A message from Head of School Ben Hebebrand and Take Root Campaign Chair William Markey Dear Quest Academy Friends and Supporters:
From our founding, to the “Building on Success” campaign in 1998 that created the school’s gymnasium, “Take Root” serves as resounding proof that our community of students, parents, teachers and friends can unite in the interest of improving and advancing the student experience at Quest Academy. The generosity of these individuals has enabled Quest Academy to advance in technology, the arts and its educational facilities. With its lush athletic field, trail, amphitheater and outdoor classrooms, our West Campus appears to be an effortless extension of our school. Yet its existence is the result of the tireless dedication of the entire Quest community: the Board of Trustees, Campaign Steering Committee, parents, students, teachers, volunteers and generous donors. Through the combined efforts of this committed group of people, we began the 2013-2014 year filled with the endless opportunities the West Campus will offer Quest students for years to come. As we look to new ways of enhancing the student experience at Quest Academy and plan for our next milestone, we are struck by another upshot of the “Take Root” campaign: the many wonderful testimonials from students, families and alumni about what Quest Academy means to them. The impact of each unique and common experience will help guide us as we continue to shape our vision for the future. As Quest Academy continues to grow, there will no doubt be other needs required to enhance the educational environment necessary to inspire and challenge generations of gifted children. Through your continued support, you meaningfully demonstrate your commitment to these students and the mission of Quest Academy. Growth has been integral to the life and history of Quest Academy since its founding 31 years ago. As you might expect of a school whose mission includes the promise to provide a challenging environment for our students, growth has been critical. “Take Root: The Campaign for the West Campus,” raised nearly $1.5 million to create much needed green space and provide everyone the opportunity to learn beyond the confines of a school building. It also marks another milestone in the evolution of Quest Academy.

Helene Bartz - Founder & Leader Quest Academy Class of 2012 was honored to have Mrs. Helene Bartz, the founder of Creative Children’s Academy, speak at their June 7 commencement.
Mrs. Bartz passed away on June 21, 2012, at the age of 87. Quest Academy mourns the loss of this innovative leader in gifted education.

DI Think Pink Team headed to Global Tournament for the second year in a row.

State Track Meet – one student qualified for hurdles and one for the long jump.

Math Competitions
a.
Latin School: 5th grade teams placed 2nd and 3rd, 7th grade team placed 3rd, 8th grade team placed 3rd.
b.
Mathcounts: Team placed 3rd at regionals. Individual students placed 5th and 8th.
Illinois Math League – 7th and 8th grade placed first in our region.

The Noetic Math Competition is for grades 2-6. We had 10 students in the fall and 11 students in the spring in the top 10% of participants.

State Cross Country Meet – one student qualified.

In art, the 7th grade film The Odyssey, won Best in Show at the Screen Test Students Fest in Schaumburg. At the Glenview Youth Art Fair – two students received 1st place ribbons.

History Fair – 12 students qualified for the state history fair.
8.
FIRST LEGO League – The Toyminators (middle school) team qualified for the state tournament and won the Strategy and Innovation Award. The Quest Engineers (4th grade) team won the Rookie Award and placed in the top three in two divisions (research and core value) at the regional tournament.
9.
17 students attended the SIT Conference (Students Involved in Technology). Three groups presented on Minecraft and photo editing.
10. There were nine new Knights this year, the most ever Knighted in one year.
