PARTNERSHIP WITH PLASTIC BANK ®

In the run-up to World Oceans Day on the 8th of June 2021, Princes announced their support for Plastic Bank® in their mission to remove plastic from coastal areas and prevent ocean pollution, broadening our sustainability activities still further.

PlasticBank is building ethical recycling ecosystems in coastal communities in countries such as Haiti, Brazil, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Egypt stopping ocean plastic while improving lives in vulnerable coastal communities. Local collectors exchange their plastic waste for cash, which help provide basic family necessities such as groceries, school tuition, and health insurance.

As a partner of Plastic Bank, Princes contributes to fighting both plastic pollution in the oceans and the high poverty rates in developing countries.

Consumers are being invited to contribute too, the partnership with Plastic Bank is supported by a big campaign including TV, POS, outdoor sites and retailer magazines.

100% SUSTAINABLY CAUGHT TUNA

Princes is focussed on offering sustainably caught tuna. Recent research* has shown that Princes offers the widest MSC-certified canned fish range in the Netherlands but we want to take this further. By the end of 2022, we will offer 100% certified MSC tuna in the Netherlands.

VIER DIAMANTEN TRACEABILITY TOOL “SCAN-DEN-FISCH”

Our traceability tool, developed in co-operation with Provenance, has been operational since April 2021. All our Vier Diamanten products offer consumers insight into the journey from catch to can. That’s what transparency is all about.

By scanning a QR-code on the lid of the can, consumers are taken to the “Scan-den-Fisch” landing page, which then shows all relevant information, from the catching method to the ocean the tuna was caught in and, where it was canned. In fact, full transparency of the supply chain. Over the course of the year all of our products on shelf in Austria, will have a QR code. To create awareness and support for this initiative, a PR campaign was initiated, targeting Austrian consumers with an interest in our brand, sustainability or tuna.
