This is an extra special term for us, with Boarders’ Week bang in the middle. We will be out and about and ready to celebrate our Boarding heritage and all those who make our lives in Boarding brighter. And, either side of this, we will embrace and enjoy the program of fun and fabulous activities that have been put together especially for you. So get excited, ready to participate and make the most out of the opportunities on offer!

WHY You know the drill! Meet in the Boarding House promptly at 3.25pm for instructions, with the drill commencing at 3.30pm. We will also talk about some of the risks involved with Boarding and how you can ensure your personal safety, as well as what support is available to each of you and how to best access it.

WHERE Textiles Room (JV04)
WHY The creator of the gorgeous laundry bags for our Year 7 Boarders, Mrs Myles is the master of all things textiles. This week she will share her talents with you in a textiles workshop where you will create a special, personalised gift for the special ‘mum’ in your life. We will organise some cards and paper so you can wrap and send the gift home ready for that special someone to enjoy on Mother’s Day.

WHY It’s been a while since we checked out the Super Netball, and tonight is going to be one of the biggest games of the season with the GWS Giants taking on the Sydney Swifts. Who will you be cheering for? Wear red to support the Swifts or orange for the Giants and get your vocal cords ready to cheer on these amazing athletes.

WHY It’s apple season and one of our fabulous Boarding families – the McLaughlins – are once again hosting the Boarders for some apple picking at Bilpin, followed by a picnic at Hillbilly Cider. Do you know your pink ladies from your granny smiths? If not, you will definitely learn! Grab some friends and join us as we head to the mountains.

WHY Back by popular demand, join us and some of our Boarding neighbours for a night of fun, dancing and celebration of all things Boarding. With a theme of ‘famous groups’, get ready for a burst of colour, fun and giggles. There will be prizes for the best-dressed group and plenty of opportunities to connect with old friends and make some new ones.
WHAT Community Weekend
WHEN From 5.00pm
WHY Community Days are special times in our Boarding calendar where all Boarders are required to be in attendance. For this special occasion, you need to be back at Boarding by 5.00pm on Saturday. You will then have time to prepare for a sumptuous dinner at 6.00pm followed by an evening of fun and dancing. Be ready to strut your stuff and win points for your House in the hotly contested Angus Cup Disco Divas competition.

WHY Today, we have a special treat: Chapel with the congregation from Pymble and Gordon Uniting Church joining us for a special service followed by a delicious brunch. Special thanks to our Boarding volunteers for showing our extended community around the College. A not-so-lazy Sunday afternoon will follow with the Sports Cup challenge between 2.00pm and 5.00pm. Which house will dominate the Benchball and Dodgeball competitions?

WHY Come along to check out all the animals and views at Taronga Zoo, one of the most spectacular zoos in the world. The seal show is always a favourite, plus make sure you also check out the brand-new native wildlife habitat. Nura Diya Australia will also feature 23 unique and iconic Australian species of animals. Stroll amongst kangaroos, come paw to paw with the dingo pups and walk within the tree canopy to see the koalas.

WHY The Indigenous Sports Round is a celebration of the role sport can play in the lives of all Australians, but particularly our First Nations peoples. The Welcome Ceremony will feature a smoking ceremony and a performance by our Indigenous Dance Troupe. Our Boarders, family and friends are most welcome to come along and support their sisters at the College.

WHY Last term we raised over $1,000 for the Balmoral Swim for Cancer as part of the Pymble Gives Back initiative. This term we are taking on the Balmoral Burn. Known as Sydney’s steepest hill run, this annual community fun run has raised over $31 million for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation. Every year, participants take to the ‘Burn’ to conquer Awaba Street’s 420-metre incline – one of the steepest streets in Sydney. Let’s hope the weather is on our side this time!

WHY Vivid is back, and we are so excited to take our Boarders to experience all it has to offer. Vivid Sydney is an annual celebration of creativity, innovation and technology which transforms Sydney for 23 days and nights. In 2023, for its 13th year, Vivid Sydney will fuse art, innovation and technology in collaboration with some of the most boundary-pushing artists, thinkers, musicians and culinary experts of our time, united by this year’s artistic direction, ‘Vivid Sydney, Naturally’
From 26 May to 17 June, the streets will transform with mesmerising art displays and 3D light projections, exhilarating live music performances, thought-provoking debates, and deep-dive discussions from some of the world’s brightest minds. And for the first time ever at Vivid Sydney, chefs, producers and more will collaborate for the launch of Vivid Food, a program of multisensory meals that celebrate Sydney’s rich and vibrant restaurants, food culture and local produce.

WHY The AFL is always spectacular, and this week will feature one of our favourite teams, the GWS Giants, taking on the Richmond Football Club in this mid-season match up. Get ready for some high impact action, plenty of cheering and spectacular marks. Will the Giants be able to make their mark on the Richmond Football club. Come along and find out for yourself!

WHAT Jersey Day - 30th Anniversary
WEAR Boarding jersey
WHY This year marks the 30th anniversary of the passing of three beautiful girls, and we will be remembering them and the legacy that they have left us with a special service. We remember the three Boarders who tragically passed away on the June Long Weekend in 1993. Alanda Clark, Jane Gay and Prudence Papworth were travelling home for the long weekend when the plane they were in crashed on a hill just outside Young, killing all on board. We invite all students and staff to commemorate these special girls by wearing a jersey and bringing a gold coin donation. All funds raised will go towards The Alanda Clark, Jane Gay and Prudence Papworth Scholarship.

WHY It’s home time! Enjoy being snuggled up in your own bed over the long weekend - we will be ready and waiting for you from 5.00pm on Monday 13 June. Have you thought about inviting a day girl or another Boarder to join you for the weekend? This year we are hoping that our rural families will look to host some other Boarders and day girls for the weekend. It’s always great to see our Boarders getting the opportunity to share their homes and regions with their friends.

If you have an exciting activity in mind, get together with a group of friends and put together a proposal. Whether it’s a night out at a favourite restaurant, a trip to a local market or an inner-city expedition, get your ideas down on paper, suggest a date and we will do our best to make it happen.
We would love you to invite a friend from the Day School to stay over on a Friday or Saturday night. Propose some dates to your Head of Year and make it happen!

Come on in and bake until you drop! We are all stocked up ready for you to create your masterpieces.
All of you seem to love baking and we know you LOVE yummy food. Take the opportunity to work with Mrs Wiedemann in our specialist Food Technology room and bake until your heart is content and your tummy is full. Each week she comes with interesting new recipes, from Mars bar slice and brownies to Wallget’s famous Weet-Bix slice. Boarders Get Baking is the place to be on Friday afternoons.
