Volvo Truck and Bus Centre South & East is relocating and expanding its operations after agreeing to let an industrial unit in Bedfordshire

ehicle giant Volvo Truck and Bus Centre South & East is relocating from its base in Milton Keynes to a new headquarters near Bedford. The company is expanding its operations into a 27,600 sq ft facility on the Wilstead Industrial Park. The new premises sits within a secure, gated, 28acre site and provides greater workshop capacity and a more modern working environment. “Geographically it is a perfect fit for our network

and we have been able to tailor the configuration of the workshop to cater for both current and future needs, supporting diesel, LNG and electric fleets,” said operations director Stuart Potter. Volvo Truck & Bus took over the former site in Delaware Drive, Tongwell, when it acquired Milton Keynes Dealerpoint in 1996. Milton Keynes Dealerpoint was opened in 1990 by the Dawson Group and was one of the biggest Dealerpoints in the country at that time. In 1996, Milton Keynes Dealerpoint was sold to Volvo Truck & Bus and now forms part of the Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London. “For the last 25 years Dawsongroup has been both our landlord and customer in Milton Keynes, with our team sharing their site,” said Mr Potter. “They have been fantastic to us but, as our local operations continue to expand, it was the right time to move into our own depot.”

The workshop at the new site has been fitted out and equipped to service and maintain the complete range of Volvo trucks and buses, as well as handling all-makes of chassis, bodywork and trailer servicing. The dealership also provides brake testing, headlight beam setting and tachograph and speed limiter calibration and fitting. Volvo Truck & Bus secured the unit through commercial property consultants Kirkby Diamond, which were acting on behalf of developer and asset manager Canmoor. Kirkby Diamond had been appointed by Canmoor to market two units on the industrial park.
