Amidst the announcement of the Department of Education (DepEd) that the end of school year will be adjusted to May 31 from the original June 14, the School Principal Dr. Menalyn A. Salvador said that there will be no adjustment in school activities.
“Na-lessen lang yung days pero we make sure naman na may remediation na magagawa,” Dr. Salvador said pertaining to the different remediations and enhancement that will be used.

LESSER TIME, LESSER KNOWLEDGE NO, THANKS! ...completing too many assigments at home might be overkill.
Dr. Salvador’s statement comes as a reassurance to parents and students who might be concerned about the impact of the shortened school year on the students’ learning. She emphasized that the school is prepared to implement various remediation and enhancement activities to ensure that the students’ learning is not compromised.
Meanwhile, teachers welcomed the change of the end of school year which is part of the DepEd’s gradual return to the traditional June start of the school

Princess Roan Y. Fernandez, a senior high school teacher exclaimed that classrooms are too hot even with electric fans starting in the month of March to May.
“Nakatutuwa na babalik na sa June yung start ng school year kasi hindi talaga kaya ng electric fans ang init ng classrooms simula March hanggang May,” she said.
When asked regarding the effect of the calendar shift, she said that it is undeniable that the number

As part of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) commitment to provide quality education, the school administration together with the TLE department started steps for the conversion of Quezon National High School to a technical vocational school.
Before 2023 ends, the steps for the conversion already started.
The head teacher for the TLE department, Norma D. Vicente said that they have already finished the assessment of tools and equipment available in the school.
Due to the initial assessment, Vicente said that “we are not yet ready.”
In response to the challenge of not enough equipment, the school admin already coordinated with the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) of Quezon to ask for support.
During the session of councilors last February 13, the council approved the request for fund for the additional tools and equipment needed.
The Chairman of Committee
on Education, Hon. Jobert Zyrus V. Cadiente, expressed that the MLGU will always support any school plan for the betterment of the learners.
“Always naman na susuporta ang MLGU sa anumang endeavour ng Quezon National High School basta nakikita namin na para ito sa ikabubuti ng mga bata,” he said.
The School Principal Dr. Menalyn A. Salvador also added that the process is ongoing.
“Actually, marami nang na-comply but there are still some requirements to accomplish,” she further said.
As part of the requirements, the school principal together with the TLE Head Teacher undergone and passed the assessment on Organic Agriculture National Certificate II last March.

of teaching hours will be lessened which might affect the mastery of competencies.
“Mababawasan ng time para mamaster ng mga students ang mga learning competencies,” she answered. Though that is the case, she mentioned that she believes that teachers will do their best to not compromised the teaching-learning process.
Due to the change in the end of school year, the start of classes for the next school year will be on July 29. By 2025, the start will be June.

In line with the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Digital Education 2028 (Digi-Ed 2028 aimed at digitalizing schools, Quezon National High School teachers maximize the use of laptops and phablets provided through the DepEd Computerization Program (DCP) as a way to improve learning.
According to the School’s ICT Coordinator Reyma Rose P. Lagunilla, the DepEd laptops are not solely for the ICT students but are also utilized in other subjects.
“Pinapayagan namin ang mga teachers na hiramin ang mga laptops during their subjects para mas ma-improve yung pagtuturo nila,” she said. She added that it is also one way to improve the learners knowledge on how to use computers
especially that most learners are still not familiar with it.
Meanwhile, in the senior high school campus, the ICT Co-coordinator and Computer Systems Servicing teacher, Irene D. Pariñas, also allow other teachers and even learners to use the phablets issued to the campus.
“Pinapahiram ko rin sa ibang teachers at students na nangagailangan,” she said in an interview.
She added that usually, learners borrow laptops
and phablets when they create activities that needs encoding for presentations or documents.
In the New Building campus, English teacher Krizel Lapada said that the phablets were also utilized by learners in doing their research.
Recently, the Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Z. Duterte announced that the launching of Digi-Ed 2028 is part of the department’s commitment to keep up with the trend of modern

Esquivel emphasized that it is because they are responsible for the child. “Kasi liability pa din nila yung mga anak nila,” he explained..
Penalties ranges from 500 pesos or two days

Those caught shall be put in a temporary protective custody under the Bantay Bayan on duty at the Barangay Hall for the remaining period of curfew hours and will only be released upon request of their parents, guardian, or immediate member of their family.
Aside from the curfew ordinance, Barangay Ordinance No. 01 Series of 2008 or Regulating Drinking and Selling of Liquor was also discussed. The ordinance restricts liquor sales and consumption from 8 PM to 5 PM and 9 PM to 4 AM even if it is purchased outside the barangay.

In a survey conducted by The Range, 91 percent of Quezon National High School (QNHS) parents agreed to the Department of Education’s (DepEd) revival of the subject Good Moral and Right Conduct (GMRC) as a regular subject for kindergarten, elementary, and junior high school students as part of the MATATAG curriculum
According to the survey, 177 parents agreed on the comeback of GMRC and only 16 disagreed.
The Guidance Counselor Designate Divina Gracia P. Arzadon said that the DepEd’s move is very timely. “It's timely because students’ attitude is getting worst especially the way they communicate to teachers,” she exclaimed.
In 2016, GMRC was removed during the Presidency of Rodrigo R. Duterte under the K-12 Curriculum due to students’ insufficient mastery of basic competencies such as reading, and writing.

The Philippine National Police (PNP), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), and Quezon Search and Rescue Unit (QSARU) urged Quezon National High School (QNHS) to improve search and rescue operations after a failed attempt to rescue a learner during the 4th quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) at the senior high school campus, November 9, 2023.
In the post evaluation, Ulysses Culambot, a member of QSARU, emphasized the need for a search and rescue team to ensure that all casualties will be saved.
“Nag-assume na agad at hindi nilibot ang ibang rooms,” he said as a comment to the unsaved casualty.
He also said that the buddy system where a learner must have a companion during disaster was not observed.
“Hindi na-observe ‘yung buddy buddy system, kaya may naiwan sa taas”, he
added.
Meanwhile, Jonel Bacsac, from the PDRRMO Emergency Response Unit (ERU) added that learners should not run. “Sa 2nd floor, walang takbuhan para maiwasan ang stampede,”. Furthermore, he advised that rescuers are required to wear a helmet for safety precautions.
In connection to running, Remalyn Bagayao, the focal person of PDRRMO team, noted that instead of running, learners must walk faster than normal. She also suggested that there must be a safety officer to assure the safety of learners. “Kailangan ng safety officer para may magsabi if safe na pasukin ang room,” she said.
The PNP also commented that students should take it seriously and to actively participate. During the earthquake drill, many learners are using phones, laughing, and are not taking the drill seriously.

uring the 2nd School Parents and Teachers Association General Meeting, as part of his reminder to parents and learners to follow driving laws, the Municipality of Quezon Philippine National Police Deputy Chief Anthony Pagapa bared that there are more driving law violators in Quezon National High School than other schools in the area.
“Maymayat nu sumurut tayu iti batas tayu tapnu maproteksyonan tayo,” he explained.
Among the common violations are not or improper wearing of helmet, existence of muffler, and driving without license.
Pagapa said that aside from many are not wearing helmet, the usual practice of learners is to put the helmet in their arm. “Usually na napapansin namin, inilalagay sa kamay ang helmet,”

Together with the school administration, the School Parents and Teachers Association (SPTA) announced during the 3rd quarterly meeting that the bathroom problems in all the three campuses were solved or on its way to being solved.
In an interview with The Range, the SPTA President Hon. Felix Agravante said that the projects focused on bathrooms because there were complaints about
bad smell. “Naging issue yan dahil sa mapanghing amoy kapag humangin at tag-ulan kaya apektado ang lahat,” he said.
In the Senior High School (SHS) campus, the bathroom problem was due to the lack of a continuous water supply.
‘’We decided to construct the water system’’, the SHS SPTA representative said after announcing in the meeting that the system is now usable.
In the Main Campus, the SPTA officers hired a utility worker to maintain the cleanliness of bathrooms.
The SDRRM plans to conduct surprise drills each month to continuously monitor the school’s performance. Page 1
Compared to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) penalties which can reached to 1,500 pesos, municipal ordinance only asks for 50 pesos from violators of wearing helmet. That is why, he adviced that parents should “sacrifice” to buy helmet.
In addition, he also remind parents to assist their sons or daughters to get a license from LTO when they reach 15 years old.
Learners caught driving without license will incur a 50 pesos fine.
To clarify his points, Pagapa mentioned different instances where drivers without license or no helmet are always on the difficult side.
“Uray basul diay nakabangga, basul diay ubing nga awan helmet na or unlicensed,” he said. He reasoned that “nu awan lisensya na, awan kuma isuna
dita dalan nga agda-drive."
In terms of muffler, since the municipality has no existing law against it, the LTO law will be implemented. When caught, violators will pay 1,000 pesos.
Pagapa also mentioned that many parents go to the police station asking for help with their child’s violation. “Awan sigurun iti agreklamo tattan ta naibaga metten kanya yun,” he added. The current number of passengers were also discussed. As of the latest municipal ordinance, only four passengers are allowed in a tricycle. Even though parents are complaining about it, Pagapa answered that it was the decision of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association presidents.
Pagapa ended with a reminder that police officers understands them but there is a law that must be followed to avoid penalties.

As of May 2024, the three (3) toilet bowls from the Rural Sanitation Unit of the Municipal Local Government Unit are being installed.
In the New Building Campus, due to the pandemic, the bathrooms were unused, resulting in clogged water pipes from rain residues. To provide students with a functioning comfort room, the SPTA officers are currently constructing new bathrooms for male and female students at the back of the building.
The school admin is hoping that by the next school year, all bathrooms in the three campuses are usable and always clean.
For students, Sabado highlighted the benefit of science and technology in their future. “A strong foundation in Science and Technology prepares students for a wide range of careers in STEM fields, which are projected to have high demand in the future,” she stated.
The audio visual room, science laboratories, and computer room were already fixed. The division evaluation team led by Dr. Ronie Bibas also visited the school for evaluation.

Starting from its launch last January 12, various twists were added to the conduct of Catch-Up Friday’s (CUF) with the newest addition of giving stories related to the different topics in different learning areas.
For the month of March 2024, teachers were assigned to prepare reading materials related to their lesson.
During Wednesday's, all subject teachers meet to prepare for the activity which will be given on Friday. The possibility of relating the story that the learners will read to more than one subject is also discussed.
In the 8th week of CUF implementation, an article about Nueva Vizcaya was given by the Araling Panlipunan teachers. Different photos of Nueva Vizcaya tourist spots were also shown to engage the learners interest.
According to the Araling Panlipunan teachers, the activity’s
objective is to instill in the learner’s mind the history of the province.
Lyrabelle B. Lugapo, a Grade 7 Araling Panlipunan teacher also added that they want to introduce the tourist spots to the learners.
Mathematics teachers, during the March 8 conduct of CUF prepared different stories which contains puzzles related to the topic translating word problems.
In the Senior High School (SHS) Campus, the same scheme is used. The only difference is that the lessons are more specific to the SHS subjects.
In the last few sessions, stories or articles relating to General Mathematics, Practical Research, and Earth and Life Science were given to the learners for them to read.
Before reading the given materials, learners were also given questions for them to answer.
It is also a practice that the answers of the learners to the questions are read infront of the class to elicit different opinions and discussion.
The CUF ran until the end of school year to further literacy.

In a vast field of sunflowers, where the tall yellow flowers reached for the sky, small mythical creatures known as fairies danced among the swaying plants. Their thin, transparent wings sparkled in the sunlight as they moved gracefully from one flower to another, gathering the flower's sweet liquid, nectar. Each fairy carried a tiny basket made from thin, flexible grass strands, carefully collecting the essence of the summer trapped within the petals. As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with shades of orange and pink, the fairies returned to their hidden forest clearing, carrying the bounty of their harvest. As darkness enveloped the land, the air was filled with the pleasant fragrance of sunflowers, mingled with the soft laughter of the fairies, joyously celebrating the abundance of nature.

Out of 1,199 enrollees for the school year 2023-2024, 1,130 or 95.04 percent was promoted to the next grade level, the school records office report show.
Among the factors which affects the promotion rate are students who are retained, and those who dropped out of school while 10 learners transferred to other school.
As per records, there are 15 learners or 1.26 percent who dropped out of school. The highest number is from Grade 10 with eight drop-outs while there are six from Grade 7 and one from Grade 8.
The designated guidance counselor, Divina Gracia P. Arzadon, said that the reasons
on why learners dropped out of school are still the same which includes teenage pregnancy, child labor, lack of interest, peer influence, and family problems among others.
“Hindi pa din nagbabago yung mga dahilan kung bakit nagdadrop ang mga students,” she said in an interview. She further said that learners who dopped are influenced by peers to skipped class often and go anywhere but school.

On February 10, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced that the start of the school year will return to June. With this decision of DepEd to revert to the old academic calendar, adjustments were made to give way for the transition. This move from DepEd just left students and teachers with major adjustments to face and the quality of education being affected.
As we may all know, after the announcement was made, many were delighted. Mainly because we thought of the idea that the vacation will be earlier. But, due to adjustment of the end of school year from June 14 to May 31, many changes were made by teachers and learners, especially in the classroom lessons.
The seemingly well plotted lessons of teachers are now being
Last October 30, 2023, more than 1 million Filipinos voted in the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections. These voters, if they really voted for the benefit of all youths, are hoping for more than just sports league or pageant as projects.
The SK election was created through the Section 7 of Republic Act No. 107421 which requires an officer to be a citizen of the Philippines, a qualified voter of the Katipunan ng Kabataan, a resident of the barangay for at least one year immediately before the election, must be at least 15 but not over 21 years old on election day, be able to read and write in Filipino, English, or the local dialect, and must not have been convicted of any crime involving moral turpitude.
With these many requirements, nowhere can we see that the SK caters to all the youth in their barangay.
Seldom do we see sustainable projects or projects addressing the different challenges in youth education or health. Instead, projects are usually
discussed in a shorter time. This will affect the quality of education because if teachers will have lesser time discussing new lessons then students will have lesser time to master it too.
While this may affect the quality of education, this is also good for both students and teachers. Many complaints about how hot inside the classroom during summer in the Philippines ever since the start of school year was moved to later months
While others may say that the calendar shift is justifiable, it goes beyond what we have seen and experienced.
because of the pandemic.
Many identified the hot weather as the reason for the change. Buildings were not designed to the heat of the summer season. Even with electric fans, the temperature inside the classroom is not bearable.
While others may say that the calendar shift is justifiable, it goes beyond what we have seen and experienced. We all know that it is hard to do activities especially when they are all being rushed and is given almost one after another.
With this return to the old academic calendar, students will have to adjust again while dealing with finishing lessons in a shorter time. Though the DepEd is trying their best not to interfere with students’ activities, we can all agree that lesser time means lesser knowledge.
for those who plays basketball, volleyball, and the like. Another mainstream project is the conduct of beauty pageants. With these activities, only those physically active or those who have the characteristics of a beauty queen who are benefited. These projects are short-sighted and fail to address the underlying issues faced by the youth.
How about us? How about those who are not physically active?
While there is nothing wrong in holding “liga” in the community because it will develop the skills and talents of the youth, SK officials must also develop the youth not only physically but mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Well yes, the two projects mentioned above are helpful and interesting but we still have a lot of options that we can consider which will develop the youth.
For instance, the establishment of a library hub can promote literacy and educational excellence among students who may not excel in sports or beauty contests but are eager to
learn. Similarly, free printing for all can minimize the effect of financial problems. Community-wide recycling programs will also contribute in our environment. Furthermore, organizing employment readiness seminars will help them be ready in the future. Lastly, with the increase of mental health problems among youth, they must be given enough knowledge about it.
Addressing challenges in the youth sector will require not just playing in the court or getting the crown. SK projects should provide long term effect. Let us remember that the impact of SK projects extends beyond immediate results.
The potential of SK projects depends in how it will transfrom lives. Addressing the specific needs of the youth can bring meaningful and lasting change.
While sports and pageants have their merits, they only provide benefits to a fraction of the SK community. It’s time to shift the focus from shortsighted projects to initiatives that cater to all facets of youth growth.

Normally, assignments are given to students in order to teach them how to take responsibilities outside the school. However, giving too many assignments is unfair to students.
It is understandable for teachers to give assignments to students as it is known for its top tier benefits; to support them in independent learning, develop problemsolving skills, create interaction to parent and student and many more. While the intention behind giving a lot of assignments may be to assess if the learners understand the
lesson, excessive assignments will affect the learner's overall academic performance.
But, there are always a bad side in a good side. Aside from its benefits it can cause much more from behind.
Learners spent eight hours a day, five times a week in school. Additional time completing too many assigments at home might be overkill. For example, if a learner needs to complete an assignment in each of the eight learning areas, it will be a timeconsuming activity which will result to lesser time to sleep. The next day, that learner might still continue his or her assignment in school. These risks can probably result to sickness and no focus at all.
The quality of learning might also
be compromised. A lot of assignment will not be dealt in depth by the learners but will just finish it in the least possible time to have time for other assignments.
In 2023, the Senate Bill No. 1792 or the “No Homework Act of 2023, was filed by Sen. Ramon "Bong” Revilla. The measure seeks for a no-homework policy in both elementary and junior high school on weekends. Also, the homework must only be minimal and should not require more than two hours to be completed, and on a voluntary basis.
According to Revilla, less assignments gives parents more time with their children, allowing the student to engage in more cocurricular activities.

s I was walking to Mapalyao falls, a tourist spot near our home, I passed by a group of picnic goers. As I walked past by them, someone called me and said “Mangan ading!” I smiled at them before saying "Sige lang, manong!"
Filipinos are known for being hospitable. For many years, we Filipinos have been greeting people in different ways.
Greeting people to make them feel at home or even when eating we invite them. Even if we don’t know someone personally, we still invite them to eat with us. It is custom for Filipinos to invite others to eat even if the person is not actually invited to eat.
Filipinos, mainly Ilocanos, have their own pleasantry that is ingrained in their
culture.
“Mangan tayo”, an Ilocano term that signifies invitation to share a meal, fostering a sense of camaraderie.
However, the mentioned incident underscores a deeper issue: the rampant abuse and misuse of this tradition.
A quick scroll through social media threads reveal a sentiment that challenges the conventional perception of Filipino warmth, asserting that our hospitality is nothing more than facade.
Though many may say that “Mangan tayo!” is just a form of greeting, all of us Filipinos know that this is already a long-standing tradition.
Some Filipinos are also still practicing genuine hospitality. Many of our elders still continue to invite people to share a meal genuinely.
Some foreigners also say that the reason they
always come back to the Philippines is that we Filipinos are very welcoming, even if we don’t know them, they feel welcome in our country.
Being hospitable extends more than just inviting someone to eat. At times, plates reserved for special occasion will be put in the table if we have visitors. When others come at our house, we prepare not just a meal, but a feast. This custom often leads to having debt. Many may say that this is still a tradition. As the world evolve, many sees it is as only a pleasantry. It is undeniable that what we have was already lost a few generations ago. It’s no longer a custom. We are only accustomed to doing it.
In a 2009 study conducted by The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s Program for International Student Assessment (OECD PISA), it was found that the additional time invested in assignments has a negligible impact on a student’s performance.
The report also said that countries that have significantly reduced homework load on students and that assignment increased the level of anxiety that leads to low motivation in school work.
Let us prioritize quality versus quantity. Let us be honest. Facing too much assignment after a day or a week of studying is tiring. It is now time to rethink more ways to regulate assignments.
he EDSA People Power Revolution reminds us how Filipino united to reclaim their rights and overthrow the dictatorship of the Former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. Recently, Malacañang announced the 2024 holidays and February 25 EDSA Power Revolution commemoration is missing.
Thirty eight (38) years ago, millions of Filipinos walked under the heat of the sun for four long days in 1986. Many feet were wounded, and Filipino citizens sacrificed their blood, sweat, and tears just to end the dictatorship.
EDSA Revolution Day is the beginning of the new era of true freedom and democracy.
Many were disappointed but certainly they were not surprised by the sudden removal of EDSA Revolution Day. One of the reasons they said is because EDSA is on a weekend. The Office of the President (OP) explained that being a Sunday, Feb. 25 next year would have little significance to the public.
In 2018, Former President Rodrigo Duterte declared Feb. 25 a holiday even though it falls on a Sunday.
If we will look at the basis of the OP, why Chinese New
The Range asked 425 learners if they are aware of national issues.
Year still remains even though it also falls on a weekend? The worst thing is they even added an additional one day just to celebrate Chinese New Year, ironic right?
From the word “Chinese New Year” itself, it doesn't really have any significant to us Filipino. It doesn't make any sense that EDSA revolution was removed yet keeping Chinese New Year as a holiday.
Is it their way of slowly removing the EDSA memory to our history? They can do anything they want to make us forget and move on from the past, but we, Filipinos, will always make them remember.
Many will say that you are a “Kalaban ng Bayan” if you question and contradict the plans of the government. But being a kalaban ng bayan in time like this makes a point, because we speak for truth, freedom, and justice. We rather lose our voices speaking the truth, than keeping a grudge of silence for peace.
Innate for Filipinos is being patriotic, but on the other hand, is our government even patriotic by removing one of the significant days that signifies our country by being free?
With this rampant abuse to our history, the only thing we can do is to speak up the truth until our vocal cords give up, and we must never forget.
Creating a third bathroom for LGBTQIA+ was proposed and supported by Former President Rodrigo R. Duterte to address the problems of the issue about gender inequality. Though the idea of an additional bathroom for the LGBTQIA+ might be beneficial, aren’t we discriminating them by making one?
A 2019 survey shows that 47 percent of Filipinos are against transwomen using female toilets, but 55 percent of Filipinos favor to protect LGBTQIA+. In 2023,

Duterte said that the addition of a third bathroom will lessen discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ community.
Gretchen Diez, the transwoman who was prevented from using a woman’s restroom in a mall rejected the idea of a third bathroom. She said that the establishment of third bathrooms could even boost discrimination against LGBTQ+ persons. I couldn’t agree more. Instead of a third bathroom, why don't we build gender neutral bathrooms? Gender neutral bathrooms are bathrooms for all.
As for the others to know, these kinds of bathrooms are open to be used by female, male, and the LGBTQIA+. These contain a urinal and a toilet bowl. With this, anyone whoever enters the
bathroom can have the freedom to use whatever they are comfortable with and whatever their gender is. This promotes inclusivity by providing a space that is accessible to everyone regardless of their gender identity which fosters a sense of equality and respect for diversity within the community.
Supporters of the third bathroom said that it will provide a safe and comfortable place for them. Former President Duterte's argument says that the idea of a third bathroom was to lessen discrimination. This is because third bathrooms are for LGBTQIA+ only, and only for them. With the idea of building a bathroom for them, females and males are not allowed to use or even enter.

s the school year 2023-2024 starts, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced that wearing school uniform is not mandatory. This decision have gathered various opinions.
Nowadays, students prefer to wear civilian clothes because it is much comfortable than school uniform. But how can we determine the school of a student if they are in ordinary attire?
One of the daily problems

The Vice President and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Z. Duterte announced the launch of DepEd Digital Education or "DepEd DigiEd 2028" last January 25, 2024 as part of her Basic Education Report 2024. The vice-president said that DepEd is working hard to keep up with the trend of modern technology in the learning of the youth. With all the problems in the department, why put up a new project which will incur more funds?
She further said that they are now in contact with various telecommunication companies to fully implement it. With its implementation, learners will use digital books or e-books that is available and only accessible in gadgets.
With this project, a reliable internet is needed. The secretary admitted that currently, there only 69 percent of schools nationwide have access to internet connectivity and is mostly limited to the faculty room.
If DigiEd 2028 will focus on e-books, will there be enough tablets for the learners to use? DepEd also
of a student is what to wear for a day but if we'll wear a uniform, it is less hassle. Just a pair of blouse, skirt/slacks, and black shoes, students are ready to go.
Further, a uniform plays a vital role in shaping a school's culture. It can also represent equality because it ensures that all students are all dress similarly regardless of their social status.
By wearing uniform, we can also identify intruders and identify if a person is a student or not. This can serve as a security measure.
push for letting learners study at home. Will they be given devices to use?
Because if not, many learners will be left behind.
Some students have a hard time studying at their home. Modules/emodules are very hard to learn alone, and many learners doesn’t have gadgets nor have any access to the internet.
DepEd should consider those families who are living in a daily wage basis.
Engaging in e-books is not bad but DepEd prioritizing this is also not a good idea. There are many things that needs to be noticed such as the lack of teachers and classrooms which leads to overloaded classrooms, and buildings which structures are not that safe anymore. There are much more things that the DepEd should prioritize rather than digitizing schools.
Speaking live for the Filipinos, the vice-president and DepEd secretary admits that the most pressing problem is the lack of school infrastructure and resources to support the ideal teaching process. Further, she added that only

While others may say that this will lessen discrimination, we can still say that by building a third bathroom we are just increasing discrimination against the LGBTQIA+. This is because when the third bathrooms are going to be built for only the LGBTQ+, it's like we are still discriminating them by separating them.
So, we can say that the idea of a third bathroom still is a way of discriminating them. It is much better if we just build gender neutral bathrooms, so that we can lessen discrimination and not just boost it by separating the LGBTQIA+ from other genders. When gender neutral bathrooms are going to be built there will be equality in the different genders.
However, it is important to note that there are bad aspects of wearing uniforms. Poverty is one of the reasons why students can't afford to buy school uniforms. Instead of buying those, they'll choose to buy more important things like school supplies and other school needs especially if a family is financially unstable. Some students also said that it is uncomfortable since the weather is hot. The air doesn't flow because of the fabric.

Aside from these problems, the recent result of the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) placed Filipino 15 years old third from the bottom in science, and six from the bottom in mathematics and reading.
Though the intention of digitizing schools is a great step to improve the peformance of the students, it is not a secret that there are other problems which must be first given attention.
The vice-president also agree "to solve a problem that has permeated within the system."
As DepEd initiates moving to digital, it is still a must to consider the needs of every students such as building structures, chairs, and other equipment needed.
I stand with DepEd in their pursuit of attaining the best quality of education. But as much as a digitize classroom is enticing, we should address the most pressing issues first before moving forward.
advantage and disadvantage it is clear that comfort is a crucial factor in choosing what to wear.
Perhaps, an agreement can be established where there will be flexible guidelines that allows personalization while still maintaining a presentable appearance. This will address the issue of discomfort and will promote discipline.
The ultimate goal is to foster equality, with or without uniforms.

learners choose sopas as their comfort food during recess
The morning sun shines in my room as I welcome a new day filled with challenges and possibilities. With renewed energy, I embarked on my daily routine, beginning with fixing my bed and freshening up in the bathroom. Each step felt like years even if I do it every day. The thought of going to school seems like a household chore now.
As I readied myself for the day ahead, the smell of of longganisa as well as fried rice from the kitchen gave me additional strength. This is why I love ea . T The comfort that food brings is incomparable. I brushed my teeth and took a quick bath. I hurriedly dressed up and joined my family in eating breakfast.
As I step outside our house, I can hear the sound of the busy neighborhood. I patiently waited for a tricycle, which will take me to school.
As I was traveling to school, I couldn't help but think of what will be my recess. I know, it might be too early but thinking of the long queue at the canteen, I felt like I am hungry again.
The anticipation grew as I think more of what will be sold at the school canteen during recess?

Gone were the days when sharing someone's feeling will include a lengthy letter. The era of expressing oneself through a very elaborate description of what you feel is already a thing of the past.
Nowadays, Generation Z or simply Gen Z, anyone born from 1997 onwards, have shortened words confusing elder generations.
From delulu to slay to the latest addition of nonchalant - Gen Z language have continuously evolved.
If you feel like it’s hard to keep up with the Gen Z slangs, that’s because it is. Thanks to social media, the content cycle is already very fast, so you’ve probably heard about the slang trends that sound like gibberish.
Here are some Gen Z words you might need to know:
Delulu is short for "Delusional". If you want to tell someone that his or her ideals is very unrealistic or he or she might only be dreaming, this is the perfect word to be used.
This word perfectly defines a high-class/ materialistic person. It comes from the French word for burgher, bourgeoisie, which dates back to 16th century. It was shortened to bougie in the 1970s. Basically, you can say that a person spends to much on boujie stuff.
This is a word use to show off one's accomplishment, belongings, or skills to express confidence or superiority. The next time you post something on social media, flex it.
The journey to school was longer than I expected. I couldn't help but wonder about the choices available for recess, particularly the comforting options of lugaw, sopas, and lomi. Each dish held a special place in my heart, stimulating memories of warmth, homecooked meals,
Short for "charisma". It is defined as style, charm, or attractiveness.
If you are quite a manipulator, you might have done this to others. This is when you manipulate someone into questioning their own perception of reality. This means "to do something well". The term is used to described someone with flawless appearance or someone who have done something excpetionally well.
Fond of just getting out of constant communication, like 'poof' and you're out of thin air, this might be you! Think of what you've done. You might have ghosted someone.
Short for "If you know, you know". This word works like a charm when you are part of the group and you know what inside joke they are talking about. You may also use this especially if you don't want others to know who or what you are referring to.
"Spill the tea" means "spill the gossip". Tea is a term used to refer to gossip or inside information, something only a few knows, that you might want to share.
This are the ones who are willing to settle for less. They have a backup plan. To put it simple, second choice!
A short term for “over reacting.” In todays generation, they use this term to address someone who reacts in an extreme or too strong way or maybe those using are the one's being OA.
A person who appears silent, calm, and indifferent towards anything that may not matter to them.
The next time you wear something you think is nice, slay it! Flex it in social media! Do not mind those who will tell you that you're OA. Show them your rizz even if you'll reach delulu levels.
Just enjoy things your own way even the next time they'll spill the tea, it is about you.
and shared moments with loved ones. Arriving at the new building, I felt a surge of energy as I greeted familiar faces and settled into the classroom routine. The lessons flowed seamlessly, punctuated by moments of curiosity and learning. However, my mind often drifted to the upcoming recess. Which will be sold?
The first food that popped to mind was lugaw, with its simplicity and nutritional properties. I felt content and at ease thinking about the idea of soft rice grains that had been cooked to perfection, along with the richness of a boiled egg and the crunch of fried garlic. It was a tempting option for recess because of how comforting the flavors are. Another kind of comfort can be provided by sopas, with its creamy broth and mix of meats, vegetables, and macaroni. The addition of evaporated milk enhanced the creamy texture, promising a bowl full of comfort and familiarity. Sopas got my attention as a potential recess treat when I thought about the generous spoonfuls and the delicious combination of tastes.
And then there came lomi, a meal that represents sharing and heartiness. My taste buds were aroused by the thick egg noodles that were swimming in a flavorful soup that contained a variety of meats and veggies. Topped with crispy onions, garlic, and a splash of calamansi, lomi promised a taste experience that went beyond simple nourishment.
As the clock ticked closer to recess, I found myself torn between these three canteen delights. Each dish represented not just a meal but a connection to family, especially during gatherings, and moments of shared joy. The decision seemed impossible, yet it was a testament to the richness of Filipino cuisine and the comfort it brings.
In the end, whatever will be available in the canteen among the three will surely be bought by me. Sitting with friends in the school canteen, we will share laughter, stories, and the simple pleasure of good food.
Lugaw, sopas, and lomi became more than just dishes; they were a celebration of culture, tradition, and the shared experiences that bring us together.

The sun shines brightly as I welcome another day. I excitedly jumped out of bed to take a shower. It was cold, making me shiver down my spine. Just as how I feel because today is the first day of me being a high school student.
As I trace my steps to school, my attention wanders upward at the tall buildings. Feelings started to burst, leading to the advent of nervousness in my system. In the hopes of easing my tantrums, I began to roam around to search for familiar faces. There, I saw my best friend, Rhemelyne. And guess what? We’re in the same class, just great.
Upon entering the class, different students met my eyes. They’re the unknowns I’m eager to uncover, or maybe not. Things could’ve been a lot happier if my old friends were here. Those unending warm laughs, genuine smiles, and unbreakable bonds I yearn for. Maybe a hug from them came out of nowhere instead of gut-wrenching stares. I wonder if we think of each other at the same time. Will I ever see them again?
In a world full of comfort vs. convenience, in terms of fashion trends, aesthetic comes first. Observing the corridors and classrooms of our school, it appears that a fashion trend has surfaced that is definitely difficult to ignore: THE WHITE SHOES SUPREMACY. Students are embracing this sleek and clean aesthetic, stepping out in style. There really must be an indisputable refreshing quality to putting on a pair
This adjustment from elementary to high school simply means taking away my comfort.
Out of the blue, a small human being wearing eyeglasses in her orange uniform intimidates the four corners of the room. Being in that attire screams authority, breaking off the noise. Co-students moved quickly to sit. Her knotted eyebrows and heartless face triggered my anxiousness. My not-so-gifted brain thought, what’s the worst thing to happen today? A quiz, perhaps? And as always, I’m right. What might occur for the rest of the day? I can’t wait to go home.
At dismissal, I felt vulnerable. I survived the beginning of the battle of the fittest. I ranted to my mother about how I disliked some of my classmates, the pressure of taking life seriously, and how a quiz stressed me out. But never did I mention how it altered my perspective of the outside world.

of white shoes. White shoes appear to encourage learners to put their best foot forward in the hectic world of school, literally and figuratively. Though it may appear extreme, its sleek appearance seems to be able to represent new beginnings and a fresh start with every step taken.
Aside from this, the adaptability of white sneakers is a major factor in their rise to popularity and popularity among students. Given that public schools do not mandate uniforms, it can easily be worn with any attire, whether it is for a presentation or a casual get-up for students. There are countless ways to wear it: with jeans and a shirt, square

It goes beyond merely being a trend. White shoes may be an expression of our shared need for selfexpression. White shoes are now more than just a fashion statement because to their classic appeal and indisputable adaptability; they also represent hope and fresh opportunities. With white shoes, the possibilities are endless.

This is the day—it’s my first school pageant as a high school student. While the crowd was booming, focusing on the talent of other candidates, my mind was occupied while gripping the yoyo in my bare hands. I hear the loud beats of my heart while a minuscule amount of sweat starts to form on my hands. An idea popped into my mind; I just thought of performing on the stage full of lights and speakers— while everyone's eyes are focused and observing my moves.
When I was a kid, I thought that a yoyo was just for kids who wanted to entertain themselves.
A family member bought one for me, and I was amazed that when I threw it, it came back into my hands. Many toddlers like me have this kind of toy, and I was so
bored to the point that I started learning tricks about this toy. I am really impressed with myself; I never thought that I would have the ability to do these kinds of tricks. When the yoyo was thrown, I quickly responded and caught it using the string. I enhanced my talent and tried to perform while taking a video and posting it on social media.
Now that I am a high school student, I want to showcase my talent, and here I am waiting for myself to be called on the stage. "Let's give a round of applause for Thyrel Jin Olan from Grade 7 Masigasig," the master of the ceremony said. I quickly trudged and went to the center of the stage. The Youth for Environment in School Organization (YES-O) of Quezon National High School conducted the Science Fair in all campuses with a focus on unleashing learners' inner Einsteins as they try to solve various science experiments last October 13, 2023. With the help of the teachers, YES-O officers set-up different stations that learners will pass to solve next puzzles.
The YES-O officers were disseminated in the 6 stations, namely; "Blow me hard", "Let

Fill the plate with water about 1 inch deep and then place the candle in the middle of the plate. Light up the candle and invert the glass. Lastly, slowly and vertically, lower the glass to completely cover the candle. Watch as the candle was extinguished and water level rise. You could see that the water level is rising while the candle is burning. That is because the candle heats the air and expands it so that the
“Don't let me burn." This experiment is quite challenging because you need to put the paper close to the lighted candle and the paper shouldn't burn. In this experiment, you can use candle wax and glass. Wrap the paper on the glass, and put it close to the candle. And there you have it! Your paper will not burn.
How is that possible? The glass was blocking the oxygen which was preventing the paper from getting burned because paper only burns with oxygen from the air containing carbon and hydrogen. Indeed, science is amazing. As we venture more on different experiments, let us learn and be
Germany removed protesters on climate action. Their supposed crime was only blocking streets and disrupting events to call for an urgent move on climate change.
A world wide protest was also conducted in the same month where tens of thousands of climate activists launched protests to call for an end to the burning of fossil fuels as the globe suffers extreme weathers and record-
breaking heat.
In the Philippines, Greenpeace activists blocked the Shell import facility in Batangas in December 2023.
I know! There are lot of campaigns to save the earth. But then, many people treat them like they are committing crimes.
The protesters are calling the governments which seems like too deaf of their call. It seems that government are delaying actions until it's too
late.
"The government is clearly not listening," Greenpeace Philippines Jefferson Chua said in dismay along with the challenge to the president: "Step up, take leadership and make polluters pay!"
The chance of the earth being destroyed grows day by day. The destruction becomes quicker as times pass by due to the several activities of humans, such as the usage of plastics, oil, and other fossil fuels.
As earth citizens, we should not allow only a few to campaign for the safety of our planet. By making noise in social media, we can help too.
Let us reflect. Let us not just rely on different campaigns but let us take action too.
We must also give value and preserve the planet so that future generations will still experience breathing air in an environment that is clean and green.
Imagine one day when you excitedly wake up to check your phone for some updates but instead of morning greetings like you are used to, you are greeted by inconvenience. No one could tell what is happening, and one could only wonder what happens next.
Few months ago, different social media platforms blasted fear and worry among people as news on the possible solar superstorm rises.
Solar Superstorm happens when the sun produces a lot of solar flares. It is the blobs of plasma or a super-
heated matter from the sun. A superheated matter is measuring up to 6000 degrees Celsius, the same temperature as a boiling water 60 times. When this hits the Earth, it distorts the planet’s magnetic field or it can lead to radio blackout storm.
A radio blackout storm is the increase on level of X-ray and ultra violet rays. This decreases the frequency of radio wave that interrupts the communication process, just like you are talking to someone that is inside of a giant glass cube, you cannot hear them. There is no communication
at all just like signals in television, FM radio, mobile phones, and especially internet that is affected by the storm.
George Peter Becker of George Mason University stated that, “The Internet has become of age during a time when the sun has been relatively quiet, and now it’s entering a more active time.”
Despite the possible blackout, NASA assured that the DAGGER Computer system, an early warning system they developed, ensures that if the storm comes, it may trigger the
time preparing for the storm, reducing the effects it may bring.
Some may still think that this is a false event, but it turns out to be a true. However, no one knows when will this come, with only NASA’s intelligence as an up-to-date information.
The storm may not harm the people or any species, but it does make a huge effect on the satellites, signals, and frequency. The only thing we need to do is to find a way to entertain ourselves outside the screens of our phones, allowing to enjoy what the real world
The rooster once again awakens my unconscious sleeping mind. This only means one thing; the sun is ready to beam its sunlight upon us.
It has been a routine for me to look for my phone as I open my eyes. As usual, the first application to open will be Facebook and messenger. As I clicked the messenger icon, the app ask me to enter my password. Huh!?! That's weird! I tried opening Facebook and the prompt is still the same.
I started to panic. I could feel my sweat starting to build up even though it is a cold morning.
I urged myself to calm down and started to enter the passwords that I can remember. On my third try, the panic started to comeback as I cannot access my account. Is my Facebook account hacked? What am I supposed to do now?
My mind is troubled, my thoughts are racing back and forth. This heart of mine couldn't contain the nervousness and panic in my system. I should’ve been more careful with my password.
Desperately trying to access my account back,
I did everything to retrieve my account. Luckily, I know the password for my email where a password reset link was sent. I’m beyond glad I did. I finally opened it again. Now, it’s time to make my account safe with the help of the different tips and tricks on how to make my account more secured.
First thing first, the most rational thing to do is to make my password stronger. It is basically to keep those insensitive hackers away. Creating a password that is long and difficult is a must. Something that is far away from my personal information like my name, birthday, and more like my crush’s name.
Instead of that, I could use a variety of special words that only I would know. With a mix of jumbled numbers to make it even more unique, even an AI wouldn’t know.
I wouldn’t use the same passwords in my other accounts like I always do. With this, if one account was hacked, the others are secure. Furthermore, I would not use words that are already on dictionaries or even the internet. I prefer making up my own words to use as my
passwords in order for it to be unpredictable. To end with it, I am going to make my account protected by using password managers or a written copy hidden in our home.
So that, whenever I have too much passwords, I will be always reminded of which account holds which password. Now that I am aware of
situations like this, surely, I will be more mindful. I won’t be worrying of all the gossips me and my friends talked about. Talk about playing safe, we should learn the importance of having protected cyber accounts.
With all the news on hacking and scams, we must make sure that our accounts are secure. Don’t be played or hacked.

t's 4am in the morning. We prepared our swimming gears, ate our breakfast, then went to our tansport service. It's the first day of our training. We buckled up and traveled 5 minutes on our way to the river. Yes, we train at the river but only for the meantime.
As the cold breeze of wind touches my skin, I feel relaxed yet anxious about what will happen for the rest of the day. We confidently wear our swimming gears and jump into the water. As we stroke few meters away, we felt a sudden pain coming from beneath us. It feels like someone from under the water is stabbing our foot mercilessly. Yet, we let it slipped and didn’t ever bother to find out the reason.
Few days have passed, we now feel a bit of soreness and pain in our skin as it started to develop sunburn. We dive, swim, and spend almost everyday in the river.
It’s now the third day of our training, we prepared ourselves for a one tough swim. As the sound of the whistle signals us to start, all of a sudden one of our friend shouted loudly. A head-turner scene happened during that time, as she was able to identify the reasons why our foot were getting hurt everytime we swim. There was scattered steel below the water. This steel is the reaosn why we feel like our foot was getting stabbed. Furiously, our coached ask us to go home immediately.

river, we decided to continue our training in a swimming facility so that atleast we know that we are safe. Despite all the things that we've been through, no matter how harsh the water is during our training, we chose to do only one thing, that is to keep swimming.
The sound of the engine turning off awakened us from our deep sleep. As if it was just yesterday, our training comes to an end. We've arrived at the contest venue.
We will now dive into the water in the 2024 Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Athletic Association Meet swimming competition. Our goal is to dive and collect golds not steel anymore. May all the wounds brought by the steel yield golds as we swim to our dreams.
One learner, more than one event
Prior to the 2023 Sports and Recreational Activities, the sports committee announced that each learner could only join one event.
The rationale behind the policy was to prevent learners from joining more than one event thereby distributing participation across more learners and ensuring maximum participation. But, did it really achieve this goal?
The committee believed that limiting each learner will be beneficial as it will allow teachers to look for more learners. The policy is one way for the school to scout for new and potential athletes.
Despite this policy, it remains true that some learners did not join any events, and certain events had few participants.
Due to the policy, some learners were forced to join because there were no learners who volunteered. Even if a learner was actually picked to compete, some still chose not to participate because either they aren't ready or they aren't willing to join in the first place.
Promoting inclusiveness has been the focus of the Quezon National High School (QNHS) Sports and Recreational Activities last year in support of DepEd's continuous advocacy of ensuring learners’ holistic development where school sports are deemed effective but chess was no where to be seen.
The 2023 QNHS Sports and Recreational Activities didn't only feature physical sports but mental games were also included. Board games such as Damath, Sci-Damath, Scrabble was played by each grade level. Yet much controversies still arises since chess wasn't included in the board games featured.
Through this, it causes backlash and disappointments specially to the learners whoare chess lovers.
A year passed by, QNHS used the criticisms they received before. During this year's activities, the king of all board games returns.

Opinion E-games just like other sports require intelligence, skills, strategy, and teamwork. It does not only talk about who can click the fastest but about who can execute the plan easily. The mental agility required in playing E-games is similar to physical agility required in playing traditional sports. Statistics showed that most learners are playing online games with the result of 92 percent playing regularly, in
All hail to the king of board games, chess.
Bringing back chess as part of the mental games for learners enhance the cognitive function, improve their mental health, and it also provides entertainment for learners.
A wide long smile was seen from the learners who really love playing chess. Board games such as chess provides each and every learner a chance to be included in the activities. Even though a learner is not physically fit to attend and join physical games, well at least they are mentally capable enough to just sit, think, and use their cognitive skills by playing board games.
The move to return chess in the sports fest is well acknowledge by the woodpushers community.
At last, they can be part of the participants and not just watchers of other events.

which 35 percent are playing most days. So, it’s now the right time that we consider the inclusion of E-games in our school intramurals. Including the E-games in our school intramurals has usefulness not only in our school, but also on the learners and teachers. As I observed last intramurals, there are still lots of learners who don’t participate since they don’t play physical

sports, or they’re physically weak. Due to this, I agree to the inclusion of E-games with the school intramurals so that those learners who are weak physically can join too. Additionally, if we consider the inclusion of E-games, it can enhance the school’s reputation asmodern and progressive. However, playing too many computer games causes physical damage, increases
We all know that some learners nowadays are reluctant to join events and that they prefer to just watch. Thus, it is common for different teams to have no participants in various events. If there aren't enough learners for an event, those already participating in other events should be allowed to join in additional activities if they choose as long as it does not happen at the same time.
Maximum participation is always appreciated in any activity. The policy's objective is indeed fruitful. Though there are positive effects from the policy, there is a looming shadow of negative behind it.
The policy must remain but with a few adjustments. If there will be few participants in a certain event, learners who would like to join must be allowed even if they already joined in other events.

anxiety and depression in players. It can also affect the learner’s academic performances because of online games addiction. But again, including the E-games in our school intramurals gives opportunities to other learners to showcase their talent not by physical sports but with mental sports. There are numerous lesson to be learned from E-games. It teaches us cooperation, strategy, and also communication. It gives use opportunities to develop our approach to sports and make a more comprehensive diverse sporting environment.
