Celebrating record GCSE results

Our 2024 cohort has achieved some excellent results, whilst demonstrating great resilience, commitment and determination during their time at the school. The accomplishments of students were celebrated across the board Particular highlights include:
Merry S, Head Girl, who successfully achieved 9 in Combined Science, Art and Music and 8 in English Literature, English Language, Geography and Maths. Merry is going on to study song writing at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford
Lacey F, who successfully achieved 9 in Combined Sciences and 8 in Maths, Music and Spanish. Lacey is going on to study A levels

Landon M, who successfully achieved 9 in Combined Sciences and 8 in English Literature and English Language. Landon is looking at a career in Law and is studying Law, Criminology and History at Farnborough Sixth Form College.
At Bohunt Farnborough we continue to make strong progress across the school and for the second year are one of the most improved schools in Hampshire. Performance in the Basics of English and Maths are at a 10 year high, with 70% of students achieving a grade 4 or higher in English and 60% achieving a grade 4 or higher in Maths. We continue to see improvements in the number of highest grades awarded (grades 7 to 9), compared to the national downward trend, most noticeably in Art, Geography and Music This follows Bohunt Farnborough completing its first year as part of the Trust.
We continue to strive for excellence, believing that every student has the potential to be whoever they want to be; our highly skilled, passionate and dedicated team of staff nurture students to be the best they can be.
Students enjoy a visit to the Palace of Westminster

Earlier this year, we took a group of Year 9 students on a very special trip to London for a tour of the Palace of Westminster. The trip was an opportunity for students to discover what happens in the House of Commons Highlights from the tour included being given the opportunity to stand in the chamber and be the opposition Party. We also had the opportunity to visit the original Westminster Hall, built in 1066 and the only surviving part of the original palace
Later, we enjoyed a tour of Westminster Abbey, following King Charles III footsteps to be crowned, seeing the Coronation Chair and many English monarch’s tombs including Edward the Confessor and paying respects at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior.
This was a fascinating trip that all students came away from with a much deeper understanding of the history and significance of these incredible buildings.
Bohunt Farnborough’s Global Fair

At Bohunt Farnborough our lives are enriched by the students who have joined us from around the world. A quarter of our students speak at least one other language in addition to English, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and experience about other countries and cultures I wanted to celebrate our diverse community and to give all of our students, their families and our staff a special event in order to do thishence the creation of the Global Fair.
This year was our fourth Global Fair and we all agree this was the best one yet. We had a fantastic turnoutaround 350 people attended - and the sun shone after weeks of rain! Outside the hall were stalls with excellent Nepali street food, plants, books, and the ever popular snow cones; also this year each House was represented with a stand featuring some great games. Inside you could get your hand tattooed by our talented team of henna artists and enjoy delicious cakes, pastries and desserts from all over the world. As always, the highlight of the afternoon was watching our students shine with the most incredible dance displays and musical performances. The countries represented on the stage this year were: Portugal, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, South Africa, India, Moldova, the UK and Nepal. We were treated to a particularly stunning finale by our group of Year 9 girls and Year 10 boys of Nepali heritage who told a story through their dance routine They have set the bar very high for next year
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this event by giving so generously of their time and energy… and cakes! It was wonderful to see so many families from our school community come together to enjoy the occasion, creating a fantastic atmosphere and sense of togetherness which is ultimately what the Global Fair is all about. This year our chosen charity for the proceeds is the Farnborough branch of the Samaritans

Meet our new Head Students!

This year we have selected four outstanding students to serve as their head students for the upcoming academic year, who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, dedication to their school community, and a commitment to fostering positive change. Let's meet them!
Kian, Head Boy
I understand that such a position with a high amount of responsibility required should go to a person who is willing to take the good with the bad. My sole purpose for applying is to better the school for our current student population and many others to come, not boast that I am in charge or show off my status. Also to improve and better the school, a student of this role should be greatly ambitious and have a resilient and hardworking attitude.
Mariana, Head Girl
Since I joined the school in 2020, I have been waiting for this day to apply and represent my school and inspire others in the school community like previous head students did to me when I was in younger years. To be ready, respectful, responsible.
I believe that, since this is my fifth year at Bohunt Farnborough, I have a greater understanding of the inner workings of the school and I am more equipped to understand and support my fellow students in every house. In the past couple of months, I have seen the school go through many changes, including being an academy now, and I would like to be part of the change that makes the school the best it can be.
Lexy, Deputy Head Student
You may ask yourself, ‘Why does Lexy Musa deserve to be Head Girl?’ After all, I don’t have the highest grades, nor do I top the list in achievement points So why me?
Being Head Girl is not just about academic excellence – it’s about being a role model who inspires others through action, attitude and leadership A Head Girl should reflect the Bohunt values, and I believe I embody these qualities
Subarna, Deputy Head Student
I believe that by working closely with teachers and students it is possible to make a real difference, which will further grow my leadership skills I hugely thank and admire my teachers at Bohunt Farnborough for their dedication and hard work and cooperation with me and all my peers, especially when I had a language issue My teachers all did their hardest to involve me in class work and in lessons, allowing me to learn when it was most difficult for me
Students take to the polls for Parallel Elections

In July students took to the polls to vote in a Parallel General Election offering them the chance to gain a deeper understanding of the UK election process. Students looked at national policies via party manifestos and local candidate’s statements within their school’s constituency.
On the day, we set up a polling station with students given a ballot paper to vote for their preferred candidate
On Friday 5 July, the day after the voting took place, the winners were announced and an overall majority went to the Labour party, reflecting the national vote. The event was really popular with students, with a strong voting turnout. Well done to all our gamechanging students for taking part.
Students shine in Wizard of Oz production

The start of July saw show week in full swing for Bohunt Farnborough. A cast and crew of passionate and talented students took to the stage for a magic two-night performance of 'The Wizard of Oz'!
Friends and family were treated to a two part show brought to life by Dorothy and her troop of friends on their way to meet 'The Wizard' himself. Both nights were a testament to the hard work of the students and Director Miss Mikowski as they captured the audience through song and dance!
A Poem by Lexy
At Bohunt Farnborough we are very lucky to have an incredibly talented poet, Lexy, as one of our students. Lexy recently won the Key Stage 3 Royal Holloway Young Black Creatives Award and shares one of her poems with us below.
In the quest for respect
What warrants respect?
Should something be done?
Should respect be given to someone with none?
In the quest for respect these need to be answered. Should respect flicker in our eyes like tiny dancers?
Could giving respect save someone's life?
Should respect be given in times of disaster?
The answer is yes but do not stress respect is an easy concept to get.
Can I get respect?
Can respect be broken?
All that I know is respect is a token it shows our admiration, our care and our hoping for the world and for ourselves so be kind be open and respect.

A look back at Sports Day!

Sports Day 2024... was epic! Dodging the rain, playing rounders and cricket, running the obstacle course race, wanging wellies and taking part in the House races… the day had it all.
Lesson one we had all students from Years 7-10 out on the school field and the atmosphere was fantastic! The enjoyment and smiles, respect and sportsmanship, and the achievements of the winners and everyone who was there showed what a fantastic school community we have!
At the half-way point of the day it was a close call between the four houses, but with some heavy scores coming in from Rashford and Curie, things got interesting! However the afternoon saw a sea of red, and Yousafzai were crowned the 2024 champions. A huge well done to Mrs Hawkes and the students of Yousafzai house! We are looking forward to 2025 already!
