So much to do, so little time!

We have made it to the halfway point of the year and our ‘Love It’ program is bigger and better than ever! Please do embrace and enjoy a program of fun and fulfilling activities that have been put together especially for you. We want you all to participate, make the most out of what is on offer and, most importantly, have fun. You will find that there are a host of activities but, please, if none of them tickle your fancy, don’t hesitate to put forward your own suggestions so that we can make them happen.

WHAT Year 12 Dessert and Games Night

Before you all start on the trials, let’s come together and celebrate how far you have all come. We have a mixture of treats and flavours for you to create your dessert creations with. Think Cold Rock... each dessert needs a name!

While you enjoy your dessert, the Lang staff will help run some games — charades, karaoke, or maybe Pictionary.

FRIDAY 2 AUGUST

WHAT Boarders Get Baking – NAIDOC Week

Today we will be doing something a little bit different in Boarders Get Baking. We will be joined by Miss Howie, and we will be heading down to the Yarning Circle to make johnny cakes by the open fire. What a wonderful way to celebrate NAIDOC week as we enjoy the process of cooking and learning about the history behind the significance of johnny cakes and why NAIDOC week is important.

As Year 11 enter their final term, it’s time for to come together and celebrate the journey we’ve shared so far. We’ve prepared a delightful assortment of treats and flavours for you to unleash your creativity in crafting desserts, inspired by the spirit of Cold Rock... each dessert creation deserves a unique name! While indulging in these sweet delights, the Goodlet staff will facilitate entertaining games ensuring a memorable and enjoyable gathering for all. Let’s cherish this moment of camaraderie and fun as we reflect on our collective achievements.

WHAT Movies at Hornsby Odeon

Since being built in 1914, The Odeon has been a favourite venue of people on the Lower North Shore. This evening you have the opportunity to enjoy this historic theatre in the company of your Boarding sisters and perhaps even some of our boarding neighbours. The program will be announced soon but with all the latest blockbusters on offer it is sure to be a fabulous night out.

WHAT Year 7 and 8 Pizza and Trivia Night

We have invited the boarders from Knox for two separate events. Year 7 will host the boarders in Avonmoore and Year 8 will host in the Boarders’ Dining Room. Enjoy an evening of pizza and trivia and enjoy the opportunity to forge friendships with our brothers at Knox.

SUNDAY 4 AUGUST

WHAT Pymble and Gordon Uniting Church Service and Brunch

As part of the Pymble and Gordon Uniting Community, our girls will join with the congregation for a wonderful celebration of confirmations and baptisms. This will be followed by a delicious brunch in the Boarders’ Dining Room at 10.30am. This is a compulsory event for all Boarders. No leave will be permitted until after brunch.

WHAT Boarders Get Baking

What do you get when you combine a brownie and a cookie? A brookie!

A brookie is a hybrid dessert that combines the fudgy richness of a brownie with the chewy texture and flavours of a cookie. WHAT Year 10 Dessert and Games Night

It is Year 10s turn to come together as Boarding sisters. We have several new girls to welcome into the fold this term! Tonight, will be a great opportunity to get to know our new sisters and share some delicious desserts and games. Last term, you all played UNO Flip – which game will you play tonight as you forge new friendships?

Get ready for an evening of friendly competition and laughter as you join the Boarders for an adventure at Strike Bowling. Today you will be learning how to make the Marillenkuchen, otherwise known as the Viennese apricot cake. This classic Austrian pastry is a wonderful combination of a simple cake base with a touch of lemon and large pieces of tender apricots nestled on top. It’s a popular choice during the fruit’s season and makes for a delicious anytime treat.

WHAT Luna Park

A day out at the iconic Luna Park is just what we need at this stage of the term. A special event has been organised with all the boarding schools in Sydney to meet at Luna Park for the day. From rollercoasters to ferris wheels and dodgem cars, there is something for everyone. We can’t wait to catch up with our boarding brothers and sisters from Knox, Wenona, Riverview, Abbotsleigh and Loreto Normanhurst.

WHAT Boarders Get Baking

Are you a fan of TikTok? With 1.2 million views the giant Biscoff cookie pie is a recipe trend that we have to try. Born in 1932, thanks to Belgian baker Jan Boone Sr, Lotus Biscoff emerged as caramelised biscuit made from natural ingredients. It pairs perfectly with coffee and is allegedly a combination of ‘biscuit’ and ‘coffee’.

To celebrate all the important dads and men in our lives, we have put on this special event to encourage some healthy competition amongst the dads. We will be heading to the Greens at North Sydney for a barefoot bowls and burgers event.

WHAT Laser Tag

Prepare for an adrenaline-fueled adventure as you join your Boarding sisters for an epic session of laser tag. Step into a futuristic battleground, where darkness is illuminated by neon lights and the air crackles with excitement. In this immersive experience of strategy and teamwork, friendships are forged, and memories are etched in the exhilarating moments of laser tag with the Boarders.

WHAT Northern Beaches Picnic

Celebrate the end of winter with an escape to the Northern Beaches for a picnic in the sunshine. The area extends south to the entrance of Port Jackson, west to Middle Harbour and north to the entrance of Broken Bay - we will follow the sun (and perhaps the surf) to find the perfect picnic spot. It is a fantastic opportunity to explore a new destination in the company of your Boarding sisters.

Ever tried to make a Mille Feulle? Now’s your chance! The delicious mille feuille, or “thousand sheets” in French, is a classic dessert composed of three layers of light-as-air puff pastry filled with creamy mascarpone and topped with farmfresh strawberries.

WHAT Welcome a day girl to our Boarding family

This is an opportunity to invite your day girl friends for a dinner and a movie. Welcome the girls in from 4.00pm and explore the campus together on bikes or on foot. How about a spot of tennis or perhaps some games on the lawn. Then, settle in for a delicious dinner and movie in the lounge.

WHAT Thrifting adventure with Mrs Myles

A trip to UTURN Punchbowl is unlike any other op-shopping experience. You’re welcomed by rows of racks as far as the eye can see, laden with denim, vintage sportswear and highstreet finds. Aside from the racks of second-hand, first-rate clothing, you’ll also find miscellaneous homewares, rugs and ‘pay per kilo’ bins. Mrs Myles can’t wait to introduce you to all these fabulous finds.

WHAT Boarders Get Baking – Garden Party Bake Off

The countdown to Garden Party is on and our Boarders’ Pantry products will be in hot demand! Granola, Anzacs and a host of other treats are on the menu for our Boarders’ stall with all profits going towards the Boarders’ Scholarship fund. We are going to be cooking as many cupcakes as we can in preparation for the Boarders’ Stall. How many batches can you nail in this time?

Step into a world of enchantment as the Mid-Autumn Festival unfolds with its vibrant colours and rich traditions. The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a traditional festival celebrated in Chinese culture. Starting with traditional games and lantern parade and followed by a delicious Chinese feast, it is sure to be a night to remember.

WHAT Boarder Community Event - The Press Club

Join us at the Warrawee Club for a fabulous night of fun and dancing with Sydney’s best party band, The Press Club. With a carefully selected song list, there will be universally loved songs set to top the fun of. This night is part of our Community Weekend and all Boarders are required to attend. We hope our parents will also be able to join us following the Boarding Parent Group meeting in the afternoon. More details will follow in the newsletter but for now get ready to get down!

WHAT Garden Party

The wait is finally over! It seems like just yesterday when we celebrated the Garden Party and here we are again! This is one of the best days of the year at Pymble. The sun is always shining, and it is a wonderful opportunity for our families to give back to the community. Girls will be rostered on to help at the Boarders stall and we have plenty of parents who are excited to join together and celebrate what it is to be a Pymble Boarder.

WHAT AFLW – Giants vs Swans

Gear up for an electrifying afternoon as we head to our first AFLW game of the season at Henson Park. The Swans are new to the competition, and this will be the battle of the season for these two great Sydney Teams. Which side will you be on? Remember to wear your team colours!

A wonderful celebration of our Year 12s. They start their Boarding life with a chapel service, so it is only fitting that we also conclude with a chapel service. The Year 11s have already started work on this wonderful celebration of their time at the College.

WHAT Year 12 Boarder and Parent Celebration Event

The Year 12 Boarders’ farewell and celebration event is a bittersweet gathering, that encapsulates the journey, friendships and growth experienced during their time together. Emotions run high as the Boarders reminisce about shared adventures, late-night conversations and the support they provided one another throughout their Boarding years. With a mix of nostalgia and excitement for the future, the Year 12 Boarders farewell and celebration event becomes a cherished memory, a testament to the lasting connections forged during their time as part of a close-knit Boarding family.

If you have an exciting activity in mind, get together with a group of friends and put together a proposal. Whether it’s a night out at a favourite restaurant, a trip to a local market or an inner-city expedition, get your ideas down on paper, suggest a date and we will do our best to make it happen.

ORGANISE A SLEEPOVER

We would love you to invite a friend from the day school to stay over on a Friday or Saturday night. Propose some dates to your Head of House and make it happen!

OR BETTER STILL…

We would love you to invite up to two of your friends from the day school in for a pizza and movie night. Once again, propose some dates to your Head of House and make it happen!

Drop into Marden/Lang or Avonmoore and bake until you drop! We are all stocked up ready for you to create your masterpieces.

CARDS

Lyn and Deb are on each Saturday and love a game of cards. Get them to teach you one of their favourite games. UNO Flip has also become very popular in house. Gather a few friends for a card night.

PEDICURE

Just because it is winter, doesn’t mean that we get to neglect our feet. Gather some friends and have a pedicure session in house. The Houses have a selection of colours to choose from.

CROCHET

Do you know how to crochet? Holly is on every Sunday in Goodlet and is an expert in crocheting. Head on down to see if she can teach you the basics.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER RUINS AN EXCURSION?

Our wet weather back up plan for the term is a trip to Bondi Junction Shopping Centre. Check out the plethora of shops and places to eat. It is a one-stop shop for shopping, fun and relaxation.
