The summer selling season is officially here, but the real estate market across San Diego County is shifting. After a brief spring surge, the pace has begun to slow over the past few weeks as inventory rises and buyer demand softens.
Affordability remains the key challenge. With mortgage rates still elevated and consumer confidence shaken by recent tariff news and market volatility, some buyers are pausing their home search.
We’re seeing a healthy increase in available homes, but demand has cooled from the springtime frenzy. Homes are taking longer to sell, and pricing strategy has never been more important.
In the luxury segment, inventory has increased by 4% while buyer demand has dropped by 9% - just in the last couple of weeks. Average market time has stretched to 169 days. Much of this slowdown can be attributed to ongoing fluctuations in the financial markets.
FOR BUYERS: There are more choices and less competition this summer. Well-priced homes in desirable locations are becoming more accessible, and you may have stronger leverage for repairs or concessions. If you’re planning to buy, now’s the time to be prepared and strategic.
FOR SELLERS: Summer remains a strong window to list your home - especially with buyers eager to move before the new school year. Correct pricing is crucial, as affordability concerns weigh heavily on buyer decisions. We’re here to help you prepare, price right, and stand out.

Cassie Dudley is the Co-founder and Director of Operations at Pure Meal Prep SD, a local meal service she runs with her husband, Brett. The two met while working in a fine dining French restaurant — he was the chef, she was the general manager — and bonded over a shared love of food and fast-paced kitchen life.
In 2018, they launched Pure Meal Prep with a simple goal: make healthy eating feel effortless and enjoyable. Today, they deliver organic, chef-crafted meals straight to your door, helping busy families — especially moms — eat well without the stress.
We caught up with Cassie to hear more about their journey and what makes Pure Meal Prep such a delicious success.
Q: What inspired you to start Pure Meal Prep SD? How has your mission evolved since day one?
A: When we left the restaurant industry, Brett and I were both trying to eat healthier at home. We ordered from a few meal prep companies, but nothing tasted like the kind of quality we were used to. It felt like we had to choose between healthy or delicious and we didn’t want to settle for either. So we started cooking at home, sharing meals on social media, and suddenly realized there were others looking for that same balance.
Over the years, our mission has grown beyond just great food. It’s become about people and connection. When you reach out to us, you're talking to a real person, someone who cares about what you’re eating, how you’re feeling, and what’s going on in your life. It’s not just a meal, it’s a lifestyle, we’re building, one plate at a time.
Q: How do you design your meals to meet the needs of busy families and health-conscious moms?
A: We know firsthand how chaotic life can get, that’s why every meal we create is built around the idea of combining restaurant-quality flavors with real-life practicality. Brett stays ahead of the curve researching food trends, dining out for inspiration, and always asking, how can we make this both healthier and more convenient?
Our meals are inspired by what's in season, what tastes amazing, and what actually works for real families. It’s the joy of eating out, brought home and made nutritious.
Q: Can you walk us through your typical meal prep process, from sourcing ingredients to delivery?
A: Every week starts fresh. We source local produce, high-quality proteins, and organic ingredients whenever possible. Brett creates a brand new menu each week, and our team gets to work prepping
everything from scratch. Every sauce, every marinade, it’s all made by hand.
We treat our kitchen like a restaurant, not a factory. Music’s always playing, the energy is high, and we’re all working together to make something we’re proud of. Meals are carefully plated, sealed, and packed with love.
From there, our amazing team driving in refrigerated vans make sure your meals get to your doorstep efficiently and safely. They know San Diego like the back of their hand, and they’re just as committed to making sure each delivery feels like a five-star experience.
Q: What advice would you give to moms trying to eat healthier or simplify mealtime at home?
A: Make yourself a priority. As moms and caregivers, we’re so used to eating leftovers from our kid’s plate or skipping meals altogether. But nourishing yourself matters too. That doesn’t mean adding more to your to-do list, it means having something ready that feels good, tastes amazing, and supports your health.
Having healthy, ready-to-go meals on hand can be a total game changer. Heat one up while
your kids are eating, or even take it on the road to enjoy during school pick-up. It’s about making your own wellness a little easier and giving yourself permission to enjoy it.
Q: Finally, how can readers reach out to you?
We’d love to connect! You can find us on Instagram, visit our website, or give us a call — whatever’s easiest for you.

From Mary & Heather, hosts of "How Mom Made It!" & upcoming podcast "Audiobook Millionaire"
Many of our readers know us as the editors of the MomsTown newspaper. This paper is just one of our ongoing projects. We’re also authors, moms, and the voices behind the How Mom Made It! podcast. And we’re beyond excited to announce our next big project: a brand-new podcast and audiobook series called Audiobook Millionaire.
The new podcast, launching in September, is for every writer, creator, coach, entrepreneur — or passionate soul — who has a story to tell or a message to share. Whether it’s tucked away in a dusty journal, scribbled in your Notes app, or just floating in your head... this is your sign.
It’s time to write the book.
It’s time to self-publish.
And it’s absolutely time to turn your voice into your biggest asset — with an audiobook.
We know it sounds overwhelming. So we’re here to say, it’s not.
In fact, with the right plan, the right mindset, and a little encouragement, you can go from idea to self-published author in just 60 days. And yes, that includes the audiobook too.
8 STEPS TO GO FROM IDEA TO SELF-PUBLISHED AUTHOR IN 60 DAYS
1. Start With One Solid Idea
Don’t try to write the world’s greatest book. Focus on solving one problem, sharing one transformation, or telling one story. Simplicity wins. Clarity attracts.
2. Outline Before You Write
Give yourself a roadmap. Break your book into bite-sized chapters, each serving a purpose. Don’t overthink it. Just jot it down like you’re making a list for a friend.
3. Set a 30-Day Writing Sprint
You don’t need six months. Just 30 focused days. Write 800–1,000 words a day, and by the end of the month, you’ll have a complete draft. Stay consistent — even 20 minutes a day counts.
4. Speak It If You Can’t Write It
Not a fan of typing? Talk it out. Use voice-to-text or record your thoughts and transcribe later. Your voice matters — especially since you’ll be using it for your audiobook!
Let's make it real in 60 days! JOIN US! SCAN THE CODE & LET'S GET STARTED!
5. Self-Edit Lightly, Then Let It Go
Get your draft clean and clear—but don’t obsess. You can use tools like Grammarly, or bring in a freelance editor for a quick polish. Done is better than perfect.
6. Design and Format Like a Pro
You don’t need to be a graphic designer. Use Amazon KDP’s free templates or hire someone on Fiverr or Reedsy. Keep it clean, readable, and on-brand with your message.
7. Record Your Audiobook (Yes, You Can!)
This is where Audiobook Millionaire comes in. We’ll walk you through how to record at home—no fancy studio required. You can use a mic, a laptop, and a quiet space. It’s easier than you think—and it builds trust like nothing else.
8. Publish and Promote Like a Boss
Upload your book to Amazon KDP and your audiobook to ACX or Findaway Voices. Then share it! Use your social media, email list, podcast guest spots — whatever you’ve got. You wrote a book. Now let the world hear it.
You Don’t Have to Be a Bestselling Author to Change Lives
We created Audiobook Millionaire because we’ve seen what’s possible. We’ve watched authors go from “I’m not ready” to “Oh my gosh, I just got my first review!” This isn’t about chasing perfection — it’s about momentum, courage, and using your voice (literally!) to serve and inspire others.
Audiobooks are exploding. They’re outpacing eBooks. And you know what the world needs? More voices. More real stories. More you.

If you’ve ever dreamed of writing a book or sharing your story out loud — this is your moment.
You don’t need permission. You don’t need a publishing deal.
You just need 60 days and a little support.
Let’s make your audiobook dreams real!

How Mom Made It! Audiobook Millionaire
We’re back — and more inspired than ever.
The new season of How Mom Made It! is launching soon, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring you another round of honest, powerful, and heart-filled conversations with moms from all walks of life. From right here in our local communities to stories stretching across the country, every episode is a window into the many ways moms are showing up, pushing through, and redefining what it means to “make it.”
Because here’s the truth: Making it isn’t always about big, flashy wins. Sometimes, making it means getting out of bed after getting absolutely no sleep. Sometimes, it’s juggling a full-time job and a side hustle with grace — and sometimes, not-so-much grace. It can mean launching a business, writing a book, healing from trauma, or finally setting boundaries with a narcissist in your life. Other days, it’s about facing impostor syndrome head-on and choosing to speak up anyway.
In this new season, we’re celebrating it all — the small victories, the quiet resilience, the bold breakthroughs, and the lessons learned in between. Because “making it” looks different for every mom, and that’s exactly what makes each story worth telling.
You’ll hear from women who’ve turned pain into purpose, hobbies into income, and chaos into calm. We’ll feature moms who are building empires, raising kids, rewriting the rules, and learning to rest. Some episodes will make you laugh, some might bring tears — but all of them will remind you that you are not alone, and that your version of success matters.
Got a story to share? Or know someone whose journey deserves a mic and a spotlight? We’d love to hear from you. This show is fueled by real women, real voices, and reallife moments that deserve to be shared. Reach out to us at
Heather@MomsTown.com or Mary@MomsTown.com and tell us a bit about the story you think needs to be heard.
We’re also sharing more behind the scenes, sneak peeks, and bonus inspiration through the MomsTown newsletter. Head over to MomsTown.com and sign up so you don’t miss a thing.
This season is about more than just storytelling. It’s about creating space — for connection, for truth, for healing, and for celebration. Whether you’re running a business or running late for school drop-off, there’s something in these conversations for you.
Here’s to all the ways moms make it, and all the moments — big and small — that make us who we are.
We're so glad you're here with us...
Mary & Heather How Mom Made It!
I feel incredibly grateful that my parents were always diligent savers, which allowed me to start my journey in the U.S. Their hard-earned savings secured me a one-way ticket, packed my luggage with essentials like pots and blankets, and $400 in my pocket about 35 years ago; however, throughout my career, I've often encountered people expressing sentiments like, “My parents didn’t teach me about money,” or “My parents weren’t the best role models when it came to finances.” These conversations deepened my appreciation for my parents' lessons and the values of my cultural background. Sadly, our schools fall short in teaching kids about money matters as well. That’s why I want to share some practical tips for parents who are eager to help their children build strong financial habits.
1. Start early
It’s easier to build good habits right from the beginning than to try and fix bad ones later on. Kids are incredibly observant and easily influenced. Even a toddler can figure out how easy it is to get a new toy, whether it’s from their parents or grandparents. They might not fully grasp the ideas of value or price yet, but they definitely pick up on the patterns around them.
2. Teach our children a healthy relationship with money
Keeping relationships is often more valuable than easily letting them go. It's important to model the behaviors you want your children to adopt — like saving money and living within their means. Over time, you'll likely be pleased to see your kids embrace these habits, which can greatly benefit them throughout their lives.
3. Assign them a job
Helping kids learn to make good decisions is really important. One way to do this is by considering allowances or giving them ageappropriate chores so they can earn their own money. In addition, give them more freedom to decide how to spend it, and allow them to make some mistakes so they can learn firsthand from them. I admire parents who motivate their kids to save up, and celebrate milestones when they hit their saving goals. These practices can play a vital role in fostering a healthy relationship with money and instilling good saving habits from a young age.
4. Building credit early
With a time-tested, healthy outlook on money established, the next step is to start building credit. Remember, lengths of time have a big impact on your credit score, so it’s best to begin early! Do your homework to find credit cards that report to a minor’s credit, allowing them to start building their credit profile sooner rather than later.
5. Making compounding growth work in your child’s favor
Einstein once said, “Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it; he who doesn’t, pays it.” Understanding how to earn higher growth over a long period is essential for building long-term wealth. Learning to invest in the market is crucial, as well as better understanding one’s own risk tolerance. I’ve found that market simulation games are an excellent way to introduce this concept to kids. They can even involve their likeminded friends, fostering some friendly competition!.
6. Take advantage of tax benefits
I often mention tax strategies in my articles because I believe in using tax-efficient plans and accounts to pursue long-term financial confidence. I also think it’s beneficial to introduce these concepts to children when they are old enough to understand them. Who knows? If you involve them during tax season, they might even offer insights that could be helpful to you!
By practicing mindfulness and engaging in daily conversations, parents can involve their children in financial decisions without dedicating excessive time to formal teaching about money. This approach can significantly benefit children's long-term financial wellbeing and may also provide immediate and lasting advantages for parents themselves.

In our fast-paced world, stress is an all-too-common experience. While there's no one-sizefits-all solution, incorporating simple, evidence-based techniques into your daily routine can make a significant difference. Here are two accessible tools to consider adding to your mental wellness toolbox: box breathing and daily journaling.
Box breathing, also known as square breathing, is a controlled breathing technique that promotes relaxation and mental clarity. This method involves four equal steps:
1. INHALE SLOWLY THROUGH YOUR NOSE FOR 4 SECONDS
2. HOLD YOUR BREATH FOR 4 SECONDS
3. EXHALE SLOWLY THROUGH YOUR MOUTH FOR 4 SECONDS
4. HOLD YOUR BREATH AGAIN FOR 4 SECONDS
Repeat this cycle for several minutes, focusing on your breath and the rhythm of the counts.
Scientific Support: Research indicates that structured breathing practices like box breathing can enhance mood and reduce respiratory rate, heart rate, and heart rate variability. A study published in Cell Reports Medicine found that daily 5-minute breathwork exercises, including techniques similar to box breathing, led to significant improvements in mood and reductions in anxiety levels compared to mindfulness meditation. (1)
Journaling for just five minutes a day can be a powerful tool for managing stress. The practice involves writing freely about your thoughts and feelings without worrying about grammar, spelling, structure or content. This unfiltered expression can help you process emotions, identify patterns, and gain insights into your experiences. We’ve included a few links to journals to help get you started.
Scientific Support: A randomized controlled trial published in JMIR Mental Health examined the effects of a 12-week web-based Positive Affect Journaling (PAJ) intervention. The study found that participants who engaged in daily journaling experienced reduced mental distress, anxiety, and perceived stress compared to those receiving standard care. (2)
A NOTE OF CAUTION: While box breathing and journaling are effective strategies for many, they are not substitutes for professional medical advice or treatment. If you're feeling overwhelmed or experiencing persistent stress, it's important to consult with a healthcare provider.
Incorporating these simple practices into your daily routine can serve as valuable tools in your mental health toolkit, helping you navigate stress and cultivate a greater sense of joy and well-being.

4 medium North Carolina sweetpotatoes (about 2 pounds), divided 1 tablespoon, plus 1 teaspoon, olive oil, divided 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
kosher salt, to taste
freshly ground black pepper, to taste all-purpose flour, for rolling out dough
1 pound whole-wheat pizza dough at room temperature, divided into four equal portions (4 ounces each)
1 cup freshly shredded Gouda cheese
4 large eggs
1/4 cup diced chives
Preheat oven to 400 F. Place 1 pound sweetpotatoes directly on rack and bake until soft, about 1 hour. Remove from oven and let cool 5-10 minutes. Peel and puree flesh until smooth; reserve 1 cup.
Increase oven heat to 450 F. Peel remaining sweetpotatoes and dice into 1/2-inch pieces. Toss 2 cups diced sweetpotatoes with 1 tablespoon olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne and salt and pepper, to taste; place in even layer on baking sheet. Roast until softened but not crisp, 15-20 minutes, stirring halfway. Remove from oven.
Lightly flour clean, flat work surface. Roll each ball of dough out to about 1/4-inch thickness (about 7 inches diameter).
With remaining oil, lightly coat rimless baking sheet. Transfer rolled out dough to baking sheet.
Spread pureed sweetpotato over surface of each dough round, about 1/4 cup each, leaving about 1/2-inch border. Top each with 1/4 cup shredded Gouda. Add 1/2 cup roasted sweetpotato cubes, leaving open space in center of pizzas.
Carefully crack one egg into center of each pizza; bake 15 minutes until crusts are golden brown on bottom, cheese is melted and egg whites are fully set. Carefully remove pizzas from oven.
Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Top each pizza with 1 tablespoon diced chives.

Splish, splash! It’s swimwear season!
And there’s a local mom who knows how to celebrate summer in style! Carlsbad mom, Netta Ziv is the founder and head designer of Naya Swimwear. She says she started the swimwear line with a vision to create a brand that reflects her personality while helping women and girls to feel beautiful, trendy, optimistic and comfortable, especially at our most vulnerable – in a bikini.
MOMSTOWN: Tell us about you and what inspired you to start a swimwear company.
NETTA: As a young girl growing up on the coast of Israel, I became enthralled with the sea. I would walk through dense banana groves to arrive at Mediterranean beaches, spending sun-soaked days floating in the warm water. I became the sea child that I am today; a product of the sea.
I have always had a creative mind, spending my time drawing, painting or sewing "interesting" looks.
Fashion became a way to express my creativity, making people feel good, bringing color to the world and smiles to everyone my designs interact with. I quickly realized that fashion could actually become a way to make a living while pursuing my passion.
MOMSTOWN: How did you come up with the idea to start Naya Swimwear? How did you come up with the name of your brand?
NETTA: I I founded Naya Swimwear during my last year of school, my final project was surf-wear and beachwear
inspired by Polynesia, and girls just started reaching out to me and asked if I can make them a suit. So, I started by sewing custom suits by myself, at school after hours. My business grew first from word-of-mouth, when I was living in Tel Aviv in a tiny one bedroom apartment. Girls would come choose the print they wanted and I would create the swimsuit of their dreams. It was hard work, sometimes stretching long hours into the mornings, but it was worth it to see the girls’ smiles, when they tried on the suits, looked in the mirror, and finally loved what they saw.
MOMSTOWN: What brings you the greatest joy in turning your creativity into wearable art?
NETTA: My main motivation is to create swimwear that provides women with confidence, when I see my “Naya Girl” smiling faces while looking in the mirror — I know I’m on the right path. As part of this, I look at female entrepreneurs, succeeding and making their dreams reality, and look up to them.
MOMSTOWN: What has been the greatest challenge in starting your business?
NETTA: The main challenge is being a female entrepreneur in the fashion industry, without any connections to start with. Swimwear is widely known as being particularly competitive and harsh. There are so many swimwear companies and today, anything can be bought online for an inexpensive cost.
There is so much potential for growth and awareness for one-of-a-kind swimwear designs made for all body types.
MOMSTOWN: What advice do you have to help others follow their passions and dreams?
NETTA: Persistence and not to let the ‘No’ bring you down. Just suck it in, let it go and keep going.
MOMSTOWN: How can MomsTown readers find your swimwear, clothing & accessories?
NETTA: I learned that there is a real challenge for women who don’t fit into a ‘type' the bustier ones, or
those with different proportions to find a swim suit that fits their body, and is still trendy and cheeky. Working together with these women, I designed special cuts for real women busty, curvy, and everyone in between. I want my clients to feel like they have found trendy swimwear that fits their body perfectly.

Let’s be honest — screens are part of modern life. But every summer, many moms wonder: “Is it possible to slow down, unplug, and make memories without a device in hand?” The answer? A big, joyful yes. You don’t need a Pinterest-perfect plan or a packed schedule to create magic this summer. You just need a few intentional moments and a willingness to say yes to fun, yes to curiosity, and yes to presence.
At MomsTown, we believe that the most meaningful moments often come from the simplest ideas. So here are 25 screen-free ways to connect with your kids, fill their hearts (and yours), and make this summer one to remember.
1. BACKYARD CAMPOUT
Pitch a tent, bring snacks, tell stories, and fall asleep under the stars—even if it’s just the backyard.
2. POPSICLE TASTE TEST
Buy or make five flavors and rate them together. Add a blindfold for extra fun.
3. DIY LEMONADE STAND
Teach kids about money and entrepreneurship — and make your neighbors smile.
4. NATURE SCAVENGER HUNT
Create a list of things to find: pinecones, feathers, flowers, smooth rocks. Take a walk and check them off.
5. HANDWRITTEN LETTERSS
Mail a letter to a grandparent, cousin, or friend. Add a drawing or fun sticker.
6. WATER BALLOON BASEBALL
Substitute balloons for balls and prepare to get soaked!
7. MAKE A TIME CAPSULE
Fill it with notes, drawings, and small treasures. Bury it (or hide it) until next summer.
8. CLOUD WATCHING
Lie on the grass and find animal shapes in the sky.
9. DIY OBSTACLE COURSE
17. STARGAZING NIGHT
Learn a few constellations. Bring snacks and let the sky inspire big questions.
18. PAINT ROCKS & HIDE THEM AROUND TOWN
A small gesture of joy for strangers to discover.
19. CREATE A SUMMER BUCKET LIST TOGETHER
Let every family member add at least one item.
20. VISIT A FARMER'S MARKET
Give the kids a few dollars and let them pick something new to try.
21. PLANT SOMETHING
Even if it’s just a sunflower in a cup — watching it grow is the magic.
22. LIBRARY BOOK HUNT
Find books by theme, color, or author. Make it an adventure.
23. MAKE BIRD FEEDERS
Peanut butter, pinecones, and birdseed — easy and fun.
Use pool noodles, hula hoops, and cardboard boxes. Time each other and cheer loud!
10. CREATE A FAMILY RECIPE BOOK
Cook together and let kids help “write” or draw their favorite meals.
11. SIDEWALK CHALK MURALS
Turn your driveway into a canvas. Try a gratitude wall or a hopscotch.
12. PICNIC IN THE PARK
Nothing fancy — just a blanket, sandwiches, and time to talk.
13. FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS
Perfect for quiet afternoons. Teach them a few basic knots and let creativity take over.
14. BUILD A FAIRY OR DINO GARDEN
Use mini plants, small toys, and imagination.
15. MAKE HOMEMADE ICE CREAM
Milk, sugar, vanilla, and a whole lot of shaking!
16. FAMILY TALENT SHOW
Everyone performs something — singing, dancing, jokes, or even pet tricks.
24. TRY TIE-DYE
Old shirts, socks, or bandanas become wearable art.
25. WRITE A SUMMER STORY TOGETHER
One person starts, the next adds a line. Print it, read it, and save it forever.
THIS SUMMER DOESN’T NEED TO BE PERFECT — IT JUST NEEDS TO BE PRESENT. THESE SMALL MOMENTS CREATE LIFELONG MEMORIES, STRENGTHEN BONDS, AND GIVE KIDS WHAT THEY CRAVE MOST: YOU. UNPLUG FOR A BIT. CONNECT FOR A LOT.
HERE’S TO A MAGICAL, SCREEN-FREE SUMMER.
With June Gloom (hopefully) in our rear-view mirror, we’re fairly confident everyone’s a bit anxious to get outside and enjoy some well-deserved sunshine. To celebrate the season and getting outdoors, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Deanna Ratnikova. Deanna is the creator of a card deck that encourages us to get outside and enjoy all that San Diego has to offer. It called The GO Deck!
MOMSTOWN: Deanna, tell us about what started you on your journey to creating The GO Deck and becoming a mom entrepreneur?
DEANNA: After embracing the 9-5 grind, and later becoming a parent, it was hard to stay active and healthy. I found two simple goals that I could maintain: spend time outdoors and keep moving. I don’t obsess over perfection or duration. I just commit to stepping outside each day and moving my body (even if it’s only a few minutes)!
I created The GO Deck to share my passion for getting outdoors and staying active. The deck features 52 outdoor locations in San Diego where you can walk, run, ride, roll, or stroll–you can have a new adventure every week of the year!
MOMSTOWN: Please share with us the story or inspiration behind the creation of The GO Deck? What specific moment or experience led you to develop this adventure card deck?
DEANNA: When the pandemic hit, I spent a lot of time alone or with my daughter, who was 3 at the time, and we just started walking around San Diego (remember when even the playgrounds were closed?!). Exploring the city by foot helped me appreciate the city’s landscapes, and my daughter
would often stop to observe flowers along the sidewalk. I realized I’d been overlooking the abundant nature that our urban environment offers.
I started to consider how I could share my urban nature outings with others. Inspiration struck several months later when my significant other gifted me with an informational card deck to enhance our relationship. The physical cards — visual, non-sequential, just enough text to give me the gist — were the perfect medium to match my short attention span coupled with the frequent calls for “Mommy!" This is when The GO Deck started to take shape.
MOMSTOWN: Creating something new comes with its set of challenges. What were some of the biggest obstacles you faced while developing The GO Deck, and how did you overcome them? Additionally, what keeps you motivated during tough times?
DEANNA: The biggest obstacles are those that happen in my head, like selfdoubt and second-guessing. Physical health issues, however, remind me that life is short. I find myself counteracting any negative inner dialogue with, “If I should die soon, I would regret more that I didn’t pursue this idea than if it fails.” That motivates me to keep going, no matter the outcome!
MOMSTOWN: The GO Deck is not just a card game; it's an invitation to adventure and exploration. How do you hope The GO Deck will inspire families, especially children, to engage with the world around them? Can you share any stories of how it has already made an impact?
DEANNA: Being outdoors, especially with friends and family, is the source of my best memories. I find that when I’m outdoors, I’m more present and more connected, to both those with me and nature. I hope others find that connection and build amazing memories along the way.
MOMSTOWN: Is there a particular card or aspect of The GO Deck that holds special meaning to you or reflects a personal experience or philosophy? How has the journey of creating The GO Deck influenced you personally and professionally?
DEANNA: My family and friends have been incredibly supportive, giving feedback, helping create videos, sharing via social media, etc... I’ve felt so loved starting this entrepreneurial endeavor. Sharing this journey with my daughter, who’s now 7, has been especially meaningful.
MOMSTOWN: Looking ahead, what are your plans for the The GO Deck?
DEANNA: There will be more cities. I’m completing a deck now for Knoxville, Tennessee, and I’m researching sites for a North County San Diego deck.
MOMSTOWN: What tips or advice do you have for other moms who have an idea?
DEANNA: Find a community. I received a lot of encouragement and support from Hera Hub, a women’s business community. Fellow members give me product feedback and business-related advice.
