If you're a business owner like me, there's a good chance you identify as a perfectionist (or even someone with perfectionist tendencies). As a recovering perfectionist myself, I can't say I have all the answers. But over the years (and through a LOT of therapy), I've picked up some strategies that have helped me let go and see the beauty in imperfect action. In this article, you'll learn what perfectionism is and why it can be so harmful when it rears its ugly head. Plus, I'm including tips from my own experiences in therapy to help you start to challenge and eventually break free from perfectionism.
Letting go of perfectionism isn't easy, but if you want to make strides in your business, it's important to realize that perfectionism could be holding you back from reaching your potential.
Ready to shake o perfectionism's hold on you? Let's dive in!
What is Perfectionism?
Many people mistake perfectionism for striving for excellence or wanting to improve themselves. But perfectionism takes it so much further than that.
Perfectionism involves holding yourself (and sometimes the people around you) to unrealistically high standards. e standards you set are so high that no human could possibly reach them, so you end up feeling inadequate no matter how many amazing things you accomplish.
People with perfectionism believe they should never make mistakes and are very hard on themselves if they do.
Here's a personal example. When I worked as a clinical dietitian, I had this overwhelming fear that I wouldn't use up the allotted appointment time or that I would accidentally give the patient incorrect information. When those two things inevitably happened, I went into such a deep shame spiral that I couldn't function for the rest of the day. In that case, my perfectionism actually made me worse at my job because I spiralled so far down that I had to leave work (side note: I also have severe generalized anxiety disorder, which complicated matters signi cantly).
e point I'm trying to make is that when you're a perfectionist, you feel the need to be perfect all the time. When you don't live up to your impossibly high standards (which happens often, since you set your standards far higher than they need to be), you're stressed that you haven't measured up. It's exhausting, and it's a vicious cycle that can be hard to break free from.
Overcoming Perfectionism
If you're desperately wondering how to let go of perfectionism, I feel you. I've spent countless sessions working on this with multiple
di erent therapists, and it's still a challenge for me. Here are some steps I've learned to take to identify and combat perfectionism in my life. I hope some of these suggestions will help you in your own journey of breaking free from perfectionism.
1. Learn to recognize perfectionism
Look. You can't change a behaviour until you accept that it's negatively a ecting either your business or your personal life. While there's nothing wrong with having high standards, setting standards that are unrealistic can severely impact your quality of life.
Start by being honest with yourself. Do you often have trouble meeting your own standards? Are you often frustrated, depressed, or angry when you try to meet those standards? Do your high standards disrupt your life? If you answered 'yes' to any of those questions, you may be struggling with perfectionism.
2. Change perfectionistic thinking
One of the best ways to overcome perfectionism is to replace perfectionistic thinking with more helpful thoughts.
Realistic thinking: Instead of saying "I'm so stupid, I can't believe I made that mistake," try reframing the thought to something like "Making a mistake does not mean I'm stupid or a failure. Everyone makes mistakes." With time, these reframes will start to sink in and become the more natural response to bumps in the road.
Perspective taking: Another way to challenge perfectionistic thoughts is by looking at the situation as an outsider would. Are there any other ways of looking at the situation? What might you tell a close friend who was having similar thoughts?
Look at the big picture: Perfectionists often get lost in the details and spend too much time worrying about the little things. Ask yourself if it really matters. If the worst were to happen, would you survive it? Will it still matter in 6 months?
Compromise: is involves setting more realistic goals or being more exible with your high standards. Ask yourself what level of imperfection you're willing to tolerate.
Exposing yourself to imperfections or mistakes is the key to changing perfectionistic behaviours. Speaking from personal experience, this can be an extremely confronting process, and I'd highly recommend working with a therapist as you navigate this process (this kind of exposure therapy brought up a lot of uncomfortable feelings for me, and I was grateful to have someone to help me process them).
Here are some ideas for exposure practice that my therapist had me try:
• Show up for a non-critical appointment 5 minutes late.
• Wear a piece of clothing that has a visible stain on it.
• Send an email that includes a few typos.
• Leave a visible area in the house a little messy.
You will need to practice the exposure you choose several times before it starts to feel less anxiety-inducing. Learning how to let go of perfectionism isn't easy. Again, I cannot emphasize enough how game-changing it can be to work with a therapist as you navigate this process.
If you've been wondering how to let go of perfectionism, you're not alone. As someone who struggles with perfectionism, I know all too well how hard it is to learn how to let your perfectionism go.
I'll leave you with some a rmations and journal prompts that you can use on your own journey to letting go of perfectionism.
A rmations for perfectionism:
• My achievements don't de ne my worth.
• Mistakes are opportunities for growth.
• Excellence and perfection are two di erent things.
• People will love me even when I'm not perfect.
• I will not let perfectionism stop me from trying new things.
Journal prompts for perfectionism:
• How would my life be better if I was less perfectionistic?
• How can I respond the the demands and expectations of my inner perfectionist?
• What do you think perfectionism is trying to protect you from?
• How can you enjoy the process or experience rather than focusing solely on the outcome?
• What would you tell your inner perfectionist if you could have a conversation?
Here's to progress, not perfection!

Starting a business is one of the most exciting and rewarding ventures you can embark upon. However, success doesn’t happen by chance—it requires careful planning, strategic decision-making, and a strong foundation. Many entrepreneurs dive in fueled by passion but overlook critical steps that can make or break their venture.
From crafting a solid business plan to se ing up financial systems and hiring the right team, ensuring you start your business correctly from the beginning is essential for long-term growth and profitability. Here’s how to lay the groundwork for a thriving, sustainable business.
1 2
e Business Plan: Your Roadmap to Success
Every successful business starts with a well-thought-out business plan. is document is more than just a tool for securing funding—it’s a blueprint that guides your decisions and keeps you focused. A strong business plan should include:
• A Clear Vision and Mission Statement – What problem does your business solve? What is your unique value proposition?
• Market Research and Competitive Analysis – Who are your competitors, and how will you di erentiate yourself?
• Business Structure and Strategy – Will you operate as a sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation?
• Financial Projections and Budgeting – What are your expected costs, revenues, and pro t margins?
• Marketing and Sales Strategy – How will you attract and retain customers?
Without a business plan, you’re essentially navigating without a map. Taking the time to create one ensures that you have a strategic direction and can adapt to challenges as they arise.
To Incorporate or Not to Incorporate?
One of the most important legal decisions you’ll make when starting your business is choosing the right structure. Each option has its own bene ts and drawbacks:
3
• Sole Proprietorship – Simple and cost-e ective, but exposes you to personal liability.
• Partnership – Ideal for businesses with multiple owners, but partners share liability.
• Corporation – O ers liability protection and potential tax advantages, but comes with more regulatory requirements.
• Limited Liability Company (LLC) – A hybrid between a corporation and a sole proprietorship, o ering liability protection without the complexity of a full corporation.
If you plan to scale your business, incorporating may be the right choice, as it provides legal and nancial protection. Consulting with a legal expert or business advisor can help you determine the best structure for your goals.
No business can succeed without the right people. Hiring the right team from the start can be the di erence between thriving and barely surviving. Key factors to consider include:
• Skillset and Experience – Hire employees or contractors who bring the expertise you need.
• Cultural Fit – Your team should align with your company’s mission, values, and vision.
• Attitude and Work Ethic – Skills can be taught, but the right attitude is invaluable.
Many startups make the mistake of hiring friends or family without considering whether they are truly the right t. Instead, focus on building a team that complements your strengths and supports your business objectives.
4
One of the biggest reasons businesses fail is poor nancial management. Failing to set up nancial systems early on can lead to tax issues, cash ow problems, and nancial instability.
Bookkeeping:
Tracking nancial transactions, including income, expenses, and payroll, is crucial. Key steps include:
• Choosing accounting software like QuickBooks, Xero, or FreshBooks to automate processes.
• Keeping detailed records to simplify tax reporting.
• Separating personal and business nances by opening a dedicated business bank account.
An accountant is more than just a tax preparer—they are a strategic partner in your business’s nancial health. A good accountant will:
• Help with tax planning and compliance to avoid costly mistakes.
• O er insights into cost-saving strategies and nancial forecasting.
• Guide you in making informed growth and investment decisions.
By setting up these nancial systems correctly from the beginning, you can avoid costly mistakes and ensure your business remains nancially healthy.
Ignoring legal and compliance requirements can lead to nes, lawsuits, or even business closure. To avoid potential legal pitfalls:
• Register Your Business – Ensure your business name is legally registered.
• Obtain Necessary Licenses and Permits – Di erent industries have di erent requirements.
• Protect Your Intellectual Property – Trademark your business name and products if applicable.
• Create Contracts and Agreements – Have solid contracts for employees, vendors, and partners.
Consulting a business lawyer can help you understand the legal obligations speci c to your industry and location.
Even the best business ideas can fail if no one knows about them. A strong brand and marketing strategy are crucial for attracting customers and generating revenue. Steps to take include:
• Creating a Strong Brand Identity – A professional logo, website, and social media presence.
• Developing a Marketing Strategy – SEO, social media marketing, email campaigns, and paid advertising.
• Networking and Partnerships – Building relationships with other businesses and in uencers in your industry.
Starting with a clear marketing plan will ensure that your business gets noticed from day one.
Starting a business the right way sets you up for long-term success. From developing a solid business plan and choosing the right legal structure to hiring a strong team and establishing sound nancial systems, every step you take in the beginning will impact your future growth. Cutting corners might save time and money in the short term, but it often leads to costly mistakes down the road.
By laying a strong foundation, you not only increase your chances of survival but also create a business that thrives, scales, and remains nancially and legally secure. Invest in doing things the right way from day one, and you’ll be well on your way to building a successful and sustainable business.

In the world of business, success is often determined by more than just skills, knowledge, and experience. One of the most underrated but powerful tools for achieving business success is simply showing up and presenting yourself professionally. Whether you are an entrepreneur, an executive, or an employee climbing the corporate ladder, how you present yourself—both physically and mentally—can make a significant impact on your professional reputation, relationships, and opportunities.
e saying, "You never get a second chance to make a rst impression," holds true in business. Within the rst few seconds of meeting someone, judgments are formed based on appearance, demeanor, and con dence. ese judgments can determine whether someone trusts you, respects you, or sees potential in working with you.
Professional attire, good grooming, and a con dent demeanor convey credibility and competence. A well-dressed individual exudes self-respect and discipline, which in turn fosters trust and con dence from clients, colleagues, and business partners. Whether it's a job interview, a sales pitch, or a networking event, dressing appropriately and maintaining a polished appearance can signi cantly in uence how you are perceived.
Your personal brand is a combination of how you present yourself, your values, and how others perceive you. Consistently showing up professionally helps reinforce your brand as someone who is reliable, competent, and serious about their work.
When you walk into a meeting, whether in-person or virtual, looking polished and prepared, you send a clear message: you are there to contribute value. is consistency helps build a strong reputation, making you the go-to person for opportunities, promotions, or collaborations.
Your brand is not just about clothing; it extends to communication, punctuality, and how you carry yourself. Speaking with con dence, maintaining eye contact, and actively listening are all key elements of professionalism.
What you wear not only a ects how others perceive you, but it also in uences how you feel about yourself. Studies have shown that dressing professionally boosts con dence, enhances cognitive function, and increases performance. is phenomenon, known as "enclothed cognition," suggests that the clothes we wear can a ect our psychological processes.
For example, wearing a well- tted suit can make an individual feel more authoritative, competent, and ready to tackle challenges. Even in remote work settings, professionals who dress in business attire for video meetings often report feeling more engaged and productive compared to those in casual clothes.
In business, credibility is currency. When people see that you take your appearance and presence seriously, they are more likely to believe you take your work seriously as well. Consistency in professionalism builds trust, and trust is the foundation of lasting business relationships.
Imagine attending a high-stakes meeting where one party arrives dressed in a well-tailored suit, carrying a polished portfolio, and speaking with clarity and purpose. e other party shows up late, wearing wrinkled clothes and appearing distracted. Who would you trust to handle a major project or investment?
Looking professional doesn’t mean wearing a three-piece suit every day; it means dressing appropriately for the occasion and industry while maintaining a neat and polished appearance.
Networking is an essential part of business growth. Whether at conferences, meetings, or informal gatherings, presenting yourself professionally opens doors to new opportunities. People naturally gravitate toward those who exude con dence and competence. If you appear unkempt or disengaged, you might be overlooked in favor of someone who takes the time to present themselves professionally.
A strong professional presence also helps with public speaking, sales pitches, and investor meetings. Your ability to make an impression can determine whether someone wants to work with you, invest in your ideas, or recommend you to their network. Remote Work and Virtual Professionalism
e rise of remote work has changed the way we think about professionalism, but it hasn’t diminished its importance. While working from home o ers more exibility, maintaining a professional appearance in virtual meetings is still crucial.
Simple steps such as dressing appropriately for video calls, using
good lighting, maintaining a clean background, and being punctual demonstrate respect for others and the work being done. A polished virtual presence ensures that you are taken seriously and considered for leadership opportunities, regardless of location.
Professionalism is a habit that compounds over time. e more consistently you show up prepared, polished, and present, the more credibility you build in your industry. Over time, this credibility leads to increased in uence, better job opportunities, stronger relationships, and greater nancial success.
Many of the world’s top business leaders understand the importance of showing up professionally. ey invest in their appearance, communication skills, and presence because they know that perception plays a critical role in business success.
Success in business isn’t just about what you know—it’s about how you present yourself. Showing up consistently and professionally demonstrates respect for yourself, your work, and those around you. It sets you apart from the competition, builds trust, and enhances your ability to seize new opportunities.
Regardless of your industry, making professionalism a priority will pay o in the long run. So, the next time you have a meeting, an event, or even a virtual call, ask yourself: "Am I showing up as the best version of myself?" Because in business, how you show up can be the key to unlocking doors you never imagined possible.

What is the true role of a personal trainer? You likely have a general idea—they are experts in exercise focusing on techniques, form, movement pa erns, custom program design, corrective exercises, and personalized workout plans. Additionally, they often excel in body transformations, managing body composition, and offering nutritional support. However, what you may not know is one of the most significant aspects of their job which involves coaching clients on lifestyle adjustments beyond the gym, emphasizing the development of behavioural changes.
Drawing a clients in to a tness lifestyle is a critical, yet challenging responsibility for tness trainers. is task transcends routine workouts by also encompassing the nurturing of a mindset that embraces tness as a lifestyle. Building a trusting relationship is pivotal, as a trainer needs to symbolize positive transformation for their clients. Trust can be established through shared personal and client success stories, or anecdotes of overcoming similar struggles. e dynamics between trainer and client heavily in uence the client’s willingness to embrace change, making it essential for trainers to bolster motivation using various techniques such as incentives, visualization, a rmations, and boosting selfbelief.
By establishing clear goals with clients and breaking these down into manageable tasks, trainers help clients visualize success and attain con dence, self-e cacy and adopt an optimistic mindset through achieving these smaller milestones. is instills a sense of accomplishment and fosters a belief in reaching larger objectives. Adversities such as personal setbacks, uctuating energy levels, nancial strains, or unrealistic expectations can disrupt progress, necessitating continuous encouragement and a reminder of the bene ts of a tness lifestyle.
Trainers need to monitor clients' disposition throughout their journey and address any disconnect or unrealistic expectations. Empowering clients
through support systems, educational resources, feedback, and holistic lifestyle coaching in the time not spent on training is crucial. is includes areas like nutrition, hydration, meditation, movement, corrective exercises, stretching, and sleep.
Failing to successfully draw a client into a tness lifestyle can lead to them abandoning the endeavour altogether, ultimately impacting their health and self-esteem negatively. Commitment strategies can aid clients in forming better decision-making habits and remaining aligned with their long-term goals. ese strategies help clients manage their actions, stop impulsivity, and maintain focus on the bene cial long-term self over short-term desires.
Additionally, the Experience Sampling Method (ESM) can be employed to assess clients' emotions, thoughts, and behaviours in natural settings. is method identi es how situations trigger moods and behaviours, assessing changes through reductions in undesirable actions, increases in favourable ones, and enhanced attitudes towards change.
e relationship between a trainer and client is incredibly important, and might even be the
strongest indicator of whether the client will elicit changed behaviour. Trainers can help clients boost their motivation by using incentives, teaching visualization techniques and a rmations, and most importantly, getting them to believe in themselves.

Running a business is a thrilling journey, filled with opportunities, challenges, and the constant drive to grow. Whether you own a cleaning company, a restaurant, a retail store, or a servicebased business, the path to success is rarely a straight line. The most successful entrepreneurs will tell you that they didn’t do it alone. They had a mentor, a guide, or—most effectively—a business coach.
Business coaches aren’t just for Fortune 500 CEOs or high-pro le entrepreneurs. ey are for every business owner looking to scale, improve e ciency, and create a sustainable, pro table enterprise. A business coach provides the guidance, accountability, and strategic insight necessary to help entrepreneurs avoid costly mistakes and unlock their full potential.
In the cleaning industry, for example, business owners often start with a passion for excellent service but may struggle with operations, marketing,
team management, or pricing. at’s where a coach becomes invaluable. e same principle applies to any industry. Whether you’re just starting out or aiming to take your business to the next level, a coach can help you navigate through challenges and set you on a path to long-term success.
One of the biggest advantages of working with a business coach is gaining an outside perspective. When you’re immersed in your daily operations, it’s easy to miss the blind spots that could be holding
you back. A coach brings years of experience, insights from working with other businesses, and a fresh pair of eyes to analyze what’s working and what needs improvement.
For instance, many business owners struggle with pricing their services. ey may charge too little due to fear of losing clients or undervalue their expertise. A business coach helps identify pricing strategies that re ect the true value of the service while ensuring pro tability.
One of the key bene ts of having a coach is accountability. It’s easy to set ambitious goals, but following through can be challenging without someone holding you accountable. A business coach keeps you on track, ensuring that you take consistent action toward your objectives.
Imagine setting a goal to expand your cleaning business by securing ve new commercial contracts in six months. Without a coach, you might get distracted by daily operations or doubt your approach. A business coach helps break down the goal into actionable steps, provides the motivation to keep going, and helps adjust strategies as needed to stay on track.
Every business experiences plateaus—those frustrating periods where growth seems stagnant despite hard work. is is where many entrepreneurs get discouraged, feeling like they’ve hit an invisible ceiling.
A business coach helps identify the roadblocks causing the stagnation. It could be ine cient processes, a lack of delegation, poor marketing strategies, or failure to leverage technology. With expert guidance, business owners can overcome these obstacles and reignite growth. For example, a cleaning business owner struggling to expand might be doing everything themselves—
scheduling appointments, handling customer complaints, managing supplies, and cleaning. A business coach could help implement systems, automate scheduling, and build a team that allows the owner to focus on scaling the business instead of being trapped in day-to-day tasks.
Challenges are inevitable in business—economic downturns, sta ng issues, client retention problems, and industry disruptions. Without the right support, these challenges can feel overwhelming. A business coach acts as a trusted advisor, helping entrepreneurs navigate tough situations with clarity and con dence.
Consider a business that suddenly loses a major client. Instead of panicking, a business coach helps the owner analyze why it happened, learn from the experience, and create a plan to diversify client acquisition e orts so that losing one client doesn’t jeopardize the business’s survival.
Many business owners work hard but lack a clear long-term strategy. ey may focus on surviving each day rather than planning for sustainable growth. A business coach helps shift this mindset by guiding owners in setting clear goals, developing a roadmap to achieve them, and measuring progress e ectively.
For example, a cleaning business owner might want to expand into new territories but isn’t sure where to start. A coach can help analyze market demand, create a step-by-step expansion plan, and develop marketing strategies to attract new clients while maintaining service quality.
One of the most overlooked aspects of business growth is team development. A business cannot
scale e ectively if the owner is doing everything. Hiring, training, and retaining great employees is crucial, yet many business owners struggle in this area.
A business coach helps re ne hiring processes, improve leadership skills, and build a company culture that attracts and retains top talent. For a cleaning company, this could mean training employees on customer service, creating incentives for high performance, and developing leadership within the team so that the business can function smoothly without the owner’s constant involvement.
Pro tability isn’t just about increasing revenue—it’s also about optimizing operations to reduce unnecessary costs and improve e ciency. Many businesses operate ine ciently without realizing how much money they’re leaving on the table.
A business coach identi es ine ciencies and suggests improvements that can signi cantly impact the bottom line. For example, in the cleaning industry, a coach might help streamline scheduling, negotiate better supply costs, or introduce time-saving technologies that allow teams to complete more jobs in less time.
Many business owners hesitate to invest in coaching, thinking they can gure everything out on their own.
However, the reality is that struggling through trial and error can be costly—both in terms of time and money.
Successful entrepreneurs understand that investing in coaching is an investment in their own growth and their business’s future. A coach provides the tools, knowledge, and support needed to achieve goals faster, avoid common pitfalls, and build a business that thrives long-term.
e truth is, every business can bene t from coaching— whether it’s a cleaning company, a tech startup, a restaurant, or a retail brand. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about how to scale, a business coach can be the key to unlocking your next level of success.
Business coaching isn’t just for those who are struggling—it’s for ambitious entrepreneurs who want to maximize their potential, accelerate growth, and build a business that supports the life they envision. e best investment any business owner can make isn’t just in marketing, equipment, or hiring—it’s in themselves and their ability to lead their company to greatness.
So, if you’re serious about taking your business to the next level, the question isn’t whether you can a ord a business coach—the real question is, can you a ord not to have one.
Founder, Blair Kaplan Communications
Blair, you founded Blair Kaplan Communications at just 23 during the beginning of a recession. What motivated you to take such a bold step at that time, and how did you navigate the challenges?
I love this question. I was working for a large organization with hopes of moving up into the public relations department, but at the time, that transition seemed impossible. I was ready to dive into the world of public relations, so I started my own company and quit my job. I knew what I was doing in my eld of expertise, but I had never run a business, so I did a lot of learning as I went. Over time, I built systems and processes that worked for my clients and me. I learned a lot of lessons the hard way, but it was a great adventure.
Can you share some memorable experiences from your summer in Greece? How did those early adventures shape your approach to life and business?
Oh gosh, that was so long ago. At the time, cell phones weren’t very big; we still used pay phones and calling cards to call home and to send emails. We went to an Internet café. I think the sense of freedom of being on the opposite side of the world and living my best life. I worked in hospitality and spent a lot of time at the beach with my best friend. It was special to meet people from all over the world because learning about their lives in uenced who I became as an adult.
Your friends introduced you to Facebook early on. How did you recognize the potential of social media for marketing before it became mainstream?
4 5
I knew of, social media marketing wasn’t a profession, and there was no one to learn from. So, I took what I knew about Public Relations and applied it to the social media space. As new social media platforms emerge, I would learn how to t it into my o erings and then teach workshops on those platforms. I built systems that I still use today to create Social Media Empowerment Plans that help thought leaders become recognized industry experts. In short, people wanted something that didn’t exist, so I created what they wanted.
You started not one, but two companies simultaneously in Vancouver. What were some key lessons you learned from balancing these ventures, and how did they contribute to your professional growth?
Having more than one company at a time is very hard because it splits your focus. e more focused you are, the better the results will be. I started my second company, a health and wellness coupon company because I wanted free yoga. Becuase of this company, I was at a lot of networking events, which led to many business meetings and conversations about how I started my PR company and coupon company. is helped me to establish a reputation early in my career. My advice is that you should pay for yoga and to not start a coupon company.
e Global Resilience Project is a signi cant part of your work. Can you tell us more about its mission and what inspired you to create it?
It wasn’t until I started my PR company that I understood the potential of social media. Being a vintage millennial, I was often one of the youngest in the room at business events. I often got asked, “Do you know how to use Facebook for marketing/PR?” And I always said yes. ere weren’t any social media experts
e Global Resilience Project is a social enterprise and community where stories of resilience are shared to help you overcome life’s most di cult challenges.
e Global Resilience Project curates stories of resilience from around the world. We share these stories in our published books, the Radical Resilience Podcast, on social media, our website, and at live events. 2 1 3
Sharing can be cathartic and healing. Listening to and learning about other people's journeys can be inspiring and motivational.Everyone deserves to tell their story, and that is why we exist.
We de ne “resilience” as the ability to bounce forward from life’s most challenging experiences.
We all have the ability to be resilient. We all have a resilience muscle, and we must continuously strengthen it so that when we need to, we can activate it. Life can be hard but know that you are not alone and will get through the dark times.
e community started because I started to share the story of me and my father once we learned of his terminal illness in 2018. Our story of his addiction to drugs, my forgiveness of him and our resilience was inspiring others to x relationships in their lives, choose sobriety, work with therapists and share their stories with me. We decided to write a book and collect stories of resilience from around the world. We would start the book with my dad’s story and end it with mine. e goal was to have a book that inspired people once my father was no longer with us. Shortly after launching the Project, I navigated a lot of trauma and loss - my husband almost died, we su ered a miscarriage, my father-in-law died a few weeks later, my mother died a few months later, and my dad died the same year as my mom. While this was happening, the book project turned into a global movement. I found a lot of healing in creating a community and space for people to share their stories.
Networking played a crucial role in your early career. What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs about the importance of building a strong professional network?

As someone who applied Public Relations knowledge to social media marketing, how do you see the relationship between these two elds evolving in the future?
Social media is a public relations tool. It’s a place to build trust. Public relations is evolving, and customers are becoming more skeptical. We need to build relationships and invite people to get to know us. Social media is a brilliant place to do that.
You mentioned that you were a 'serial entrepreneur'. What other ventures or projects are you currently involved in, and what drives your passion for entrepreneurship?
e Global Resilience Project is my main focus right now. We are working on our next books: RESILIENT A.F.: Stories of Resilience Volume 2, which comes out in January 2025, and we are working on Volume 3, which will be out in January 2026 and RESILIENT A.F: Skin-deep Stories. With Blair Kaplan Communications, my focus is o ering Social Media Empowerment Plans, 30-day Intensives and one on one (private) coaching.
Looking back on your career so far, what would you say has been the most rewarding aspect of your journey, and what are your aspirations for the future?
e most rewarding part of my career so far is receiving the gratitude and feedback from coauthors that what I have created is helping them heal and opening doors for them. Knowing that I can turn my pain into purpose is what fuels my passion. For now, we will keep publishing books, and I will keep helping people strengthen their resilience muscles from stages around the world. I will also focus on regulating my nervous systemwhich is my most important goal. 6

Yes, our business is committed to giving back to the community to the best of our abilities. We o er free programs and provide complimentary strategy sessions to support cleaning business owners, especially those who may be starting with limited resources.
However, it's important to note that we've encountered situations where the recipients of free services may not fully value or appreciate them. is observation has led us to recognize that, in some cases, the most e ective way to motivate a business owner is to challenge them and make them uncomfortable. is approach can serve as a catalyst for change, as it did in my own journey when I sought help and was willing to step out of my comfort zone to grow and succeed.
Ultimately, our commitment to giving back to the community remains strong, even as we navigate the complexities of ensuring that our support is truly valued and transformative for those we aim to help.

Jonica van Rikxoort, aka Jonxy Richy on social platforms, a dedicated literary curator, is passionately working to preserve and share the stories of her mother, Teri Baker. Baker is renowned for her children's book, "What If Bunny Poo Was Square?", a delightful tale that imparts lessons on responsibility and the challenges of pet ownership. Jonxy is excited to further showcase this book with the introduction of a Marcie crocheted doll, which she plans to promote soon, ideally in time for the Easter season. However, this book is not just for Easter—it carries an important message year-round, especially for families considering pets as gifts without fully understanding the responsibility involved.
While Jonxy does not see herself as a writer, her life's purpose has become clear: to bring her mother’s stories and poems to the world so they can be enjoyed by everyone. Teri Baker, a true "Poetical Artist," had a gift for crafting words so vividly that they painted pictures in the imagination, bringing her stories to life in a way that felt magical.
Beyond "What If Bunny Poo Was Square?", Baker wrote many other whimsical and enchanting tales, each lled with her signature creative storytelling. Jonxy now nds herself in her loft, surrounded by her mother’s vast collection of stories and poems, scratching her head and wondering how to honor such an incredible legacy. e weight of preserving and sharing these works is a tremendous responsibility, but one she embraces wholeheartedly, determined to give her mother’s words the audience they deserve.
Jonxy’s journey is not about writing her own stories—she is dedicated to preserving and sharing her mother’s colorful and imaginative tales, ensuring they continue to captivate and inspire readers for generations to come.
Jonxy shares, "I'm not the writer... I'm the one behind the scenes!" She is currently nishing o two more
books from the trilogy—' e Pooper Scooper' and 'Nanny Fran McGuire.' She stepped up as the creative director, editor, and nisher of "What If Bunny Poo Was Square?" because her mother was dying. "She couldn't think straight anymore! She was dealing with a lot! So I had to step in! No choice!" With each step she takes, she brings her mother’s legacy to life, proving that true artistry is not just in the creation of stories but in their preservation and sharing.

Having spent nearly six years in the financial industry, I’ve always believed that true wealth begins with well-being. While I focus on building financial security and generational wealth for my clients, I also emphasize the importance of health—because what good is wealth without the vitality to enjoy it?
In finance, I teach what I consider the "Holy Grail" of financial strategy: the ability to become your own banker through Infinite Banking. Once a well-kept secret of the top 1%, this concept remains unknown to many yet holds the power to transform financial futures.
Recently, I discovered what I believe to be both the “Fountain of Youth” and the "Holy Grail" of healing—a revolutionary breakthrough in stem cell activation technology . Just as Infinite Banking revolutionizes financial independence, this cutting-edge wellness innovation unlocks the body’s natural ability to self-heal and regenerate. Unlike traditional stem cell therapy, it is non-
invasive, ethical, and affordable. Backed by science and patented technology, its results are not a matter of if but when . While each person’s journey to homeostasis varies, my own family experienced transformative changes within days.
Ironically, I first learned about this breakthrough from a fellow Financial Advisor. The connection between finance and wellness was so profound that I felt compelled to become an ambassador for both. My entrepreneurial spirit thrives on making an impact in two critical areas of life— finances and health.
True entrepreneurs understand that ultimate
control over one’s life requires vision, resilience, adaptability, discipline , and a willingness to take calculated risks.
• Vision allows us to see opportunities where others see obstacles.
• Resilience keeps us moving forward despite setbacks.
• Adaptability ensures we evolve with changing circumstances.
• Discipline fosters consistency in our efforts.
• The courage to take risks —without fear of failure—propels us toward growth and innovation.
We live in a world where many feel powerless, but I am passionate about helping people reclaim control—not just over their financial future , but also over their health and overall well-being . Finding solutions to life’s greatest challenges is my purpose, and I am determined to bring these transformative opportunities to investors, business owners, and families alike.
This journey led me to leave behind a thriving financial practice and start anew as an Independent Advisor and Wealth Strategist . Having discovered an alternative solution to wealth-building for both my family and my clients, I have never felt more fulfilled. Through the grace of my Creator, I live in abundance in all aspects of life. Each moment is a blessing, and I
am immensely grateful to be led by Him on this path. ( Philippians 4:13 )
If you’re ready to take control of your financial future and unlock your body’s natural potential for healing, I invite you to connect with me. Whether you're an investor, business owner, or simply seeking more freedom in your life, let’s build wealth, vitality, and true independence together.

How many times have you caught yourself saying these words?
"I don’t have enough money."
"I’m too old."
"Not enough time."
"I could never do that."
"I’m not smart enough."
Excuses, excuses, excuses.
The reality is, we’ve all been there. We’ve all allowed these invisible walls of doubt and fear to dictate our lives. But have you ever stopped to wonder— What if these excuses are not truths, but simply stories we've told ourselves for so long that we’ve come to believe them?
What if, instead of letting these self-imposed limits define us, we chose to rewrite the story?
We live in a world of polarity—where every situation has an opposite, and what we experience
depends on where we place our focus. If we focus on fear, doubt, and our perceived limitations, that’s exactly what we will attract into our lives. But if we shift our focus to our possibilities, to the opportunities for growth and change that are available to us, we can begin to live a life that is beyond what we once imagined.
Too often, we find ourselves trapped in lives filled with stress, doubt, and exhaustion—because this is what we've become accustomed to. We get comfortable in our struggles and start to view
them as part of our identity. We’ve become so used to living with excuses that we forget we have the power to break free from them. But here’s the truth: You have the ability to choose . You have the power to step into your fullest potential and embrace a life of abundance, health, and vitality. And it all starts with one simple, yet profound shift: prioritizing your wellness.
Wellness isn’t just about eating well or going to the gym—it's about the balance of mind, body, and spirit. When you make wellness your top priority, you are committing to a life of holistic growth and vitality. Here are some key reasons why prioritizing wellness is the key to living a life of possibility:
When your body is well-cared for, everything else in your life becomes easier. You have more energy, more focus, and the strength to tackle challenges head-on. Wellness isn’t just about looking good; it’s about feeling good, from the inside out. Imagine waking up every day with the energy to take on whatever comes your way, without feeling drained or overwhelmed.
Wellness extends beyond the physical—it nurtures your mind and emotions. When
you prioritize mental wellness, you’re better equipped to manage stress, make decisions, and cultivate a positive mindset. Your thoughts shape your reality. By nourishing your mind with positive habits and selfcare practices, you create space for clarity and calmness in the face of life’s challenges. Emotional balance leads to greater resilience and allows you to respond to life, rather than react from fear or frustration.
Life is full of obstacles, but when you prioritize your wellness, you build resilience. Physical and mental health together give you the strength to face life’s storms. You don’t just survive—you thrive. You become more adaptable, more confident, and more capable of weathering whatever challenges come your way.
When you prioritize wellness, you are actively showing yourself love and respect. You are choosing to honour your body, mind, and spirit. Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s essential. Taking the time to care for yourself sets the standard for how others will treat you and how you’ll treat yourself. You teach yourself that you are worth the time and effort, and this mindset spills over into every area of your life.
When your wellness is in alignment, you open
the door to endless possibilities. You begin to feel more alive, more in tune with your purpose, and more connected to your potential. The clearer you are in body and mind, the more space you create for your dreams to manifest. No longer do you feel limited by excuses. You begin to trust in the process and in your own abilities.
Prioritizing wellness is not just about the here and now. It’s about investing in your future. When you focus on your physical health, mental wellbeing, and emotional balance, you are not only enhancing the present moment—you are setting the foundation for a longer, healthier, and more fulfilling life. You’ll have the vitality to pursue your passions, create meaningful relationships, and live with purpose well into the future.
This is where the XQ-SLESS WELLNESS SUPPORT TRIBE comes into play. We understand that in today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos and put your wellness on the back burner. The XQ-SLESS movement isn’t just about removing excuses; it’s about creating a support system where your wellness journey becomes a daily, achievable reality. We support each other through every challenge, celebrate every success, and encourage each other to stay focused on what’s possible. Together, we are stronger. Sustainability has evolved from a trend into a business necessity. Today’s consumers, particularly in the beauty industry, are making more intentional purchasing decisions, prioritizing environmentally responsible brands that consider product ingredients, packaging, and overall impact on the planet.
While the clean beauty movement has made great strides in addressing toxic ingredients, packaging waste remains a signi cant issue. According to Forbes, data from Zero Waste Week revealed that in 2018 alone, the global beauty industry produced more than 120 billion units of packaging, with the majority ending up in land lls and oceans. is staggering number highlights the urgent need for companies to rethink their approach to sustainability.
Sustainability: e Future of Beauty and Business
Forward-thinking companies understand that sustainability isn’t just an ethical responsibility—it’s a competitive advantage. Consumers are increasingly seeking brands that integrate eco-conscious solutions into their business models, and those that fail to adapt risk being left behind.
One of the most e ective ways businesses can drive change is through sustainable packaging innovation. Advances in post-consumer kraft cardstock, vegetable-based inks, and biodegradable materials have provided alternatives that reduce waste while maintaining product integrity. Some companies have successfully transitioned to packaging that is 100% recyclable, fully biodegradable, and designed for reuse, o ering consumers eco-friendly choices without compromising on quality or aesthetics. A recent example of this shift can be seen in the evolution of sustainable compacts. While many brands have adopted more earth-friendly materials, the industry continues to
innovate—introducing elevated packaging designs that combine sustainability with a re ned, modern look.
For entrepreneurs and business leaders, the takeaway is clear: Sustainability isn’t optional—it’s essential for longterm success. Consumers are voting with their wallets, choosing companies that align with their values. ose who embrace eco-friendly practices and drive meaningful change will not only contribute to a healthier planet but also secure greater brand loyalty and industry leadership.
e future of business belongs to those who prioritize both pro tability and responsibility—because investing in a sustainable planet is an investment in a sustainable business.

You’ve done the work. You’ve followed the strategies. You’ve invested in courses, hired coaches, and ticked all the business growth boxes. And yet… something still isn’t clicking. Maybe it’s the creeping self-doubt that whispers, Who am I to do this? Or the overthinking that has you stuck in analysis paralysis, making you second-guess every move. Perhaps it’s that feeling that no ma er how much you do, success feels just out of reach.
Here’s the truth: Business success is 80% mindset, 20% strategy. e best plans in the world won’t work if your beliefs and energy are working against them.
is is where Alchemy comes in—the art of transforming your mindset and energy to create radical breakthroughs. e secret isn’t just in the doing; it’s in the being. When you master both the science of mindset and the magic of energy, you unlock something extraordinary.
In this article, we’ll explore how neuroscience and energetics work together to create tangible shifts in your business and your life. Ready to step into your next evolution? Let’s dive in.
Your brain is a powerful tool—but it also has a tendency to keep you exactly where you are unless you consciously work to change it. is is where neuroplasticity comes in— the brain’s ability to rewire itself based on repeated thoughts, behaviors, and experiences.
Every time you repeat a thought or action; you strengthen neural pathways—like carving a deeper groove into a well-
worn path. If you’re constantly reinforcing thoughts like I’m not good enough or I’ll never succeed, your brain will actively look for proof of those beliefs in your daily life, making them feel more “true.”
e Reticular Activating System (RAS) plays a role in this, acting like a lter that lets in what you expect to see. When your dominant beliefs are limiting, the RAS lters the world to match that reality, reinforcing self-doubt and keeping you stuck.
But the good news? You can change these patterns. Neuroplasticity allows you to rewire your brain for success by introducing new, empowering thoughts and reinforcing them until they become your new default.
Rather than simply managing these thoughts, deeper transformational work—such as Timeline erapy®—allows you to clear the unconscious patterns that keep you stuck. is method helps remove deep-seated fears and programming, making real change possible on a subconscious level.
While neuroscience explains how we form beliefs, the energetic side of transformation is just as powerful—yet often overlooked in business. Everything, including your business, has an energy signature. e way you think, feel, and show up energetically in uences your results as much as strategy.
• Ever noticed how some businesses seem to e ortlessly attract opportunities while others struggle?
• It’s not always about strategy—it’s about alignment. If you’re energetically stuck in self-doubt, scarcity, or fear, those vibrations shape your reality.
• Your unconscious mind holds deep-seated emotional blocks and patterns that in uence how you receive success.
Many high-achieving entrepreneurs rely on intuition— whether they call it “gut feeling” or inner knowing—to make major business decisions.
• Logic can only take you so far. Intuition bridges the gap between what you know and what you sense.
• Learning to trust and tune in allows you to make aligned choices without second-guessing yourself.
• Limiting beliefs don’t just sit at the surface; they’re stored deep within your unconscious mind.
• is is where Timeline erapy® comes in—helping you release emotional baggage, fears, and past programming that keeps you stuck.
• Rather than endlessly “managing” your mindset, we clear the root cause—allowing you to fully step into your next level with con dence.
Your business doesn’t just need strategy. It needs YOU— fully aligned, empowered, and energetically clear.
To create true transformation, we need to align five core elements:
MAGIC – Mindset + Alignment + Growth + Inspired Action = Breakthroughs
• Mindset: Rewire your beliefs to create a foundation for success.
• Alignment: Ensure your energy matches your desires and intentions.
• Growth: Step into expansion by embracing challenges and learning.
• Inspired Action: Move forward with con dence, knowing each step is aligned.
• Change: e natural outcome of combining all elements—leading to profound breakthroughs.
When all ve elements come together, breakthroughs happen e ortlessly. is is the true alchemy of transformation.
e most successful entrepreneurs don’t just work harder— they work smarter and in alignment. True transformation isn’t about doing more, it’s about being in alignment with the version of you that already has what you desire.
When you’re aligned, everything ows—decisions become easier, opportunities appear, and success feels more natural rather than forced. Flow isn’t just about ease; it’s about
moving in harmony with your purpose and potential.

Every individual possesses an inherent capacity for self-healing, encompassing both physical and emotional restoration. Our bodies have an innate ability to mend themselves in response to various afflictions, including viral infections, injuries, and emotional trauma. This remarkable selfhealing ability is exemplified by our skin's capacity for regeneration, the production of beneficial bacteria and enzymes that combat viruses, and the brain's exceptional skill in adapting to trauma and facilitating recovery.
Similarly, the human mind boasts a remarkable capacity for self-improvement, continuously expanding its comprehension and forming meaningful connections. The human spirit is characterized by resilience and a natural ability to empower individuals to face challenges and overcome setbacks.
Through a harmonious balance of determination and adaptability, human beings are equipped to confront life's difficulties head-on, transforming obstacles into transformative opportunities for personal growth and profound insight.
As the field of psychology continually uncovers the intricate dynamics between the brain and the body, it reveals the profound potential for inner healing and personal growth. This growing body of research leads
to a profound conclusion: the power to lead a fulfilling life and tap into our inner healing abilities resides within each of us.
Reading these words may spark a sense of optimism, gratitude, and hope - and that's exactly what's needed to awaken the capacity for self-healing and growth. By embracing these uplifting emotions, you can unlock the potential for holistic health, purpose and a meaningful life that already lies within us all.
As the saying goes, "what you think about, you bring about" - a notion supported by the growing body of research in fields such as psychology and neuroplasticity (Carroll, 2014). Studies are now uncovering the tangible effects of positive visualization techniques and the power of affirmations and mantras (Fitzgerald
& O'Neill, 2021). By harnessing the mind's potential to shape reality, individuals are experiencing a profound impact on their lives, from improved mental wellbeing to actual physical outcomes. In their research on positive thinking and mental health, Bodenemann et al., (2020) found that engaging in positive thinking techniques, such as affirmations and visualization, was associated with significant improvements in mental health outcomes. Their meta-analysis indicated that individuals who practiced positive thinking reported higher levels of well-being, reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression, and improved coping mechanisms (Bodenemann et al., 2020).
Research has shown that our thoughts can also significantly influence the body’s capacity to recover from injuries or illnesses. For instance, studies indicate that a positive mindset can enhance healing processes (Shapiro et al., 2020). A significant study by Creswell and colleagues (2005) looked into how positive affirmations can help with healing. They explored how telling ourselves positive things can reduce stress and boost our emotional health, both of which are important for recovery. The results showed that people who practiced self-affirmation experienced better health outcomes than those who didn’t. This research suggests that using positive affirmations can play a significant role and not only improve mental health but also speed up physical recovery.
So, what does this mean for you? It indicates that achieving the life you've always dreamed of is possible. By paying attention to your self-talk, embracing personal growth, and pursuing a more fulfilling life, you can develop a sense of purpose and renewal that helps heal your body, calm your mind, and improve your overall quality of life. Your inner dialogue, the affirmations you adopt, and your thoughts are truly important. While this knowledge is empowering, it also serves as a reminder to be mindful. It's essential to consciously choose thoughts and beliefs that support your well-being and to let go of negative thinking and the tendency to expect the worst. Reflect on the possibilities: this indicates that you have the potential for a remarkable life. How, you might ask? By simply believing it’s achievable. It's truly that simple.
If you're uncertain about where to start, focus on what brings you happiness. Dedicate time to understand yourself, and then celebrate who you are. Recognize the qualities you cherish in yourself and express your appreciation for the traits you admire in others. Make a list of everything you're grateful for—and then seek out even more.
Start to notice the things that make you feel good. Do you feel uplifted in the sunlight? Does sharing laughter with a loved one make you happy? Do you find fulfillment in helping others? Identify what makes you feel good and prioritize those activities in your life. Remember, your thoughts and actions have the power to create the life you want. By focusing on the positive and letting go of negativity, you can bring about a reality that is filled with joy, love, and abundance.
These positive feelings not only enhance your overall well-being, but the joy, gratitude, and optimism they foster can contribute to your health from the inside out. So, choose your thoughts wisely and watch your life transform in remarkable ways. As the law of attraction states, "like attracts like," so focus on the good, and the good will follow.
You have the power and means to heal yourself from the inside out and cultivate an amazing life. We have already planted the seed by you reading this article. You decide how you water it.

Over the past few years, I have shed and grown into several new versions of myself and in ways I never imagined. In 2023, I was at a pivotal crossroads—struggling to navigate the end of a marriage, grieving multiple miscarriages, and balancing the responsibilities of raising a young child while managing a full-time career that required me to show up for others as well. I felt a deep disconnect as the life I was living no longer reflected who I truly was. My breaking point was finding myself in an incredibly unhealthy relationship and losing the spark and that joy that defined me.
A series of defining decisions and changes led me through one of the most monumental transformations I have ever experienced. Between starting over from the ground up as a single mother, sharing my poetry for the first time with the world, and finally launching a health coaching business with my sister, I embraced my true self. Through navigating grief, loss, and fear I became the person I was truly meant to be. The resilience I cultivated through embracing
the discomfort of change and navigating these challenges profoundly reshaped both myself and my perspective of the world.
Healing isn’t linear, this process not only deepened my understanding of myself but allowed me to embrace my true purpose in connecting with others who have shared a similar journey and offer solace. Healing is multifaceted and multidirectional—it is also cynical, unpredictable, and happens at
different periods between the emotional, physical and the spiritual. You also don’t return to the way you were before but transform and grow while reclaiming parts of yourself and your life. You prioritize that transformation.
I don’t pretend my story is unique or exceptional, but I do know that there is power in shared experiences. There is
healing in them, and through authenticity and connection we create space for others to do the same. At the end of the day being in a place of optimal vitality in mind, body, and spirit as well as fostering human connections are what we truly have in this life. I am committed to showing up for mine and helping others to do the same along the way.
