DepEd scraps mask mandate; QNHS still pushes learners to wear mask

Quezon National High school (QNHS) still pushes students to wear facemask even after the Department of Education (DepEd) announced that wearing of facemask in indoor and outdoor setting is optional in line with President Ferdinand "Bong bong" Marcos Jr.’s Excecutive Order No. 7 scrapping the mask mandate.

Before face-to-face classes resumed on November 3, Michael Poa, DepEd Spokesperson, proclaimed that the use of facemask is optional. “Schools may immediately implement optional masking indoors pursuant to E0 7”, he said.

Elvie Ranchez, school nurse, said that they still encourage students to wear mask since COVID-19 and other airborne diseases is still everywhere. Rheena-Ann D. Padilla, senior high school campus nurse designate, said that, “If you are sick, it’s either you don’t come to school or wear a mask”.

To further encourage every student to wear facemask, it is one of the criteria in the cleanest and healthiest room contest which started last January.

Survey says ‘turon’ is the most favorite food of learners in the school canteen.

Bullying increases; QNHS strictly adheres to DepEd’s Anti-Bullying Campaign

With the full implementation of faceto-face classes, the office of guidance counselor recorded an increase in bullying cases which led them to strictly implement measures aligned with Department of Education’s (DepEd) Bullying Prevention Advocacy Campaign that aims to recognize schools that deliver positive results for the learners’ well-being.

S. Pagadut, Guidance Counselor Designate, said in an interview with The Range.

(The cases really increased but we are doing everything to prevent the continuous increase of bullying cases.)

She further said that to fast track the resolve of

bullying cases, teachers were trained to deal with different situations.

In accordance with the DepEd’s campaign, schools will be assessed based on criteria aligned with the Child Protection Policy Implementation Checklist, principles and objectives of a child-friendly school, focusing on child’s rights, health, protection, and learners’ participation.

In response, the School

Governing Council meets and discussed the crafting of a localized child protection policy. It can be remembered that modular learning was implemented for the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to this, the learners have adjusted to socializing with others especially that not all learners have joined the limited face-to-face classes last school year.

The Municipality of Quezon Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has lauded the successful conduct of the 1st quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) but emphasized that there is still room for improvement, March 10. While the senior high school received a perfect score, the BFP identified several areas of concern in the main campus and new building.

There are some cases where teachers abuse their power and mistreat their students.

The BFP noted that students in the main campus did not wait for the alarm system to stop before evacuating, and some did not show urgency in their movements. In the new building, students on the fourth floor encountered difficulty in going out of the building mainly because of unestablished route for each class.

Transportation still remains as learners' problem - Survey

A recent survey conducted by The Range found that since the full implementation of face-to-face classes, transportation is still listed as the number one concern of the learners.

SAME AS LAST YEAR

A similar survey last school year yields the same result though it is because of the pandemic. Thirty-seven (37) of the 77 learners who joined the limited face-to-face classes cried of overcharging and selective attitudes of tricycle drivers.

STILL A PROBLEM

The survey this school year still shows that transportation is the number one problem with 49 of the 84 surveyed learners who are complaining of only few tricycles, drivers' selective attitude, and overcharging.

THE SAME ISSUES

As soon as the full face-to-face classes in all public and private schools started in the country last November 2022, many learners reported that there are too many students for only a few transportation vehicles.

The same issues as

last year was also reported in the survey where many of the tricycle drivers didn’t want to take Quezon National High School (QNHS) learners as passengers especially in the morning. A common issue reported by the learners with selective driver is that they prefer those whose destination is the nearby town Solano for them to earn more.

"Tricycle drivers usually skip me since our fare is only 20 pesos instead of to those who go to Solano for 50 pesos,"

Donabelle G. Canoy, a learner from Nalubbunan, reported in the survey.

The same scenario can be seen in the afternoon where drivers would sometimes tell that they are already waiting for someone.

NOT ENOUGH

Jennelyn Agpawa, a Grade 11 learner said that due to this, she is sometimes late in her first class in the morning. "Madami pong tricycle na dumadaan pero punuan po," she said. The fact that not only students in

(QNHS) are the passengers but also those high school and college students in Solano and Bayombong, the number of tricycles is clearly not enough.

OVERPRICING

Additionally, some students were observed not covering their heads while evacuating, and there were no command teams.

Christopher Agsunod, the School Disaster Risk Reduction Management coordinator, acknowledged the need to establish command teams in the junior high school and identify designated evacuation areas. He also stressed the importance of providing proper training for these teams.

In response,

Lourdes P. Abansi, the school principal, called for a review of the criteria with low scores. "Please take note of our lowest in performance. Let’s keep reminding our respective

students," she stated. She emphasized the school's commitment in ensuring the safety and well-being of the students.

The school plan to address the issues raised during the drill by conducting unexpected school-based earthquake drills twice a month.

The NSED will continue to be held four times a year to ensure that the school community is wellprepared in the event of an earthquake.

The BFP, led by SFO1 Analin M. Mallari, are urging students, faculty, and staff to take these drills seriously and to actively participate to ensure the success of future earthquake preparedness efforts.

Many learners also reported that tricycle drives are asking for too much fare. In one instance, Jennelyn Viloria, a Grade 11 learner from Maddiangat was asked to pay for 20 pesos as compared to the regular fare of 15 pesos.

The reports have reached the Quezon Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) to which the chairman of the education committee, Hon. Jobert Zyrus R. Cadiente, said that the problem started during the pandemic. "With approval from the Municipal InterAgency Task Force (MIATF), tricycle operators increased fare then," he said. The increased has not been reverted even if the normal number of passengers returned, he added.

SOLUTIONS

With all the reported issues, Cadiente is planning to submit a resolution enforcing the 2019 fare regulation. Further, he said that they will look into the possibility of merging the MIATF approved fare and the 2019 fare resolution but still their foremost concern is the safety and expenses of students everyday.

New Student Handbook supports DepEd gender-responsive policy

With the reiteration of the Department of Education's (DepEd) genderresponsive education policy stipulated in DepEd Order No. 32 S. 2017, the new constructed student handbook allows all students to wear the clothes they feel comfortable as long as they follow the proper dress codes. The handbook follows the departments' “guidelines for Gender-Responsive Basic Education that shall allow the Department to integrate

the principles of gender equality, gender equity, gender positivity, non-discrimination, and human rights in the provision and governance of basic education.”

Along with the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) meeting held last November 5, 2022, the new rule was discussed including the policies inside the campus, inside the classroom, attendance and punctuality, courtesy, and dress code. The corresponding disciplinary

action was also listed in the handbook from minor to major offenses.

The Supreme Student Government (SSG) Adviser, Lyrabelle B. Lugapo said that they are positive that the rules inside the handbook are clear to students and parents.

"Together with the School Governing Council (SGC), we believe that having a student handbook will provide all concern stakeholders of a basis for students' rules and regulations," she said.

enrolment by the numbers 1,205

Enrolment drops by 6%

Despite the implementation of full face-to-face classess, latest data shows that enrolment has dropped by six percent compared to the previous school year.

From last school year's 1,282, the enrolment as of February this school year stands at 1,205.

The biggest drop, at 25 percent or 49 learners, is in Grade 11. This is primarily due to Grade 10 graduates changing schools since Quezon National High School (QNHS) does not provide the strand they wish to enroll. The school principal, Dr. Lourdes P. Abansi said that there are students who needs to go out of QNHS due to this same reason. "Ang gusto kasi ng iba ay STEM kaya sila nagtra-transfer sa nearby schools o kaya sa mga private schools na nag-ooffer nito,"

Jolly C. Taminaya, registrar designate, added pertaining to the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics strand. Even the enrolment in Grade 7, Grade 8, and Grade 10 decreased by eight percent

17 percent and five percent, respectively.

Another common reason on the decrease is child labor. Many Grade 11 learners who have been working during the pandemic preferred continue earning money instead of going back to school, the registrar designate added.

Meanwhile, the highest increase, at 22 percent, is listed in Grade 12 mainly due to the high increase in the enrolment of Grade 11 last school year. An increase of 15 percent is also listed in Grade 9 which made the school administration open two ( additional sections, Mapagbigay and Matapat, to avoid overcrowding in classrooms.

This decrease is a setback after a consecutive increase of 22 and 17 percent in the previous two (2) school years.

53% Grade 7 under frustration level in reading

Based from the reading data gathered by the English Department in the first half of the school year, 53 percent or a total of 134 Grade 7 students is under frustration level.

The data further shows that there are 109 or 43 percent instructional readers while only four percent are independent readers.

Cecille D. Manangkil,

the Learning Area Coordinator in English said that they are attributing the low result to the modular setup of learning.

"Nasanay kasi sila na hindi sila nagbabasa sa bahay nila mula noong Grade 5 sila. Kaya hindi na-monitor yung improvement at the same time hindi naaddress yung difficulties nila sa reading," she said.

Average score still low

Despite a reported numeracy rate of 90 percent or 909 learners from Grade 7 to Grade 11, the data reveals that learners' average scores on a 40-point test is only 19. Further analysis of the data also show that only five learners got a perfect score or highly numerate while 103 learners got zero in at least one area thus nonnumerates.

Kenneth Arkin P. Galasinao, Quezon National High School (QNHS) Mathematics Coordinator said that there is really a

need to give intervention materials for non-numerates and enrichment activities for numerate learners.

A total of 1,012 learners answered the numeracy test which involves addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

The same test will be administered during the later weeks of fourth quarter to test the improvement of the learners.

This is also a soft start of the department's Project BILANG which will be launched next school year.

the Grade 7 reading ability, it is not the case for Grade 8 learners. The highest percentage of independent readers with 38 percent was recorded in this grade level. Total results shows that 21 percent or 193 students are independent readers, 56 percent or 514 learners are instructional readers, while 23 percent or 216 learners are under frustration level.

The English Department are conducting reading remediations every week to increase the reading level of learners. “Nagpapabasa kami every week depende sa reading level nila,” Krizel R. Lapada, the Grade 10 English teacher said when asked what interventions are they implementing to increase the number of independent readers. She further said

that if their reading level will increase the materials that they will read will also level up.

The remediation activities will continue until the end of the school year.

School's electricity bill soars to 57k amidst NUVELCO's record high rates

QZ Film Productions documentary wins second in division tilt

Quezon National High School's (QNHS) QZ Film Productions documentary film "Pananagutan" won second place bringing home 7,000 pesos in the Youth Film Competition in Teenage Pregnancy

Awareness conducted by the Schools Division of Nueva Vizcaya Health Section and Youth Formation

Unit in partnership with the Provincial and Local Government Unit of Nueva Vizcaya through the Provincial population office, last November 2023.

The documentary film is based on the true story of teenage parents who are currently students at QNHS Senior High School. The film shows their journey as they adjust from being a normal

student to being a parent at a young age.

Lezlie Calatero, one of the film's main characters said that she accepted the role to give a lesson to other teenagers. "Noong una nagdadalawang isip ako, dahil natatakot ako sa judgment ng iba, but Ma'am Rheena-Ann [Padilla] encouraged me to share my story.

Rheena-Ann D. Padilla, one of the coaches, said that the team chose to reenact a true story because it is better to have a "first-hand information."

The aim of the film competition is to educate the youth about the increasing number of teenage pregnancy cases in the province and in the region.

As the school year opens and the increase of amount per kilowatt per hour of the Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NUVELCO) which was even dubbed as the most expensive electricy in the Philippines, the electricity bill of Quezon National High School (QNHS) skyrocketed to as high as 57,000 pesos in the month of January 2023.

From the data supplied by the accounting office, an increase in the amount of electricty started last July 2022 with an average of 36,000 pesos until March 2023 as compared to the 12,000 pesos average from the same period last school year. When compared with the last school year which is modular learning, there is an increase of 200 percent.

Olivia S. Bancifra, the school accounting officer said that the increase is not just due to the increase of electricity from NUVELCO but the addition of the now functional four-storey new building which is occupied by

Grade 9 and Grade 10 learners.

In the month of January 2023, NUVELCO's power rate hits 21.83 kWh. In defense, NUVELCO argued that the high power rate is because of the generation charge from the electricity provider.

It is expected by the school administration that the electricity will still increase as the dry season which will mean hot and humid weather started.

To augment the further increase, the Supreme Student Government (SSG), and Youth for Environment in School Organization (YES-O) reminds learners to conserve

electricity. The new policy reminds learners to unplug appliances, and turn off lights at 7:30 to 8:30 AM, 9:30 to 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, and before going home after class.

This policy have been accepted by learners in different lights. April Faith Recile, an 11-ABM learner requested that 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM must not be included because many learners are eating inside the classroom. Possible changes may be discussed in further meetings by the executive committee to lessen the electricity bill in the coming months.

Volunteers join SSG, YES-O project to decrease plastic wastes

Volunteers from various grade levels have joined the Quezon National High School (QNHS) Supreme Student Government (SSG) and the Youth for Environment in School Organization (YES-O) project to decrease plastic wastes starting last February 2023.

Dubbed as P³ or Project Pulot Plastic, the activity aims to help the school in its fight against plastic wastes and convince students to lessen the use of plastics.

Inline with the “Makakalikasan” core value, the said activity aims to lessen plastics that have been scattered inside and around the campus.

Each week, eco warriors will walk around the school premises carrying trash bags to be filled with plastics in the school premises. The SSG President,

Kyla Angel C. Tugade, said that through the project they can help restore the beauty of the school grounds not just by the project but also doing the simplest ways such as segregating trash, saving energy, and planting more trees. She also encourages each and every student to join the said activity. "Sana marami pa po ang makisali sa weekly na pagpupulot namin ng basura para mas maging malinis ang school natin," she said. The project will run until the end of the current school year.

A Cycle of Bullying

School bullying is a cycle that can have lasting effects on a victim's life.

The Anti-Bullying Act of 2013, which covers students and children, is strictly enforced by the Department of Education. This legislation aims to protect students from bullying, which can have an adverse impact on their academic performance and social interactions. It also encourages students to stand up against bullies. Unfortunately, many victims do not ask for help from teachers, perpetuating the cycle. A single word or action can have a profound impact on someone's life, and it is essential to use this power responsibly.

Words and actions can be positive or negative, depending on how they are used. While individuals have the right to express their opinions, this does not give them the right to harm others emotionally or physically. Verbal abuse, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority, can result in a loss of self-efficacy and public dignity.

At Quezon National High School (QNHS), students and teachers are working hard to adjust to the new face-to-face implementation for the school year 2022-2023. The school is taking extra measures to ensure that every student is safe and protected from

Discipline through Strictness

As a student, I believe that having a strict teacher has its advantages. While there are certainly downsides to being taught in a strict environment, I believe that the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.

Firstly, a strict teacher can be an effective tool for teaching discipline and proper behavior. When students know that their teacher will not tolerate any kind of misbehavior, they are more likely to behave properly and follow the rules.

This can help create a more respectful and disciplined classroom environment, which is essential for effective learning.

Additionally, a strict teacher can help students stay focused and engaged during class. When students

Despite the strict implementation of antibullying policies, there are still cases of bullying at QNHS. against bullying.

While bullying in any form is strictly prohibited at QNHS, the school understands the importance of creating a positive atmosphere for every student. Teachers not only prioritize education, but they also focus on molding students into wellmannered individuals both inside and outside of the school.

It is crucial for students to understand that they should not be ashamed or afraid to seek help from teachers if they are being bullied. By breaking the cycle of silence and reporting incidents of bullying, we can work together to create a safe and nurturing environment for all students.

know that their teacher expects them to pay attention and participate actively, they are more likely to do so. This can lead to better learning outcomes and help students retain more information.

However, it is important to note that there are also disadvantages to having a strict teacher. Some students may be intimidated or afraid of their teacher, which can lead to a lack of participation or engagement in class. It is important for teachers to

find a balance between being strict and creating a welcoming and encouraging classroom environment.

As students, we should also remember to respect our teachers no matter what their teaching style is. While it may be tempting to criticize a strict teacher for being too harsh, we should remember that they are doing their best to prepare us for the future. Being disciplined and respectful is important not just in the classroom, but in all aspects of life.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Dear Editor,

I am writing to express my concern over the current transportation situation in our municipality. As a student, I rely heavily on public transportation to get to and from school. However, the constant delays and overcrowding on tricycles have made commuting a daily struggle.

I am hopeful that our government officials are taking steps to improve our transportation and alleviate the problems we are facing. I urge them to prioritize this issue and work towards finding solutions that will benefit everyone in the community.

Defining Success Beyond Grades

For years, students have been conditioned to believe that their grades define their existence. We have been taught to believe that getting good grades is the only measure of success in life. But in reality, grades only scratch the surface of what it means to be successful.

While they may be an essential part of the education system, we need to move beyond the traditional grading scale and start looking at other types of intelligence.

The current education system primarily focuses on the intelligence quotient or IQ. While IQ is an important measure of a person's reasoning ability, it fails to assess a student's overall capabilities. Other types of intelligence, such as emotional quotient (EQ), social quotient (SQ), and adversity quotient (AQ), are equally important and should be given more attention.

EQ is a measure of a person's ability to recognize and manage their emotions and the emotions of others.

SQ is the ability to socialize and build meaningful relationships with others, and AQ is the ability to persevere and overcome challenges in life. These types of intelligence are crucial for success in both personal and professional settings.

Grades can be a ticket to a better future, but they are not the be-all and end-all. We should not let our grades define us or limit our potential. As The Rock said, "Put in work and take what's ours." It's important to remember that grades do not determine our worth as individuals. We are more than our grades, and we should strive to develop our other

types of intelligence to achieve true success.

It's time to take a step back and reflect on what truly matters in life. Success is not just about getting good grades; it's about being a well-rounded individual who is capable of navigating through life's challenges. It's about developing emotional and social intelligence, as well as the ability to persevere in the face of adversity.

Let’s start moving beyond the traditional grading scale and start looking at other types of intelligence. Grades may be an essential part of the education system, but they do not define us as individuals. We need a more holistic education that focuses on developing our emotional, social, and adversity quotient to become successful individuals who can navigate through life's challenges. As the saying goes, "There's so much life outside of school," and it's time to start living it.

Your Grade Defines You

During the pandemic, students were attracted to being academic achievers and obtaining outstanding grades to satisfy themselves. However, some students have been influenced by the notion that grades do not define them and feel that extra credit is unnecessary for success. Nevertheless, the question remains: do grades truly matter?

Achieving the bare minimum grade may satisfy those who put little effort into their school work, but is it truly worth it?

School is a place for learning, where two types of students can be observed: academic achievers and those content with the bare minimum. The educational system has traditionally placed an importance on grades. They act as an indicator of a student's ability and development in

the classroom. The grades that appear on the student's report card are more than just a list of numbers; they have meaning and have the power to define that student.

However, it's not just about getting good grades; it's also about showing one's capacity for dedication and fulfillment in one's accomplishments. Poor grades may suggest a student lacks interest in or enthusiasm for learning, which can be damaging to their future learning or personal goals.

It's not just about getting good grades; it's also about showing one's capacity for dedication.

Conversely, good marks may demonstrate a student's perseverance and attention to their studies. Students can gain valuable life skills like time management, perseverance, and self-control by practicing the discipline and hard work that come with aiming for good grades. Their future careers can benefit from these abilities in every aspect of their lives.

Earning a bare minimum grade may seem worthwhile, but it doesn't mean you should put in less effort just to pass. It's not just about the grade, but also the knowledge and skills gained from school. If you pass with minimal effort, it implies that you didn't try your best. Saying that you gave your best effort may not be enough.

Grades do matter, because the number that have been shown in your report card defines you, and your characteristics as a student.

Revive Teacher Respect

It is up to us to treat our teachers with respect. They are the ones who lead us to develop into knowledgeable individuals who can make positive changes to society. It appears that some of us have lost this basic code of respect, though. It is simple to say "Good morning" to them and to show respect by using "po" and "opo." These little acts go a long way toward fostering a positive rapport between teachers and students.

Imagine a scenario where a teacher is conducting a class, but some students keep talking and making noise while the teacher is speaking. How would the teacher feel in such a situation? Disrespected, unappreciated, and undervalued, to say the least.

As students, we must understand that our teachers are not only imparting knowledge to us, but are also investing their time and energy in our future. Thus, it is critical that we pay attention to what they teach and treat them with utmost respect. Sadly, many students have developed the courage to disrespect their teachers as a result of laws that protect them.

The DepEd Child Protection Policy is one such law that aims to safeguard students from abuse, violence, exploitation, bullying, and other forms of abuse. Although this is an essential policy, it has unintentionally made it more challenging for teachers to correct

misbehaving kids. Teachers are in a tough position since they are unable to provide a simple disciplinary measure for unruly students. There are undoubtedly instances where teachers mistreat their students and abuse their authority. However, not all teachers are guilty of such behavior. It is unfair to generalize and punish all teachers for the actions of a few. Instead, we must continue to respect our teachers and treat them as family members. Building a positive relationship with our teachers can make the classroom environment more peaceful and beneficial for both students and teachers. It is absolutely our duty as students to treat our teachers with respect. We must acknowledge that they are devoting their time and effort in securing our future, and we owe them a debt of gratitude by obeying their advice and treating them with courtesy. The rules that are meant to safeguard us shouldn't cause us to treat our teachers with disgust. Instead, let's establish a good rapport with them so that we can make our classroom a calmer and more effective one.

'Group' work

Most of the times, group work in school activities isn't done by the group as a whole, but rather by one or two of the members. The remaining members are just letting them do it because apparently they don't know how without even trying or worst, they don't even care at all. But, I still believe that group work, if done correctly, its real purpose will give learners a lot of benefits. Group work in its real essence will teach learners how to share ideas and opinions.

They will learn to listen to other learner's opinions, which will increase their knowledge. These group tasks are designed to encourage collaboration among learners as they combine their strengths and knowledge to accomplish a common goal. However, more often than not, group tasks do not go as planned. Some group members don't do their fair part of the labor, allowing others to shoulder the burden. This is where the importance of accountability comes in. Each person in a group must be accountable for finishing the task they have

Progress over Procrastination

Procrastination is a common behavior that many people struggle with. It is the act of delaying or postponing a task, often to the point of causing stress and anxiety. This often becomes a habit for everyone. Procrastination may seem harmless at first, but, it can have serious consequences for personal success.

One of the main reasons students procrastinate is being lazy. When faced with a task that is challenging or unfamiliar, it can be tempting to put it off and prefer to do it the following day. However, this practice only serves to support laziness and can make it more difficult to overcome in the future. Instead, it is important to recognize that laziness is a natural part of the human being and needs to eliminate to attain

ATTITUDE CHECK

Another common cause of procrastination is lack of motivation. When we do not feel motivated, it can be difficult to gain energy. Most of the time, people desire to do easy things like playing online games and watching videos all day. They might even have more time watching or playing rather than do what must be done. This might ruin one's schedule leading to additional activities.

Eventually, many students procrastinate because they prioritize shortterm happiness over lengthy

goals. This can be seen in behaviors like checking social media or watching TikTok instead of working on a task that will pay off in the end.

To fight this, it can be helpful to set priorities in able to manage time effectively. It can also be helpful to create a habit that prioritizes important tasks.

While procrastination can be a difficult habit to break, there are a lot of strategies that can help. By identifying its causes and taking action to solve them, it is possible to overcome this common behavior and achieve greater success. Whether through putting achievable goals, destroying tasks down into smaller ones, or finding ways to stay motivated, the key to overcoming procrastination is to take action and make

Not a Good Habit

In this day and age, students often use inappropriate words, regardless of how they are feeling - happy, sad, and angry. Many learners seem to find it simple to express themselves through the use of harsh language, and this behavior can persuade others to follow suit. This is not a good habit and must be changed immediately. The family setting, where parents may utter bad words during fights or conflicts, can be linked to this poor language habit. Even at school, learners are exposed to these offensive terms and may start using them as well. This remark emphasizes how the learners environment has an impact on learners and how it can affect their actions and how they interact with other people.

It is important to remember that a student's action inside the classroom can have an impact on their fellow students. When someone uses foul language most of the time, it can have an impact on how people interact with one another

been given and making sure the group task is accomplished to the best of their abilities. It is essential that each member is held accountable for their contribution to the task. This not only ensures that the task is finished to a high degree, but it also imparts important life skills to the learners.

Further, participating in group activities can improve behavior. As learners work with a group, they must behave in a good way to keep the group organized and avoid clashing of ideas. Being with a group can make the task easier and finish faster.

Other learners can

improve their self-esteem too during a group task. Since learners will share opinions and give comments, the group will make a better decision. This will also be a way for learners to develop their ability to accept criticism or feedback from others.

On the other hand, some argue that group activity will only tolerate laziness of some students. We can’t deny that some students will only rely or depend on their team mate’s capability to finish their task.

The goal of group work is not achieved by this behavior, which is also unjust

to those who end up doing most of the work. If this will be tolerated, many learners will prefer working alone than giving the same points they earned to those who didn’t contribute in the activity.

I still believe that working with group will give us different advantages. It will help them grow by learning from different views and experiences of others. Working with other people will also encourage them to be an effective member, and leaders, not only inside the school but also in the community.

on a regular basis. Such bad behavior can drastically alter the school's atmosphere and negatively affect the learners' physical and emotional health.

Using bad words towards others is considered as a form of bullying and is prohibited inside the school. Any kind of abusive behavior, whether physical or verbal, is taken seriously, and immediate action is taken to address it. The school administration takes measures to promote a healthy and safe environment for all students, and it is imperative that students adhere to these rules and regulations.

As a student, it is essential to recognize that using bad words is indeed not a healthy habit. As it is needed for everyone, we must prioritize good manners and proper behavior inside the school. We should promote a culture of respect and kindness, which will ultimately benefit everyone.

It is our responsibility to start this change by practicing good behavior and setting an excellent example for others to follow.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT Her : PowHer : ANTHEMS

“Who run the world? Girls!” is a repeated line over the years that one can say that it is already an anthem to women who want to celebrate their strength and power. As any other art does, music is a powerful medium to portray thoughts and emotions. No wonder it has been used by women as a platform to raise their voices and make a statement about gender equality and women’s rights among others. These songs not only serve as anthems for women but also as a source of inspiration for anyone who feels powerless or unheard. So, as we proudly celebrate #WomensMonth and say #MeToo, here are some anthems that we can blast around our speakers to surge and encourage women’s strength, resilience, and independence.

‘TURON‘ BEATS THEM ALL

After two long tiring, and sometimes mind boggling, hours of morning subjects, it’s time to treat ourselves of savoury and mouth-watering freshly prepared snacks from the school canteen. As you walk towards the meryenda that is prepared on the table, lovely scent and aroma of each cooked food awakens your sleepy soul.

Served are simmering hot lugaw, creamy sopas, saucy spaghetti, curly pansit, sweet turon, fresher than the freshest fresh lumpia, and cheesy karioka. At an affordable price, your hunger will vanish instantly and your tummy will be filled in due time. But, who among these merienda’s will win in a battle to claim the ‘most favorite’?

TURON

Hail to the best deep-fried snack in Asia, and the school. With your 10-peso coin, you can afford to buy a tasty and healthy turon. It is sugar-coated ripe banana wrapped with a thin pastry skin, or “wrapper”, with a crispy caramel crust. It is deep fried in hot oil and served immediately so that you can enjoy it in its crispiest.

KARIOKA

The controversial spaghetti which was even ranked as one of the worst dishes in the world by Taste Atlas doesn’t take no from students. It is truly loved and a certified never-can’t-get-enough food we’d always want anytime. Learners (even teachers) are the basis that no definite age can’t resist spaghetti.

Lugaw or porridge also made it in the list with 3.5 stars. It’s just not made for people who are sick, but if being sick would make me try it, I’d definitely will. Served and mixed with chicken’s meat just like the classic plus boiled egg is a food that I’d die for. Lugaw is indeed essential as some learners are eating it for breakfast!

The new food in school is in the list. It is a sweetened coconut rice ball with cheese inside. It is sold by the stick, which contains three karioka balls and costs only 12 pesos! The mere sight of it causes a flurry of excitement and anticipation, as learners flock to the counter, eager to get their hands on it. As soon as the first bite hits their taste buds, they’re transported to a world of flavor and texture. Its chewiness and salty-sweet taste is a perfect combination. Savor every bite, its flavors and its texture that makes it so irresistible. Always worth the try, taste buds will fly!

LUMPIA

Who wouldn’t love lumpia if the school canteen also provides vinegar dip or sawsawan? It is a Filipino food filled with vegetables that are truly delicious (your grandma would approve). Add its crispy outside and savory inside, it is a perfect merienda. There is no doubt that it is rated 3.5 stars by the respondents.

This is a about the double standards that women face in the society as a whole. In the song, Taylor imagines what her life would be like if she was a man and points out the ways in which women are often criticized. The lyrics, “I’m so sick of running as fast as I can / Wondering if I’d get there quicker if I was a man” highlight the challenges that women face in a world that often favors men. The song is a powerful reminder of the need for gender equality and ongoing fight for women’s rights.

This is another song that celebrates self-love and selfacceptance. The song's lyrics, "I love me, gonna love myself / No, I don't need anybody else" encourage listeners to prioritize their own happiness and well-being. The song's upbeat melody and positive message make it a popular choice for anyone who needs a boost of confidence. As they say, no one else will help us if we will not help ourselves first.

This upbeat track is a verse to female power that encourages women to take control of their lives and to not let anyone hold them back. The song’s catchy chorus, “Who run the world? Girls!” has become a popular catchphrase that is often used to show solidarity among women and likely became a feminist anthem. With lines like “My persuasion can build a nation,” Beyonce makes it clear that women are a force to be reckoned with the ability to create real change.

Talk about self-love and selfempowerment. The lyrics “I can buy myself flowers… I can hold my own hand… I can love me better than you can” highlight the recognition of a frustrating situation, but choosing to let go and focus on being good to yourself. Sometimes, all we need is a little push not from somebody else, but from ourselves. Because when you really are feeling down like the whole world is against you, breathe and think #MeFirst, #LoveYourself, #SelfCare.

Call it mantra, self-prayer or a motivation to yourself. The lyrics of the song really hits to the bone when we needed some reminder that we are all beautiful in our own little ways. “I am woman, I am fearless, I am sexy, I’m divine”, here is Emmy’s way to speak to us that we should feel confident in our own skins and be unapologetically free and beautiful. “BECAUSE BEING A WOMAN IS SACRED.” - @emmymelimusic

This empowering song celebrates belief in one’s self and trusting the journey’s process. Inspired by the words of Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray, where she said “I would name my song, ‘Raise Your Flag,’ because I stand here not as one, but as 104 million Filipinos!” So, whenever you are feeling that you are taking too long in reaching your destination, trust the process, believe in yourself and #RYF.

This song rejects the harmful beauty ideals of society, which call for one to be attractive in line social expectations. This song embodies selfconfidence and upholding one's identity. Don't ever doubt yourself or compare yourself to others because just like the lyrics says, "Di ko kailangang sumabay pa sa uso / Ako'y magiging ako na aking ginusto." Keep in mind that you are powerful, gorgeous, and exceptional.

This is a song that encourages women to embrace their imperfections and to love themselves for who they are. The song's lyrics, "You don't have to change a thing / The world could change its heart" highlight the importance of self-love and self-acceptance. The song's message is particularly important in a society that often pressures women to conform to unrealistic beauty standards.

“Who says you’re not perfect? Who says you’re not worth it?” tells us of encouragement to ourselves and believe in our abilities. The song promotes self-acceptance and confidence. The message of belongingness and that everyone is beautiful in their own way is very strong that even the music video features women of diverse ages and sizes.

This is a sassy and upbeat pop song that encourages women to be proud of their achievements. The song's lyrics declare that "if I was you, I'd wanna be me too," promoting the idea of self-love and self-confidence. How else can a woman celebrate herself but by putting priority to ownself.

Women's songs for empowerment have been crucial in motivating and empowering women all over the world to stand up for their rights, worth, and selves. These songs have supported women in finding their voices, boosting their confidence, and shattering gender stereotypes and societal norms. Whatever song you choose to play, women's anthems have contributed significantly to our cultural legacy by serving as constant reminders of the power and resilience of women. These songs will continue to be effective pillar for change and sources of inspiration as we continue to fight for women's rights and gender equality.

And of course, the classic sopas and pansit are will always be there for us. These are filipino foods that we can’t outgrow. May it be for a long life or just to ease the hunger with a creamy and flavorful soup, these two will never fail. These are filipino signature foods that will never leave our celebrations and tables.

The school canteen is a place to grab a bite to eat. You have lots of different types of for you to choose from. There some crackers and juice too!

Most think that the food the canteen is pretty cheap, some students are surprised the prices. Don’t worry because school is always trying to do better to make the food even tastier more affordable.

So next time you’re feeling hungry, why not give the canteen try? With so many delicious options and a commitment making things better, you won’t be disappointed. Promise!

It's Monday, which means it's time to begin the tiring week. I immediately rise out of bed. A massive yawn escapes my mouth as I slowly stretch my achy back. Groggily, I survey my surroundings and notice that the darkness still envelops the room. Even so, I still want to sleep. I want to curl back up, but instead, with the grogginess weighing heavily on me, I trudge to the bathroom and stand in front of the sink.

In an effort to rouse my slumbering soul, I wash my face with cold water. The coldness of the water feels almost surreal as it rushes over my face and fingers. The sudden shock jolts me awake, sending tingling sensations across my skin. My eyelids are free of eye boogers and tiredness.

Being the responsible person that I am, I instantly

open our casserole when I get to the kitchen to see whether there is any rice left. And there we have it—what a ravenous animal we were last night. I then prepare rice for us so we can have breakfast, and I can have lunch at school. Better get ready for it.

Moving at 2x speed, it is no surprise that I'm all packed for school. With this big backpack that I have, you can say that I'm ready like a Girl Scout. However, I'm not prepared for the downfall of the crying rain as it pours over the Earth's crust. What a lucky day for people like me living far from the school. Just great! Might as well use an umbrella.

Time check – it is 6:30 in the morning when I finally head to school. It's a hassle to wait for tricycles here. Even if you're early to do so, you're bound to suffer from waiting. And that's the reality I've been constantly facing. I wish we

Beloved self,

are closer to the school so I could avoid this situation. My feet are numb from standing here. The downpour seemed to get harder as the time approached 7:00 am, and the thought of waiting for a trike grew less and less gratifying. A familiar face appeared as an indicator of hope just as optimism was starting to fade.

I eagerly accepted my cousin's offer of a ride when he arrived on his tricycle. The sound of the engine roaring carried me away from the gloomy morning and drowned out the sound of the rain.

Good thing I'm not

late for the flag ceremony. It's such a relief to have people who still manage to be kind. However, I still despise some tricycle drivers for declining me a ride because my fare is lower than others. It sounds like discrimination.

After the flag ceremony, the rest of the day looms ahead of me, filled with eight grueling subjects that I have to somehow tackle before the final bell rings. Just thinking about it makes me wish it is Friday so tomorrow would be the weekend. Am I always complaining? Doing this for the rest of my years would seem to burn me out

for a lifetime.

As I make my way to my first class, I can't help but feel unease. The weight of the day ahead feels like a heavy burden on my shoulders and I'm not ready for this.

The rain didn’t stop all day. As 5:00 pm approaches, a thought keeps taking up space inside my head: how will I get home in this downpour? By the time the final bell rings, I am mentally exhausted but also exhilarated. I have traveled through eight different worlds in a single day.

While walking out of the campus in my umbrella, I still feel the touch of the rain cradled by the wind as it lands on my skin. It's cold like ice, reflecting society itself. Looking from afar, no tricycles are waiting for me. It saddens my whole being. I have to wait over and over again. Like just for once, why can't someone be there for me? Everything seems so hard and out of my reach.

What are you up to? I see you're on your way to school after the weekend, ready to do the endless cycle with no definite plan in mind, just scared, confused, and amazed at how your life has come to this state.

Extraordinary, it had always been. It introduced you to the real world and more to your own self. All the qualities of head and heart have earned yourself a profound love and respect to those people at school. With the positive atmosphere you find everytime you enter the room till studying up to the end of the day, to you, it'll always be memorable.

You personally believe that life is all about learning. Until that day comes and say those final and unforgettable goodbyes. Every minute to you that are spent fills your mind with nostalgic memories and feelings.

How's school? You firmly admit it that you relish paying time there. “School's good” you responded, though is it true? As you got home, you start letting out those feelings you've kept the whole day. Drained, tears start rolling down your cheeks, hand shaking, and your breathing with a heavy heart. But you continue to consider that everything's okay and that it happens for a reason. You have motivation, your dreams and those people that are part of your life, ups and downs. You should live that school life to the fullest because it is to keep for a lifetime.

Keep it up, Lauren

EMBRACING JOURNEY

It was the seven in the morning when my classmates were panicking over our grades. It’s the day wherein the results of our hard work will show. I was overthinking my possible grades not until I was disrupted by my teacher’s appearance near the door.

I fixed my seating arrangement like he always says to avoid getting scolded. Entering with an annoyed look, my heart beat as loud as a drum. We know our time today with him won’t be alright since we know that expression already. Everything

went silent as if they sensed my teacher’s mood. He looked at me directly while saying his unbearable words about how we failed the exam last week. It was so bad; it affected our grades. I can’t stand his stares and I did what I can. It can’t be. Suddenly, he mentioned my name without any pause. The only one who failed in his class. The only one. I panicked and my thoughts start to race. How come? What did I do?

I can’t stand my classmates with those piercing eyes. I just taught how come he’d say it in front of others instead of letting us know one by one?

it and be complacent. I don’t want to hear murmurs in the hallway and everywhere talking about how I failed. The disappointing tone of my mother, my dad, my relatives, and worst, me. I’m sick of it. I just need to comply now and give it a shot. I can do something about it. Perhaps I need to try again and do better. It might take me time to recover from the embarrassment and trauma I got from my teacher, but I’ll be fine. The bad thing here is, it’s just one subject. How about the others?

"Do you ever look at someone and wonder what's going on inside their head?"

(Inside Out, 2017). At some point, we do.

Misery and happiness are unavoidable because we are human, with feelings and emotions, thoughts and ideas, perspectives and diverse points of view. As with intense joy, sadness, overwhelming rage, excessive disgust, and uncontrollable terror. Have you ever been in a position where you just couldn't handle it any longer?

Feelings all at once. Thoughts keep on popping and your brain won't shut. On the edge of crying because of reasons that not all can guess. But breaking down the common yet painful explanations are sadness, stress, anxiety, and depression.

Sadness as defined by Cambridge Dictionary is the feeling of being unhappy, especially because something bad has happened. Stress in the same dictionary mentioned above is a great worry caused by a difficult situation or something that causes this condition. A nervous disorder characterized by a state of excessive uneasiness and apprehension, typically with compulsive behavior or panic attacks is called anxiety by

psychiatrists and depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called a major depressive disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems.

Experiencing those is a heavy weight to carry all by ourselves. It's like a bag that weighs you down if not given the care and attention it needs. Feeling hopeless could result in negative consequences such as self-sabotage, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and worst, committing suicide.

So tap their back. Look around. Check and give them a warm hug. Help them sit with their feelings. Let them feel heard, seen, valued, and loved. Be gentle. It takes a lot of guts to do so, but it won't cost you anything. Be there for them and you too.

AI is a tool, not a replacement for learning

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been an exciting development in the field of computer science. Among the various AI applications, ChatGPT stands out as an artificial intelligence developed by OpenAI that has made waves in education. Since its introduction to the public, students have increasingly relied on ChatGPT to complete their tasks.

ChatGPT is a program that can respond the same way each time, to respond differently to messages that contain certain keywords, and even use machine learning.

As a result, learners use it as a substitution for their knowledge. ChatGPT has many uses, and learners have utilized it to finish their given tasks. It helps facilitate the learning process, providing more for learners

and teachers to improve their knowledge.

The impact of AI on learning is significant. It has made learners and teachers smarter, enhancing the ability of individuals to learn in their own way. It serves as a great assistant to teachers to improve the ability and quality of learners. ChatGPT can be a great advantage for those doing their task individually, especially those who need extra classes to complete their homework or to take their test.

However, despite its advantages, using AI in education also has its downsides. One of the primary concerns is that learners would only rely on technology, resulting in cheating. Rather than trying their best to accomplish their homework, they would prefer to look for answers on social media. This means that instead of learning,

HbyDonabelleCanoyugeLeap for Mankind

their knowledge decreases even more. As a result, teachers should be aware that many modern technologies and applications have already been introduced to the public, and learners don't always care if they learn anything or not.

Moreover, AI poses a significant danger to education. Learners could easily manipulate the system to cheat or misrepresent their knowledge. They could use ChatGPT to write essays or complete tests without actually learning anything. This not only harms their education but also undermines the integrity of the educational system.

As the development of AI speeds up, teachers must be aware of the potential benefits and dangers of its use. There are lots of benefits from AI, and it will make life easier in many ways. But,

it also poses a real threat to the integrity of education. Because ChatGPT is widely used in education, students must learn how to distinguish between trustworthy and untrustworthy sources. They have to understand how to actively learn rather than relying entirely on technology. Indeed, ChatGPT is a fantastic tool for both students and teachers. However, it must be used carefully and with prudence. As AI advances, distinguishing between humans and machines will become more difficult. As a result, the value of active learning, critical thinking, and ethical behavior will grow even more in the coming years. Learners and teachers must remember that AI is just a tool and not a replacement for learning.

First-ever in human history, scientists have grown plants from the soul of the moon. A huge discovery in space exploration and to mankind, what a groundbreaking experiment!

The University of Florida (UF), researchers as published in the journal “Communications Biology” illustrated that they grew sprouts in lunar soil.

Researchers used the collected small samples of dust during Apollo 11, 12, and 17 from 19691972. From that year

until 1972, astronauts of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) brought back 382 kg of lunar rocks, core samples, pebbles, sand, and dust from the lunar surface. The University of Florida was handed over 1g of soil per plant for the experiment.

First, the researchers used Arabidopsis Thaliana or thale cress, which grows easily and produces many seeds. The cress is edible, however, it’s not tasty or a food crop. It’s related to the family of broccoli, kale, turnips, and cauliflower. It has been studied broadly and responds to a hostile environment,

even in space. They planted in the size of thimbles as pots and plastic trays for culture cells. Scientists then nurtured the plant with nutrients and water. After two days, the plant sprouted.

“Every plant—whether in a lunar sample or control— looked the same up until

They may be a few small plants, but they could represent the beginning of a giant leap for human space exploration.

Earth is a diversified place but indeed a beautiful and perfect home for everyone. But because of our inhuman deeds such as improper cutting down of trees, abusive and inappropriate mining, factories pollutions, human wastes and garbages being dumped everywhere and fossil fuel productions, which by all means terrible. And as a result, the world is heading towards a catastrophe that could possibly lead everyone to bad scenes.

News about the arrested scientists because they are conducting a protest rally to save the earth circulate in the mid of April. With the current advancement in the digital world, how are we going to help in saving Earth. Here are some eco-friendly search engines that you may use to help in reducing the emission of carbon footprints in the world.

Ecosia

Ecosia is the most popular eco-friendly search engines that focuses on planting trees. It aims for reforestation, reduction of carbon dioxide and other climate change projects. At least 80% of its income from search queries are donated to non-profit organizations dedicated to reforestation and climate action.

For every 45 searchers, the search engine claims that you can plant a tree. In the upper right corner of the search engine, you can see your impact as the number of tress you panted can be seen.

According to Oceanhero, approximately 10 million metric tons of plastic waste enter the ocean each year. That’s why the search engine is launced to recover, ocean-bound plastic, build recycling infrastractures, educate about pollution and solutions, and connect people with the ocean. The search engine features a shell counter – each search is equal to 20 shells. In every 100 shells you collect, the organization claims to recover one ocean-bound plastic.

Elliot for Water

This is a simple search engine that focuses on helping people to have access to clean water while supporting water sustainability. At least 60% of the revenues generated by search ads are donated to support solar energybased technologies and products that purify water through desalination, irrigation, and dehydration techniques.

At the upper right side of the search engine, you’ll see how many searches have you done. Approximately, every search donates 14 liters of pure drinking water.

Don’t worry, all of these search engines are secure.

3 WAYS TO SAVE ELECTRICITY

CLASSROOM EDITION

Electricity is essential in schools, especially in the Phillipine classrooms where temperatures can soar high during the summer and can be dark during wet season.. However, it can also be a significant expense. With the continuous increase of power rate, it's important to find ways to reduce energy consumption and save money. Here are three simple ways to save electricity in school:

1 2 3

Turn off lights and appliances when not in use

Always remember to turn off lights and other appliances when you will leave a room.

Use natural light. Go outside during lunch

Open windows, doors, and curtains to let natural light into the classroom instead of relying on artificial lighting. This will also creates a more pleasant learning environment.

Take advantage of the fresh air and natural shade under the trees during lunch.

We can assist the school in reducing energy consumption and saving money on electricity bills by putting these straightforward suggestions into practice. These actions may also encourage a sustainable culture among teachers and students. Turning off lights, using natural lighting, and spending breaks outside may help students and teachers stay cool while also helping to create a more sustainable future.

Do you ever look up at the sky in the middle of the night and wonder if there is life somewhere else in the universe?

Earth is just a tiny dot in the vastness of the universe, like a needle in a haystack. The question is: Is there life out there?

The Search for Next Earth

As we look around, technological advancement is obvious. The methods we use to search for life have evolved along with life itself. The human species lives on knowledge and advancement, whether it be in the realm of agriculture or even in space travel. We do, however, share a belief that life may exist on Mars.

Our neighboring planet in the Solar System is

Mars, also referred to as the red planet. With an average temperature of 63°C below freezing, it is extremely cold. It is a target of the Sun's radiation since it contains 95.3% carbon dioxide. Because of these challenging circumstances, liquid water is unstable on its surface. The question is, can organisms endure? Even so, it continues to generate astounding findings, which keeps the public interested.

The European Space Agency's Express made the observation that there is a remote possibility of life existing on Mars. One explanation for this is that the planet's surface is covered in ice caps, sometimes known as subterranean lakes. It is

essential for the occurrence of life.

It's possible that life on Earth originated on Mars. It was discovered in 1996 by scientists that the Martian meteorite ALH84001 contained what appeared to be our kind of microbial remains. However, rather than determining that it is a sign of life, the majority of specialists ultimately decided that there must be another explanation. Mars continues to be a top target for scientists looking for life so they can study it more thoroughly. Who knows—perhaps one day our next journey will involve a galactic tour?

It was late of January when we thought of celebrating my mother’s birthday by cooking pansit. However, we were met with a challenge when the price of onions skyrocketed due to a shortage.

Filipino's have a deep connection to onions, which are an essential component of our cuisine. Used in numerous traditional Filipino dishes, onions are a fundamental element of the Filipino kitchen, adding flavor and texture to soups, stews, and sautéed dishes. When prices surged to as much as 800 pesos per kilogram, many Filipinos felt a sense of despair and disappointment. This serves as a stark reminder of the crucial role onions play in Filipino culture and their impact on daily life.

Despite being one of the major producers of onion, Cagayan Valley was still affected by the surge of onion price. With this events in the past months, don’t you think it’s time to start planting onions?

When to plant onions?

The ideal time to plant onions is during the cool season, which typically falls between October and February. During this period, the weather is cooler, with lower temperatures, making it conducive for onion cultivation.

How to plant onions?

To grow onions, the most common method is to plant onion seeds. However, onions in your kitchen can be planted too. Take the outside parts of the onion, and plant the middle part with its roots or cut off the root end and plant it. Large containers such as plastic drums and the like may be utilized for planting.

You should take note that onion yields are better in mild weather- not much rain and extreme heat. Good control in irrigation should be done to avoid too much water in order to prevent the drowning of new onions. Weeds should be watched out too since they grow around it making them your enemies. It can be solved through your hands manually or chemical spraying.

When to harvest?

Onions are typically ready for harvesting about four to six months after planting, depending on the onion variety and growing conditions. One of the signs when onions are ready to be harvested is when its leaves turns yellow and begins to wither, signaling that the onion bulbs have reached maturity.

Planting onions isn't as hard as it seem, right? What are you waiting for? Start planting onions!

For over 8-years, Nathan have been spending his life pitching balls in a field under the scorching heat of the sun. Unfortunately, this is his last year to play baseball as a high school student.

During the training for the 2023 Provincial Athletic Meet, Nathan would wake up early everyday to prepare his gloves and gear for baseball training. Alongside his coplayers, they would start their day by jogging around the field before beginning

their warm-up exercises. The highlight of the day was always the start of their game, and this routine had become a part of Nathan’s daily life.

On a scorching day on March 5, Nathan and his team faced off against the Villaverde Baseball Players, and tensions ran high as they battled it out for four grueling hours. While Quezon ultimately came in second place, his and the team's pride remained undiminished.

As Nathan’s final year nears its end, he felt a rollercoaster of emotions. While he was sad that he would no longer be able to play for his school, he also felt a deep sense of honor to represent QNHS. Being the last year for Nathan to play

baseball, he penned a message for the next Baseball Varsity players of QNHS.

"Sana maging masipag sila during trainings para maabot nila yung pinakamahusay nilang laro," he said. Nathan's message was clear: always strive to do your best, but also be aware of the responsibilities that come with being part of a team.

For Nathan, baseball had been more than just a sport. It had become a part of his life and had given him some of the best moments of his high school years. As he hangs up his gloves and moves on to the next chapter of his life, Nathan will always be remembered as part of the Quezon Varsity Baseball team.
