2025 HSC Dance Showcase
Because when you’re having a good time… you don’t stop. Even when you’re 90% done and it somehow feels like there’s still 100% to go—project deadlines, exam prep, performance rehearsal chaos —Dance people know that’s the moment to turn up the energy, not slow it down. The famous Queen song of ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ captures our Curriculum Dance vibe.
In Academic Dance, that’s just how we roll. Our 68 Curriculum Dance students in Years 8, 10, 11, and 12 are not only pirouetting for the joy of it—they are diving into the biomechanics of movement, critical analysis, choreography, creative problem solving, and group collaboration. They are training their bodies and their brains to work in harmony—because a great dancer is never just one thing.
In our classes, Ms Cooper Findlay, Mrs Pettigrew, and I create our lessons hand-in-hand with our dancers—pushing the syllabus past its limits, flipping perspectives, and inspiring audiences to feel, think, and respond. We are building not just performers, but artists who use movement to question, provoke, and create. We embrace vulnerability both in our classes and on the stage.
A big thank you to Mr Stafford, our Head of Learning Area for keeping our beat steady, Miss Samantha Hibburt for guiding our Certificate in Dance stars, and our Dance Administrator, Mrs Alysha Marsden for making sure the show always goes on assisting with our communications.
And to our fabulous Year 12 Dancers —Class of 2025—you are our final encore in the Main Hall before the curtain rises on the brand-new Dance Centre. You have shown grit, grace, and an unstoppable Don’t Stop Me Now spirit that’s inspired our younger dancers.
So here’s to kicking into high gear, hitting that big finish, and proving that Dance is one of the best subjects you can do!
