urope’s largest modular homes facility is to be built at Corby with the creation of 1,000 new jobs. TopHat will be the anchor tenant at Magna Park, one of the town’s newest industrial estates. The state-of-the art facility, which will be the size of 11 football pitches, will be capable of delivering one house every hour - more than 4,500 homes per year. The new premises, expected to be operational from 2023, will create 1,000 new, skilled green economy
Magna Park facility is ‘an exciting addition to portfolio of business’, says council jobs across a wide range of roles including a training academy in partnership with local colleges. It is is the first lease to be signed at Magna Park Corby following the site’s acquisition at the end of 2021 by global logistics development manager GLP. North Northamptonshire Council has hailed TopHat’s arrival as a major boost to the area’s economy. Cllr David Brackenbury, executive member for growth and regeneration, said: “This
is an exciting addition to the portfolio of business we have here in North Northants. One of our key priorities is helping to create the conditions to boost the economy in North Northamptonshire. This development brings with it significant employment opportunities, which is a welcome addition to the North Northants economy.” The new 650,000 sq ft facility will be in addition to TopHat’s existing site in Derby which already produces up to 800 homes per year. Earlier this year, American aluminium can manufacturer Ball Corporation, started construction of a new production plant in Burton Latimer, creating 200 jobs. It too is expected to become operational next year. TopHat says the Corby facility will increase the company’s production capacity to more than 4,500 homes a year. To page 5 >>
