近 1 0年全球正在 進行一場靜 悄悄的革命，這 是一場活過百歲長壽的革命 “ Lo n g ev i t y Revo l u t i o n”。革命的內容並不是單純 以被 動及 消極的角度來 面對人口高齡化所帶來的種種「問題」，而是從根本著眼，在社會、經 濟、科學 甚至 政 治層上面去預計社會未 來的發 展軌 跡。 革命的開端始於破除迷信，史 丹福長壽 研究中心 (St a nfo rd Ce nte r o n Lo n g ev i t y) 的主管卡絲坦 森教授 (L a u r a C a r s te ns e n) 根據3 0年來的研究結果指出關於人口高齡化的三大 迷思﹕

醫 學 昌明，人 類 的 壽 命 已 經 一次 又一

慮，但研 究 結 果 卻 剛 好相 反。卡 絲 坦

對 於身邊的人和事 卻更 見 珍 惜，就 算

(2) 適 量 飲 酒、(3)定 期運 動、(4) 保 持

小 事一樁 都感 到 欣 慰，感 恩多了生 活

標準體重、(5)建立穩定情感關係、(6)

幸福感自然提高。

掌 握自己 的 人 生下半 場 卡絲坦 森教授表示年老是自然進程，雖然 大家的終點站都是一樣的，但過程卻 可以有很大的差別。以積極的態度去準備自己的未來，培養良好的生活習慣、事 事感恩以及早作生涯規劃等都助我們獲得健康、快樂以及豐盛的人生下半場。 隨著醫療科技發達，「年老」引起「衰老」已非必然現象，「長壽」將是稀鬆平常 的事，只是要擁有健康歲月，便不能坐以待「老」而是要永續經營。

In last decade, many revolutionary changes are undergoing in our globe and one of the most profound changes is called Longevity Revolution. Instead of acquiring a remedial perspective, it is time to project and prepare holistically the challenge as well as opportunity that population ageing will incur. Before a revolution begins, Professional Laura Carstensen from Stanford Center on Longevity has shared her finding upon 30 years of research which unveils the unspoken truth about ageing.

HAPPIER AS YOU AGE General perception towards aged people usually tends to be miserable. Pessimistic thought, doubt and depressive mood are used to describe the mental status of elderly. However Professor Carstensen’s research suggests otherwise. Except dementia, the research proves that the ageing people is actually mentally healthier than their young counterparts. Professor perceives this phenomenon as Paradox of Ageing i.e. less time you have, more likely to appreciate the beauty of life even for the most simplest reason.

7 HABITS OF HEALTHY LIFE Although the advancement of medical science and level of care have extended our years of living significantly, the irreversible damage by unhealthy living style such as smoking, alcoholic and obesity are still threatening people’s life. Therefore research from Harvard University suggests 7 habits for healthy life ( 1 ) Don’t smoke, ( 2 ) Drink in moderate, (3) Excise regularly, (4) Keep your weight down, (5) Cultivate stable emotional relationship, ( 6 ) Get an education, (7) Develop good coping skills.

SEIZE YOUR SECOND HALF LIFE “Ageing is inevitable. How you age is not.” said Professor Carstensen. The key is to act proactively, for example try to adopt a healthy life style, appreciate more and plan your second half life earlier, all those measures are useful for us to achieve a meaningful and joyful second half life. By the blessing of advanced medical science, ageing does not necessarily lead to frality. Once you keep yourself moving and healthy, longevity will be with you.

預防勝於治療，做多些運動、飲食更

健康，對身體有益似乎大家都了然於心

，但實行起來似乎有重重障礙，如天氣

轉變會影響游泳、踏單車等戶外運動，

而不少關節有問題的人士對跑步、跳舞

等運動也有心無力。

香港理工大學護理學院與真光苑長者地

區中心合辦﹁體適能運動計劃﹂，目的

是提升參加者的平衡力、肌力、柔軟度

和心肺耐力，並同時達到增加關節柔軟

度，減輕關節痛楚的效能。正當大家以

為需要大量的運動工具，甚至要在健身

室做運動才可做到上述的果效時，計劃

的厲害之處正突顯出來 ｜ 透過體適能導

師根據參加者的身體狀況設計一套簡單

的運動動作，並利用日常生活接觸到的

工具，如水樽、毛巾等，讓參加者可以

全天候、任何地點進行，從而更容易培

養做運動成為日常生活的習慣。在計劃

的初期，為了監察進度及糾正參加者錯

誤的運動姿勢，護士學生更會在現場指

導，並且在適當的時候讚賞肯定，給予

參加者信心。

秒負重屈臂 30

﹁體適能運動計劃﹂的成效突出，透過八

星期的培訓， 成 8 參加者在

上 由 原 先 13 次 大 幅 進 步 至 17 次，展示肌力 大幅的提升; 成 9 參加者在兩分鐘踏步由

多 次 進 步 至 接 近 90 次，顯示心肺功能的 50 大幅改善; 有超過一半的參加者在椅上坐

計劃﹂不但成效突出，通過講解預防慢性

疾病的知識，配合為長者設計的家居運動

模式，從課程實踐及互動中建立運動與健

康的信念。正如張博士說﹁認識運動為健

康帶來的好處，掌握方法，增加信心，才

能令運動成為恆常生活習慣! ﹂ 01_

Exercise more and healthy eating are cliches to many.

A joint Physical Fitness Project between School of Nursing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and True Light Villa District Elderly Community Centre, Christian Family Service Centre aims to tailor a training package of daily workout for senior participant so that exercise can be done anywhere at anytime. Using ordinary physical training gear, such as water bottle and towel, fitness can be so handy.

Students from Nursing School provides guidance to participants so that it makes sure what they have learnt (e.g. posture) is accurate. After 8 weeks of training, encouraging result is revealed. Participants show significant improvement in balance, muscle strength, flexibility and Cardio-respiratory capacity. The result proves that simple and proper way to exercise are the key to healthy life.

Like most Hong Kong people, Elaine is so devoted to work. Shortly after retirement, she felt sick. “I think that is normal, that is a part of ageing” said Elaine. A few years ago, Elaine has suffered from arthritis, the pain from her joint kept her awake in nights. “I just realize medication and even surgery can’t cure but the simple rule is to keep moving”.

Prime Link (PL) has conducted a workshop to introduce second half planning. It has outlined several major areas of concern e.g. health, personal relationship, travel, caring of family, retirement life and caring service option etc. that needed to be addressed in order to achieve a fulfilling life.
