A TODA VELA UNDER FULL SAIL MIT VOLLEN SEGELN [ CORINNA GRAF, Consejera Delegada ]
R
epasando las páginas de esta nueva edición de la revista no puedo sentir más que satisfacción al ver, a través de sus contenidos, cómo Puerto Portals avanza “viento en popa a toda vela”, como suele decirse. Las mejoras de las que ya escribía en la anterior edición se atisban cada vez más cercanas y, en uno de los reportajes interiores, el lector podrá apreciar ya algunas imágenes de lo que va a ser nuestra marina en un futuro muy próximo. De nuevo quiero aprovechar para agradecer a todo el mundo, comerciantes y clientes del puerto, su comprensión durante las obras que se llevarán a cabo entre los meses de octubre y mayo y que, en ningún caso, afectarán al normal funcionamiento de todas las instalaciones y espacios de Puerto Portals. Otra buena noticia es que, desde hace algunos meses, hemos pasado a gestionar exclusivamente la Escuela Municipal de Vela, manteniendo el espíritu con la que nació hace 32 años, a la vez que impulsando nuevas actividades que también podrá descubrir en estas páginas. La celebración de un evento tan querido para nosotros como es el Farmers’ Market, que de nuevo ha contado con un gran número de visitantes; las suculentas propuestas de todos los restaurantes de la marina, y las diferentes pruebas náuticas que hemos albergado y vamos a albergar durante todo el año, son la antesala de un verano en el que cuatro eventos van a concitar la atención de la isla: Flower Power, The Sunset Market, 52 Super Series Sailing Week y la fiesta Cats Revival. ¡Que empiece el espectáculo!

oing over the pages of this new issue of the magazine, all I can feel is satisfaction upon seeing, through its contents, how Puerto Portals is moving forward ‘under full sail’, as one says. The improvements I wrote about in the last issue of the magazine are coming increasingly closer, and in one of the reports inside, readers will already be able to see pictures of what our marina will look like in the very near future. Once again, I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone – shopkeepers and customers of the port – for their understanding during the work that will take place between October and May and which will under no circumstances affect the normal functioning of all of the installations and spaces of Puerto Portals. Another piece of good news is that for some months now, we have been exclusively managing the Municipal Sailing School, maintaining the spirit it was created with 32 years ago and at the same time promoting new activities which you will also be able to discover on these pages. The hosting of an event that is very dear to us, the Farmers’ Market, once again saw a large number of visitors. The succulent proposals of all the restaurants in the marina, and the different yachting trials for which we have been, and indeed will be the venue throughout the year, are all the precursors of a summer in which four events will focus the island’s attention: Flower Power, The Sunset Market, 52 Super Series Sailing Week and the Cats Revival. eim Durchblättern dieser neuen Ausgabe unseres Magazins empfinde ich Zufriedenheit darüber, wie sich Puerto Portals sozusagen „mit vollen Segeln und Rückenwind“ weiterentwickelt. Die Modernisierungen, die ich in der vorherigen Ausgabe beschrieben habe, rücken immer näher. In einer der Reportagen dieser Ausgabe können Sie, einen Blick auf das Aussehen unserer künftigen Marina werfen. Ich möchte erneut die Gelegenheit nutzen, um allen Kunden für ihr Verständnis während der Bauausführung die von Oktober bis Mai realisiert werden wird zu danken. In keinem Fall beeinträchtigen die Bauarbeiten den normalen Betriebsablauf der Hafenanlagen oder der Geschäfte von Puerto Portals. Eine weitere gute Nachricht ist, dass wir seit einigen Monaten exklusiv die Leitung der Segelschule übernommen haben. Einerseits wollen wir den Charakter der vor 32 Jahren gegründeten Segelschule bewahren, andererseits jedoch auch neue Aktivitäten fördern, über die wir Sie auf den folgenden Seiten informieren. Der Farmers’ Market, ein Event, das uns besonders am Herzen liegt, hat auch in diesem Jahr zahlreiche Besucher angezogen. Die köstlichen Gerichte sämtlicher Restaurants der Marina sowie die Wassersportevents, deren Gastgeber wir waren bzw. sein werden, sind die Vorboten eines Sommers, in dem die Insel während vier Events besonders auf Puerto Portals blicken wird: Flower Power, The Sunset Market, 52 Super Series Sailing Week und die Party Cats Revival. urante los próximos cuatro inviernos, Puerto Portals realizará la mayor remodelación de la marina en sus tres décadas de existencia. Un proyecto de reforma que servirá para adaptarse al nuevo periodo de concesión de 35 años y a la ley de costas y ley de puertos vigentes. Entre las principales actuaciones, que en ningún caso implican ampliación, se incluye la reforma marítima, de la que el refuerzo de la escollera está ya terminado. n den kommenden vier Wintern wird in Puerto Portals der grosste Umbau des Hafens in den drei Jahrzehnten seines Bestehens durchgeführt. Mit dem Reformvorhaben soll der Hafen an die neu ausgehandelte Konzession für die kommenden 35 Jahre sowie an das geltende Küstengesetz und das geltende Hafengesetz angepasst werden. Zu den hauptsächlichen Bauvorhaben, die in keinem Fall eine Erweiterung des Hafens vorsehen, gehört die Renovierung zu Wasser; die Verstärkung der Wellenbrecher ist bereits abgeschlossen. Insgesamt wurden 6.000 Tonnen Fels aus dem Steinbruch sowie Tetrapoden angebracht, um die Wellen besser abfangen zu können. In den kommenden Jahren sollen die Vorderseiten der kleineren

Puerto Portals creará un parking subterráneo con 200 plazas y, en el espacio que deje el antiguo varadero, se levantarán dos edificios con una nueva zona comercial para tiendas y restaurantes, una primera planta con oficinas para profesionales y una segunda para un gimnasio de primer nivel. Esta edificación mantendrá el estilo arquitectónico de los ya existentes edificios, que serán rehabilitados, aislados y renovados para optimizar su eficiencia energética. Toda la primera línea del mar del puerto pasará a ser peatonal, como ya

Andererseits gibt es auch zivile Bauvorhaben, die ebenso wie die übrigen Projekte von einheimischen Unternehmen, Ingenieuren und einheimischen Architekten ausgeführt werden. In Puerto Portals wird eine Tiefgarage mit 200 Stellplätzen entstehen. Auf dem Gelände des alten Trockendocks werden zwei Gebäude errichtet, mit einem Shopping- und Restaurantbereich im Erdgeschoss, während in der ersten Etage moderne Büros und im zweiten Obergeschoss ein nobles Fitnesscentre untergebracht werden sollen. Die Bauvorhaben werden harmonisch in die Architektur der existierenden Gebäude integriert, die ihrerseits renoviert bzw. wiederaufgebaut werden und neue Wärmedämmung erhalten, um die Energieeffizienz zu erhöhen. Die erste Meereslinie im Hafen wird zur Fussgängerzone umgestaltet, so wie bisher im

Puerto Portals tendrá además nuevos puntos de reciclaje para residuos domésticos e industriales, la iluminación será toda de LED y se hará un mejor tratamiento de la eficiencia energética gracias al aislamiento térmico. También se cambiarán los accesos a las playas, se modificará la señalética y se establecerán puntos de carga eléctrica para los coches así como para los barcos. Las obras se llevarán a cabo entre los meses de octubre y mayo, y Puerto Portals pretende que sean lo más limpias y menos ruidosas posible para evitar molestias a sus clientes y visitantes.
Technology will be important for the project too, as all of the systems will be updated and everything will be connected by fiber optics. The port will also have its very first beach club, a restaurant with swimming pool and views of the beach of Oratorio. It will be on the breakwater and act as an attraction during the Mallorcan summer. Puerto Portals will also have new recycling points for domestic and industrial waste, the lighting will all be using LEDs and energy efficiency will be handled better thanks to the thermal insulation. The access points to the beaches will also be changed, as will the signposts, and electricity charging points for cars and boats will be installed. The work will be conducted from October to May, and Puerto Portals hopes it will be as clean as possible and cause as little noise as possible, so as to avoid inconveniencing its customers and visitors.

Puerto Portals wird seinen ersten Beachclub auf der Hafenmole eröffnen, mit Restaurant, Pool und Blick auf den Playa del Oratorio – ein weiterer Anreiz, um den Nobelhafen zu besuchen. Darüber hinaus werden in Puerto Portals neue Recyclingstellen für Hausmüll und Industrieabfall eingerichtet, die Beleuchtung wird komplett auf LEDs umgestellt und die Energieeffizienz dank neuer Wärmedämmung spürbar verbessert. Die Zugänge zu den Stränden werden neu angelegt, die Beschilderung erneuert und Ladestationen für Elektroautos und –boote eingerichtet. Die Bauarbeiten werden jeweils zwischen Oktober und Mai durchgeführt. Nach dem Willen der Hafenverwaltung sollen die Arbeiten so sauber und geräuscharm wie möglich durchgeführt werden, damit die Belästigung für Clubmitglieder und Gäste gering bleibt.

finales del pasado año se iniciaron las cuatro regatas de Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series en colaboración con la International Dragon Association, la Asociación Española de Dragones y la Federación Balear de Vela. Se celebraron entre el 18 de noviembre y el 18 de febrero de 2018, en las que resultó ganador absoluto, con 248 puntos, el alemán Michael Schmidt con su embarcación M3. Tras esta primera toma de contacto con la clase Dragon en las Winter Series, llegó la segunda edición de la Copa del Mediterráneo, los días 13, 14 y 15 de abril, en la que participaron veintitrés regatistas de la clase

t the end of last year, the four Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series regattas began with the International Dragon Association, the Spanish Dragon Association and the Balearic Sailing Federation. They were held between 18 th November and 18 th February 2018, in which the overall winner, with 248 points, was the German Michael Schmidt with his vessel M3. November 2017 bis zum 18. Februar 2018 die vier Regatten der Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series. Der Deutsche Michael Schmidt (M3) gewann die Regatta als absoluter Sieger mit insgesamt 248 Punkten. Nach der ersten Ausgabe der DrachenSegelboote der Winter Series war Puerto Portals vom 13. bis 15. April Gastgeber des II Mediterranean Cup, an dem 23 Drachen-

Dragon, provenientes de diferentes países como Alemania, Rusia, Dinamarca, Suecia o Portugal. En esta regata de primavera el ganador fue la embarcación Dottore Schwulettl, del armador Ingo Ehrlicher. El origen de esta embarcación se remonta al año 1929, cuando Johan Anker diseñó este barco de vela clásica que luego fue clase olímpica entre 1948 y 1972. En la actualidad quedan unos 1.500 barcos de este tipo activos en 26 países del mundo, con Alemania a la cabeza. Los barcos de clase Dragon se caracterizan por una eslora de 9 metros, una manga de 2 metros y un peso de 1.700 kilogramos.

Bei dieser Frühlingsregatta belegte die Dottore Schwulettl des Reeders Ingo Ehrlicher den ersten Platz.Das 1929 von Johan Anker entworfene, klassische Drachen-Segelboot wurde von 1948 bis 1972 als Olympische Klasse gesegelt. Heute umfasst die Drachenklasse rund 1500 aktive Boote aus 26 Ländern, wobei in Deutschland die gröβte Anzahl derartiger Boote zu finden sind. Die Drachenboote haben eine Kiellänge von neun Metern mit einer Breite von zwei Metern und wiegen 1700 Kilogramm.

l tiempo que se inauguraba Puerto Portals, hace ya 32 años, también lo hacía la Escuela Municipal de Vela. La marina y la escuela han ido de la mano todo este tiempo y han crecido juntas, sobre todo desde que, recientemente, Puerto Portals ha empezado a gestionarla directa y exclusivamente. Desde entonces, se han llevado a cabo una serie de obras de mejora y se ha renovado todo el material para cursos y alquiler. La Escuela Municipal de Vela Puerto Portals mantiene su espíritu de amor por el mar, impartiendo cursos a niños y a adultos durante todo el año. leichzeitig mit der Eröffnung des Yachthafens Puerto Portals vor 32 Jahren eröffnete auch die Kommunale Segelschule und in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten haben sich Hafen und Schule zusammen entwickelt. Seit kurzem wird die Kommunale Segelschule direkt und exklusiv vom Hafen Puerto Portals gemanagt. Auβerdem wurden verschiedene Modernisierungsarbeiten durchgeführt und das gesamte Material für Kurse und Leihservice erneuert. Die Kommunale Segelschule Puerto Portals bewahrt die Liebe zum Meer und bietet Kindern und Erwachsenen das ganze Jahr über Kurse an, u.a. in den Bereichen Segeln, Windsurfen, Kajak und Paddlesurfen, die

Existe también la posibilidad de alquilar todo el material de la escuela, las embarcaciones o tablas para practicar windsurf o paddle surf o las piraguas individuales y dobles. De cara al verano, hay cursos semanales, de lunes a viernes, a los que asisten muchos niños. También se realizan teambuildings, para los que se preparan actividades especiales en el mar para empresas, se organizan cumpleaños para niños con fiesta pirata y, durante el curso escolar, catorce centros educativos de Calvià llevan a sus alumnos a practicar piragüismo en las aguas de Puerto Portals. En un futuro no muy lejano, la Escuela Municipal de Vela Puerto Portals tiene previsto crear su propio equipo de regatas de optimist, láser, 420, piragua y paddle surf.

In naher Zukunft will die Kommunale Segelschule Puerto Portals eigene Teams bei Regatten der Klassen Optimist, Laser, 420 sowie Kanu und Paddlesurfen aufstellen.

“Hace casi 6 años que comenzó mi relación con Puerto Portals. Soy el capitán de El Pisco. Estudié ingeniería naval y patrón de altura. Lo que aprecio de mi trabajo son las vistas desde la oficina. A temporadas es un trabajo muy intenso, sobre todo de mayo a octubre, pero en invierno es más relajado. De Puerto Portals disfruto de sus mercados de verano, como The Sunset Market. Me gustan los servicios de Puerto Portals y creo que es un lugar muy bien conectado. Entrar y salir del puerto es muy sencillo. Entonces veíamos con miedo la construcción de esta marina, pero ha revalorizado muchísimo la zona, elevándola a un gran prestigio internacional, y ha dado muchos puestos de trabajo. Para mí Puerto Portals es uno de los referentes del Mediterráneo. Recientemente me he jubilado dejando la dirección del Club Náutico de Santa Ponsa, pero sigo en la junta. También soy consejero de Ports de les Illes Balears. En Puerto Portals he participado en regatas, como en la célebre offshore donde naufragamos y estuvimos cuatro horas en medio del mar”. ‘My life is connected to Puerto Portals. I have been a resident since 1982 and I saw the first stone laid. Back then we viewed the construction of this marina with trepidation, but it has raised the value of the area a great deal, giving it great international prestige, and it has provided many jobs. For me, Puerto Portals is one of the beacons of the Mediterranean. I recently retired, leaving the management of the Santa Ponsa yacht club, but I am stil on the board. I am also a consultant of Ports de les Illes Balears. In Puerto Portals I have taken part in regattas, like the famous offshore when we were wrecked and spent four hours in the middle of the sea’. „Mein Leben ist mit dem Hafen verbunden; ich wohne seit 1982 hier und habe der Grundsteinlegung beigewohnt. Damals hatten wir wegen des Baus der Marina Angst, letztendlich ist der Hafen jedoch eine Bereicherung der Region, die dank Puerto Portals internationales Prestige genieβt. Auβerdem wurden viele Arbeitsplätze geschaffen. Meiner Meinung nach ist der Hafen eine der besten Adressen im Mittelmeerraum. acida en las islas Baleares, Seabin Project es una iniciativa consistente en unas ingeniosas papeleras marinas flotantes que recogen basura, gracias a un filtro que va bombeando agua y la devuelve limpia al mar. La Asociación Ondine organiza periódicamente en Mallorca jornadas de recogida de basura en playas por parte de voluntarios, y da talleres a niños sobre las consecuencias para el medio ambiente del uso indiscriminado de plásticos y su incorrecta eliminación. Asimismo en la isla, la organización Clean Wave tiene como misión reducir el consumo de botellas de un solo uso concienciando a la población

reated in the Balearic Islands, Seabin Project is an initiative consisting of some ingenious floating marine bins that collect rubbish using a filter that pumps water and returns it to the sea clean. La mayor parte de nuestro planeta, alimentos y seres vivos, somos agua. Most of our planet, foodstuffs and living beings is made of water. Aus Wasser besteht der gröβte Teil unseres Planeten, unserer Lebensmittel. Und auch wir lebenden Wesen sind zumeist aus: Wasser.
l agua es la sustancia más abundante en la Tierra, y no es casualidad el sobrenombre de ‘el planeta azul’, pues el 70% de su superficie está cubierta del líquido elemento. La mayor parte del agua planetaria está almacenada en los mares y océanos. También es el elemento con más presencia en la composición de los seres vivos: entre el 70% y el 80% del peso corporal. Los humanos no somos ajenos a esta adicción universal al agua. Necesitamos ingerir en torno a dos litros al día, y no podemos sobrevivir más de una semana sin beber. Claro que la mayor parte del agua que consumimos es a través de los alimentos, algunos de ellos con gran contenido líquido, como el tomate, que en un 95% es agua. El agua es fundamental para producir casi cualquier alimento. Hacen falta 15.000 litros para generar un kilo de carne de vaca, casi 9.000 en el caso de la carne de oveja y cabra, 6.000 para carne de cerdo, 4.500 para carne de pollo, 4.000 para legumbres, 1.500 litros para cereales, 100 para frutas y 300 para verduras. Eso sí, cualquier cosa es veneno en la dosis suficiente, y el agua también. Si bebemos más de un litro y medio por hora podemos hiperhidratarnos, un tipo de intoxicación que amenazaría nuestras vidas, puesto que nuestros riñones no son capaces de trabajar lo suficientemente rápido para eliminar el exceso de líquido en el cuerpo.

ater is the most abundant substance on the Earth, and it is the nickname of ‘the blue planet’ is no coincidence, as 70% of its surface is covered with the liquid element. Most of the planet’s water is stored in the seas and oceans. Water is also the element with the

uál es su relación con Mallorca, y qué es lo que más le gusta hacer cuando está en la isla? Después de venir durante tantos años a Mallorca, ya me siento un poco de aquí. Aquí me casé y también nacieron dos de mis hijos. Todos los veranos venimos a la casa que nos compramos hace ya muchos años. Lo que más me gusta es que me siento realmente de vacaciones, sin horarios, con buen clima, buenas playas y restaurantes y con amigos y familia a los que adoro. ¿Qué opinión le merece Puerto Portals? ¡Me encanta! Tanto venir por la mañana a desayunar en un ambiente relajado y dar un paseo, o venir a comer, merendar, o tomar un helado, o arreglarnos y venir a cenar... Es un lugar con mucha paz durante el día aunque haya gente, y con un ambiente muy agradable por la noche. Además de tener unas tiendas maravillosas en las que es imposible no pararse. Lo tengo muy cerquita de casa, así que vengo mucho en verano. ¿Cuáles son sus proyectos presentes y futuros? Regreso ahora a Europa, después de haber vivido durante dos años de nuevo en Los Angeles. He estado allí recuperando lo que tuve que poner en pausa hace unos años, cuando aparqué un poco mi carrera como actriz al quedarme embarazada. He aprovechado también para formarme en escritura de guión y producción de cine y televisión, y perfeccionar mi técnica en la actuación. Me encuentro en un momento muy bueno a nivel personal y profesional.

hat relationship do you have with Mallorca, and what do you most enjoy doing when you’re on the island? After coming to Mallorca for so many years, I feel a little bit as though I’m from here. I got married here and two of my children were born here too. Every summer we come to the house we bought many years ago. What I like the most about it is that I really feel I am on holiday, without schedules, with a great climate, good beaches and restaurants and friends and family I love. What is your opinion of Puerto Portals? I love it! I like coming in the morning for breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere and having a stroll, or coming for lunch, an afternoon snack, or an ice cream, or also getting dressed up and coming for dinner... It’s such a peaceful place during the day even though there are people, and it has a very pleasant atmosphere at night. And it also has some wonderful shops where it’s impossible not to stop and browse. It’s very close to my house, so I come here a lot in summer. What are your projects for the present and the future? I’m coming back to Europe now, after having lived in Los Angeles again for two years. I was recovering there after taking a break for a few years, when I set my acting career aside for a bit when I fell pregnant. I also took advantage to train as a scriptwriter and film and TV producer, and to perfect my acting technique. I’m at a very good place both personally and professionally. PUERTO 46 PORTALS

elche Beziehung haben Sie zu Mallorca und was tun Sie gern, wenn Sie auf der Insel sind? Ich komme seit sehr vielen Jahren nach Mallorca und fühle mich schon ein bisschen wie eine Einheimische. Hier habe ich geheiratet, hier sind zwei meiner Kinder geboren. Jeden Sommer kommen wir in unser Haus, das wir vor vielen Jahren hier gekauft haben. Was mir am meisten gefällt? Auf Mallorca fühle ich mich wie im Ferienparadies, ohne Pläne, bei tollem Klima, schönen Stränden, guten Restaurants sowie Freunden und Familie, die ich liebe. Was halten Sie von Puerto Portals? Ich bin begeistert vom Hafen und komme gern hierher. Ob zum Frühstück in legerer Atmosphäre, zum Bummel, Mittagessen, Kaffeetrinken oder Eis essen. Manchmal gehen wir hier auch schick abends aus. Puerto Portals ist ein Ort, der trotz der Menschen am Tag ruhig ist. Abends und nachts herrscht hier ein angenehmes Ambiente. Auβerdem gibt es viele edle Boutiquen, es ist unmöglich, einfach daran vorbeizugehen. Und da der Hafen in der Nähe unseres Hauses liegt, komme ich im Sommer oft her. Welche Projekte wollen Sie gegenwärtig und künftig umsetzen? Nachdem ich erneut zwei Jahre in Los Angeles gelebt habe, kehre ich jetzt wieder nach Europa zurück. In LA war ich, um Projekte wiederaufzunehmen, die ich vor Jahren wegen meiner Schwangerschaft auf Eis legen musste. Gleichzeitig habe ich die Gelegenheit genutzt und Kurse im Drehbuchschreiben sowie Film- und TV-Produktion belegt. Und natürlich meine Schauspieltechnik perfektioniert. Derzeit geht es mir rundum gut, sowohl was meine berufliche Karriere betrifft, als auch mein Privatleben.

Very far from the sea, in the desert of Utah (USA) around 2,000 incredible reddish-coloured, arch-shaped rock formations rise up in the deliberately-named Arches National Park (Utah, USA). They are the product of ancient intermittent floods, as the ocean covered this region at different times millions of years ago. On the other side of the Atlantic, in Portugal’s Algarve region, there is also an abundance of natural arches hewn into rugged walls of rock in places like Praia da Falésia. O El Observatoriu (Asturias), una casa rural que cuenta con todo un observatorio astronómico en forma de cúpula en el que observar las constelaciones a través de su potente telescopio.
Park, located on the border between the USA and Canada, is a perfect place due to its clear skies and situation far from any sources of light pollution. In Europe, the island of Sark, located in the channel that separates the United Kingdom from France, has been named the world’s first ‘dark sky island’ where people can contemplate the stars in all their splendour. This award from the International Dark Sky Association recognises the scant light pollution generated by this island’s 600-strong population. In this regard, the Starlight Foundation, created by the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands (IAC) and Consultora Corporación 5, the mission of which is ‘the defence of the night sky and the right to starlight’, certifies the quality of the starry sky and the commitment to this natural heritage of tourist destinations and accommodation establishments all over the world. In Spain, there are different accommodation options that are specially designed for enjoying this spectacle. Ha expuesto de manera individual y colectiva en galerías de prestigio en Palma, Madrid, Nueva York y Sao Paulo y ha participado en ferias como Arco, Drawing Room, Just Mad, Estampa y Swab. Ganadora del Premio Ciutat de Palma de Artes Visuales 2017, su trabajo se centra en la pintura y el dibujo, con un estilo marcadamente infantil. MARTA PUJADES (Palma, 1990). She won the Premi Ciutat de Palma Visuals Arts Award in 2016, as well as other distinctions, and took part in the very first training programme for artists ‘Les Clíniques d’Es Baluard’ (2013-2014) and in the 2014 ‘Intransit’ (Complutense University of Madrid). She was also awarded an artist’s residency at the Michael Horbach Stiftung (Cologne, 2015).

Die gelernte Modedesignerin verknüpft Kunst mit Stoffen und Nähkunst undd entwickelt einen ganz eigenen Ausdruck, der sich durch vielfältige Materalien auszeichnet. Ihre Zeichnungen auf Stoffen, Wandteppichen und Textilbildern beeindrucken mit übersprudelndem Charakter. BEL FULLANA (Palma, 1985). Sie hat Einzel- und Kollektivschauen in renommierten Galerien in Palma, Madrid, New York und Sao Paulo gehabt, war auf Kunstmessen, wie Arco, Drawing Room, Just Mad, Estampa und Swab vertreten. Fullana gewann 2017 den Preis „Ciutat de Palma“ in der Sparte visuelle Kunst; typisch für ihre Bilder und Zeichnungen ist der markante infantile Stil. MARTA PUJADES (Palma, 1990). uenta la leyenda que allá en la época en la que los dioses griegos gobernaban el mundo, las sirenas reinaban en el mar, cerca de la actual Sicilia. Un cuerpo de ave y un rostro de mujer formaban este tipo de ser mitológico, similar a las conocidas ninfas. Las sirenas poseían una voz celestial que enloquecía a cualquiera que las escuchara. Muchos marineros perecieron en las aguas con tal de escuchar sus seductores cantos. Un solo hombre logró percibir sus entonaciones y no morir en el intento: Ulises, rey de Ítaca y protagonista de La Odisea. En su camino de vuelta a casa, tras finalizar la guerra de Troya, fue avisado por la diosa Circe de las temeridades que le aguardaban. “Navegaréis cerca del islote de las Sirenas, las que hechizan a todo aquel hombre que se acerque a ellas. Todo aquel que escuche su voz será afectado por la locura y morirá ahogado en las aguas que rodean la isla”. Con aquella advertencia, Ulises y sus compañeros partieron hacia Ítaca atravesando el Mar Egeo. El rey ordenó cubrir de cera los oídos de todos los tripulantes para salir con vida en el momento de topar con las Sirenas. Él, en cambio, no podía resistirse a la idea de oír sus celes-

egend has it that back in the age when the Greek gods ruled the world, the sirens ruled the sea, close to what is now Sicily. This kind of mythological being, similar to those known as nymphs, was made up of the body of a bird and the face of a woman. The sirens had heavenly voices that turned anyone who heard them mad. Many sailors perished in the water so as to hear their enticing songs. One man alone managed to hear their singing and not die in the attempt: Ulysses, the king of Ithaca and hero of The Odyssey. On his way home after the end of the Trojan war, he was warned by the goddess Circe of the recklessness that lay ahead. ‘You will sail near the island of the sirens, who cast a spell on any man who comes near them. Anyone who hears their voices will be affected by madness and drown in the waters around the island’. With this warning, Ulysses and his companions left for Ithaca, crossing the Aegean Sea. The king ordered all of the crew to plug their ears with beeswax so as to survive their encounter with the sirens. He, however, could not resist the idea of hearing their celestial voices, so he asked his men to bind his hands and feet to the ship’s mast. PUERTO 80 PORTALS

u der Zeit, als die Götter der Alten Griechen die Welt beherrschten, so erzählt die Sage, herrschten die Sirenen über das Meer in unmittelbarer Nähe der heutigen Insel Sizilien. Den Nymphen ähnlich hatten diese mythologischen Gestalten das Gesicht einer Frau und den Körper eines Vogels. Die Sirenen sangen mit himmlischer Stimme und verhexten Jeden, der sie hörte. Viele Seeleute kamen im Meer ums Leben, als sie sich vom betörenden Gesang der Fabelwesen verzaubern lieβen. Nur einem Mann gelang es, am Leben zu bleiben, obwohl er den göttlichen Stimmen zugehört hatte: Odysseus, König von Ithaka und Hauptfigur der Odyssee. Auf der Heimfahrt nach dem Ende des Trojanischen Krieges wurde Odysseus von der Göttin Kirke vor den auf ihn wartenden Widrigkeiten gewarnt. „Ihr werdet in der Nähe des SirenenEilands kreuzen, die jeden in ihren Bann schlagen, der ihnen zu nahe kommt. Ein jeder, der ihre Stimmen hört, verliert den Verstand und ertrinkt in den Gewässern um die Insel“, so die Göttin. Mit dieser Warnung im Kopf fuhren Odysseus und seine Besatzung über die Ägäis gen Ithaka. Der Monarch befahl, dass jeder sich die Ohren mit Wachs verstopfen solle, um der Gefahr lebend zu entrinnen. Nur er selbst konnte nicht widerstehen und wollte dem Gesang der Sirenen lauschen und so befahl er, ihn an Händen und Füβen an den Schiffsmast zu fesseln.

Que nadie ha pasado de largo con su negra nave sin escuchar la dulce voz de nuestras bocas, sino que ha regresado después de gozar con ella y saber más cosas...”. Así seguían tratando de encandilar al rey, ante lo cual comenzaron las suplicas de éste a sus compañeros con el objetivo de ser soltado y reunirse con estos fascinantes seres. Sus camaradas remaban rápido y llegó el momento glorioso de dejarlas atrás. Habían conseguido ser la primera embarcación en salir con vida del trayecto, y Ulises el primer hombre en oír los cantos sin perder la vida. El concepto de sirena-pez es post-clásico. Estos seres mitológicos aparecían tallados en monumentos funerarios así como en la proa de los barcos, pues creían que otorgaban buen presagio al trayecto marítimo. Sea como sea, estos bellos seres han formado parte de toda la historia de la humanidad, y quien sabe si fueran más que simples leyendas...
And so it was. The ship approached the island of the sirens, and they began to sing, ‘Come closer, famous Ulysses – Achaea’s pride and glory - moor your ship on our coast so you can hear our song! Never has any sailor passed our shores in his black craft until he has heard the honeyed voices pouring from our lips, and once he hears to his heart’s content sails on, a wiser man...’. They continued to try and enchant the king in this way, leading him to beg his companions to cut him loose so that he could join these fascinating beings. His comrades rowed fast and the glorious moment came when they left the sirens behind them. They had managed to become the first ship to survive this passage, and Ulysses the first man to hear the sirens’ song without losing his life. The concept of the fish-siren is postclassical. These mythological beings were carved on funerary monuments and the bows of boats, as it was believed that they were a good omen for sea voyages. Whatever the case, these beautiful beings have formed part of the whole history of humankind, and who knows if they are not more than simply a myth... PUERTO 81 PORTALS

Lenke dein Schiff ans Land und horche unsrer Stimme. Denn hier steuerte noch keiner im schwarzen Schiffe vorüber, eh er dem süβen Gesang aus unsrem Munde gelauschet. Und dann ging er von hinnen, vergnügt und weiser wie vormals...” Die sagenumwobenen Gestalten versuchten, den König zu verführen und Odysseus flehte seine Kameraden ein ums andere Mal an, ihn doch lozubinden, damit er sich mit den faszinierenden Wesen vereinen könne. Doch die Besatzung ruderte ohne Unterlass, bis sie die gefährliche Insel der Sirenen hinter sich gelassen hatten. Odysseus und seine Mannen waren die ersten Menschen, die bei der Fahrt bei der Insel mit dem Leben davon gekommen waren und der König der erste Mensch, der den Gesang der Sirenen vernommen hatte, ohne dabei sein Leben zu lassen. Das Konzept der Sirene als Zwischenwesen von Frau und Fisch entstand in der Spätklassik. Die Fabelwesen fanden sich auf Grabstätten oder am Schiffsbug, denn sie sollten bei der Fahrt übers Meer Glück bringen. Wie dem auch sei, die Sirenen sind von jeher ein Teil der Geschichte der Menschheit. Und wer weiβ, ob sie wirklich nur Sagengestalten waren...
