The Quest Annual Fund 2013-2014

You make a difference every day for our students

Thank you 2012-13 Quest Annual Fund contributors! The following are prime examples of how your generosity impacted teaching and learning at Quest Academy last year, all which could not have been accomplished without the Quest Annual Fund.

Preschool Move “The children benefited immediately from the opportunity we had to design and create the most intentional and flexible use of space for individual, small group, and whole class explorations.”

—Cindy Riess, Pre-Kindergarten teacher

Lower & Middle School Technology Advancements “With the new Macbook Pro and iPad devices in the classroom, students can access and integrate a broader range of academic learning, including knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, in every art class that I teach.” —Hether

Hoffmann, Art teacher

Professional Development “Bringing renowned gifted education expert Dr. Joseph Renzulli in for a full-day of professional development demonstrates Quest Academy’s commitment to making our faculty the best they can be.” —Ben

Hebebrand, Head of School

Please consider supporting the 2013-14 Quest Annual Fund. Your gift will help maximize the benefits of a Quest education. The following are highlights of how your contribution will impact teaching and learning at Quest this year.

Professional Development for our Exceptional Faculty Positive Discipline All faculty certified as Positive Discipline educators. Students will benefit from the consistent behavior expectations - rooted in the idea of firmness and kindness. Common Core Your child’s classroom teacher will be knowledgeable about Common Core and its applications for gifted learning as a result of Dr. Jim Curry’s workshop. Invent To Learn Your child’s learning experiences at Quest will benefit from the added dimension of “making” as a result of Dr. Gary Stager’s workshop and the reading of his book Invent to Learn. *Five faculty members will also be attending the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) Conference.

Chromebooks For All Middle School Students “Obtaining the Google Chromebooks will help us establish a technology foundation for our Middle School teachers to begin building a 21st century blended learning environment. Students no longer need to waste time waiting for the computers to load. Instead, if a student needs to check a fact online, in math class, or in LASS, they can simply do so. Students can also record audio for Mandarin, create works of art on these devices, and more.”

—Vinnie Vrotny, Director of Academic Technology

Safety Enhancements Improved sign-in procedures and radios for all faculty and staff help increase the safety of all Quest students. “Keeping our students, faculty, and staff safe is one of our most important jobs.”

— Ben Hebebrand, Head of School

Who should contribute and how much? All families are asked to support the Quest Annual Fund at the level each family deems appropriate. Last year, gifts ranged from $10 to $20,000. Other contributions to the Quest Annual Fund come from faculty/staff; trustees; corporations (through matching gift programs); foundations; alumni parents; alumni; grandparents; and friends of the School. Every gift is greatly appreciated and will be recognized in the Honor Roll of Donors.

Why does participation matter? Excellence is the hallmark of a Quest Academy education. In order for Quest to provide its exceptional education program designed specifically for gifted students and taught by specialized faculty, the School’s financial foundation must be strong. Tuition and fees cover 95% of the cost of a Quest education; the remaining 5% is comprised of gifts to the Quest Annual Fund and unrestricted support from the annual Night of All Knights Auction & Gala. Everyone’s participation truly does matter!

What kinds of gifts does the Quest Annual Fund accept? The Quest Annual Fund accepts checks and credit card payments sent through the mail or made online at the Quest website. Many companies will match philanthropic gifts made by their employees. In addition, the School welcomes gifts of stock, bonds, and/or other securities. For questions regarding any aspect of the Quest Annual Fund, contact Laurie DeSimone in the Development Office.
