustainability (we emit the lowest number of tons of CO2 for millions of euro produced, better than Spain and France, half of Germany and the United Kingdom) and also our industrial production it is the most efficient from an energy point of view; we are the fourth country in the world for export of industrial machinery, after Germany, China and Japan; we are the second for market shares in fashion, after China (40% for the Chinese, 6.6% for us, then for India and Germany). And again: we are the first among the “big” of the EU for the growth of pharmaceutical exports. In a nutshell: we have a solid green economy and growth in cutting-edge industrial sectors, mechanics and “mechatronics”, the cornerstone of a system that is facing the digital challenges of “Industry4.0” and makes us, however, the second manufacturing power of the EU after Germany. Exports show yet another record: 450 billion, almost 8% more than in 2016 and with all the prerequisites (revitalization of the productive fabric, investments, choices of economic policy of the government to better face the international markets) to grow still further in 2018.

The world’s second most competitive country in the manufacturing sectors According to the Trade Performance Index (the UNCTAD/WTO International Trade Centre indicator), Italy ranks second among top international trade players, with Germany taking the leading role. We rank first, second or third for competitiveness in foreign trade* in 8 macro-sectors out of 14 being considered, second only to Germany (9), with China following behind (5).

Most notably, we rank first worldwide in fashion and leather and leather products, second in mechanical engineering, means of transport and textiles. Bearing out our country’s leading role in the global industry is the fifth place we hold in the world ranking of the manufacturing trade balance with $ 99.1 billion (G20, 2016). * Measured by considering 5 indicators: trade balance; pro capita exports; exports; level of diversification of markets and products.

Italy’s leadership in Europe for its efficient use of Resources in manufacturing processes Italy’s manufacturing system has proved to be one of the most innovative from an environmental perspective thanks to a more efficient use of energy and materials. Product being the same, firms producing Made in Italy products use less energy: with 13.7 tonnes of oil equivalent per € million produced, only the United Kingdom fares better (8.3 TOE) among EU’s Big 5, though the UK’s economy is more finance-driven); we are in fact more efficient than France (14.4 TOE), Spain (15 TOE) and Germany (17.1 TOE), scoring definitely better than Community average (16.6 TOE). When it comes to using raw materials per unit of product, Italy ranks second again behind the United Kingdom (223.4 tonnes per Euro Sans million of output), using 256.3 tonnes of materials per Euro Sans million, a figure well below that of France (340), Spain (356.7) and Germany (423.6). Italy’s figure almost halved as compared to 2008 (493.4).

Sustainability: green jobs in Italy total 3 million, 13.1% of total jobs The green economy in Italy already accounts for 2,964,000 green jobs (latest figure available, 2016), i.e. employees using “green” skills: 13.1% of total jobs nation-wide. In 2017, 320,000 new green jobs were expected to be created.

In design and R&D corporate areas, almost 60% of job titles are green, bearing out the fact that innovation is a key green economy enabler.

Design is one of Italy’s key industries. Our country ranks second among Europe’s large economies — behind the United Kingdom (0.17%) — with design turnover accounting for 0.15% of the total economy, almost twice the European Union average (0.09%), much more than Germany (0.06%) as well as France and Spain (0.05%). In addition, with almost 10,000 projects Italy is Europe’s second largest power in terms of registered designs. As a whole, out of the 32 aggregate categories of the Registered Community Design (the Community instrument for registering industrial projects and designs) we rank among the top three countries in 22 cases in terms of absolute numbers. We hold first place in 4 cases (food, decoration items, musical instruments, logos), second place in 8 cases (textiles, travel goods, artificial textiles, interior design, household goods, advertising systems and store signs, sanitary, distribution, heating and conditioning systems, lighting equipment) and third place in 10 cases (cleaning products, packages and containers, watchmaking, means of transport, machinery, photographic, cinema and optical equipment, printing and office machines, hunting and fishing goods, construction and construction items, food preparation equipment).

SELFIE 5. Culture, beauty and creativity account for 16.7% of GDP The culture sector accounts for € 89.9 billion, 6% of the wealth produced in Italy in 2016. About € 90 billion that sets in motion a further € 160 billion in the rest of the economy: € 1.78 for each euro produced by culture, totalling € 250 billion produced by the entire cultural pipeline (16.7% of GDP), with tourism benefitting the most from this lever effect. Culture and creativity also account for 6.1% of total jobs in Italy (1.5 million people). Italy has proven to be the preferred destination of non-European tourists travelling to the Eurozone. In 2016, it ranked first in terms of number of overnight stays of non-European tourists, with overnights in excess of 60 million, well ahead of Spain (46.5 million), France (36.6 million) and Germany (31.8 million).

Italy’s agriculture ranks first among the major European countries in terms of reduction of climatechanging emissions. Indeed, with 678 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per € million produced we do much better than Spain (912), France (1,060), Germany (1,355), United Kingdom (1,412) and 28-Member EU average (1,073). We also use energy effectively, ranking third among the EU largest countries with 46 tonnes of oil equivalent per € million produced, after the United Kingdom and Spain. Italy is the only country in the world that can boast 859 DOP, IGP and STG products in this special ranking of taste and typical products, ahead of France (756), Spain (355), Greece (272), Portugal (197) and Germany (163). We are also leaders in food safety, with the lowest number of agrifoodstuffs showing chemical residues: 0.5%, i.e. almost 3.2 times lower than the European average (1.6%) and as many as 12 times lower than non-European products (5.7%). We are also second to none when it comes to the number of companies engaging in biological endeavours (72,154) the highest number of all the other large European countries. These characteristics further allow Italy to rank second (with € 31.6 billion) in Europe, after France (€ 32.7 billion) in terms of added value afforded by agriculture, forestry and fisheries.

Pharma industry: among Europe’s leaders in Terms of export growth In the period spanning 2010-2016, i.e. during the crisis, Italy’s pharma industry witnessed a 52% growth in exports, more than the 28-Member EU average (+32%) and the other major European players (Germany +40%, Spain and the United Kingdom +17%, France +8%).

Moreover, with a production of € 30 million Italy is the second largest European country after Germany (€ 31 billion) and ahead of France (€ 21 billion), United Kingdom (€ 20 billion) and Spain (€ 16 billion).

With 30% of total exports from the EU to the rest of the world, Italy is Europe’s top exporting country in the wood furnishing industry, followed by Germany (20%), Poland (8%), Sweden, France, Denmark and Spain (5%) and the United Kingdom (4%), corporate environmental policies also playing a role to this end. For example, we are European leaders in the use of recycled wood for the production of chipboard panels, with the share of recycling materials standing at 90%. Italy also makes it to the podium in world production, ranking third after China (€ 115 billion) and the USA (€ 66 billion) in the production of furnishings (€ 21.2 billion).

Machinery: among top world leaders in trade surplus With a surplus totalling $ 57.7 billion, Italy’s machinery industry is part of the leading group of the trade balance international ranking, behind Germany ($ 104. billion), China ($ 83.6 billion) and Japan ($ 70 billion). Most exported products include agriculture and tobacco machinery, food industry machinery, machinery for the processing of wood, metal, plastic materials and non-metallic minerals (such as ornamental stones and ceramics), packaging and merry-go-round machinery, much appreciated for their low-consumption features, performance being equal.

Italy’s fashion industry proved more resilient to the crisis of recent years as compared to other European countries, strengthening its international leadership position, with corporate environmental policies also playing a role in this respect. We are the world’s second largest country in terms of market shares held (6.6%) after China (40.4%) and ahead of India (4.7%), Hong Kong (3.9%). Today, Italy also produces more than 1/3rd of the entire added value of the fashion industry in the 28-Member EU, three times more than Germany, four times more than France and Spain. As compared to other European leaders, Italy also managed to maintain the chain of production structure to a larger extent. Weaving and finishing, for example, both playing a pivotal role in the textile sector, still account for 1/3 rd of Italy’s fashion industry added value, unlike France — which is at the opposite side of the scale — where they dropped to 15%.

energetico; siamo il quarto paese al mondo per export di macchinari industriali, dopo Germania, Cina e Giappone; siamo il secondo per quote di mercato nella moda, dopo la Cina (il 40% i cinesi, il 6,6% noi, poi l’India e la Germania). E ancora: siamo i primi tra i “grandi” della UE per crescita dell’export della farmaceutica. In poche parole: abbiamo una solida green economy e cresciamo in settori industriali d’avanguardia, la meccanica e la “meccatronica”, cardine di un sistema che sta affrontando bene le sfide digitali di “Industry4.0” e fa di noi, comunque, la seconda potenza manifatturiera della UE dopo la Germania. L’export segna ancora un record: 450 miliardi, quasi l’8% in più che nel 2016 e con tutte le premesse (rivitalizzazione del tessuto produttivo, investimenti, scelte di politica economica del governo per affrontare meglio i mercati internazionali) perché si cresca ancora pure nel 2018.

prodotto le imprese made in Italy consumano meno energia: con 13,7 tonnellate equivalenti di petrolio per milione di euro prodotto, tra i Big5 Ue solo le imprese della Gran Bretagna (cha ha però un’economia più legata alla finanza) fanno meglio (8,3 TEP). Mentre siamo più efficienti di francesi (14,4 TEP), spagnoli (15 TEP) e tedeschi (17,1 TEP), facendo molto meglio della media comunitaria (16,6).

Riguardo all’impiego di materia prima per unità di prodotto, la penisola si posiziona seconda ancora una volta dietro al Regno Unito (223,4 tonnellate per milione di euro di output), con un utilizzo di 256,3 tonnellate di materia per milione di euro, valore di gran lunga inferiore a quello di Francia (340), Spagna (356,7) e Germania (423,6).

Il dato italiano è quasi dimezzato rispetto al 2008 (493,4).

Inoltre l’Italia, con quasi 10.000 progetti, si conferma seconda potenza dell’Unione europea per numero di disegni registrati.

Nel complesso, sulle 32 categorie aggregate del Registered Community Design (lo strumento comunitario di registrazione dei progetti e disegni in ambito industriale), in 22 casi ci collochiamo tra i primi tre Paesi per numero assoluto. Saliamo sul podio in 4 casi come primi (cibo, articoli di ornamento, strumenti musicali, loghi), in 8 come secondi (tessile, articoli da viaggio, tessili artificiali, arredamento, articoli per la casa, impianti pubblicitari e insegne, impianti sanitari, di distribuzione, riscaldamento e condizionamento, apparecchi di illuminazione) e in 10 casi come terzi (articoli per la pulizia, pacchetti e contenitori, orologeria, mezzi di trasporto, macchinari, strumenti fotografici, cinematografici e ottici, stampa e macchine per ufficio, articoli per la caccia e la pesca, costruzione ed elementi per

le costruzioni, macchine per la preparazione di cibi).

SELFIE 5. Cultura, bellezza e creatività valgono il 16,7% del pil Alla filiera della cultura l’Italia deve 89,9 miliardi di €, il 6 % della ricchezza prodotta nel Paese nel 2016. Questi quasi 90 miliardi ne mettono in moto altri 160 nel resto dell’economia: 1,78 € per ogni euro prodotto dalla cultura. Si arriva così a 250 mld prodotti dall’intera filiera culturale (il 16,7% del Pil), col turismo come principale beneficiario di questo effetto volano. Cultura e creatività danno inoltre lavoro al 6,1% del totale degli occupati in Italia, 1,5 mln di persone.

L’Italia si conferma la meta dell’eurozona preferita dai turisti extraeuropei. Nel 2016 è il primo paese per numero di pernottamenti di turisti extra europei, con oltre 60 milioni di notti, saldamente davanti a Spagna (46,5 milioni), Francia (36,6 milioni), e Germania (31,8 milioni). Un dato che riguarda in particolare i piccoli comuni, dove la percentuale di aumento dei turisti stranieri è quasi tre volte quella nazionale.

Agroalimentare: primi in sostenibilità L’agricoltura made in Italy è prima tra i grandi paesi europei per riduzione delle emissioni climalteranti: con 678 tonnellate di CO2 equivalente per milione di euro prodotto facciamo molto meglio di Spagna (912), Francia (1.060), Germania (1.355), Gran Bretagna (1.412) e della media Ue28 (1.073). Siamo efficienti anche nell’uso di energia, terzi tra i big Ue con 46 tonnellate di petrolio equivalente per milione di euro prodotto, dopo Gran Bretagna e Spagna. L’Italia è l’unico paese al mondo che può vantare 859 prodotti Doc, Dop, Igp e Stg, prima in questa speciale classifica del gusto e della tipicità davanti a Francia (756), Spagna (355), Grecia (272), Portogallo (197) e Germania (163). Siamo al vertice della sicurezza alimentare con il minor numero di prodotti agroalimentari con residui chimici: lo 0,5%, quota inferiore di quasi 3,2 volte rispetto alla media europea (1,6%) e di oltre 12 volte quella dei prodotti extracomunitari (5,7%).

E non abbiamo rivali per numero di aziende che operano nel mondo biologico (72.154), il numero maggiore tra tutti gli altri big europei. Anche grazie a queste caratteristiche l’Italia (con 31,6 miliardi di €) è il secondo paese in Europa dopo la Francia (32,7 miliardi) per valore aggiunto del settore dell’agricoltura, silvicoltura e pesca.

Anche nella produzione a livello mondiale l’Italia è sul podio: siamo il terzo paese dopo Cina (115 mld ) e Usa (66 mld ) nella produzione di arredo con 21,2 mld €.

Tra i prodotti più esportati le macchine per l’agricoltura e il tabacco, quelle per l’industria alimentare, quelle per lavorare legno, metalli, materie plastiche e minerali non metalliferi (pietre ornamentali e ceramica, ad esempio), macchine per imballaggi e giostre, apprezzate particolarmente per l’attenzione al minor consumo di energia a parità di prestazione.

Moda: secondi al mondo per quote di mercato Nell’industria della moda l’Italia, grazie anche alle scelte ambientali delle imprese, ha reagito meglio degli altri Paesi Europei alla crisi degli anni recenti, rafforzando la sua posizione di leadership internazionale. Siamo infatti il secondo paese al mondo per quote di mercato (6,6%), dopo la Cina (40,4%) e davanti a India (4,7%), Germania (4,7%), Hong Kong (3,9%). L’Italia, inoltre, produce oggi oltre 1/3 di tutto il valore aggiunto del settore della moda nell’Ue28, il triplo della Germania, 4 volte quello di Francia e Spagna. Rispetto agli altri leader europei, inoltre, ha saputo mantenere in maggior misura la struttura della filiera produttiva. • by Uberto Marni ecovery appears to be no longer just a campaign promise; the effects of appropriate fiscal policy combined with faster growth rates, and doubtlessly, the commitment of Italy’s entrepreneurial class, have made the difference in guiding the nation towards more receptive markets and supporting the development of sales. Total industrial turnover rose by more than five percent (5.1%) in 2017, the highest growth in recent years. Not all market sectors obviously react in the same way, even if Italian industry’s order book

was up 6.5% by the end of 2017, a value that can only raise hope for more growth in the future. With the appropriate caution, recovery seems to have spread to every sector, following an initial phase in which only “big players” like the automobile and pharmaceutical industries succeeded in growing while other segments stalled.

SOUTHERN EUROPE IS GROWING Italy is the “first seed” of Southern Europe, an area that has been severely penalized by the crisis, as has been seen in Greece, for example. The

Iberian peninsula and Italy showed positive growth and improved public accounts in 2017, and above all, increased confidence in the market by consumers and businesses alike.

The preconditions for an imminent phase of growth in Southern Europe are all present, even if the real difference will obviously be made by economic and tax policies in a market situation that still remains unclear. Recovery began some time ago thanks to the higher growth in domestic consumption enabled by various factors, such as low inflation and higher average income, but the lion’s share of the credit is due to the industrial investments that have been growing significantly thanks to the tax deduction policies implemented in recent years, such as the hyper-amortization (250%) and super-amortization (140%) of the

THE CLEANING MARKET: 1.645 BILLION EUROS

BY THE END OF 2016 The value of the market at the end of 2016 including every category of product and all sales in Italy and abroad amounted to 1,645,148,792 Euros, up 2.3% over the 1,608,155,604 euros recorded in 2015. Development was powered by sales in the national market that grew by 3.4%, while the growth rate abroad was lower (1.4%). At any rate, exports already accounted for 61.7% of the market’s total in 2015, and rose to 62.1% in 2016 in the wake of steady growth over numerous years that began expanding more solidly in 2010. The effects of the crisis on the Cleaning business but also more in general were experienced primarily in the domestic market with shrinking demand, financial difficulties, and

massive resort to futile care for machines that had long outlived their use. In 2016, as we have seen instead, growth was driven precisely by the national market as saturation levels rose abroad, but above all, by the return of investment in new productive areas for the Cleaning sector enabled by the Italian fiscal policies mentioned above.

Italy vaunts good positioning in both mechanics - therefore machinery and equipment – and the vital paper industry, where Italy and Germany battle for leadership as Europe’s leading producer. The first seeds in Cleaning in 2016 were Paper accounting for 33.5% of the market and around 552 million euros, and Machinery, which absorbed 31.5% of the market and 519 million euros in sales. These two were followed by Chemicals, claiming 12.7% and 209 million euros, and “Other Products”, accounting for 11% and 181 million euros.

Paper, in fact, maintained and increased exports during 2016, when the share of exports rose from 52.5% to 53.2%. In all other Cleaning sectors except for Chemicals (+0.33%), exports dropped off in 2015, even if only slightly (from -0.61% for “Accessories + Spare Parts” to -3.5% for “Other Products”).

La ripresa non sembra essere più solo un’ipotesi da campagna elettorale; gli effetti di appropriate politiche fiscali, uniti a tassi di sviluppo più rapidi e, senza dubbio, l’impegno della classe imprenditoriale italiana, hanno fatto la differenza, guidando l’Italia verso mercati più ricettivi e sostenendo lo sviluppo delle vendite. Il fatturato nazionale dell’industria, nel 2017, ha avuto un incremento maggiore al cinque per cento (+5,1%); la crescita più elevata degli ultimi anni.

I diversi ambiti di mercato, ovviamente, si comportano in maniera differenziata, anche se, in generale, il portafoglio ordini dell’industria italiana a fine 2017 mostrava un +6,5%, dato che non può che fare ben sperare nella crescita futura. La ripresa, con le opportune cautele, sembra ormai essere diffusa in tutti i settori, dopo una fase iniziale in cui solo i “grandi”, come l’automotive e farmaceutica riuscivano a crescere, mentre gli altri segmenti segnavano il passo.

Cresce il Sud Europa Il nostro paese è la “testa di serie” dell’Europa meridionale, un’area fortemente penalizzata dalla crisi, come abbiamo visto per la Grecia, per esempio. La penisola iberica e l’Italia hanno fatto registrare crescite positive nel 2017, con il miglioramento dei conti e, soprattutto, un notevole effetto fiducia da parte di mercati sia consumer sia business. I presupposti per una fase di crescita del sud Europa sono tuti presenti, anche se, ovviamente, saranno le politiche economiche e fiscali a fare la differenza, in una situazione ancora così poco chiara per il mercato. La ripresa

è partita qualche tempo fa grazie alla dinamica di crescita dei consumi, che hanno potuto svilupparsi a tassi più elevati per effetto di diversi fattori, come il contenimento dell’inflazione e l’incremento del reddito medio. Ma la parte del leone la stanno giocando gli investimenti industriali che crescono in maniera importante, grazie alle politiche di defiscalizzazione degli ultimi anni, come l’iper-ammortamento (250% del bene strumentale) e il super ammortamento (140%). Gli effetti delle politiche fiscali italiane sono ben noti alle aziende del Cleaning, che da qualche tempo hanno visto rinnovarsi la domanda di macchine nuove, mentre calavano le richieste nell’usato o per interventi di manutenzione straordinaria per macchine “bollite”, ormai arrivate a fine ciclo.

Cleaning: Un Miliardo e 645 Milioni a fine 2016 Il valore del mercato, includendo tutte le categorie di prodotto e le vendite in Italia e all’estero, a fine 2016 era pari a 1.645.148.792 Euro, in crescita del 2,3% rispetto al 2015, che aveva fatto registrare 1.608.155.604. Lo sviluppo era guidato dalle vendite nazionali, che crescevano del +3,4%, mentre all’estero lo sviluppo è stato inferiore (+1,4%).

Le esportazioni, in ogni caso, già nel 2015 rappresentavano il 61,7% del totale del mercato - nel 2016 il 62,1% - con una dinamica di crescita sostenuta da molti anni, che ha conosciuto una fase di espansione più marcata, a partire dal 2010. Gli effetti della crisi, nel Cleaning ma

anche più in generale, si sono fatti sentire soprattutto sul mercato interno con contrazioni nella domanda, difficoltà finanziarie e massiccio ricorso all’accanimento terapeutico su macchine decisamente oltre i limiti della propria resistenza. Nel corso del 2016, invece, come abbiamo visto è stato proprio il mercato nazionale a guidare la crescita, con livelli di saturazione crescente all’estero ma, soprattutto, con il ritorno agli investimenti in nuovi fattori produttivi per il comparto del Cleaning, dovuto alle politiche fiscali italiane, di cui abbiamo già parlato.

Il nostro paese gode di un buon posizionamento, sia nell’ambito della meccanica, quindi per macchine e attrezzature, sia per l’importante comparto della carta, che vede l’Italia e la Germania combattersi la leadership come primo paese per produzione in Europa. Teste di serie nel Cleaning 2016 si conferma la Carta, con il 33,5% del mercato, pari a circa 552 milioni e le Macchine, che con circa 519 milioni coprono il 31,5% del mercato. Segue la chimica, che porta a casa un 12,7%, con 209 milioni e gli “Altri Prodotti”, con 181 milioni e l’undici per cento.

Di fatto è stata proprio la carta a mantenere e sviluppare le esportazioni nel corso del 2016: la quota di esportazione è andata crescendo, nel 2016, dal 52,5% al 53,2%. In tutti gli altri ambiti del Cleaning, con l’eccezione dei Chimici (+0,33%), le esportazioni sono state inferiori al 2015, anche se di misura (da -0,61% per “Accessori + Ricambi Macchine” a -3,5% per gli “Altri Prodotti”).

The competition is tough, because to the offer of big multinationals, which can count on economies of scale and very high numbers per every single machine, Low-Cost productions are added. Often, they are characterized by a low quality and they come from the Far-East.

Italy moves in a context defined more by the constructive quality and reliability of its machines than the price war to the last cent that often defines lower quality products. The issues that substantiate today’s offer are therefore Sustainability, Know-How, Service and Vocation for Craftsmanship, the latter being typical of Italy.

Soddisfazioni sui mercati esteri L’eccellenza della produzione italiana di macchine per il cleaning professionale e industriale è universalmente riconosciuta, come dimostrano gli elevati volumi delle esportazioni • di Uberto Marni Tra le imprese più attive nei mercati di esportazione, RCM, azienda storica leader nella produzione di motospazzatrici e lavasciugapavimenti. «Esportiamo oltre il 75% della nostra produzione - precisa Daniele Sambati, responsabile commerciale -, con una proposta basata su alti livelli di qualità e di innovazione, come la fuel cell, l’ozono, la trazione integrale. Siamo presenti in Europa, in America, in Medio Oriente, Corea, Giappone, Cina, nonostante ci troviamo a competere con colossi americani e tedeschi che coprono la maggior parte del Mercato mondiale grazie alla loro forza di penetrazione». La competizione è dura, perché all’offerta delle grandi multinazionali, che possono contare su economie di scala e numeri molto elevati per singola macchina, si aggiungono le produzioni Low-Cost, spesso di bassa qualità, che provengono dal Far-East. Il nostro paese, per storia e industrializzazione più antica, si muove in un ambito che è più definito dalla qualità costruttiva e dall’affidabilità delle macchine, che non dalla guerra all’ultimo centesimo con prodotti più scadenti. I temi che oggi danno valore all’offerta sono quindi la sostenibilità ambientale, il Know-how, il servizio e la vocazione artigianale. Ancora Daniele Sambati: «RCM ha indirizzato i propri sforzi verso il rispetto dell’ambiente: le nostre macchine hanno tutte sistemi di risparmio energetico e di contenimento del consumo di materiali e prodotti.

La vocazione artigianale, con cui sono nate la maggior parte delle aziende, si è evoluta negli anni e oggi in RCM utilizziamo gli strumenti tecnologici più moderni ma senza perdere di vista quella flessibilità, in senso lato, che ci permette di competere con la maggiore rigidità di strutture più grandi e che ci garantisce l’accesso in diversi mercati esteri». Anche per Dante Rossetti, responsabile marketing di Lavorwash S.p.A, «Il fatto che le nostre macchine siano concepite con particolare riguardo all’ambiente ci premia all’estero. Di recente ci siamo affacciati su nuovi mercati e abbiamo avuto risposte soddisfacenti da Medio Oriente, Cina, Russia, Romania, Corea, Thailandia, Giappone e Indonesia». L’attenzione alle politiche ambientali è un plus anche per Michele Massaro, AD di Lindhaus: «Il successo delle nostre attività all’estero è ormai basato anche sulla nostra attitudine alla produzione Green, sia in termini di macchine progettate con maggiore attenzione all’ambiente sia per le stesse modalità di produzione, con modelli di sviluppo che hanno poco o niente da invidiare alle economie che tradizionalmente sono considerate più verdi. Le nostre sono macchine che durano nel tempo. La durata media delle macchine per uso domestico è di 15-20 anni; di quelle per uso professionale 8-10 anni, di conseguenza c’è molto meno materiale da smaltire». Centrale anche la vocazione artigianale di Lindhaus che si qualifica per produzioni medio piccole a prezzi competitivi di modelli differenziati, con consegne veloci. Lindhaus offre in Europa tutta la gamma in pronta consegna; il che significa investimenti molto inferiori da parte dei rivenditori e più frequenza negli ordinativi e nelle consegne.

Un’azienda che possiede un DNA molto Green è quella di Laura Passuello, STI Industry, che realizza macchine a vapore: « I contenuti verdi, nelle nostre fasce di mercato, sono una conditio sine qua non: un pre-requisito per l’accesso alla clientela più esigente, che utilizza il vapore in luogo dei detergenti tradizionali, mostrando livelli di attenzione all’ambiente senza dubbio più marcati di coloro che sgrassano con altri sistemi; inoltre proponiamo anche l’adozione di disinfettanti naturali, come il Tea-Tree o l’Eucalipto, più costosi di quelli chimici, ma decisamente meno impattanti. Oltre che dalla garanzia di affidabilità e qualità costruttiva delle nostre macchine, i clienti esteri sono molto colpiti anche dalla localizzazione agreste della nostra struttura produttiva, in piena campagna, e dalle nostre modalità di produzione con regole che prevedono la massima attenzione alla pulizia e all’ordine, in ambienti più simili a oreficerie che a officine meccaniche. Siamo coerenti in tutto».

Pertanto abbiamo intenzione di investire molto sulla struttura di distribuzione, raddoppiando i nostri concessionari all’estero ». Azienda di successo anche Klindex, che esporta gran parte della produzione, con un trend sempre in crescita.

Il direttore generale Ercole Bibiano conferma: «Siamo riconosciuti nel mondo come leader nel segmento di nicchia delle macchine per la lucidatura del marmo, senza concorrenti per le fasce più elevate di questo mercato. I nostri prodotti sono commercializzati con servizi di formazione, assistenza specifica per lo start-up di nuovi cantieri, con un nostro tecnico inviato presso la sede del cantiere e, se necessario, anche con la disponibilità di un supervisore dei lavori per due o tre mesi. Affidabilità ed efficienza nel lungo periodo ci sono ormai riconosciuti dai clienti internazionali, le nostre macchine sono ritenute il top, per cui le aziende si aspettano costi più elevati rispetto all’offerta standard; le nostre macchine sono ergonomiche e semplici da utilizzare, come Autopilot, che è anche in grado di lavorare senza operatore». Quello della lucidatura del cemento è un segmento in forte sviluppo in cui l’azienda offre macchine adatte a grandi estensioni, come i capannoni industriali, gli aeroporti o i grandi centri commerciali che scelgono una pavimentazione di questo tipo.

espite the cost of shipping, the Made in Italy prestige and elevated quality – on the average – of detergent production has by now been internationally acknowledged.

Italy offers convincing logic in this field as well, for example the CAM requisites in force for the past few years that have guided producers’ choices and given origin to ranges of product with increasingly more respect for the environment, higher concentration levels, and packaging with lower environmental impact.

The most appropriate of the many testimonies gathered to start with is Luigi Rubino, CEO of Rubino Chem, who is emphatically satisfied by the introduction of CAM requisites and their specific effects on industrial development and the entire sector, which is now better oriented and

Detergenti, Carta, Attrezzature: innovazione e rispetto per l’ambiente Tecnologie all’avanguardia, sensibilità ambientale, performance al top confermano l’eccellenza della produzione italiana • di Uberto Marni Anche nel comparto detergenti, nonostante l’handicap del trasporto, la produzione italiana si fa apprezzare all’estero per l’elevata qualità e le ottime performance, tanto è vero che da qualche anno a questa parte l’esportazione è in continua crescita. Un contributo importante è senza dubbio venuto dall’introduzione, per gli appalti pubblici, delle norme CAM (Criteri Ambientali Minimi), che hanno indirizzato le scelte dei produttori verso formulati sempre più “verdi”, con livelli di concentrazione elevati e con packaging meno impattanti per l’ambiente.

Luigi Rubino CEO di Rubino Chem, è decisamente soddisfatto dell’introduzione delle norme CAM per gli effetti specifici prodotti sullo sviluppo industriale dell’intero settore: «L’impatto delle norme CAM nel nostro settore è assolutamente positivo: stimola i reparti di ricerca e sviluppo, con continue ventate innovative per detergenti e prodotti chimici; condividiamo i principi di tutela per l’ambiente e riteniamo che i CAM siano essenziali, per indirizzare l’evoluzione verso una maggiore attenzione all’ambiente».

L’auspicio, a sentire molti produttori, è che le norme che proteggono l’ambiente siano estese dalla composizione dei prodotti verso la supply chain, fino al tipo di packaging e alle modalità di trasporto e immagazzinamento dei prodotti, per indirizzare le linee guida della ristrutturazione di filiera, in un’ottica che tenda all’economia circolare, con sforzi da parte di tutti gli attori presenti e modalità più efficienti e meno inquinanti in tutte le “pieghe” della catena di

produzione e distribuzione. Il modello sotteso alla definizione dei nostri CAM è moderno e internazionale, in linea con le politiche di quei paesi che hanno normative ambientali molto rigide. La coscienza “verde” nel comparto del Cleaning ha oggi decisamente “una marcia in più”, rispetto all’offerta prima dei CAM. Punta di diamante tra le nostre aziende per le esportazioni è senza dubbio Arco Chimica, come conferma Luca Cocconi, AD dell’azienda: «Per quanto ci riguarda, negli ultimi anni abbiamo sviluppato la nostra presenza commerciale su alcuni mercati esteri che hanno dimostrato una certa attenzione alla nostra proposta di una detergenza innovativa e rispettosa dell’ambiente; partendo dall’Europa, mi riferisco in particolare a Spagna, Portogallo, Irlanda, Svizzera, Austria, Francia, Germania, Grecia, Romania, Malta, ma anche Polonia, Slovenia, Croazia, Inghilterra e Turchia, paesi nei quali stiamo realizzando significativi progetti di sviluppo. Oltre i confini continentali, ARCO Chimica sta maturando interessanti rapporti di partnership commerciale in Perù, Brasile, Cile, Angola e Giordania».

Fabio Re, AD di Polychim, che esporta in Svizzera e Russia , vede il «mercato Russo come potenzialmente molto interessante, con lo svantaggio di subire molto le influenze politiche legate alle difficili relazioni internazionali di Putin con i paesi occidentali». Il patron di Polychim ha chiare opinioni sulla percezione delle nostre aziende nei mercati d’esportazione: «Ritengo che la qualità elevata dei prodotti Italiani, unitamente alla capacità di proporre soluzioni “taylor made” ti-

piche di realtà produttive medio-piccole molto attente alle esigenze dei clienti (più che alla ricerca esasperata di sinergie produttive), siano le principali armi competitive delle aziende made in Italy. Se a queste si aggiunge anche un approccio Green, particolarmente gradito dai consumatori dei paesi occidentali, penso che la proposta delle nostre aziende abbia le carte in regola per essere competitiva e vincente».

Ostacoli da superare «I nostri prodotti sono molto apprezzati all’estero, ma l’esportazione è resa difficile dagli elevati costi di trasporto», sottolinea Marco Campetella, titolare di Itidet,. «Abbiamo ormai consolidato le attività sul mercato spagnolo, con prodotti di alta fascia che vengono apprezzati per la loro unicità, ma l’accesso ad altri mercati di esportazione viene regolarmente limitato dalle tariffe di trasporto, troppo elevate per mantenere il prezzo finale in un range accettabile per la clientela».

«La crescita nelle esportazioni – sostiene Matteo Marino, AD di Kemika – è un effetto delle strategie di sviluppo del comparto chimico: per esempio, con un mercato interno in contrazione, Kemika, insieme con molte aziende concorrenti, ha investito in misura crescente per entrare o sviluppare mercati esteri, più o meno vicini, ma comunque entro un migliaio di chilometri dagli stabilimenti produttivi». Marino introduce il concetto del “raggio di convenienza”, che, peraltro, ha le sue deroghe: «Prodotti di alta fascia, superconcentrati e semilavorati, in realtà, sono convenienti anche per mercati più distanti,

con la necessità, per la distribuzione locale, di disporre di impianti industriali per l’ultimazione del prodotto, nel caso dei semilavorati oppure di semplice diluizione, se superconcentrati».

Carta ad hoc Le aziende italiane del comparto cartario sono forti esportatrici (oltre il 50% della produzione) e forti innovatrici. Come Lucart, il cui Corporate Sales & Marketing Director AFH Francesco Pasquini spiega: «La nostra realtà, nell’ultimo biennio, ha rafforzato la propria presenza internazionale in Europa attraverso l’acquisizione di 4 stabilimenti (uno in Ungheria e tre in Spagna), la costituzione di un reparto Trade Marketing internazionale, la creazione di programmi di partnership privilegiata per clienti, il presidio dei brand della divisione alle principali fiere di settore e ai convegni internazionali; Lucart si pone quale player internazionale senza mai dimenticare la propria natura originaria di azienda italiana, legata in particolare all’eccellenza qualitativa dei distretti cartari italiani». La sempre maggiore attenzione ai temi della sostenibilità da parte di Paesi dell’Europa continentale e settentrionale sta consentendo la penetrazione da parte di Lucart di ulteriori comparti AFH. Lucart

è azienda “pioniere” nelle migliori pratiche per lo sviluppo dell’economia circolare, attraverso il recupero dei componenti dei cartoni per bevande per la produzione di carta tissue e di dispenser, perché, afferma Pasquini, «L’attenzione al mondo della sostenibilità, la concreta implementazione dei principi di Economia Circolare è, a parere nostro e della clientela più sensibile, ormai un elemento distintivo e rilevante, per gli effetti sulla catena del valore e sulla percezione dell’utente finale».

Per Attilio Giannasi, direttore commerciale di Celtex: «La nostra produzione ottiene successo sia nei paesi di esportazione più tradizionali, come Francia, Germania e nord Europa, sia nei mercati emergenti dell’est e in Russia, perché siamo attenti alle reali esigenze dei nostri clienti, che ovviamente rispecchiano le realtà locali, e presentiamo un ventaglio di proposte in grado di soddisfare appieno la domanda e la sempre più crescente sensibilità ambientale».

Qualità a prezzi adeguati Anche il comparto delle attrezzature gode di grande considerazione a livello internazionale, come conferma Andrea Loro Piana, titolare di Falpi, azienda all’avanguardia nella realizzazio-

ne di attrezzature e carrelli. «La percezione delle nostre aziende all’estero, in generale e non solo di Falpi, è di grande serietà e affidabilità, trasparenza e certezza per la soddisfazione degli impegni presi; questo, naturalmente, a corollario di un’offerta con gamme di prodotto di elevato livello qualitativo a prezzi adeguati».

Anche per Denis Scapin, Direttore Commerciale Italia di TTS Cleaning: «I mercati esteri considerano le attrezzature italiane come le più valide dal punto di vista estetico, ben realizzate, solide e con prezzi adeguati. La forte concorrenza di un’offerta dichiaratamente low-cost ci ha condizionato negativamente nel 2016, tuttavia sembra esservi una costante modesta ripresa in questi ultimi 14 mesi, in particolar modo se parliamo di carrelli per il settore professionale.

Non dobbiamo dimenticare che sono uno strumento fondamentale per il lavoro quotidiano di moltissimi operatori che preferiscono dare il giusto peso a determinati fattori molto importanti, non solo per l’effettiva efficacia dei prodotti ma anche per la salute di chi li utilizza ogni giorno: l’ergonomia, la durata e la versatilità si riconfermano infatti i concetti chiave che determinano il valore di un carrello e ne dovrebbero guidare la scelta».

R

ecent years have been characterized by a lively discussion of which hand drier system is the most hygienic. Contrasting opinions have increased the confusion created by the alternation of scientific debate and marketing logic. Paper producers cite university studies in English that demonstrate electric hand driers to be less hygienic than paper and fabric hand drying systems. Electric hand drier manufacturers counter the affirmation by saying that such studies were conducted under artificial conditions by using an unrealistic concentration of viruses and bacteria and drying with blades of air hands covered by gloves that had not been washed in the first place: in short, ignoring the much more important step that occurs previously, the washing of the

hands. How can such contrasting positions be reconciled? Through innovation and the development of new generations of products made in Italy with higher and higher performance in terms of hygiene.
