We are excited to be looking forward to our Online Annual Conference on Saturday 23rd November. We have a great line up of speakers for you, so we hope you can join us for a wonderful day celebrating our theme of Harmonising Energy: The Intersection of Reiki and Conscious Awareness.
As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisper, autumn invites us into a season of reflection, transition, and letting go. Much like the trees shedding their leaves, this time of year encourages us to release old energies and make space for new beginnings. In this edition, we explore how Reiki can support this natural process, offering guidance on how to harness the energies of the season for personal and spiritual growth. When coming up with a theme for this issue it seemed that the energies of autumn and renewal were very strong this year and many of our contributors were easily able to incorporate it into their articles.
The concept of “Autumn - The Season of Transition” delves into how the themes of autumn - release, renewal, and transformation - mirror our own journeys in Reiki practice. We also have an insightful article by Ruthie Moriarty & Alan Sanson on “Finding Inner Peace” where they guide us on connecting deeper with the essence of Ki, helping us navigate life’s transitions with grace and balance.
This issue also sees Kerrie Baker return with “Promoting Your Reiki Business Online” offering valuable advice on how to effectively use social media, especially LinkedIn, to build and sustain a professional presence.
Lorraine Carroll’s article “Equinox, Endings, and Energies” captures the spirit of the season beautifully, exploring how the autumn equinox symbolises a time to honour what has passed and welcome new energies into our lives.
Similarly, Sharon Penny’s “Sustainable Health Care Group” explores how Reiki can be part of a holistic approach to healthcare, emphasising sustainability and community.
The concept of mujō, or the impermanence of life, is another theme we explore in this edition. Embracing this Japanese principle helps us understand the importance of letting go, a sentiment beautifully captured in our article “Japanese Concepts - Embracing Mujō”.
We hope it inspires you to see change not as an ending but as an opportunity for renewal.
Animal lovers will be inspired by our piece on “Animal Reiki - Letting Go and Supporting Animal Families,” where we look at how Reiki can help animals during the most difficult of times and also how we can support the animal’s family using the wonderful strength of Reiki.
Tanya Leiper’s piece “What Do I Want?” offers insights into using Reiki to clarify intentions and desires. Writing such a list is a great way to provide focus onto our goals and and used in conjunction with Reiki can really produce great results. Why don’t you try and it and we’d love to hear how you get on.
Lastly, we shine a light on the CNHC Code of Conduct, Ethics and Performance, reiterating our commitment to maintaining high standards in the practice of Reiki. Ensuring that practitioners adhere to these guidelines is essential for building trust and credibility within the healthcare sector.
We hope that this edition of Reiki World brings you inspiration, comfort, and a deeper connection to the shifting energies of autumn. As you read through these articles, we invite you to embrace the spirit of renewal, letting go of what no longer serves you, and opening yourself up to fresh possibilities. If it inspires you to write you own article then please send them to our Editor at publications@reikifed. co.uk by 20th November. The theme for our winter magazine is: Family & celebration.
Wishing you a serene and reflective autumn filled with healing and growth. With love and light,

Connecting Reiki with Medicine
by Suzanne Ruggles Redhead and Diana Shaw
Full Circle Fund’s Connecting Reiki with Medicine project at St George’s University Hospital is proud to announce the launch of a new project to treat major trauma patients with Reiki. This new initiative, which started in August, is the first of its kind in the UK.
St George’s University Hospital is one of the largest UK major trauma units, receiving some of the most seriously injured patients airlifted from across London, Southern England and, sometimes, from across the country.
This pioneering project is built on the multi award-winning expertise of Full Circle’s 24 years’ developing integrative therapy projects for some of the most complex areas in medicine. These include bone marrow transplantation, paediatric medicine and intensive care units.
It is thanks to our groundbreaking nine-year collaboration with ‘Connecting Reiki with Medicine’ (CRwM) that Full Circle has been able to develop a unique pilot project for Reiki in a Major Trauma unit.
Full Circle’s CEO & Project Director, Suzanne Ruggles-Redhead, explains how this project came into being: “I received an initial approach from Major Trauma following a recommendation, asking for our expertise to support their critically ill trauma patients.
From our first meeting, it was clear that the Major Trauma unit were really engaged and committed. To undertake a ‘needs assessment’ I worked closely with two senior major trauma nurses and one trauma psychologist. Other clinical teams were brought into meetings but the ‘drivers’ from major trauma perspective, were two senior nurses. In my experience this is essential as developing projects in hospitals especially when healthcare workers are busy and often exhausted, can become labyrinthine and, so, having two energetic key stakeholders from with the hospital helps ensure the wheels keep moving forwards.
“As the scope of the project became apparent, I felt the best fit for this type of complex project would be to propose Reiki. I was able to draw on the nine years of clinical experience and evidence base our own team CRwM practitioners have amassed from working with us in clinical haematology, bone marrow transplantation, oncology and with patients diagnosed with the life-threatening genetic pain condition sickle cell disease.
“Working closely with the major trauma team, I developed a pilot project which, at its core, would be Reiki. My first invitation onto this project was to our Connecting Reiki with Medicine colleague Feona Gray who wrote immediately saying: ‘I wholeheartedly support this project’.
“My next call was to one of our lead Reiki practitioners Raquel Martin. Raquel has been with us since the start of our CRwM project at St George’s, and has significant clinical experience. Fortunately, Raquel accepted, and I am thrilled to announce this project has launched with her at the helm.
“We look forward very much to sharing progress of this groundbreaking project with you in due course.”
This one-year pilot is jointly funded by the Major Trauma Fund at St George’s Hospital Charity and is proudly supported by Connecting Reiki with Medicine’s dedicated Fund within Full Circle Fund Therapies - please follow the link to our dedicated CRWM donation page if you can help: https://fullcirclefund.org.uk/get-involved/donate-online/
It is hoped enough funds will be raised to create a three-year project.
Lastly, and above all, our special thanks go to one of Connecting Reiki with Medicine’s wonderful Founder practitioners Melanie Glanville, for all she did to facilitate this specific opportunity for us, too.

Japanese Concepts: Embracing Mujō
This a Japanese principle that relates to letting things go so that new things can come along: it is known as “Mujō” (無常). This concept is deeply rooted in Buddhism and Japanese culture, emphasising the impermanence and transience of all things.
Mujō (無常)
Meaning: Mujō translates to “impermanence” or “transience” and reflects the idea that everything in life is temporary and constantly changing. It encourages individuals to accept the natural flow of life, including the endings and new beginnings that occur.
Application in Life: Embracing Mujō means recognising that holding onto things—whether they are material possessions, relationships, or emotions—can prevent personal growth and new opportunities. By accepting the impermanence of life, one can let go of the old to make room for the new.
Another related concept is:
Wabi-Sabi (侘寂)
Wabi-Sabi is the appreciation of beauty that is “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.” It encourages finding beauty in the natural cycle of growth and decay, and in the simple, unpretentious aspects of life.
Practical Implications in Everyday Life:
Decluttering and Minimalism:
Letting go of material possessions that no longer serve a purpose to make space for new, meaningful items.
Personal Growth: Releasing past grievances or failures to focus on present and future opportunities.
Mindfulness Practices: Engaging in activities like meditation or yoga to cultivate an awareness of the present moment and the acceptance of life’s transient nature.
Relationships: Understanding that relationships may change or end, and being open to forming new connections.
Integrating Mujō with Reiki Practice:
In the context of Reiki, embracing Mujō can enhance the practice by helping practitioners and recipients let go of stagnant energy or emotional blockages. This openness to change can facilitate deeper healing and personal transformation. By acknowledging the impermanence of pain and difficulties, individuals can focus on the flow of positive energy and healing.
Conclusion
Embracing the concept of Mujō allows for a profound shift in perspective, fostering acceptance and openness to the natural progression of life. This can lead to greater peace, growth, and the welcoming of new opportunities and experiences.
A
river flowing gently symbolises the continuous change and movement of time, which aligns with Mujo’s essence that everything is impermanent and in a state of flux.

Finding Inner Peace
by Ruthie Moriarty & Alan Sanson
Just for today, I let go of worry
“When
despair for the world grows in me… I come into the peace of Wild Things”
Many among us are touched and affected by troublesome/worrying times, be that at a global or a personal level. It is not always easy to let go of worry and be peaceful, yet “Just for Today I let go of Worry” is one of our guiding Reiki principles.
In this article we look at the yin and yang of Worry and Inner Peace. We write with personal experiences of the effects of extreme worry. Twenty-six years ago, Ruthie’s life changed in a second when her 16 year old son had an accident. Her first year following the accident is captured in her book ”Go on my Son! Give it Some Welly”. The simple word “worry”, in this instance, doesn’t come close. Twenty years ago, Alan had a breakdown, which he now realises was primarily caused by worry.
Worry, hand in hand with panic and fear, are powerful negative energies. Even the tiniest worry can, like a black hole, draw all in – both more negatives and even what should be positives.
We have, in the past, both found ourselves very close to the depths of our black holes, seemingly with no way out. Except, slowly, we did. In this article we show ways in which we use Qiki Gong to help us cross the bridge from Worry to Inner Peace in “In-Joy-able” ways, in the hope you may be encouraged to try it for yourself, focussed on remembering our Reiki Level One teachings, where we start from a place of self-care.
Research with animals indicate two innate ways that create worry/anxiety; these are “status uncertainty” and “antipredator vigilance”.
(1). Research also indicates that worry in humans may have developed as part of brain evolution in problem-solving, along with the feeling of needing to be in control and knowing there is a future.
(2). So, it would seem that we are almost “hot-wired” to worry, to problem solve and then in theory, to let it go, as animals do. Instead, our human brains sometimes won’t stop, and worry snowballs.
What we have often found is when we start to learn new ways, like leaving worries behind, it feels like there is a void and sometimes the easiest thing with which to fill it is what we have become used to… ”what can I worry about now?” This is a valuable point at which to say “no, I am going to use the void to Be with this new idea/new way”, in this case wonderful ways to fill yourself with Inner Peace.
With this in mind, we have to take action to allow ourselves to let Inner Peace be a part of us; it takes practice. When we remember that Inner Peace always has and always will exist, we then know we have a place to go to in times of need. There is always love and peace in our higher self/soul/ spirit. The great thing about “Just for today” is that it reminds us to stay in the present, not to worry about tomorrow.
“Sometimes a small reminder is all you need to give you the momentum to start to move from a state of worry.”
Finding Inner Peace - First has to come true awareness
One of the Qiki inspirational cards we recently created resonates with this stage:
From Worry to Inner Peace via Acceptance. Worry can be made to change and become less of a pull on your emotions. Accepting that overworrying won’t help and that some things are not yours to change, leads to a belief that you can take control of your reactions and emotions and you can focus your Be-ing on your Inner Peace. The more you live in your Inner Peace the more you live with lightness in your heart and worry doesn’t bask in its own glory.
Sometimes a small reminder is all you need to give you the momentum to start to move from a state of worry. For example, when Ruthie hears a particular piece of music, which was played daily during her Reiki Master training in 2005, it immediately returns her to that state of inner peace and the realisation from the eternal part of her that this is the place where she is happiest, at peace and free from worry.
I draw people into my peace. I don’t let them pull me into their storm.
Now Let’s Be Qiki
To remind us of all that is calm and good in our world we like to play Qiki Gong outside with trees, birds, animals, rivers, flowers, the breeze, nature’s sounds and even the rain, as you will find in many of our Qiki movies, all of which can be found here…youtube.com/@qikigong
Start with a calm pose, with your hands over a chakra, focusing on letting go of heavier, negative thoughts and emotions. Then we suggest these Qiki-feelmoves all at https://bit.ly/Qiki-Inner-Peace
• Self Hug – if you feel worried, simply holding yourself can be a lovely way to Inner Peace
• Wonderful Qiki Ways to help you to cope
• Yin Peace In-Joy – the beauty of nature and positive affirmations
Wishing you Inner Peace, we leave you in the tender hands of Berry and the last line of his poem.
“For a time I rest in the grace of the world and I am free”.

Please note this article is not aimed at those who are in the state of extreme worry who may need medical/professional intervention. It is rather for the more day to day worries many of us face.
The light gets brighter
Reiki is a gift from the Universe
An invitation to come home
Opening my heart like a lotus flower
When I let go of anger and worry I do not fall, I float upwards
The love within me grows stronger
Violet, white, green: colours shift like clouds
Music plays like leaves fluttering in the breeze I sigh and surrender, safe in Reiki’s embrace
Loosening and softening, I bathe in gratitude
Kindness swells and fills my heart
Golden spirals - I am wide open
Like a raindrop falling in the ocean I return to myself and merge into the infinite With every breath, the light gets brighter.

Equinox, Endings and Energy
by Lorraine Carroll
It’s hard to imagine as I sit here writing this piece in blazing 32’C sunshine outside as we are coming out of a very rain driven summer we’ve had this year so far.
As I look towards the calendar on the wall and gaze outside at the trees, I’m noticing a few of their leaves are starting to take on a crisp, golden colour as my mind is moving slowly but surely towards the autumnal season of the year.
Autumn means a lot of things to different people. Some folk are quite apprehensive about the impending shorter days and longer nights. Some folks are concerned about the symbolic meaning of the ‘letting go’ of this season. These are both “unstoppable” but very necessary for future growth.
It’s quite exciting to see what you can look back on this year and see what you’ve achieved and making some wonderful plans to sow the seeds in this year’s ground ready for next year’s harvest.
In Reiki and the Chinese medicine system Autumn represents the element of metal. Let’s choose a very strong metal suited to autumn, Gold.
Gold is a perfect colour for autumn...it’s heavy, and yet soft at the same time. It evokes strength, positive energy, feelings of prosperity and stability. This is not only good for looking back on our bounty of this year’s harvest but also planting in abundance of our seeds for next year to start the life cycle again.
So wearing gold, or visually gold “in or around” our treatment areas is very favourable at this time to take us into the qi of autumn. The metal element also governs our lungs and large intestine areas
As the season of autumn comes in so does the cold and flu season. It’s imperative to keep ourselves healthy ready for the winter ahead with regular ‘breath’ work such as meditation and physical movement to keep our lungs clear and chest muscles strong.
Autumn emotionally is all about “letting go” so make sure your our large intestine is working at maximum capacity by stepping up our gut health regime. Nourishing our bodies correctly with foods energised with reiki to help calm the transit is the way to go. Stocking up on good foods such as apples, squashes, sauerkraut, pumpkins, potatoes, pomegranate, and spring greens are all beneficial.
The chakra we should be paying attention to is the sacral chakra Svadhisthana, with autumn being the colours of gold going into orange to deep darker hues on this spectrum, these warmer colours that feed our more creative, emotional and pleasure driven sides. As autumn is all about balance too, it is imperative that we look after this gateway chakra to allow perfect
flow of Reiki energy through our bodies. Once you have given yourself a self treatment then give yourself a further gift of an extra 5-10mins on the sacral chakra. This will do you the world of good.
For those of you who love to work with colour therapy then the colours to surround yourself with this season are the more richer/vibrant colours... it’s all about pure ‘energy’ this year so the bolder and brighter the better, rather than duller ‘muted’ hues...go for shades in golds, yellows, oranges, also metallic greens and the gorgeous French navy and blue midnight steels.
Crystal therapists should Reiki cleanse and opt for stones/gems of Carnelian, Citrine, Jasper, Amber and the ever lovely and powerfully grounding Smoky Quartz. These will not only work well in our homes especially in our business/treatment centres but also have a lovely feeling of being placed on our sacral chakra.
The aromatherapy oil lovers and practitioners
The flower/plant lovers among us would find it soothing to work with the likes of Dahlias, African Daisies, Calla Lily, Japanese Anemone, Mums, Aster, Pansies and of course there’s Chrysanthemum which celebrate the autumnal season of “letting go” beautifully.
For us nature based lovers of yesteryear the autumn or Mabon as it is known is a magical time of gratitude from what we have received from the earth and universal energy. This year not only should we be thankful for the ‘tangible’ harvest but also the reiki practice we have been taught and use to bring us such abundance and achievements of this harvest in all areas of our lives.
The nature life cycle comes to an end this season and I hope that your year was an amazing one.
Should you feel that you need that any area your life needs to go in a certain direction that couldn’t be fulfilled this year’s cycle then don’t despair as you’ll be able to thank the universe for the harvest this year and to sow the seeds of manifesting ready for the winter to prepare, the spring to sprout, the summer to bloom again for the life you will get next year.
The equinox is about “balance” and we need to do so to make these changes. It all starts with you...your thought process, your intentions, your practice and
(Continued on page22)
It’s now time to put your dreams into action.
As the wheel of the year turns from Mabon/Autumn Equinox to Samhain/Halloween our nature’s end of/beginning of the new year you should turn your thoughts to what seeds you can sow in this ‘second spring’ of ours. Manifest your dreams now, look after your body as we welcome in a chance to recharge, conserve your energy ready for your re-emergence next year. The nature’s new year of Samhain is all about death and rebirth. It’s now time to put your dreams into action.
Autumn is all about our... Equinox = Balancing energies. Endings = Our old life cycles. Energy = New life opportunities.
Autumn is truly our golden opportunity for future growth so let’s start now. Plant those seeds for the future you deserve.
I wish you all a wonderful, Mabon/Autumn Equinox filled with love, light and blessings. If you feel you still need help in this area then try a mindful meditation or one of the meditations given by one of our UKRF webinar teachers.
I recently attended a sublime chakra clearing meditation hosted by the wonderful Amit Sihra. It was a very calming and rejuvenating experience to help cleanse and clear our chakras that can work amazingly alongside our regular Reiki self treatments.
As we move further on and deeper into the months beyond summer we have our first days of Lammas where we can observe the seasons first baking and breaking of bread for the upcoming thanksgiving to nature, to celebrate the natural cycle of seed to harvest. Freshly baked bread and a good quality honey is always a welcome treat at this time.
Summer will be an ideal time to do what you can to truly reinvigorate yourself and your senses by using the sun’s energy. As an added treat we can feast our eyes on the night skies with the solar flares causing some amazing northern lights that will be very exciting to see between now and mid 2025.
So what are we waiting for, let’s carpe diem and make this autumntime worthwhile and to create some of our best memories yet.

Sustainable Health Care Group
by Sharon Penny
Hello, my name is Sharon Penny and I am Clinical Coordinator for the UK Reiki Federation. My role is to answer any queries you may have around health and client treatments. As part of this role, I also lead the Sustainable Health Care Group, which currently has three members. Our role is to look at how we can encourage Health Care Professionals in all areas of care, such as GP surgeries, hospitals, nursing homes, care homes, schools and wellbeing centres, to use Reiki as part of their holistic care plans. We would really like to have some new members join us, so if this of interest to you, please contact me at clinical@reikifed.co.uk.
We carried out a survey of UKRF members, which highlighted that fact that Reiki is widely used within the field of oncology (cancer treatment) at places like cancer care centres and hospices, where patients and staff report that Reiki is used with great effect. We would like to have the same effect across the whole of the health care sector in general.
The UK Reiki Federation would like to ensure the general public and healthcare professionals are aware of the high standards that Reiki has now achieved and spread the word that Reiki can be viewed as a treatment therapy that has no known contraindications, thereby making it safe to use in acute medical settings.
At our last meeting, another point raised was that both Paula and Nikki said they were attending different events/festivals, giving Reiki taster treatments. These events are an ideal opportunity to let the general public know about the work of the UK Reiki Federation and that we hold a register of Practitioners, some of whom are CNHC verified. We have leaflets on our website that members can purchase and take with them to any such event, if they choose to. You never know who you could be planting a seed with, it could even be someone within our health care system.
Please do also share any events you may be attending or holding through our Reiki World magazine.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Peace and light,
Sharon Penny

Managing and Promoting Your Reiki Business Online
by Kerrie Baker
Running a Reiki business means consistently attracting new clients and maintaining visibility in a crowded online marketplace. A strong online presence is essential, and one of the most effective ways to build it is through active engagement on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and, crucially, LinkedIn. Here’s how you can use these tools to raise your professional profile and grow your Reiki business.
Why Social Media Matters for Your Reiki Business
Social media offers a cost-effective way to connect with potential clients, showcase your services, and build relationships. Each platform has its unique style and audience, so it’s important to tailor your approach accordingly. Effective use of social media can help you establish your brand, reach new customers, and maintain consistent engagement with your existing community. So how do you do it?
LinkedIn: Building Your Professional Profile
When it comes to promoting a Reiki business, many practitioners focus on Facebook and Instagram, but LinkedIn often gets overlooked. However, LinkedIn is a key platform for professionals to establish authority, build connections, and attract clients who are seeking reputable services.
Here’s why having an active LinkedIn profile is crucial:
Professionalism: LinkedIn is seen as a platform for professionals. By maintaining an updated and active profile, you can demonstrate your expertise and commitment to your Reiki practice.
Content Sharing: Sharing regular, engaging articles, blog posts, and success stories on LinkedIn helps establish you as an authority in the Reiki community. Consider writing about the benefits of Reiki, sharing testimonials, or discussing your experiences and training. Position yourself as a go-to resource for information about Reiki and wellness.
Credibility: Clients seeking wellness services often search for practitioners online. A wellmaintained LinkedIn profile adds credibility, showing potential clients that you are serious about your work and have a professional approach.
Engage with Your Network: Comment on others’ posts, share content, and join relevant groups to stay active within the LinkedIn community. This will help increase your visibility and reach.
Facebook and Instagram: Engaging with Your Audience
While LinkedIn is essential for professional networking, platforms like Facebook and Instagram help you connect with clients on a more personal level. Here are some key strategies:
Visual Content: Instagram is a visual platform, so focus on high-quality images and short videos. Share photos of your workspace, crystals you use, or even inspirational quotes related to healing and wellness.
Facebook Posts and Events: Facebook allows for longer posts, which can be used to share detailed insights about Reiki. You can also use it to create events, such as online workshops, which can help attract more clients.
Stories and Live Sessions: Use Instagram and Facebook Stories to give real-time updates. Live sessions are also a great way to offer short, interactive experiences, such as guided meditations, Q&A sessions, or quick Reiki demonstrations. That’s a bit more ‘next level’ but good to know about.
Planning and Creating Content
The key to a successful online presence is consistency. Posting regularly keeps your audience engaged and helps build a sense of trust. To make this process easier:
Plan Your Content: Use a content calendar to plan your posts in advance. This helps ensure you cover various topics, such as client testimonials, educational content, and promotional offers.
Use Free Design Tools: Canva is an excellent tool for creating eye-catching graphics for social media posts. With ready-made templates, you can design professional-looking images, even without a background in design.
Engage with Your Audience: Reply to comments, thank people for their support, and encourage conversations on your posts. Engagement can help build a sense of community around your business.
Monitoring and Adjusting Your Strategy (not as scary as it sounds!)
Regularly review the performance of your posts to understand what works best for your audience. Social media platforms provide analytics tools that help track engagement, views, and clicks. Use this information to refine your content strategy over time. Look for the ‘Insights’ link under your Facebook and Instagram posts.
A strong online presence is crucial for running a successful Reiki business, and LinkedIn plays a vital role in raising your professional profile. Combined with strategic use of Facebook and Instagram, you can build a brand that resonates with clients and attracts new business. By actively engaging, sharing insightful content, and maintaining a consistent online presence, you’ll be able to expand your reach and grow your Reiki practice.
Social media isn’t just about posting content; it’s about creating connections, building trust, and offering value to your audience. Use these platforms effectively, and watch your Reiki business thrive.

xxxxx What Do I Want?
by Tanya Leiper
This is not the time of year when we would usually think about setting goals but please bear with me.
I was recently looking through one of my Reiki books when I came across a piece of paper tucked away between the pages which I had titled:
“What Do I Want”
I had completely forgotten about writing the heading and underneath it a list which I had shared Reiki with. This was probably about a year ago, and so it was interesting to now look over the list and reflect upon it.
Top of the list was something that we all crave and that is more financial security and actually looking at where my life is now, I have to admit that things are better in this regard.
Second on my list was to make a living healing horses which is very simplistic when you think about the vastness of the world of Reiki. However, I am blessed within my equine and animal Reiki practice to have the opportunity to work with wonderful horses and their owners which I love very much.
Thirdly I wanted to keep developing my riding skills and this is something that I am continuing to do since within the equine world you never stop learning and this is a wonderful gift within itself.
Lastly, I wanted to have a loan or share horse so that I could experience the continuity of working with and caring for the same horse.
I have been truly blessed in this regard as a while back I was given the opportunity to ride with Tequila, who is a wonderful horse, while helping her return back into work. This was an excellent learning opportunity for me and although Tequila is now back to full fitness, we are still riding together and I feel a lovely special connection with her which makes our time together a pure joy.
Having gone through the list, I was delighted to find that the things that I had wanted have all moved on and they have all moved in the right direction.
I remember reading an article about the importance of writing down your goals and it featured a study which had been done with graduates when they left university. The study found that those who had set life goals and had written them down were statistically far more
likely to succeed than those who had just set goals but had not taken the time to write them down, which is quite amazing when you think about it.
Looking at this from a Reiki perspective I suppose that if we take that extra bit of time to write down what we would like we are actually taking time to truly set our energy intention.
When we then also share Reiki with our written intention, it adds lovely supportive universal energy to help us along our way.
I have felt so encouraged with my experience that I have sat down and taken the time to write a new list, which I have again titled:
“What Do I Want?”
I have shared Reiki with my list and I am already looking forward to seeing what wonderful things happen in the next year.
Although we tend to think of the New Year as being a time to set our goals, it is actually something that is valuable to do at any time and I hope that my experience inspires you to write down your own list.
Lots of Reiki wishes,
Tanya Leiper UKRF Member & Reiki Master

Animal Reiki - Letting Go - Supporting our Animal families
Letting Go – Supporting our Animal families during the end of life transition
When asked to write down some ideas on the theme of letting go my thoughts naturally turned to autumn and allowing parts of our life fall away just as the trees allow their leaves to fall at this time of year in the age old cycle of spring, summer, autumn/fall and winter. However just before I started I went out to visit a young lady who had been looking for a new companion for her horse.
It turned out that his previous companion had recently been euthanized after his pedal bone had rotated due to a severe bout of laminitis. This is a particularly debilitating condition similar to diabetes in humans that we are seeing more and more in modern society and can cut down seemingly healthy horses in their prime. Owners can spend hundreds of pounds and countless hours trying to deal with this complex issue with an animal that can often seem to make it their life purpose to do the exact opposite of what the vet recommends.
In this case after years of managing this condition her pony had eaten too much lush grass causing a severe flair up and the vet had been unable to save him.
So letting go suddenly took on a new meaning; this young girl was devastated by the loss of her beloved pony and his friend was equally traumatized by the sudden disappearance of his herd mate. This is a subject all animal owners
need to think about sooner or later as even in healthy pets their life span is not as long as ours. While Reiki can go a long way in supporting our pets to live long, happy and healthy lives, too often there will come a day when their quality of life has deteriorated to such a degree that we have to let go and say goodbye.
When the inevitable time comes, holding a Reiki space for an owner and their pet during this time can help the owner let go and make the transition for the animal a gentle and peaceful process. Sometimes it is a natural transition but often letting go means asking a vet to come and assist with the process. The most stressful part of this is giving the initial sedative; It may come as a surprise to some, but even vets aren’t immune to the stresses of carrying out this service and often their feelings can increase the animal’s anxiety.
If your vet is open to it, including the vet in this Reiki energy space can make it easier for them as well. If this is something you feel called to be involved in it can take a very challenging experience for all concerned and raise it to a profound spiritual experience.
If this is something you feel called to do and you have received the Reiki symbols, HSZSN will offer a gentle spiritual energy to assist in a peaceful transition.
You can also charge the space where the procedure will be carried out ahead of time either physically if you have access to the area, home stable etc, or using distance healing if this is not possible, for example a veterinary surgery creating a wonderful healing space. Afterwards the owner may wish to receive some Reiki to assist in the grief process; often they feel guilt over having taken a life even if it was in the animal’s best interest which will be compounded by their feelings of grief and loss of a much cherished part of their family.
Having been in this situation many times I have found that in terms of helping horses or other animals with letting go, the grief process is less traumatic when we allow them to stay with their companion after death. This allows them to grieve in their own way and come to terms with the loss much faster and with less stress. This can be particularly important if it is a mother with a still birth, they cope much better when they gradually come to the realisation that the infant is not breathing. Again, Reiki will help to ease the pain of loss for all concerned.
I hope you can take what you need from this and see it from a higher perspective of the natural cycle of birth and death. If it has triggered something in you and you would like some support with either feelings of grief or feel called to use your Reiki skills in this way – the UK Reiki Federation are here for you to support the next part of your journey.
The UK Reiki Federation prides itself on working to these principles and values.
The Reiki Principles
To bring the spiritual depth into everyday life, Mikao Usui, the founder of the system of Reiki, created a set of five principles (or precepts). They can be found on his memorial stone in the grounds of the Saihoji Temple in Tokyo. He called them...
‘The secret method of inviting good fortune. The marvellous medicine for all sickness.’
Just for today: Do not anger Do not worry
Be grateful
Work with diligence
Be
kind to others
Every morning and every night sit in Gassho (palms placed together) and speak these words out loud in your heart - Mikao Usui

CNHC: Code of Conduct, Ethics and Performance
In an evolving landscape where complementary therapies are becoming more widely accepted and integrated into mainstream healthcare, it’s essential for practitioners to uphold a high standard of professionalism and ethical responsibility. As a Federation dedicated to the growth and credibility of Reiki, we are proud to spotlight the CNHC Code of Conduct, Ethics, and Performance in this issue. This document not only serves as a guiding framework for safe and ethical practice, but it also reflects our ongoing commitment to support our members and ensure that Reiki maintains its respected standing within the wellness community. Let’s explore why adhering to these standards is key to advancing the practice of Reiki.
The CNHC Code of Conduct, Ethics and Performance includes a wealth of guidance and useful information, which is designed to be helpful both for CNHC registrants and the members of the public who use their services.
The CNHC is the voluntary regulator for a wide range of complementary therapies. They were established with the support of the government to set up and maintain a register of practitioners who meet national standards, are of good character and are fit to practise.
The Code aims to be a day-to-day resource for all Registrants, no matter the context in which they practise, so the document is inevitably lengthy. In some sections there may be details that apply to only some Registrants at any one time.
The Code is a fundamental document that sets the standards for professional practice within the field of complementary therapies, including Reiki. The UK Reiki Federation proudly supports this code, as it aligns with our mission to uphold professionalism, integrity, and ethical responsibility within the Reiki community.
The CNHC code is designed to ensure that practitioners provide safe, effective, and ethical care to their clients. It outlines clear expectations, such as maintaining client confidentiality, obtaining informed consent, and acting within the boundaries of one’s competence. By adhering to these guidelines, Reiki practitioners can not only protect their clients’ welfare but also enhance the credibility of Reiki as a complementary therapy.
For the UK Reiki Federation, supporting this document means endorsing the highest standards of care in our practice. The code helps to create trust between practitioners and the public, and ensures that we all strive for excellence. It also provides a framework for accountability, ensuring that if issues arise, there are clear pathways for addressing them responsibly.
By following the CNHC Code of Conduct, Ethics, and Performance, our members demonstrate a commitment to professionalism and a shared goal of elevating Reiki practice in the healthcare landscape. This aligns with our values and fosters a sense of trust within the wider health and wellness community.

ACCREDITED COURSES è
The UK Reiki Federation is happy to highlight courses offered by those Teacher members who have undergone the UKRF course verification process and achieved the status of an accredited course provider. Accredited courses comply with the National occupational standards (NOS) for Reiki and the UKRF considers such courses appropriate for training purposes. The directory includes courses which are suitable for Professional Practitioner training (NOS) and Practitioner training recorded as “Practitioner”. There are also courses which are suitable for CPD (Continuing & Professional Development), recorded as “CPD”.
“Professional Practitioner” courses have been checked against the National Occupational Standards for Reiki to ensure that all topics are included. “CPD” courses (members only) are those which we feel would be beneficial to Reiki Practitioners.
Please also note that this list is not exhaustive and that our Teacher members all over the country also offer training courses and you may contact any of those Teachers.
As the leaves change and the days grow cooler, we enter a time of gathering and celebration. This shift from autumn to winter reminds us of the importance of family, connection, and gratitude. The spirit of this season—one of togetherness and introspection—parallels the essence of Reiki, where shared energy and mindfulness create space for healing and renewal.
In this issue, we explore how to integrate the practice of letting go into our Reiki work, creating space for fresh, healing energies to flow into our lives. On page 12, we explore the Japanese concept of Mujō..and the part that many of us can relate to is the idea of ‘Decluttering and Minimalism: Letting go of material possessions that no longer serve a purpose to make space for new, meaningful items.’ I love a good clear out so I’m feeling inspired to uncover some corners and surfaces and rearrange a few things!
Thank you for joining us in this time of reflection and renewal. We hope the articles in this issue inspire you to embrace the energies of autumn and deepen your Reiki practice. Here’s to letting go of what no longer serves us and making room for new beginnings.
The copy deadline for the winter issue of REIKI WORLD is 1st December 2024. The theme will be ‘Family and celebration’.
