PART OF THE BOHUNT EDUCATION TRUST

Thank you for your interest in Bohunt Farnborough.

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make.

Bohunt Education Trust (BET) is a dynamic learning community whose ethos is encapsulated by three simple words: enjoy, respect and achieve.

We are excited to bring our innovative approach, experience and academic excellence to Farnborough.

- Neil Strowger, Trust Leader, BET

Welcome

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to Bohunt Farnborough. Our school is a happy, thriving environment where we aim to develop confident and articulate young adults with the social, emotional and academic skills needed to face the challenges of the twenty-first century.

Our rich academic curriculum, strong and supportive pastoral care and wide range of extended activities are designed to educate, encourage and empower our students to enjoy, respect and achieve.

As Headteacher, I am honoured to lead this school, supported by talented and dedicated colleagues. This is a team approach built on positive relationships and rewarding students for working hard and making the right choices.

We aspire to provide each student with the best educational opportunities that transform potential into academic and social achievement. Teachers and staff have high aspirations for our students and support them to be the best version of themselves. Our ethos, ‘enjoy respect achieve’ and motto, ‘be the best you can be’ aims to ensure every child is able to reach their full potential. To this end, we are committed to the pursuit of academic development at the highest level. This is built on foundations of resilience, confidence and independence and we regularly celebrate students’ achievements. Students are encouraged to apply skills in both curricular and extra-curricular activities, with the opportunity to excel in art, drama, music and sport, as well as the chance to play a role in the wider community by taking part in charity events.

In January 2024, we embarked on the next exciting phase for our school by converting to an academy, joining the high-achieving Bohunt Education Trust (BET) family of schools. This move ensures that we are part of a community that provides excellent education, shares best practice and provides experiences and exceptional opportunities for all of our students.

Bohunt Farnborough is a diverse community, founded on respect, honesty and equality. At the heart of our success is the strength of partnership that exists between students, staff and parents. We are proud of our reputation as a small, nurturing school in which every child is able to flourish.

“I wanted to let you know how impressed I was with Open Evening. My eldest child is already at your school in Year 10 and is doing really well, I have been very impressed with the school” - Year 10 Parent

An innovative approach to learning

At Bohunt Farnborough, learning takes place in a vibrant environment with high expectations. Our challenge-based approach uses the latest technologies to build motivation and encourage students to become independent learners equipped with skills for future success.

Students take an active role in their learning and the school culture – participating in staff appointments, leading events and fundraising, attending governor meetings and consulting on learning approaches. The Bohunt curriculum teaches effective use of new technologies, creates a growth mindset through STEM projects and develops resilience, teamwork and selfconfidence. Our innovative approach enables students to broaden horizons, develop interests and foster a passion for lifelong learning – nurturing the ‘game-changers’ of tomorrow.

“All teachers at Bohunt Farnborough are a credit to you, you really couldn’t ask for anything more than such lovely staff and they do a famtastic job, well done”
- Parent of current student

Respect

A nurturing environment

We promote self-worth, combined with respect for others. High expectations are embedded within an environment founded on mutually respectful relationships between students, staff and parents.

Students join houses with tutor groups that provide support and leadership opportunities guided by tutors and staff. The house system eases the primary-to-secondary transition and nurtures a sense of belonging. Students perform in assemblies, maintain the school, support charities and represent the school locally and beyond, fostering ownership and pride. We have very high expectations for attitudes and behaviour from all.

When asked what we could improve?
“Nothing my child loves it here!”
- Parent Survey, 2023
