Greetings dear friends,

Well, I have been home for a few weeks now since my epic trip. It was wonderful to see my love Allison and our kids again.

Across my travel I spent time in five countries, USA, Turkey, Germany, Poland and Ukraine. It was during my conference in Turkey that I heard news of the terrible attack on Israel. There were some tight security situations leaving Turkey which included a roadblock on my way to Istanbul airport for my flight out of the country. Because of the delay I almost missed my fight. I heard afterwards that it was some kind of bomb threat on a bus ahead of us.

I am grateful beyond words for you, for your prayer and your faithful support. As we look at the sky, stars shine brighter the darker it gets. Your help ensures that we continue to provide the suffering church with the resources they need to keep ‘shining like stars in the universe’ in these dark and perilous times where more Christians are enduring persecution, violence, crisis and war (see Philippians 2:15).

This Christmas, we are seeking to raise $100,000 to give hope to our faithful teams in Ukraine, Myanmar and Egypt into 2024. We are working to set up teams in all seven states in Myanmar to further the reach of our ministry there as the civil war traumatizes and displaces more people across the country. We plan to support three new healing teams in Ukraine and two new projects in Egypt focusing on Sudanese believers fleeing war and persecution in Sudan.

HEALING THE HEARTBREAK

My time in the Ukraine with our team there was precious and heartbreaking. I was so inspired by their love for the women and children they are caring for, many of whom they have helped rescue from the frontline of the war with Russia. I was so impressed by how they are deploying our courses with such faithfulness, and it was wonderful to see how many broken lives are being transformed and connected with churches for discipleship and ongoing pastoral care.

All of our team have experienced grief and loss, yet they continue to trust the Lord and his love and faithfulness.

Despite the horrors of war and the ongoing conflict, the church in Ukraine is seeing a powerful renewal of the Holy Spirit. While I was there, the Lord kept laying on my heart.

Psalm 46:1,2.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.”

I found it hard to encourage them because I knew that I would soon be leaving for a safer place and they would continue to carry the burden of Russian occupation, and the continued destruction of their homeland, and lives.

Perhaps the hi-light of my trip was when during a therapy session with their parents, these displaced children (pictured below) showed their gratitude to me for coming and helping them by writing art and drawing their pain and hope on a Ukrainian flag they then gifted me.

One of the little girls on the left drew me a sunflower. She hid under her bed for 4 days while the Russian Air Force relentlessly shelled her home to smithereens around her! Miraculously she survived.

So many incredible stories of survival, such as ladies sharing how they witnessed atrocities and war crimes against their own neighbors. The need for trauma care is overwhelming, but YOUR support for Project 114 really is making a difference in this place of deep pain and sadness.

We now plan to increase our trauma recovery teams to include two more cities in Ukraine where many displaced women and children are sheltering with little or no access to life giving trauma healing support.

Our prayer ministry continues to grow with more intercessors joining from China, Africa, and Ukraine, and we have new business partners joining the team. It is thrilling to see Suffering Christians and Christians in America mutually support each other in this powerful life giving and chain breaking partnership. A key verse for me is Galatians 6:20, “Carry each other’s burdens, and you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

Prayer partnerships always come with challenges. Our intercessors need pastoral care and discipleship as do our entrepreneur partners. We continue working hard to mature our administrative model of receiving prayer requests and sending encouragements and insights to our partners. This often requires translation across several languages and around the clock assessment and oversight.

Please pray for Sandy our intercessor leader and pray for me as we need wisdom to assess the suitability of new intercessors. Pray for Allison and Melodie as they manages the ongoing administrative process and communication with prayer warriors and our partners.

Iryna

INTRODUCING

I am super excited to introduce you to Iryna (pronounced Ir-ee-na), our new International Project Manager. Iryna is a classically trained violinist, has a Masters Degree in Linguistics, and has experience managing ministry teams.

She is also studying for a degree in pastoral care.

Iryna has experienced her own struggle in Ukraine when her city was attacked by the Russians last year. She will begin working with our Ukraine team and other country projects. Iryna will be a great blessing to Allison and me as she takes some of the workload from us, helping us stay focused on developing the ministry of Project114 and caring for our partners.

Iryna loves Jesus and is passionate about seeing the global church find healing and hope. We can’t wait to see how the Lord will use her.

Ukraine & Myanmar GIVE THEM HOPE THIS CHRISTMAS This Christmas, we are seeking to raise $100,000 to support our faithful teams in Ukraine, Myanmar and Egypt into 2024.

Pray for blessing for Iryna as she learns her new role and wisdom and safety as she begins helping our teams negotiate the many challenges they face every day.

Pray for a shield of protection for Silas and his family as the Civil War in Myanmar intensifies and He continues to travel in country to reach the wounded and vulnerable with our healing resources.

Mani in Egypt has asked for prayer support as he’s under immense spiritual attack and his wife recently broke her leg. He is leading more art therapy workshops especially among Sudanese refugees who have fled war and persecution in Sudan.
