In this issue, focusing on the theme “healthy diet”, we introduce the concept of "lifestyle is the best medicine" from "Lifestyle Medicine” and explain how to enhance one’s health without incurring additional expenses. While “eat smart”, which emphasizes a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern is one of the six pillars of “Lifestyle Medicine”. In addition, a nutritionist provides dietary habits and health management advice which can be adopted and “eat smart” in our daily lives.
On the other hand, Dr Bai Xue, Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Social Sciences and Director of Research Centre for Gerontology and Family Studies at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, also the member of Elderly Commission, explains the concept of healthy ageing and the importance of promoting primary healthcare service on improving health of the elderly.
