On October 27, 2022, the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc in partnership with Stronger2 Initiative and Alfred Street Baptist Church hosted Beyond Hope: The Art of Battling Cancer This amazing event was hosted by Dominique Da Diva, a syndicated radio personality on WKYS 93.9, and with a special guest, Dr Hadiya-Nicole Green, an American medical physicist known for developing a methodology for a potential treatment for cancer This highly-attended event uplifted the stories of Black women who are cancer survivors and brought further awareness of the Ora Lee Smith Foundation The foundation's mission is to change the way cancer is treated and reduce human suffering by providing cancer care that is accessible, affordable, and effective. The collective efforts that evening allowed us to fulfill our commitment to the Eastern Province by raising over $11K for the foundation. Lastly, this momentous occasion created a unique opportunity to give five women makeovers and a chance to be seen beyond their cancer, but yet for their beauty.
