UNA TEMPORADA LLENA DE ALICIENTES A SEASON PACKED WITH INCENTIVES EINE SAISON VOLL ATTRAKTIVER VERLOCKUNGEN [ CORINNA GRAF, Consejera Delegada ]

C

on la llegada de los meses más cálidos del año, Puerto Portals se convierte en uno de los centros neurálgicos de Mallorca.

El lugar en el que todo el mundo quiere estar para vivir la vida cerca del mar, disfrutando de la excelente oferta de boutiques, restaurantes, instalaciones, espacios de ocio y eventos culturales, gastronómicos y deportivos.

Entre el calendario de eventos de este verano destacan el Mallorca Design Day by Prêt-à-Portals, un día dedicado a los talentos emergentes en el mundo de la moda a nivel local, nacional e internacional, que cuenta además con el desfile de Devota&Lomba, el primero de esta marca en 2019. Así como la Rolex TP52 Super Series Championship, una de las competiciones náuticas más emblemáticas del mundo, con embarcaciones que participarán en la próxima Copa América en 2021.

A lo largo de todo el año, la Escuela de Vela Puerto Portals imparte sus clases a niños y adultos transmitiendo su amor por el mar y fomentando el cuidado medioambiental. Entre sus especialidades se encuentran las clases de vela, piragüismo, kayak o paddle surf, abiertas a todo el mundo.

En cuanto a la remodelación del puerto, continúa viento en popa. En las páginas interiores de esta edición podrá leer la entrevista con los técnicos responsables de la obra, cuyo aparcamiento subterráneo es una de las acciones más singulares técnicamente hablando, en la que se han utilizado las últimas tecnologías en cimentaciones profundas.

La reforma, que tiene lugar entre los meses de octubre y mayo, es llevada a cabo por empresas mallorquinas e ingenieros y arquitectos de la isla, de forma respetuosa con el medio ambiente y con el entorno de la marina.

ith the onset of the warmer months of the year, Puerto Portals turns into one of the hubs of Mallorca. The place where everyone wants to be, in order to enjoy the proximity of the sea, experiencing the excellent range of boutiques, restaurants, installations, spaces for recreation and cultural, gastronomy and sporting events.

Some highlights of the events’ calendar this summer are the Mallorca Design Day by Prêt-à-Portals, a day dedicated to emerging talents in the world of fashion on a local, national and international level, which also offers the fashion show by Devota&Lomba, the first by this brand in 2019; and the Rolex TP52 Super Series Championship, one of the most emblematic nautical contests in the world, with boats which will take part in the upcoming America’s Cup in 2021.

The Puerto Portals Sailing School maintains its spirit of love of the sea, teaching children and adults throughout the year. The school’s specialities include lessons in sailing, canoeing, kayaking or paddle surfing, which are open to everyone.

Meanwhile, the restructuring of the port continues full speed ahead!

Inside these pages you can read an interview with the architects and engineers in charge of the work, including an underground car park which technically has been the most impressive construction área in which the latest technologies have been used in deep foundations.

The work, which is taking place between October and May, is being carried out by Mallorcan companies and engineers and architects from the island, in a manner that is respectful of the environment and the area around the marina.

it der Ankunft der heißen Jahreszeit entwickelt sich Puerto Portals zu einem der Hotspots auf Mallorca. Alle wollen Hafenatmosphäre schnuppern, schöne Momente in unmittelbarer Meeresnähe erleben und das exzellente Angebot an Luxusboutiquen, Restaurants, Anlagen, Freizeitlokalen sowie Kultur- Sport- und Gastroevents genießen.

Zum Veranstaltungskalender diesen Sommers gehören unter anderem der Mallorca Design Day by Prêt-à-Portals, der aufstrebenden Talenten der Modewelt gewidmet ist, sowohl auf hiesiger, als auch nationler und internationaler Ebene. Den Abschluss bildet die Modenschau von Devota&Lomba, übrigens die erste des Modehauses in diesem Jahr. Zum anderen die Rolex TP52 Super Series Championship, eine der prestigeträchtigsten Regatten der Welt, bei der Yachten um die Wette fahren, die am America’s Cup 2021 teilnehmen.

Die Segelschule Puerto Portals bewahrt die Liebe zum Meer und gibt diese Erwachsenen und Kindern das ganze Jahr über bei Kursen weiter. Hierbei wird viel Wert auf Umweltschutz und Nachhaltigkeit gelegt.

Kurse in den Bereichen Segeln, Kanu, Kajak und Stand Up Paddle stehen allen Interessierten offen.

Die Umgestaltung des Hafens geht bestens voran. Auf den Innenseiten dieser Ausgabe können Sie ein Interview mit den verantwortlichen Technikern lesen.

Darin wird u.A. von der Tiefgarage berichtet. Aus technischer Sicht ist es der anspruchsvollste Teil des Bauprojektes in dem die neuesten Technologien in Tiefgründungen eingesetzt wurden.

Die Umgestaltung, die zwischen den Monaten Oktober und Mai stattfindet, wird von mallorquinischen Unternehmen und Ingenieuren und Architekten der Insel durchgeführt, die dabei die Umwelt und die Umgebung des Hafens respektieren.

At the Farmers’ Market, now in its third year, you will be able to fill up your senalla with a wide variety of local ‘0-kilometre’ products. Fruit and vegetables, crafts, flowers and plants, delicious cocas and sweet desserts, all made using Mallorcan produce. The music, supplied by Mallorcan bands, and the workshops for children, make this market a perfect outing for the whole family every Sunday in May from 10 am to 4 pm.

Puerto Portals acoge la II edición de #MallorcaDesignDay, que se consagra el 24 de mayo con los desfiles del diseñador argentino Nicolás Sánchez, ganador de la categoría Internacional con la colección Tokio; David de Calle, diseñador madrileño ganador de la categoría Nacional con la colección Pielofobia; la diseñadora mallorquina Carla García Parrondo, ganadora de la categoría Nacional Curvy con la colección Komorobi, así como las colecciones de los seis finalistas de la categoría Balear. Las modelos Marisa Jara y Eva María Pérez participan como modelos Curvy. El reconocido diseñador Modesto Lomba cierra la pasarela con el desfile de Devota & Lomba, en el que participan las modelos Malena Costa y Madeleine Hjort.

A day dedicated to new talent in the fashion world. Puerto Portals is transported to the ‘sixties to celebrate the ‘hippiest’ decade in history. Plaza Capricho fills up with the most psychedelic style, with shows, music, Ibizan décor and the most ‘sixties of accessories: the style of Janis Joplin inundates the floor, as do Elton John-style glasses or wigs reminiscent of the legendary Jimi Hendrix.

The boulevard of Puerto Portals plugs in to the ‘90s on the night of 27 th September. To bid the summer farewell, the marina commemorates the top discotheque in Mallorcan society during the ‘nineties - Cats. The same music, the same people, the same DJ – and even the same décor!

In der Nacht des 27. September präsentiert sich die Hafenpromenade von Puerto Portals ganz im Look der 90er. La marina es además sede del mundial del mejor circuito de regatas para barcos monocascos, que reúne a la historia viva de la vela para competir en la “Fórmula 1 del mar” con barcos de bandera Italiana, Francesa o Sudafricana, entre otros, que se entrenan para competir en la próxima Copa América de 2021.

The marina is the venue for the best regatta circuit for monohulls in the world, which brings the living history of sailing here to compete in the “Formula 1 of the sea” with boats under the Italian, French or South African flags, among others, to train in order to compete in the upcoming 2021 America’s Cup. Puerto Portals ist erneut zum Austragungsort einer der renommiertesten Regatten der Welt gekürt worden. Tiene todo lo que necesito, y siempre veo una evolución positiva en sus instalaciones. Normalmente en invierno no navegamos mucho. Aquí realizamos todo el servicio de mantenimiento. Me gusta mucho el puerto por la buena relación que tengo con las otras tripulaciones y capitanes. Es un vínculo muy familiar. Geográficamente el puerto está muy bien ubicado, con varias calas fantásticas a su alrededor.

La variedad de servicios y restaurantes también es impresionante.

‘For me. Puerto Portals is the best port in Europe. It has everything I need, and I always see a positive evolution in its installations. Normally, in winter, we don’t sail that much. This is where we carry out all our maintenance servicing. I really like the port because of the good relationship I have with the other captains and crews. It’s a bond based on friendship. Geographically speaking, the port is extremely well situated, with several fantastic coves around it. The variety of services and restaurants is also impressive. “Me establecí en Puerto Portals hace un año con mi socio Agustín Bestard. También tengo otras dos tiendas en Palma. Somos un espacio multimarca de moda para señoras y caballeros con diseños de Lorena Antoniazzi y Fabiana Filippi, entre otros. Nuestros clientes son en general alemanes, nórdicos, suizos e ingleses. Tenemos clientes de paso, pero también muchos que son residentes. Soy mallorquín y vengo desde hace muchos años a Puerto Portals, también a jugar con mis hijos. Valoro las reformas que se están haciendo, como el nuevo parking. Y la cercanía y la facilidad de acceso”.

‘I settled in Puerto Portals one year ago with my partner Agustín Bestard. I have two other shops in Palma as well. We are a multibrand fashion space for men and women, with designs by Lorena Antoniazzi and Fabiana Filippi, among others. Generally speaking our customers are German, Nordic, Swiss and English. We have some customers who are passing through, but also many who are residents. I am Mallorcan and I have been coming to Puerto Portals for many years, to play with my children amongst other things. I appreciate the renovation work that is being done, such as the new car park. Navegan tres o cuatro personas por embarcación, dependiendo del peso. Las aguas de la bahía de Palma son de las mejores del mundo para navegar. El perfil de los regatistas es variado: alemanes, ingleses, rusos, suecos y muchos españoles. En Puerto Portals llevamos tres años. Esta marina es un lugar perfecto para nosotros. El acceso al campo de regatas es fácil y rápido. Y además aquí nos sentimos muy bien acogidos y satisfechos en todos los sentidos, a nivel deportivo y a nivel humano”.

os trabajos de remodelación de Puerto Portals, iniciados el pasado mes de septiembre y que se desarrollarán durante los tres próximos inviernos, continúan su ritmo para adaptarse al nuevo periodo de concesión de 35 años y a la ley de Puertos de Baleares vigente. Los responsables de la reforma cuentan de primera mano cómo se están desarrollando las obras, y cómo será el “nuevo” Puerto Portals que veremos.

PP: ¿Cuáles son las reformas más significativas del nuevo Puerto Portals?

María Morro Ruiz (MSM Arquitectos): Una de las obras más importantes es el nuevo parking subterráneo con 171 plazas. Habrá menos tráfico rodado porque vamos a tener un paseo peatonal desde la Torre de Capitanía hasta la escuela de vela. Esto va a suponer un cambio sustancial para los usuarios. PP: ¿Con qué Puerto Portals se encontrarán los clientes y visitantes una vez finalizada la obra? OGDV: El objetivo es que los usuarios lleguen a un puerto nuevo, pero que a la vez mantenga la esencia que ha hecho de Puerto Portals un referente en el Mediterráneo. Una mezcla de novedad y tradición.

Veremos un nuevo Puerto Portals, pero su esencia se mantendrá intacta. MMR: Una de las novedades más llamativas será el Beach Club sobre la escollera. El resto de edificios mantendrán la estética y la esencia del puerto. Obviamente con todas las mejoras tecnológicas y técnicas, de eficiencia energética y sostenibilidad de los más de 30 años de diferencia que hay entre la primera edificación y la renovación que estamos llevando a cabo.

Siempre de manera sostenible y respetuosa con la filosofía del puerto.

PP: ¿Cuáles son las actuaciones más complejas? MMR: Yo diría que la del Beach Club, que va a ser un restaurante espectacular. También la obra del parking que se ubicará entre el mar y el talud. El cálculo en este sentido ha sido complicado. Pero el resultado va a ser armonioso a la vez que muy eficiente. OGDV: La inversión total de la obra es superior a los 40 millones de euros. El compromiso de Puerto Portals con la isla es firme y por muchos años. PP: Welches sind die anspruchsvollsten Projekte? MMR: Nach meinem Dafürhalten der Beach Club. Das wird ein spektakuläres Restaurant. Auch die Kalkulation für die zwischen Meer und Abhang befindliche Tiefgarage war kompliziert, doch das Resultat besticht durch Harmonie und Effizienz. OGDV: Die Gesamtkosten der Investition belaufen sich auf über 40 Millionen Euro.

n barco fantasma surca los océanos. Emite una luz sobrenatural y solo puede otearse a media distancia. Los miembros de su tripulación llevan muertos varios siglos y están deseando transmitir a los barcos que traten de comunicarse con ellos mensajes dirigidos a sus seres queridos en tierra firme, aunque lleven siglos bajo tierra.

Es la leyenda de El Holandés Errante, condenado a vagar eternamente por el océano debido al pacto con el diablo suscrito por su capitán, el neerlandés Willem van der Decken, en el siglo XVII. Según una de las versiones de la historia, el navegante conjuró a Satanás para salvar su vida y la de su tripulación cuando su navío se enfrentó a una espectacular tormenta en el Cabo de Buena Esperanza. Otra versión señala que Van der Decken imploró deliberadamente a Lucifer el poder de surcar los mares sin que le afectaran las inclemencias meteorológicas.

Según algunas fuentes, la leyenda podría estar basada en el capitán holandés Bernard Fokke, famoso en el siglo XVII por lograr inusitadas velocidades de crucero en sus travesías entre Holanda y Java. Tales eran sus proezas al timón que muchos de sus coetáneos lo atribuyeron a un eventual pacto con el diablo.

En cualquier caso, en todas las versiones de la historia, Dios, omnisciente, castiga a Willem van der Decken a navegar, sin rumbo y sin posibilidad de volver a puerto, por los siglos de los siglos.

ghost ship ploughs through the waves. It gives off a supernatural light and can only be sighted in the distance. Its crew members have been dead for centuries and are desperate to communicate with the ships they encounter to send messages to their loved ones on land, even though they have been dead and buried for centuries.

This is the legend of The Flying Dutchman, condemned to wander the ocean eternally due to the pact with the devil signed by the ship’s captain, the Dutchman Willem van der Decken, in the 17th century. According to one version of the story, the skipper conjured up Satan to save the lives of himself and his crew when his vessel came up against a spectacular storm sailing round the Cape of Good Hope. Another version has it that Van der Decken deliberately implored Lucifer for the power to plough through the seas without being affected by weather events.

Some sources say the legend may be based on the Dutch captain Bernard Fokke, who was famous in the 17th century for attaining unusual speeds on his crossings between Holland and Java.

Such was his prowess at the rudder that many of his contemporaries attributed it to some sort of pact with the devil.

In any case, in all of the different versions of the story, an omniscient god punishes Willem van der Decken to sail with no set course, doomed never to return to port, century after century.

SKYLODGE, DORMIR A 400 METROS. Uno de los hospedajes más extremos, ideal para turistas osados, se encuentra en Urubamba, Perú, muy cerca de la ciudad sagrada de Cuzco. Se llama Skylodge y es una especie de cápsula para cuatro personas pegada en la montaña a 400 metros de altura. De aluminio aeroespacial y policarbonato de alta resistencia, su techo y paredes son transparentes. La impresión que se tiene es la de flotar en medio de las estrellas, con unas impresionantes vistas al Valle Sagrado. Al refugio colgante solo se accede con arnés o tirolina. Una experiencia imposible para alguien que sufra de vértigo.

SKYLODGE – SLEEPING 400 METRES UP. One of the most extreme forms of accommodation, ideal for more daring tourists, is found in Urubamba, Peru, very close to the sacred city of Cuzco. It is called Skylodge and is a kind of capsule for four people stuck on the mountain at an altitude of 400 metres. Made of aerospace aluminium and weather-resistant polycarbonate, the ceiling and walls are transparent.

The impression one gets is that of floating in amongst the stars, with impressive views of the Sacred Valley. The hanging refuge can only be accessed with a harness or zipline. An impossible experience for anyone who suffers from vertigo.

Over the 27-kilometre route, it passes through the beautiful scenery of the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains and the Sóller valley, with its characteristic orange trees. Once in Sóller, you can complete the excursion by riding on the tram that connects the town to its port.

MUSEO DE LAS COLECCIONES REALES (Madrid). Una respetuosa y brillante extensión del basamento del Palacio Real. Está destinado a albergar las colecciones heredadas por el Estado del Patrimonio de la Corona. Ha recibido prestigiosos premios de arquitectura, como el COAM 2016 y el FAD 2017.

WUXI TAIHU THEATRE (China). Its striking design by Steven Chilton Architects is inspired by the Yixing Sea of Bamboo park, the largest in China. It consists of a whole forest of white columns with a latticed metallic roof, forming a screen between the building and the landscape around it. It will be home to a permanent aquatic show.

ROYAL COLLECTIONS MUSEUM (Madrid). A respectful and brilliant extension of the basement of the Palacio Real.

It is intended to house the collections inherited by the Spanish royals, the Estado del Patrimonio de la Corona. It has been awarded some prestigious architecture prizes, such as COAM 2016 and FAD 2017.

THEATER WUXHI TAIHU (China). Das Aufsehen erregende Design von Steven Chilton Architects ist vom größten Bambuswald Chinas, dem Yixing, inspiriert. Das Gebäude ist ein „Wald“ aus weißen Säulen, die in ein Metalldach aus eloxierten Aluminiumlamellen münden und eine Art Schirm zwischen Gebäude und der Umgebung bilden. Im Theater wird eine ständige Wassershow aufgeführt.

MUSEUM DER KÖNIGLICHEN SAMMLUNGEN (Madrid). Der Bau ist eine Art Respekt zollende Verlängerung des Königspalastes und soll die Kollektionen beherbergen, die der Staat aus dem Stammgut der Spanischen Krone geerbt hat. Das Projekt wurde mit renommierten Architekturpreisen Spaniens ausgezeichnet, u.a. dem COAM (2016) und dem FAD (2017).

NORTH TOWER (Nueva York). Rascacielos destinado a acoger las nuevas oficinas de la Warner. Diseñado por Kohn Pedersen Fox, destaca por sus dos torres inclinadas en direcciones opuestas.

TAIPEI POP MUSIC CENTER (Taiwan).

El futurista diseño de Reiser + Umemoto RUR Architecture incluye un auditorio exterior o “teatro robot” capaz de cambiar de forma y capacidad según el tipo de evento, un auditorio interior y una torre de oficinas dedicada a la industria musical.

SEDE DE LE MONDE (París). Este edificio en forma de puente concebido por el estudio noruego Snøhetta simboliza la conexión entre el legendario diario y sus lectores, en plena Avenue de France. Su planta es un gran espacio público para la ciudad.

JAMES SIMON GALLERIE (Berlín). David Chipperfield es el responsable de este edificio que unifica los accesos a las cinco pinacotecas de la Isla de los Museos. Ha optado por una columnata porticada de reminiscencias clásicas, en consonancia con los tesoros de la Antigüedad que albergan los distintos museos, como el busto de Nefertiti, el Altar de Pérgamo o la imponente Puerta de Ishtar.

NORTH TOWER (New York). A skyscraper designed to house the new Warner offices. Standing 395 metres tall, it will surpass the Empire State as the highest open-air observation point in the Big Apple. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, it stands out for its two towers leaning in opposite directions.

TAIPEI POP MUSIC CENTER (Taiwan). The futuristic design by Reiser + Umemoto RUR Architecture includes an outdoor amphitheatre or “robot theatre” capable of changing its shape and capacity depending on the type of event, an indoor auditorium and an office block devoted to the music industry.

LE MONDE HEADQUARTERS (Paris).

This bridge-shaped building, conceived by the Norwegian studio Snøhetta, symbolises the connection between the legendary newspaper and its readers, in the midst of the Avenue de France. Its design includes a huge public space for the city.

JAMES SIMON GALLERIE (Berlin). David Chipperfield is responsible for this building which combines the entrances to the five cultural buildings of the Museum Island. He has chosen a portico of slim columns reminiscent of classical architecture, in consonance with the treasures of Antiquity the different museums contain, such as the bust of Nefertiti, the Pergamon Altar and the Ishtar Gate.

La purificación sucede en un cuarto de vapor con una plataforma de mármol en el centro, donde se realizan masajes. Harrison Ford, John Travolta, Kate Moss y Cameron Díaz, entre otros famosos, han visitado Cagaloglu Hamami, un hammam tradicional turco abierto en Estambul desde 1741. Algunos osados que viven en zonas rurales culminan la sesión con un baño adentro de un lago congelado. Una leyenda vikinga asegura que dentro de la sauna se evapora hasta la ira.

TEMAZCAL PREHISPÁNICO. Temazcal es una palabra náhuatl. Temaz (vapor) cal (casa). Se trata de un ritual de meditación con oraciones, peticiones y agradecimientos, que utiliza hierbas medicinales y sahumerio. Es un baño de vapor que contiene aceites de plantas (albahaca, romero, pasto dulce). El vapor del temazcal viene de un ojo del cual brota agua termal. Nutre la piel y hace sudar. Purifica el cuerpo, la mente y el espíritu. Ingresar en un temazcal es adentrarse en el vientre de la madre tierra para averiguar quiénes somos. El rito comienza cuando el chamán anuncia con un caracol el inicio de la ceremonia. El objetivo es gestarse nuevamente, quemar el dolor, desligarse de aquello que bloquea el proceso de vida. La ceremonia se realiza en una construcción pequeña, de piedra o adobe, con forma redonda o rectangular.

NORDIC SAUNA. A wooden construction with a stove inside. A handful of stones spread out over a griddle which distributes heat to wood, electricity or gas. Bunches of leafy birch twigs are on hand to rub one’s skin. Finns, Swedes and Norwegians cannot live without their sauna, where they eliminate toxins at the same time as they connect to their interior; it gets rid of stress and pains in bones and muscles; they do business there, or meet up with friends, or simply inhabit the silence. Some of the bolder ones, who live in rural areas, end the session with a dip in a freezing lake. There is a Viking legend which says that even anger evaporates inside a sauna.

PRE-HISPANIC TEMAZCAL. Temazcal is a Nahuatl word. Temaz (steam), and cal (house). These sweat lodges are used for meditation rituals including prayers, requests and thanksgivings, using medicinal herbs and aromatic smoke cleansing. They are steam baths containing plant oils (basil, rosemary, dallisgrass). The steam of the temazcal comes from a spring of thermal waters. It nourishes the skin and makes one perspire. The body, mind and spirit are purified. To enter a temazcal is to penetrate the belly of Mother Earth to find out who we are. The ritual begins when the shaman announces the beginning of the ceremony by blowing on a conch shell horn. The goal is to re-gestate, to burn pain, to disconnect from everything that blocks the life process. The ceremony takes place in a small, round or rectangular construction made of stone or adobe.

Ziel ist, sich selbst zu erneuern, Schmerzen und Kummer auszuleiten und sich von den Lebensprozess blockierenden Dingen zu lösen.

Das Dampfbad wird in einem kleinen, runden oder rechteckigen Stein- oder Lehmziegelofen vollzogen.
